Stable Jellybean ROM - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

guys
i used to run ICS on a stock ROM and it was quite stable. However, after trying some ROM's, I'm facing different problems on different days - sometimes battery just dies overnight, it freezes, chrome takes forever to open up, etc
Can someone recommend the most stable ROM on Jellybean?
Thank you!

soon as you stray from stock you increase the chances of bugs. The devs here rock im not knocking them, but if you are looking for no glitches or bugs just stay rooted stock or unrooted even. Or go bakc to what worked fine for you

I've been using the 1.991 version of paranoidandroid for a few weeks now and can honestly say I have had no issues outside the occasional you would get with any factory stock ROM.

Been using Codename Android (CNA) 3.4.1 for almost a week now with Franco's 248 nightly Kernel.
Running smooth, good battery. Just loving it. Can't go back to stock anymore.

I am running CM10 nightly and have had very few problems, one unexpected reboot...and one screen lock. Jelly Belly was quite stable...was using that b4 I moved to CM10. Jelly Belly is very close to stock.

You want stable JB ROM? Stick with Stock then. No custom ROM can be more stable or smooth than that. Also stock kernel will go really nice with it. Don't flash any custom ROM or kernel, if customization isn't what you want.

I'm using CM10 9/04 nightly + Trinity stable 35 (1344/384 I think?) and having no issues that I've noticed yet and battery life is doing well. First day of using this nightly and I'm at about 72% with an 4 hours on battery and an hour of screen time and a bit of Google Music. I have been on WiFi all day though.
Forgot to mention. This is the Verizon GNex with the stock battery.

Ran Liquid for the longest, and now I'm running Affinity. Give it a shot. Custom toggles, logical series, rock solid.

I've been running Xenon on my gnex and nexus 7 for a while now. I find it very stable and I like the customizations added.

You could get Stock pre-release Jelly Bean ROM here.
Again, if stable and smoothness is what you need and not the customization, go with stock. I know pre-release means that it might be buggy, but from what I heard, it is very stable and feels like a official stable release.
Have a nice day

For sprint stable its tomorrow

I've been using xenon hd for at least 1 month now, and I can honestly say that I have never had a single problem, issue or bug with his rom. I've flashed at least a dozen others since Jb was released (don't want to say the names) and they all have had issues.
If stability is important, stay away from kernels. Unless you want to experiment.

LiquidSmooth RC7, if you're still looking.

Most stable 4.0.4 ROM?

Whats the most stable 4.0.4 based rom? I love AOKP and ive been running M4. But im looking for more of a newer system based rom. The battery life from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 i believe is a hell of alot better.
Flash the newer build of Aokp its rebased off 4.0.4. It's been out for quite a while

Well you're like one of the only ones with issues. And the OP asked for a stable ROM , not a lame-not ROM. I'm personally running CM myself , just threw a suggestion let him test the waters and pick the best one that works for him.

Official CM 9, is bulletproof stable. And has longest lasting battery life out of the dozen ROM's I have tried.
I can't even imagine how awesome RC1 of CM9 will be.

Another vote for stock 4.0.4. Currently using my own build of aosp. Deodexed, rooted+busybox. Quite stable.
I've bounced around to several of the roms mentioned here and I have to say all of them have been pretty stable. I've used several for over a month, others weeks at a time. I'm on MIUI now.
All are pretty stable. The differences are the extra features and speed. Some stagger while others zip along. I'm sure most work well now. Most will have the same common extra features normal in a custom rom. Most of them look and feel the same after you get it setup.
My problem is I'm getting bored. The roms are so stable and perfect that I have no reason to flash and most devs aren't putting out many updates because of this. Only CM9 and AOKP update nightly. Others go for weeks. I'm was running Axi0m from March 4th. I finally got the itch to switch to MIUI.
I'm waiting on Gummy to release a new rom and Team Bamf.

Looks like CM has more popularity then i thought. Ive ran with 4.0.4 AKOP but it seemed problemmatic to me. I also run francos kernel. And always update to the latest nightly.
Maybe ill give Build 31 a shot again. Im tempted to try CM9 now though. Although i thought with 2nd init roms like CM9, atleast thats what they called them when i had it on the droid x. It was feature filled, but battery life was terrible.
AOKP b31- Francos Kernel
I recently bought my Galaxy Nexus. Immediately rooted it and tried a couple of ROMS. I was looking for stability with features.
I finally installed Milestone 4 and found it stable; however, not smooth or fast enough as 4.03. After seeing all comments in the AOKP thread I tried B31. Have been using it for 3 days with Francos Kernel Milestone 2.
I love the features, stability and smoothness with which the ROM works and have had no FCs or reboots at all.
In my view-If you want stability with a host of features then, nothing better than AOKP B31 with Francos kernel.
All the best with the upgrade.
Bluetooth Problems
Did CM9 and/or AOKP get the bluetooth problems ironed out that I read was introduced by 4.0.4? That's one feature that has to work for me.
Using Liquid Smooth Rom 1.25 - Pretty stable and fast, a lot of neat features ...
Flashed imoseyon leanKernel v3.2.1 but my phone was heating up (Didn't even touch the processor speed or voltage ) now using Franco Kernel (Battery life not good) - Give it a try, maybe the above mentioned kernels might work for you ....
Now going to try Trinity .....

