When I unplug my Dash from my HTC car charger the charge light and screen icon stayed on. I soft reset many times, and hard reset once and it stayed on. Before I reflash it is their anything I'm not trying? New to note: I let my phone charge overnight and the charge icon on the screen is gone, it shows a full battery. The led is still on, but it's steady green. I think this is a sign of the end is near.
I went out to my van this morning and saw that my car charger no longer works. Mabye some type of power surge caused this. New to note: After charging all night the light is off and the icon is a full battery. My phone showed 100% from 6am to 1:30pm; odd I know. Then I reset it and It was at 7%. I charged it turned off for 3 hrs. and it ran well full green on till one block form my house at 10:30pm. Has anyone had problem after using a "bad" car charger?
Wish my phone didnt stop charging.
I wouldnt need to plug it in every night

I have 2 batterys. I think while charging my phone with my car charger the charger "shorted-out" and messed my phone up. It still works, but the led stays on and the charging icon comes on when it gets below 90%. I installed dontforget .cab to get some led functions back. I like other on this form love my Dash. This is realy hurting me to see it on its' last leg. I found one on craigslist for $60; I paid $140 for my current one on craigslist 'bout 2.5 years ago.
I was charging my Evo on my computer today and all of a sudden my battery died. Now it won't turn back on. After the first attempts to turn it on it would only get as far as the first HTC Evo 4G screen, then it would turn back off. This happened about three times and now it won't do anything at all.
I also noticed that when I put it on the wall charger that the red LED light doesn't even come on anymore.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be or how to fix it? I hope it's only the battery, because I can replace that!!! But I hope that's it. I don't really have enough money to be buying a new phone right now.
PLEASE HELP....SOMEBODY PLEASE!!!
P.S.
I had just installed an app called "Juice Defender" about an hour before my phone died. It's an app that's supposed to make your phones battery life last longer. I didn't configure it or anything. I just installed it. If anyone is famillier with this app is it possible that this could have caused this issue?
Just pull the battery & put it back in, then stick it on the (wall) charger overnight. The battery's probably just super-dead.
If it's not fixed in the morning, take it to Sprint & let them test a different battery. If it's your phone they should give you a new one for free as long as you have insurance.
The battery is super drained, let it sit on the charger for a couple of hours.
It worked!!
I tried what you've suggested. I left it on the charger overnight. Around six, when I woke up, it still wouldn't work. I removed the battery one last time and put it back on the charger. Now, all of a sudden, the LED light came back on. It flashed on and off about six times and then it stayed on.
I'm really relieved. Gonna leave it on until it's fully charged.
Thanks for the info.
Just hope it doesn't happen again.
Well glad that it worked. Just be sure to when the Evo starts flashing the red notification light, you need to get it to a charger. If you're out and about, I turn mine completely off at that point.
Hey Guys,
Picked up my HTC One X last week and have had no problems charging the device.
Last night I plug it in as usual using the supplied charger and cable, set the alarm and go to sleep.
When I wake up I notice that it hasn't charged and (this may be unconnected) the alarm did not sound.
I unplug in and plug in back in and it begins to charge.
Interestingly, I checked out the power information in settings and the phone thinks it was charging all night, except, it wasn't.
Anyone else experienced anything like this?
Thanks
Coincidentally my HTC One X was acting really bizarre this morning/tonight too.
I connected it to the charger yesterday and this morning (about 5:30) it woke me up with the "Quietly Brilliant" splashscreen and sound. It seemed to have reset itself and asked me to send a log to HTC...
I guess today will forever be known as 'buggy tuesday'
exactly the same thing happened to me last night. plugged in at 12% woke up at 12% 30 minutes late for work as alarm didnt sound.
seems my phone is having trouble charging today as well as its only went up 3% in an hour and a half and its on airplane mode as im in work!
Wow, so its not an isolated case.
Wonder if its date specific, or has something to do with the Alarm.
Would be interesting to see if anyone else was effected.
My phone seems to be charging OK although I have restarted it since it refused to charge last night.
I do believe under heavy load that the phone will not charge, but as I understand it, a service, or background process cannot consume more than a small amount of the CPU. I did wonder if somehow the alarm has spun out of control and had the system under such a load that it refused to charge.
I just hope its anything but dodgy hardware.
i just restarted mine and its now charging normally so reckon it must be an app or service that was causing it.
the alarm thing could just be coincedence but seems strange...
i usually switch my phone off at night if i am leaving it to charge so i have not got a chance to try this out..
I had a message on my phone last night I have not seen b4. Maybe a similar thing happened to you. The message said "Please close background apps as your phone is using more current than the charger can supply" lol.
as another quick observation, my phone got to 69% charged then got stuck for about 35min.
i restarted the phone again and it started charging again.
i dont see anything strange in the task manager list, and i dont think i have installed anything untoward that i didnt already have on my HTC Desire other than a couple of paid for games...
is there anything i can look at when this happens again to see whats draining the battery? theres nothing strange in the battery usage list either.
currently i have
Screen 63%
Golfshot GPS 28% (i used this yesterday for about 4 hours)
Android OS 4%
Cell standby 2%
Phone idle 2%

