Does WP have these apps?? - Nokia Lumia 900

hi I'm just wondering if WP has the Grindr and Jack'd apps? I think the new Nokia Lumia phones are really pretty. Thanks

You can search for them at windowsphone.com . I've never heard of these apps. Check out the PureView tech in the Lumia 920.

They're gay dating apps.
And no WP doesn't have them, unfortunately due to inpopularity the WP7 platform doesn't really have many apps

Guess 100,000+ is not that many. Windows Marketplace filters are pretty stringent, but contact the developers and ask them to port over to WP. Fewer users but better return for developers than Android.

When you've used iOS, then Android, and finally decided to try WP7, 100,000 apps is in fact very little.
Not only that but the paid apps are way overpriced. $3 for angry birds? Really? Its all personal opinion, but my one and a half weeks of using WP7 left me dying for Android again

There are a couple apps I miss, but often there are good, sometimes better, replacements.
Missing TeamViewer: RemoteSuiteUltimate - Awesome app!
Missing RoboForm: LastPass
Also, if you are moving to Nokia, there's this handy app that gives you equivalent apps for apps you are missing.

Not starting a war here. Just curious. Of the 500,000+ available Android apps, how many have you looked at (browsed closely) or downloaded? I have browsed about 4-5k, WP apps, and downloaded around 500. That has taken a tremendous effort on my part, looking for apps to review. I scan the list of new releases almost every day. So with 500k, is this exponential? Do you browse apps for hours per day and download 1,000s. Just wondering what the hype is, as I find 100k to already be too many. At least fo me.

Will there be a WP7 XDA app?

The Android version of the XDA App is pretty good and so the WP7 version will probably be even better.

I too would love a xda app to call my own. Make it so xda. If you could follow Metro UI that would be better.
Yeah the Android app is okay, hopefully they make one that works and is stable

I feel like i cant do anything without that xda app on my phone and thats probably the only +1 android has over WP7 right now..

Think that's an understatement... Taking 3 seconds just for the "Loading Forum" label to appear after I click the forum is ridiculous... With that being said, it's made a lot of improvements lately, and I've become a fan of it after despising it... I only see it getting better too, the developers seem very dedicated to a quality product.

That's true, but it's too limited. If the free version allowed you to use all features with ONE forum, that would make sense, but I guess that would cut into their $999 fees for customization, right? I think that fee is a bit excessive considering TapaTalk is letting them use their forum plug-in to get the app to work (then again, maybe they're paying TapaTalk?).
The XDA App for Android is full featured, just limited to XDA-Developers' forum.

Microsoft's servers are handling Notifications from everywhere else, so I don't see how that would be an issue. I think just the Messenger by Miyowa probably puts more hurt to their servers than this app would due to how many notifications every user gets.
If they need better servers for notifications, buy it with the cash you make from the app.
And hire a dev to fix these performance issues...

As a senior member you probably already got a lot from being on xda, 99 cents is not much to show your support. And the app works!
I dont mind donating to XDA directly but it sort of feels like a kick in the groin when users of some "favored" OSes don't have to pay to use a service but we do. There are already some mods showing favoritism on the forums. If I post a topic regarding Windows Phone 7 in the overall general section then it gets moved even though 99 percent of the topics there are directly related to android. Just sucks that everyone likes ****ting on WP7.

I agree, this screen is far better than I thought it would be. I have a iPhone 4s which is better of course but I would say the extra space comes close to offsetting the blurry text edges which is a minor annoyance to me. The colors are great.

Funny. Other than the marketplace, this phone is in every single way better than the Galaxy Nexus I replaced with it. Due to the piece of crap pentile on the Gnex, the resolution difference is only marginally noticeable.

if you like what IOS offers than buy a iphone. why would microsoft pay developers to rebuild something that already exists.

Precisely. Each OS is different. iOS is great, it's great - solid and smooth - but it's getting dated and needs a bit of an overhaul. Android is an awesome OS, if you don't mind the lag, and lack of general reliability that comes along with it. WP is a fantastic third option. Great aesthetics, the smoothness of iOS, it just needs a better marketplace, which will come with time. iOS has been on the market for 5 years now, and 4 years for Android. WP7 has been on the market for about a year and a half, and is already a very strong competitor. I think that speaks volumes.