What exactly are you disappointed about? Try the latest official builds of cm10 or aokp. Not a nightly or a kang.. an official build.
Try Paranoid, it looks pretty wild!
SHHHH!!!! You're not allowed to say that!
I've done the same as you. The only change I've made to stock is run nova launcher to make it a bit more purdy and personalized.
Minco is pretty nice since it's really close to stock but faster, but in the end I'd rather just run stock for peace of mind (not that Minco was unstable).
Stock based roms perform the best in my opinion. Although Bamf Paradigm and Wasabi Miui run well for me, if I run them with trinity 1344 kernel.
IMO It seems like CM and AOKP stay in the nighties phase for way too long, and bugs and stability issues take too long to fix. This has been the case on most phones I have owned. They are great innovative roms though. I find it rare when a Rom with loads and loads of features runs as good as stock based roms do. I love having features, but performance, stability and battery life are above all features for me. I can just find mods myself anyways and add them as I need.
If stock is what works best for you, run stock, there's nothing wrong with that.
Why do you want people to change your mind?

Fast reply, I don't even know what that is but anyway, Android comes down to user preference, if you enjoy stock, then rock it dude, I've tried only a handful of roms here but stock gives the most solid performance 9 out of ten times. granted I'm running Slimbean now, but I like to flash every two weeks and this rom is pretty great aside from bootup time XD.

[Q] Which JB ROM are you using and Why?

Hey guys currently just stock and rooted, getting antsy for something new, but like to stay samsung based any suggestions?
Im so glad you posted this.. i was about to post a question on a really good stock based rom. I'm currently using the cm10 one and it works awesome so far no issues but i would like to go back to touchwiz.
Just that the stock rom has a couple of things i really don't like. Mostly in the settings but if there was a way to tweak it i would go back.

Jedi Invasion is the best JB based rom I've tried so far. You can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020994
no bugs or glitches, runs perfectly, and its stock based so you get the same look as before. It's also extremely debloated. Just remember to flash Ktoonsez kernel after flashing the rom.
It may not be stock based but I have always loved CyanogenMod and I'm currently using the Unofficial CM10.1 and the only problem is that the camera doesn't work.

I've tried a bunch. My favorite so far for both performance and battery life is AOCP.
I am not a fan of TouchWiz, but on a lark I flashed the Jelly Bean TW-based Loser ROM yesterday, and I have to say I"m impressed. I might stick with this for a while.
I really like cm10 but the wifi issues and screen wake up made me flash back to stock. Still trying to find a good stable rom with decent battery life. I would rather it have fewer features with no issues than tons of features with tons of bugs.
I'm really liking LoserRom everything works out of the box, it is fast, and the battery life is looking pretty good with KT kernel. But that's all I'm looking for right now. Stock based with killer battery. Check it out.

I have used many. I have used AOKP, LiquidSmooth, CyanogenMod, ParanoidAndroid, and ParanoidKANGDroid. I'd say out of all of them, AOKP was the smoothest, I just don't like it. On CyanogenMod, it would hang and reboot and sometimes WiFi was extremely weak, and it doesn't help that most AOSP ROMs are based off of CyanogenMod. I am waiting for CM10.1 to see what happens.

Is it possible to use a different version of the camera? OR do you have to use the version you are on? For instance I'm on 4.1.2 and like the camera with stock 4.1.1.
I'm using Slim 3.1 and I love it, I'm getting over 1 and a half day's worth of battery with normal use, texting, emails, surfing, youtube etc.
Using task650 aokp 4.1.2 with his underwear kernel is rock solid, so much customising and been getting retarded battery life usually 1.5 days with about 6 hrs on screen time. Plus able to use it for everything lots of calls, texts, navigation, wifi, youtube, gmail. Its awesome

The unofficial CM10.1 JB 4.2 for d2att (ATT version of S3) has camera working as of this morning. Apparently photosphere isn't working, but that's a pretty unnecessary feature IMHO. So far it's my favorite ROM, and aside from having to tinker with the data settings, I haven't run into any bugs.
I'm running CM10.1 (4.2.1) with KT747 and I'm getting the best battery life and performance I've ever gotten with my phone to date. This also doesn't have any of the black screen issues or anything which kept me away from vanilla android roms for awhile. All the 4.1.2 ROMs I've tried sofar speak a lot to the future of android - INCREDIBLY smooth and fluid, great battery life and awesomely stable. Especially considering they're all still in beta, it's very impressive.
Only issues are that the camera doesn't work and data can be temperamental every so often. I'm currently at 1day 5 hours, 2 hours screen on time with 46% remaining. 192mhz-1728mhz with ktoonservative.
I'm actually gunna give Task's AOKP preview a try right now. I was running it before but left because of the black screen wake issues. I was hesitant about using the preview because of the call echo issue, but it's also present in CM10.1 apparently..

