If I understand correctly, Android boots normally but you always see the 'android is upgrading' notification? Could you post a screenshot of your "about phone" screen?

Nothing out of the ordinary with your build or radio version. I did spot a battery indicator that's not stock. Did you flash a mod?

Try fixing permissions with cwm, if that doesn't work clear the Dalvik cache so Android will rebuild it on boot.

Flash it from ClockworkMod recovery
Use this guide to root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19465384&posted=1#
Install RomManager from the market then flash ClockworkMod recovery from there and flash the .zip from there
Or just wait for it to come OTA

screenshots showing update size
from all accounts so far, the update has only really made changes to the kernel. so the update would only be small.
I'm stock so I just applied it and it seems fine. No obvious changes. I tried a USB game controller and it still didn't work so I think its just the volume bug fix (although there are alot of patch files in the zip).
I don't know how to apply it manually I'm afraid now we don't have the /sdcard partition accessible via USB mass storage. Could try renaming to update.zip, putting in the root of MTP storage, booting into recovery (hold vol down and power) and see if it can be applied?

Do you have TWRP or CWM recovery installed? If so a flashable .zip can be found here I have tried it and installed flawlessly. Wipe Cache/Dalvik. Flash update. Reboot. Enjoy.
Edit: All your data will be preserved as well.
Hope that helps.

Are you running stock ROM?
Do you have TWRP/any other custom recovery installed? If so here are the steps:
1)Download the update.zip you want. It will probably go to your downloads folder... you can keep it there or move it to root folder if you like.
2)Reboot to recovery
3)Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
4)Flash update.zip
5)Wait while it updates
6)Sucess! Reboot and enjoy your update!
I haven't tried the way you linked, I've only done it this way. Someone else can probably confirm your method.
Hope it helps :good:

In my understanding, limited as it is, you need to have a stock recovery to install the OTA updates correctly. You would still be able to download them, but they would fail on install. So if you like your custom recovery, someone will usually have a flashable update shortly after release. If I am incorrect on any of this please let me know as I am still learning about all of this.

[ROM] Cyanogen Mod 10.2

I have not personally tried to flash this file but i did some digging to find out and it seems as if this is the unofficial cyanogen mod release for the ls980. i personally am not a big cyanogen mod fan so I wont be flashing this but if someone is a fan and wants to give it a shot you can let the others know how it worked for you.
as with any rom please make sure you create a NAND before you attempt to flash anything
As before I am not the creator of this rom or of any programs I post I am simply finding the information for you guys. I have not tested this ROM so i can not confirm that it is working. Flashing this ROM could brick your phone yadda yadda.

Guys the gapps should be the same for all variants of CM 10.2 including the Verizon, Tmobile and ATT version. There is nothing specific about those gapps that are carrier specific.
I am sure if you go to the Verizon, ATT or Tmobile development pages you can find out which gapps they are using for CM 10.2 and use the same one.

It had the unsense 4.4.2 rom already installed but my wife does not like how you have unlock the screen then hit answer call to answer incoming calls. Did you flash a cm compatible kernal? Aosb is based on cm so you will need to use a cm compatible kernal.

Do I need to remove the TWRP recovery and flash the CWM recovery?

This should be not related to the TWRP I think. What stage is your N7 sticking at? Just black screen?

I've had a great time with AOSB. However, I used MultiRom to check it out.
Here is my video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvxGtKkWO0I&feature=youtube_gdata_player
When it first loaded, the screen didn't show up until I touched it. Kind of weird but no biggie. Make sure you clear all cache and stuff after flashing for the first time. Definitely make sure you wait a good bit the first boot up. Good luck.

I choose a "factory reset" after flashing the rom. Need I do the factory reset after flashing the kernel?

No. You shouldn't. Whenever I flashed a kernel everything stayed the same. I've had good luck with elementalX and franco.

Although I flash AOSB rom without gapps, it also stays "AOSB" logo.
I have this problem too.
