Rooted and flashed rom. now when I reboot, it keeps boot looping. I went back to stock, still boot looping. any ideas?
Try flashing the newest radio. I think I read somewhere on here that older radios were causing a boot loop on some of the newer sense roms, although I'm not sure why it's still happening after going back to stock. I'm assuming you wiped data/cache before installing these? Anyway, try flashing the latest radio, worth a shot.

Yep, run revolutionary again. Once you start it, revo will say something like "what do you think you're doing you're already s-off blah blah" then it asks if you want to install CWM. Hit y and it will download to your phone/install.
Can I flash the newest radio without cwm? when I did the update, and had to activate my phone, it did the bootloop. not sure if i'm screwed at this point.
answered my own question. thanks all for your help!!

I just installed HBOOT .92 on the root of SD card. It installed because it is listed at the top of recovery. But when I try to reboot, it keeps coming back to the bootscreen. I've tried powering down, but still comes back to bootscreen. What have I done and how can I get out of this? First time I've ever had what seems to be a potentially serious problem.

just restore through recovery... you got a back up right!?!
after you restore, it should be fine. updating HBOOT wipes your kernel which is why this happens.

Okay, not real sure what I did, but seems that I got out. Was finally able to get back to recovery screen and in the process of doing a nandroid restore.
Regardless, curious as to what I did wrong? Almost scared to attempt again. I guess I don't really need it, just feel like I need to have the latest and greatest of everything. Thanks for any input.
So, do you install the kernel right after flashing the new HBOOT, but before rebooting to avoid the problem again?

it's honestly not really a problem. just nandroid before you update HBOOt next time.
OR
not sure if this works but have a kernel backed up on your sdcard before hand. just flash the kernel from recovery and in theory you should be good to go with a nandroid restore.
ok i have a MAJOR problem. im kind of a noob at this stuff so im still learning. i was messing in my system files trying different phone.apk. i think i may have deleted something essential. when i turn my phone on it doesnt get past the boot animation. my phone was rooted with unrevoked 3. but everytime i try to install a new rom using clock work recovery, it gets to the part where it "opens update pakage" and just stops and goes back to the first menu screen of clockwork. i dont have a nandroid backup either so i cant even restore.
Did you wipe everything before flashing?
Which rom did you try flashing?
yes i wiped everything. i tried multiple roms like cm 6, and stock. none worked. also. everytime i try to load up the pc36img.zip nothing happens it says "no image or wrong image"
You should try using Amon_RA instead. Just flash it using ROM Manager. Good Luck.
is it possible for me to change to amon? im not able to get past my boot screen on my phone, so if it requires me to turn my phone completely to use it, then i cant. i dont really know much about amon.
Search for the Amon_RA thread. If you downgraded your HBOOT, you can flash from Fastboot. If not, you can try an RUU.

. I'm using ROM Manager with ClockworkMod, and every attempt leads to the screen flashing code for a few moments, and going right into the ClockworkMod Recovery main menu. it wont let me flash ANYTHING period. I have HBOOT-0.97. i dont know what can be the problem. and Amon RA is too complicated for me to understand right now cuz im still a noob. :-(
I made a nandroid backup, went into recovery mode, and flashed the new Combo (radio, wimax, pri, nv). It said "reboot from menu to complete installation" so I did. It said "writing image" and seemed to be going fine, but then instead of rebooting into android, it went back to recovery and said "formatting cache..."
But it never finished, it just sat at formatting cache for ages. Eventually I just rebooted on my own, but now it just freezes at the splash screen and I have to do a battery pull. I tried: restoring my nandroid, wiping cache, everything I could think of, but I can't boot into Android no matter what :'(
Can someone please point me in the right direction???
Can you still get into recovery? If so try flashing a new PC36img.zip
yeah i can get into recovery. what does that zip file do?

Itll reflash everything. You will lose everything but at least it should get you back up. What hboot do you have? Remember which version software u were running?
After flashing it, even though i lose everything, i will be able to restore a nandroid backup right?
And can you point me towards the proper zip file?

Ya it should get your radios and recovery in order and then you can recover your nandroid. Theres so many version softwares out right now that it depends on alot of things. Which hboot are you running? Evo hardware ?
when i boot into recovery it says:
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.97.0000
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
does that tell you what you need?
ur issue is the same i had last week.
you cannot update the radio, pri, nv or wimax of a rom that doesn't support it. resulting in the situation ur in now. what u must do is boot into the recovery, and flash all the old components u had before.
i had this issue when i flashed a new 3.70 rom that also updated everything else. the new rom ran fine, but when i attempted to "roll back" and nandroid my older rom, it resulted in boot loops or stalling at splash screen.
once i reflashed all the old components my older rom booted fine.
and when it says formatting cache, its actually done, but doesn't say it. hit restart device in the recovery and let it boot.
so go to the radio archive thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
and d/l and flash older each component, (wimax, pri, nv, radio) then nandroid ur latest back up.
dont update ur hbOOT, ITS UNNECCESSARY.
ull be fine.

Ya give that a shot, everything I find are stock PC36img.zip that will put you back to stock but probably unroot you.
so if i flash the newest radios and everything, and then flash a rom that i know requires those radios, it should start up fine as well, correct?
Any luck?