[POLL]How often do you flash a different ROM?

Curious what everyone else out there does. I flash nightlies on the same rom for a while, but I only stick to that rom for a couple months. So I guess a hybrid(you can pick multiple choices)
Probably every two or three weeks.
-Sent from Marino's Galaxy Nexus-
I wait after a major update to Android until a stable ROM appears, so maybe every 3-4 months.
I was quite a big flashaholic for some time. But the thing was that I, while being on a different ROM, forgot how fast and smooth stock actually is. When you're using a different ROM, placebo effect takes care of the rest. Suddenly, 1 day of battery with 3h of screen time seems amazing, while in reality, stock can do just as well. And since I don't miss any of customization, I'm good. So, to answer your question, I'll stay with stock till I buy a new phone. No more custom ROMs, no more flashing. And I Iove it.

I used to go from one ROM to another but finally just settled on CyanogenMod. Now I must admit I dirty flash all the time, I ,mean I flashed Cm10.1 over a stock ROM with no issues it ran perfectly. I haven't used Titanium Backup in a while. In addition I use CyanDelta to flash nightlies so I don't really have to worry about reinstalling apps.
Miui updates weekly... so usually every week so long as the build proves to be bug free.
On my sgs2 I flashed different ROMs every month, but on the gnex all I've been using is miui (stock android is boring to me, plus I like all the new features).

I find stock kernel the fastest and most reliable. Sure, I could get better battery life with custom kernel, but since I mostly charge my phone overnight, 10 hours of battery doesn't make much of a difference. And stock just works. You don't have to worry about SODs or reboots or anything. Perfect for me.

For most of my time with the GNex I have been on stock but with a custom kernel, though the stock kernel does work really well I got used to the extra things like headphone volume boost, colours/contrast, fast USB charge, etc. If anything I favour those features over battery life, though to be honest I have never experienced bad battery life no matter what ROM or kernel I've tried.

I prefer 4.2.1 on my GNex (toro). But it depends which ROM you install. I generally like XenonHD version of 4.2.1, but wasn't able to come up with a configuration that gave me really good battery life. Also, reading other threads it appears that several other 4.2 1 ROMs still have various issues. I installed Nexus Evolution 3.0 last night and it's been fantastic so far. Super smooth and every bit as slippery fast as CNA 3.8 (4.1.2) had been.... And IMO that is the best 4.1.2 toro ROM out there, and this is with over 130 apps installed.
BTW : I found that Apex Pro beta feels smoother and more responsive on the ROM than Nova does...
Back to your question though... 4.2.1 is great and I wouldn't go back to 4.1.2.

I prefer the stability of 4.1.2 for the way i use my phone. I seem to have better range with 4.2.1 but deal with flaky WiFi, Bluetooth and occasional lag. Battery life seems equal between the two for the way I use my phone. If they fix the radio drivers and smooth out the UI, I would prefer 4.2.x.
Wow. 4.2.1 shouldnt be in a stage like you people say, it reminds me that 4.2.1 is beta, which it isnt. i dunno if 4.2.2 is out yet but it must fix this bugs. also, Google is starting to not care with the GNex anynore because the N4 is out.

4.2.1 works fine for me. No noticeable performance difference than 4.1 and battery life is the same as long as your phone settings and usage remains the same. I use rasbean now but ran stock for about a month, performance is the same, I just prefer the theme (with white settings mod) and features of rasbean.

I had random reboots with 4.2.1 stock and my nexus was quite laggy, so I came back to 4.1.2 CM10 and everything is smooth again! :good:
Do you know if the reboot bug has been solved?
Using 4.1.2 for a change but as mentioned by Many i feel it is very stable and better suited for Gnexus

4.2.1 has been stable for me. Do you know if your reboot issue was reported to Google? A lot of reboots on 4.2.1 were attributed to an app causing it.

I'm on rasbeanjelly 4.2 and I don't have any issues whatsoever. Its fast, smooth, responsive and all around awesome. So far its the best 4.2 ROM I've been on. But I'm thinking about trying evolution out. Looks tempting....4.2 is growing on me. I didn't like it all that much at first but now, wouldn't go back to anything lower then that

I've stayed with rooted stock 4.1.2 because I've read a lot of reports of trouble with Bluetooth under 4.2.1, especially when trying to connect to a car stereo. This has included poor sound quality.
Is anyone running stock 4.2.1 that is having solid Bluetooth performance in general and with their car stereo in particular? Also, I depend heavily on Stickmount to mount a flash drive via a USB OTG cable. Has this been working for folks under stock 4.2.1?
4.1.2 because it's more stable and less buggy

I have yet to even try 4.2.1 lol due to what I've read about it on here. I'm so happy with xblack that I don't feel the need to
4.2.1

I just got mine while on travel the last week, so I'm still on 4.11. Will the freeze issue described here that (mostly) pertains to earlier versions be solved when I go to 4.12? Some there said that it shouldn't even be happening in 4.1, so I'm beginning to wonder.