Hmm, that's kinda odd. Wonder if the issue I experienced was somehow related.
Just to follow up I repeated my usual routine again and plugged the phone in again before going to bed. Wake up this morning to find exactly the same thing - it hadn't charged.
This really makes no sense and is getting pretty annoying.

hi which version of the OS are you using as it may well be to do with the version of android and software update may well fix this also if you have wifi turned on that can be a large drain on battery make sure if left on it is set to turn of when screen gose of maybe that charger cannot handle it been left on but most likley its a bug in the OS
i found part of my problem was using a lower rated charger. the one i had in my bedroom was 700ma and it needs a 1A.
charged fine last night when i switched chargers.
oh, and my alarm went off fine this morning as well.
still doesnt explain why it wasnt charging, or got stuck while charging with the official charger.
Hey Guys,
One last update!
I have just factory reset my phone after noticing that it would not charge from AC at all and the battery level went from 45% to 100%.
So, Im guessing that somehow, by charging the phone over night, the calibration went out and what it was reporting was not actually what was left.
I shall keep and eye on it!
hi guys. i think that htc rushed with this device to be ahead of all and did not finish the job well, this is why we experience so much problems with this device.no harm intended
So I'm having a problem where I drained my battery and the phone shut itself off with 1% to 2% battery life remaining. I've left it charging for a good 45 minutes now. Turned it on, and it reported 1%. Thinking that it was just a reporting error, I unplugged it, and the phone promptly shut itself off. Now another 30 minutes has passed, unplugged it, turned it on. The phone refuses to turn on! It will however show the battery charging animation, so I know it's not bricked or anything. I guess my only solution is to leave it charging while it's off overnight, even though I need to use my phone right now... That important person will have to wait :crying:
Edit: Works again... Though it does not show my battery life correctly. It says 15% when it's probably more like 2%.
Make sure it's plugged into a wall and not your computer.

Might want to use a different cable.. i have read that the cable and possibly even the wall adapter can be flakey.. if you have a spare cable try to use it instead of the lg one..
Original LG cable is fine. It's ever since I drained the battery it's started to act weird. I plugged it in at 3% in hopes of "calibrating" the batterystats and it was charging fine. Up till now. I caught a glimpse of my phone turn itself off while charging.
Now it's randomly decided to turn itself on and bootloop... And back to charging animation while off we go. What the hell? The battery isn't charging... Switching cables didn't help btw.
Found a third cable. Temporarily working..

Hmmm maybe the charger? Sounds to me like its not getting proper power hence the shutting down while plugged in.. but what do I know heh
I have the same problem. Plugged the phone in at about 3% and walked away. Came back an hour later to find it stuck in a loop of the LG logo and a black screen. I can sometimes get it into recovery, and from there see that the battery percentage will go from 0% to 15% and back to 0%. It's like the battery is bad.
I think it's a problem with the ROM/firmware where we can't drain it and hope to charge it up again..
I'm still running v1 of the jb release and last night I used my phone until it shut down at 2%, charged it up fine, and its been ok, knock on wood. One weird thing is that if I use the phone while on the charger, and I mean light tapatalk usage, the phone will drop to 99%, even while plugged in. Weird.

That's normal. When the phone is charged at 100% it stop charging to avoid the battery to be overcharged thus reducing it's durability.
Not charging again... My phone maintained a charge between 10% and 25% or so according to the battery usage graph. So I switched cables again. I went into the service menu and got a screenshot of the charging test this time. First pic is with the LG cable. Second is with a Samsung cable. Third picture is back with LG cable after the battery successfully got charged past the "low battery zone" with the Samsung cable.
I have a similar problem with the stock charger. After a few weeks of working perfectly, it just sopped charging my Optimus G.
Bizarrely, it charges my wife's Galaxy S2 HD LTE without issues.
And the charger from my Sony-Ericsson Xperia pro charges the Optimus without issues.
It's almost like the stock charger burns out something internally such that it doesn't output enough voltage/amperage/current.
Sent via the magic of an Optimus G (E971) running CM 10.1.
So it happened again... But this time, it occurred in between 20% to 40% battery life while charging. It's probably the LG cable.. Gonna call support and ask for another.