Google is giving Apple its apps!!

Today google made "Google now" work on IOS and in previous days it also made Chrome to work on IOS. Why is google making this? On the other side apple didn't give Android Siri or Safari. This thing makes me feel that iphone users have every awsome app and me as an android user can't get what they have. Google must make this apps exclusive on android phones, i won't be surprised if they gave them Play Music or Play books in the future.
I don't think software wise Google feels threatened by Apple... Plus they would rather everyone gets to use there software them just hog it for only a select few....

I also think it probably helps in what will inevitably be ENORMOUS upcoming lawsuits not only between companies like Google, Apple and Microsoft but also when governments start getting involved. Google is expanding at an accelerating rate into new markets with fiber, Motorola, Android, ChromeOS, etc. They need to continue to show that they aren't being monopolistic.

Blackberry seems to be shooting to be just good enough with this phone. Dual core processor, 1 gb RAM and a smaller screen by today's standards seem like this is the device they are testing the waters with when really they should go for broke. Realistically this could be their last hurrah.
Personally I want to see them succeed. I dont think i will ever buy another blackberry, but a third strong OS would keep all systems innovating at a very high rate instead of encouraging stagnation.

Look, you might think the hardware isn't all there. That isn't the big picture. Watch your mind explode. No iPhone, no Android as we know it, No widgets, no Windows 8, and to come full circle, no blackberry, no iPhone.
Android will die one day. Blackberry might die too. Analyst are already predicting the iPhone's doom. But, BB only gives us more. The ideas that blackberry comes up with will enhance the android phones. Competition brings innovation. I hope blackberry does great and brings timely updates too. Imagine if all the other os's updated like Apple. Don't think for a second blackberry didn't take note to our fragmentation. They have the same 2 phones worldwide for a reason.
And don't think for a second our brand loyalty its less fickle than it is. We will jump ship in drones. Blackberry might not be leading the pack now. But, now is very relative.
So, i agree with everyone.

Blackberry will still have it's place in corporate and gov't settings for a while yet, but I don't see the mass appeal that they want and need to regain their once dominant position. They would have to do something more eye-popping than what they did.
On a somewhat different note, what are thoughts that some others have about upcoming platforms? Firefox OS, Tizen, Ubuntu, etc... I read that Samsung will be releasing Tizen phones in Q3.

Well see...I'm happy with the direction android is going in so far. if anything, since iOS doesn't seem to be encouraging innovation with that boring stagnant ui and features, I would like a good third player in the market whoever it may be to keep Google on its toes and android moving along. But blackberry? They had their chance years ago I'm over it and no people won't "flock" to another os people don't think that way

I think more ppl would flock than you expect. If what they want is simple and their when the need it. I like android but it is confusing. People like comfort and usability.
Now, I don't think they will leave in droves. But, I don't think BlackBerry will disappear either.

I agree with that sentiment. For the average person, blackberry is a known name so they'll give it a shot. And if the OS is smooth and understandable, they won't have any trouble flocking to it. And businesses will buy in bulk.

You hit it right there that people prefer comfort thats why (since rim gave people PLENTY of time to get comfortable with android lol) I don't think they'll FLOCK but I agree there will be people willing to give it a shot and yeah it could actually catch momentum so all we can do is wait and watch haha I'm excited to see how the mobile landscape looks by the end of this year since it changes so rapidly

I believe android will remain dominant for many years to come I see bb10 as more of a threat to wp8. BlackBerry has made it easy to port over android apps meaning they could easily out shine wp quickly when it comes to apps. I also believe people will defect from android also but not in droves android will remain dominant if only for the choices you can get their is a device out their that fits everyone's needs
Here is a question? Will we need to buy the app again? I assume so. Honestly, both phones are appealing.
There was a good article today about the demise of phones. It could be a great thing. If the losers leave and the leaders cut back we might see more stellar phones from less manufacturers. Lg won't make 30 different phones a year. So, the 5 they end up making might get faster updates.