Recovery work perfectly fine, let me try flashing some other rom.
Also, because this might be a bad radio flash, can reflashing radio hurt?

Could you give more information so I could be of help. Like what Rom, kernel, recovery anything specific...
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I recommend you flash the previous version and then do a full wipe....next, flash a rom...then when that boots you can go back into recovery again and restore a nandroid if you would like....

Using Clockwork 2.5.1 (?, flashing right now) so I can't check.
Was on MYN RLS4. Flashed the bundled radio zip linked above, now in this situation. Currently, I'm flashing to RLS5 after a ADB push of the zip file. Edit: Was on BS#6 Kernel
If this doesn't work, I'll flash a deodexed stock 3.70.
Any more recommendations?
edit: Looks like I got past the HTC Evo 4G screen, just waiting for the MYN boot animation now.
edit2: I booted up, thanks for the help. At least I can rest knowing that my radio flash wasn't borked.

Ive had the same problem today on two different evos, with two different recoveries! Both times I just booted into recovery and ran a full nandroid backup, then restarted and it stuck in white screen.
First was with amon_ra recovery. I pulled the battery after it stuck on white screen and it rebooted fine.
Second time was with clockwork. I just now pulled the battery and rebooted..... and it looks to be sticking again.
Both are running Fresh Rom. v3.5.01 I think.
Do you have the SDK installed and a usb cable? Hook up the evo, then do: "adb logcat", power on, and post the output. Note: it sounds like it is looping so watch carefully and when you see it looping hit "crtl+c" to stop logcat.
Do this! download this to you sd card http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PXIYUNSY than boot into bottloader, let the phone search for the file update and this should get you up and running. The problem doing what you did is that that works when a different kernel not htc kernel.
good lookin out

What's the purpose of doing this? Just like a RUU, right?
yes! But this should give you all that you are looking for, is much easier.trust me!
You will not Loose Root.
You lucky son of a gun, my old evo wouldn't even not into recovery. Just bootloader. After stressing out for hours trying to fix it I finally got a replacement
The same thing happened to me and your link worked like a charm. I was just wondering if after I did this would I still be able to try and flash a different rom? or am I stuck with this one? I am just wondering....as you can see Im pretty new to the rooting game.
Basically, if you update your radios, you have to also update your rom to 3.70 build otherwise the phone won't get pass the bootanimation screen. Normally, you would update the rom then update the radios. Also, to nandroid or flash back to 3.30 build, you have to downgrade the radios back to the version used for 3.30. I was stuck on bootloop with new radios if I flashed any rom below 3.70, but downgrading the radios to previous version allowed for 3.30 nandroid restores.
Ok thank you a bunch for the info!! you were a life saver lol
Same Questions
Ok so I did what you said above and loaded that file onto sd card and went into bootloader if worked and i managed to get into recovery and flashed fresh and got the phone booted all way but I want Warm two point two so i flashed that version 4 and it wont go past the white HTC screen what can I do
I'm rooted, unrevoked; I'm currently stuck in a boot loop. I can not reach recovery. I can not get to my rom. I can only access bootloader.
So far I have taken these steps to cure my problem:
Ran RUU software in Windows (with and without sd card in evo)
Flashed RUU as PC36IMG in bootloader
Cleared Storage using fastboot in command prompt
Cleared Recovery and then Flashed Amon Ra's Recovery and Clockwork using fastboot in command prompt
Flashed Amon Ra's Recovery and Clockwork as PC36IMG in hboot
Flashed Sprint Lover's as PC36IMG in hboot
Flashed eng-PC36IMG from Toastctfh's Old Root Tutorial as PC36IMG in hboot
Each of these methods flashed successfully as far as I can tell... yet I still go into an infinite boot loop.
Before the bootloop this is what I was doing:
I had the initial CM7 nightly installed for about 2 weeks. It was buggy, and a few days ago restarted and deleted all my texts, and desynced from google. On rebooting, google apps acted as if I had never ran the phone before - it asked me to enter google account info, etc, upon reboot.
I decided CM7 was too unstable and so I wiped data and davlik, and flashed CM6. When CM6 booted google apps was already on, before I had even flashed it! Anyways I figured I wanted to give MIUI a run, so I wiped data and davlik, and flashed MIUI. It ran fine for about two hours, and then rebooted out of nowhere... and never came out of the boot loop.
I'm really starting to sweat this as I have gone three days now without a phone. Does anyone have any ideas that may help me? Thanks.
hmm, you could flash recovery through bootloader i think

I had same problem, the radios messed my phone and was stuck in a boot loop and mess with my usb drivers as well so I couldnt charge my phone...i had to buy spare battery charger and flash different radio and rom through hboot
I'm pretty sure Sprint Lover's and RUU have the latest radios in them
You shouldnt be bricked and if you flashed an RUU, you wont have root anymore, nor will you have a recovery img. I would suggest running the RUU again. As long as it finishes without errors, you should be fine. Now, just a quick question, what are you seeing that makes you think you are in a bootloop??
Are you sure RUU removes root? I've RUU'd through my computer, as well as flashing an RUU zip as PC36IMG, and I still have S-OFF. If it would turn it to S-ON, that would be amazing.
your ruu file could be bad as well .. it happened to me once and had to redownload...for some reason it wasnt as big as it should of been