I have a similar situation -- I powered down my phone one time at 5 %, did not wake up until one hour of charge, then last night tried again with about 40 % of battery left, same problem. I was wondering at first if the phone did not go to power down properly, and that the battery would drain through that, but then I just did another test with my battery at 30 %, and the phone did not want to restart until plugged in for 5 minutes.. It's almost as if the booting process is just this huge battery drain, sucking all the juice to start the phone in a peak of electrical rage.. anyway -- I noticed that yesterday, I was trying to restart the phone after a while, it would start to boot but it seemed it owuld just miss a little bit of juice to complete the process, then finally when it made it to screen it was at about 10 %..
Could it be that fix we used in the stock rom to get the screen at more than 65 %, and the cpu at 1512 mhz ? It seems more software related than hardware in my case, meaning I don't beleive it is the cable
Hate to revive an old thread, but as the new owner of an LGOG i just ran across this problem the other day. My phone has been able to go two day on a charge, and last week I forgot to charge it on night. Found it dead the next day. was leaving so I took it intending to charge at work or in the car. Car charger had no effect, but upper portion of phone got hot. plugged it in at home, same thing, charging icon, getting hot, but not charging. Also noted dim screen glow all the time.
tried 2o second hold on power button, vol up and down, got into the download screen and the bootloader screen, but no charge. Finally held the power button and vol. up and red charging light came on. Held it for a minute and the red charging light stayed on, let go out it went. Decided to try a couple of rubber bands around the phone to hold in the buttons, and it worked ---phone charged fully and operates as usual.
Thought I'd pass my experiance on to help anyone else with similar problem. Any idea why this worked?
I don't know, but I do know that getting to android 4.3 roms like the ones in Houstonn's thread have cured my O. G. from that, and from also constant and random camera reboot, and from also maps freaking out when plugged in in the car..

For anybody that runs into this problem
I had this problem and tried for hours and hours to fix it. When you stick the usb charger into your phone, it literally takes like 5 hours to charge 2% when it's in this state
So it never gets to a point of wanting to turn on because the phone gets too hot trying to charge
My solution: Put a bunch of ice in a bowl, then put something over that like a bag, aluminum foil, basically anything that would be a barrier between the ice and your phone to keep it from getting wet
Now let it charge with the phone sitting on top of that ice for a few hours(make sure to add new ice as it melts) and your phone will charge up enough that it can be fully turned on. Then just let it keep charging
This worked for me after trying other things for hours. If this didn't work i was gonna open the phone and pull the battery
After the last update I have not had this issue. I've run my phone dead a few times and now it always charges - no issue.

Last fall. I had to go to the stock rom, do the update, reroot, then all was fine.
I got my watch today and went to charge it for the first time and it'll get to 10% and then it starts to discharge pretty rapidly. Anyone else have this issue or will it correct itself over night or something?
Another thing I've noticed is the moto360 gets a little hot when it starts discharging, maybe that's why?

Charge up first and THEN update to new OTA. Then your battery will improve a little each day.

I've already done the OTA. It started the download as soon as I turned it on basically.

What's your build number right now?
The latest should be 4.4W.1.
What you can try is to reset the watch, maybe that helps. That shouldn't cause that much damage as you probably don't have any data on the watch itself anyway.
Hard to reset it when you can't get it to turn on. It doesn't even show the charge indicator now. Just the backlight turning off and going dim
That doesn't sound right at all. Try a different charge cord with your dock. Mine started the update download as soon as it linked to my phone, after that it HAD to be charged to at least 80% before starting the actual update. After that it will charge from 10% to 60% in about 25mins or less.
Sent from my LG-LS995 using Tapatalk
It's been sitting on the charger now for ~4-5 hours since I started this thread. I took it off about 5mins ago to test it, it powers on and nothing. It acts like it wants to come on, but nothing happens. Just the backlight, then it dims and soon goes off. The charging white light has been lit while it was on the charger the whole time. And it won't even display the blue circle with the time while on the charger.
When I took it out of the box earlier this afternoon it came on, paired it and started downloading the update then shut off saying to charge it. I placed it on the charger and the blue circle ring appeared. It hit 10% and started draining 2% a second and shut off. It hasn't shown the charging screen again after that. Just lights up the black screen and goes off, that's it.
So one thing I noticed, I power the watch completely off. No backlight on at all and place it on the charger. After a few seconds it turns on, black screen just backlight turns on, and vibrates really quick. Then after a couple seconds it vibrates again, but longer than it does when just powering the unit on and then the screen dims.
