i got one of those earlier too. crazy....
I think it has something to do with voicemail notifications but I'm not exactly sure.
It's weird. I received a familiar text earlier today. I ignored it though. Too lazy to investigate.
Got the EXACT same thing today too. WTF?

Maybe it means we are all now eligible for the Official ICS update? QUICK, EVERYONE GO CHECK!
I got a text earlier at 11:01 MST that said "This is a test of the commercial mobile alert system. This is only a test." I am assuming that you are 2 time zones east of Utah so that is probably what it is.
No reason to be scared!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: I tried to upload a screnshot of mine but it says wrong file extension.
I got the exact text to around 11am today. Glad to know I wasn't the only one. I'm not even on sprint..

here you go. I looked up some other info and the gibberish some of you seen is because AOSP based roms do not have the WEA coding in them. The coding is inserted by carriers. The WEA coding will force your phone to perform the annoying screatching noise you hear on the radio and TV regardless of the volume and ringtone settings. Also there is a new version of the WEA coding that will not allow you to turn off your phones screen till the message is read.

Ehh all the leaks were exactly the iphone they were releasing. Maybe they'll change the design in 2 years, after the iphone 5s.. At least Samsung had revolutionary features, and make the phone more human friendly, and they even change the design from year to year.
Apple is slowly, but surely going to be defeated soon.

yea... i was watching the latter part of it. New Panorama Feature?!?!? OMG, like... Android has had that for how long now? Wow... 1080p recording? You mean because your screen can actually support it now? Holy sh*t! You don't need a cable for stuff now? Wow... Apple is really moving up in the world
The only sad part is that i've become more well aware that the only iPhones worth upgrading to, for those who actually USE iPhones, are the non-revised ones like the 4S. This one seems like quite a nice step up from the iPhone 4... whereas the 4S was just Siri. They're just completely underwhelming, and i can't help but laugh every time i see them tout something as if it's a completely revolutionary idea, yet has existed on other phones for months/years.
The thing i had to laugh at the most...... "Sapphire crystal lens cover". Really? Why?

I just wanna say this freaking phone is sweet as hell, and I had quite a few of them during the past few months. EVO LTE, GS3 and the Note 2 and I have to say this phone stands up to all of them and in some cases its even better.
Its a shame this phone is being over looked by others because it doesn't have the name recognition.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
I kind of enjoy having an unknown phone. Makes it a little more unique. Just kinda sucks for development as there aren't too many with this unit.
That being said, I think there is quality with the devs here which is better than quantity. Anyone can make a crappy ROM. Takes talent to make a great one. Skill that I do not have. I have been impressed so far and look forward to what rolls out once they get their hands on jelly bean.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
I had the E4GT as my last phone and i asked them which would u upgrade to LGOG or Note II. Not surprising they voted Note II mainly because they knew the devs would be all over it. So ur right, this phone is over looked but little do they know the quality devs now involved. Once ASOP starts rolling im pretty sure we'll generate alot more following.

Easily my favorite phone to date. It's nice to not have the same Sammy as every other Joker out there(except jokersax of course, who owns an OG and devs for us. Wicked cool btw). I'm sure the GS3 is a great device and all, but this thing just shames my buddies GS3.
My only complaint is that the screen washes out more in direct sunlight than the AMOLED does, but it's so infrequent for me that it really doesn't matter.

So I've restored several backups, hard reset through phone settings, dialed ##72786# to re program phone, updated prl and profile, and finally LGNPST. My 4g data works fine but i cannot get calls texts to work.
When I switch to my gnex calls and texts work like normal. So this is not a network error.

And have you toggled airplane mode?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Sometimes the bars show a red x. When there is an x I cannot get data either. Sometimes the x is gone and I get 4g again.
After LGNPST I was able to successfully update profile and prl but it did not fix the problem. I've been able to update profile a few times. After it says the profile has been updated the phone reboots. I've never seen that prior to this.
Oh and the lock screen and notification pull down both say sprint. As if it is connected to sprint service.

well think i found part of the reason, i no longer have a "min" or phone number, as well as my prl went from 25011 to 40000
I took it to Sprint and they could not get it activated either. They said the phone is not recognizing it's meid (I think, he may have called it something else). Luckily I have TEP so they ordered me a new phone free of charge.

Do you mean the original couple, or has there been a recent update? I flashed the original, as well as the first update and the 2nd and 3rd kernels(or whatever those zips were). It was strange. Sprint cannot lock the device's radio. It can control whether it or not it has network access, but that would not cause a red X on the signal, just the 3G/4G to disappear. The bars, depending on connection, would still show even if the device was completely deactivated.
To anyone facing this issue, I would get your MSL (if you're rooted, there's an app on the play store) and dial ##786#, press menu key, reset to defaults. Unlike ##72786# which only resets network connection, this will reset your phone to default settings in case it is a software issue causing this, and it will also initiate a handsfree activation, in case the issue is network-related. Yes, your phone will be completely reset, so back up your stuff now if you keep precious items on it. I'm thinking pictures/video/media should be ok, but I would back them up or move them just in case. I do not want to be held responsible for your lost pictures
so when my phone gets hot and i go into an app that has a white background, i.e. play store, i get a couple of light orange blotches that appear to be pixel bleeding of some sort. when i cool it down, i.e. put it in the fridge or freezer, it goes away. Could be the color saturation issues with AOSP. I know my screen had an orangeish tint when it got hot on AOSP but not on stock.
