Hello everyone.
I am looking for a relative best rom and kernel combination for daily use which focus on heating and battery life.
I’ve tried AOKP38 with franco185 and did't change the setting of CPU model. The temperature raised to almost 50 degree. I only open the instrgram and twitter for 10min.
I also tried the slim4.0. The heating is much better than B38 with franco. But battery life seems not good.
Wound you mind recommending the best rom and kernel combination you have ever used?
Thanks! Sorry for my bad English.
I too will like to know. I will be watching this thread very closely.
After browsing through many threads where talk regarding heating issues take place, I'd say underclocking are undervolting are your best bet.
If you don't play any 3D games or do anything that requires some real juice from your CPU, I'd say you'd be fine with underclocking to like 1036 MHz and maybe do some slight undervolting.
If you only want do to the underclocking part, and if you got heating issues with Franco, then try Morfic's trinity kernel.

185 seems to have quite a few problems (see Franco's thread). I jumped ship onto the 181 kernel - wireless tethering (encrypted) works, the GPU is fast enough, and it doesn't seem to overheat. I don't use the kernel for benchmarking (although..... ) but rather, to improve the GPU performance.
And I'm on stock ICS, not AOKP.

I only pay the Temple run sometimes. Does this game require a high CPU?
And how about the battery life on your nexus? The screen on time? 2H?

How about the battery life on stock ICS?
I changed the franco nightly to milestone4 and now heating is gone, even play Modern Combat 3 us no problem. AOKP with milestone 4 is best for me bro! ;-)

I've been underclocked to 1036MHz for a while now and I've never had and problems running any games. NOVA 3 and similar games runs great. The only issues I've had are when I get a call or SMS. Then my phone starts to lag, but eventually picks itself back up.
Every device is different. What works great for someone probably won't work great for you. You have to try them all to see what suites your phone the best.
There are already many threads discussing this, please use an already established thread instead of creating a new one.

I've OC 1,8 GHz... I know that when playing games, phone's temperature raises, but when I'm playing NFS HP it almost burns me. What can I do with that? Does custom ROM may reduce the overheating?
And which ROM is the best?
reduce your overclock to 1.4ghz...really no need to go above 1.4ghz currently
yeah, but with 1,8 GHz is the best score in Antutu...
So in the end its just about benchmark score..

Antutu means nothing......im not understanding this recent fad in basing your phone on Antutu etc etc maybe im just old school i dunno.....you asked about overheating and i gave you an answer......benchmark scores mean nothing at the end of the day....
Ok... and what about the best ROM?
search for it and install which u find its best for you
dont just say thanks hit thanks if i helped

there is no "best" rom, rom's are down to personal preference. try them all see which you like.
Overhaeting at 1.8ghz while you are playin a game that stresses the RAM? Are you serious??? that is your phone's way of telling you that it cant take it, reduce the OC before it blows up...!

it wont blow up, but it does reduce the life of the CPU ALOT
Ehm... I'm searching for ROM with good battery and RAM tweaks, smooth and fast

sorry i should be straight forward and not scare people like that...
I'm running the Titanium Kernel build#4 and occasionally take it up to 1.7GHz; the handset does get extremely hot (battery temps were somewhere in the range of 50C-60C, I think) so I never OC that high anymore. It probably cant be very good for it
As for "best" ROMs, it really does depend on what you prefer, but flashing the Titanium Kernel and running the Lionheart governor seems to give the best performance and battery life at a 1.4GHz OC, for me anyways.

That is true. The CPU can withstand ~100°C but not your hand. Standard phones has plastick fascia, so you are not sensing the heat that much as in our aluminium V. The phone can withstand that much, the question is how long...
As for me, I use the phone at stock 1Ghz, and for me it is more than enough.

If you're talking about governors, I want to ask you, which I/O scheduler is the best? Cause first time I'm seeing something like "I/O Scheduler"

can anyone recommend a kernel thats simple that provides a smoother experience for gaming and UI. i know JB has project butter but i notice in some games like ski safari, there are stutters that i don't experience on my galaxy s2 (exynos). do i need a kernel with 512mhz gpu for smoother gaming? or a lower step (higher than stock) is enough? im asking this because in my experience overclocking gpu or cpu too much causes more problems sometimes.
use any of the trinity kernels and it will take care of any lag in games.

try CM9 or other ICS based ROM
Try and flash some roms, and you will definitely have your answer.

I wouldn't use ICS for Gaming, since (even) Temple Run is lagging very hard... (never tried, but people tell Temple Run is lagging..)
I advise you to use Cow Rom v2 OC because it's overclocked to 1,8GhZ (make sure you download the OC Version!), which should be more than enough for Games like for example. Modern Combat 3. The rest of the Rom is fast, too. Not only gaming of course.
BUT(!), don't expect the Battery Life Time to be high..! 1,8GhZ is alot... and that will eat alot of battery...
You got to keep that in mind, and come over it if you want really good gaming...
Im not a gamer at all, not playing anything ! Busy with school, Photography, Design etc. So I don't need that, and can't give you a really "good" advise, but I told you what I think could be the best Rom for Gaming.
Enjoy Gaming

It means overclocked.
It tweaks your processor to run at higher speed, which means, your device will process data faster than usual

Normal Version is 1,4GhZ
OC (Ovetclocked) is 1,8GhZ
For gaming you need 1,8 GhZ
Happy gaming

Thanks For all you guys for helping me.:highfive::good:
As I know, Cow kernel is only better in benchmarking, those ROM with stock XXLM8 kernel may be better a bit in term of battery life & real performance (ps: if the game requires a lot of processing power, the OC kernel such as Cow will be better, anyway the original 1.4GHz is already powerful enough for quite a number of games, mostly it lags because SGW is lack of RAM)
Please think twice before overclocking as it may reduce your CPU&GPU lifespan
Good luck
I've compiled Resurrection Remix with over clocked CPU (@2.2ghz) and GPU (@800mhz) and it's not that much of an improvement. I'd say PUBG runs little better now and some improvement in benchmarks. Well, I wasn't expecting miracles either but let me know if anyone wants an over clocked ROM or kernel. I am trying to add exfat support (I'd be happy if any devs can help me with that) as many user wants but I'm getting nowhere for now.
I can even take it to next level with CPU @2.4ghz and GPU @850mhz but I think that would be overkill.
I'm interested

I think it's little less than the stock ROM but now it depletes faster while gaming (as gaming pushes all cores to max).

Nice. That kernel would be great to VR
Well , good idea is to make only OC kernel and then setup it via kerenel audiutor eg. -- OC @ gpu would be nice because it is weakest part of MZP . I've just made benchmark on stock oreo antutu 7.1.3 = 75716 pts. while on latest Cosmos 3.2 rom result was 81703 pts.
i would be interested in a undervolting one

Yeah, that would be interested. I was playing wirh that, I think it was, Atrix time... Don't expect miracles but could add a bit to battery life. And a bit more in freezing the phone or crashing the apps

Under volting is not a good idea, it creates a lot of issues. To increase battery life use smart pixels, build prop tweaks and also amplify and greenify. However for screen on time, lowering resolution and smart pixels are best options.

Yeah, nice idea
I think stock runs on 8.0 while Cosmos on 8.1 so that might've improved it somewhat,
I wish if there was some tweak to OC GPU of normal ROM.

I think a kernel with overclocking possibilities would be nice. In fact, what I would really love was to see a port of Elemental X or Blu Spark kernels.
