Hi, I'm planning on resetting my HTC Wildfire to "Just out of box" condition but I honestly have no idea how to go about it nowadays. I haven't touched my Wildfire's software in almost a year so I'm out of touch with a lot of the processes that are involved in changing the ROM/software. I'd appreciate some help on the matter and I have a few specific questions to start with.
1) Do I need the "shipped ROM" for my Wildfire? If yes, where do I get it? And how do I find out which one to get?
2) How do I "install" the ROM once I get it? I'm currently using Cyanogenmod 7, Revolutionary, and Clockworkmod Recovery.
3) What are the pre-flash steps that I need to take before I install the stock ROM?
4) After I flash the stock ROM, can I update it to the latest available firmware through OTA?

Nice. I didn't see that while I was searching the forum for a guide. I'll try that one out. Thanks a lot.
Update: I check it out and it didn't state where I can get the stock RUU for my phone and how I can find out which RUU to download and install.

usaff22 is very active in the forum (he already noticed this thread ) - I'd suggest to ask in the guide's thread (so other ppl might find the information easily, too).

Wildfire(Buzz) ROMS can be found here
The RUU you want to install should support your CID.So first of all check your CID.
Here are the steps :
>Install the SDK and set up the ADB
> Reboot your phone into the Bootloader via ADB
(Connect your phone with the pc, make sure it says "USB debugging connected", go to Android/platform-tools/ & then press shift while you perform a right click with the mouse, then choose "open prompt here", type
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
& press enter.Your phone will reboot into the Bootloader)
>To test if your phone has been detected by running this command
Code:
fastboot devices
It should show your device.
>Then run this command
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
Your CID will be shown.
Now you can verify your operator/region here.
By and large RUU’s are named as
RUU_Buzz_<HTC/OPERATOR>_<REGION>_<VERSION>_Radio_<RADIO_VERSION>_release_<RELEASE_CODE>.exe
Eclair RUU versions begin with 1.x
While Froyo RUU versions begin with 2.x
For more details go through 3xeno's thread
Hope that helps.

Hey everyone.
This is my first thread. I hope I've posted it in the correct forum. I couldn't find any information about this errer in the forum. If there's one I would be glad if you could link it to me
My problem is:
I've tried to run a RUU-update while I had a custom ROM, but it went wrong. Error 110
I couldn't acces the recovery or the ROM. But then I searched the forum and found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341794
I had the same problem as the above link.
I am now able to get into the recovery and into the ROM, but every time I reboot I have to use my computer (and type in cmd: fastboot oem boot) in order to acces the ROM.
I've tried to run the RUU from a different computer as suggested in the thread about the EVO, but it didn't work.
The RUU I tried to run is the following:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...io_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe
So how do I "install" or make the bootloader appear again?
Thanks in advance.
If you need any more information I will try my best to give it to you.
edit:
When I'm in the Rom I can't reboot into recovery or bootloader when holding the power button down. I only see the screen with four small triangles in the corners...

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
1. No. Your phone is not bricked (Touch wood)
2. Make a goldcard. You need it. (Check goldcard section for help)
3. Set up ADB (android de-bug bridge), it's useful when things go wrong.
4. RUU's are DANGEROUS to your phones well-being. Only use them when you absolutely have to.

Does somebody know which official RUU can I install to my phone, if I have a CID: HTC___032 ?
I am asking it, because I have screwed up my phone a bit, and a want to return to stock. I do this PD98IMG.zip stuff, but after the blue and the the yellow bar have filled in the top right side of the bootloader, i says an error: Main version is older. I am trying the European WWE 3.12.405.1 rom, but I know that mine says I am on 3.13.0.0 in the RUU installer. What should I do?

I have read that thread (search for Ace advance hack kit AAHK link is removed form xda)
Then choose the option root.
A goldcard (goldcard creation process is completely integrated in this procedure)
Temproot
To downgrade the mainver on the device
A HTC signed firmware package from a suitable OTA update.
If he said fail try it again (me did it the 3 time)
When jou phone complete s- off is choose the options back the stock. You must have a ruu for that.
[ READ CARFULL THE MANUAL !!! You are not the first with a corrupt boot loader.]
Your problem is that you have it unlock with HTC dev. If you use that method you are not able to flash radio and kernels. Whitout the kernel he won't boot. Hope that that your helps

Running the hack kit is easier than setting up adb.
You could try uninstalling the htc drivers and installing them again, reboot the pc. And yeah, you might as well set up adb while you are at it if you really want to learn stuff over here at xda.
Sent from a dream.

I'm on the same version/ I have bootload error140 and need to downgrade phone or find this version RUU
I have white screen pain....
So I decided to root my android desire hd phone and avail the benefits of blackout ics rom on my phone.
This is how I approached.
I unlocked the bootloader from HTC Dev.
I have the adb with me, adb devices, adb restart bootloader are working absolutely fine and cell phone was detectable.
I downloaded the aahk and blackout rom from xda forums.
But I am not able to use the aahk properly. It says in instruction to do a fastboot flash boot boot.img from command prompt with the source being the place where aahk is placed on the PC. But it still doesn't work, and probably this is the root cause of the issues I am facing.
I tried downloading the CWM to boot into recovery, but that also gave me an error stating cannot find the adbwinapi.dll file.
So after that, I did a factory reset of my cellphone and truly I got my first success and I was able to get into the bootloader and recovery.
I can reach to the bootloader screen (white screen+3 andro dummies), but when I select the fastboot option It says cannot find image(which image, is it referring to boot.img). I deleted the cache on my cell phone, but again things are pending from here on.
The description on this screen says S-ON and some other things. Does that mean the security is still on?
I have the rom loaded on the sd card with renamed to update.zip, but when I select update option from the recovery it again says cannot find image, rebooting!(what image this is referring to).
And after all this sequence I am down with a cellphone now degraded to froyo from ginger bread and back to stone age!
Please advise.

You have not done anything fine...anything at all. My advice is that you'd better start reading hard buddy or you will end up with a 300 bucks paperweight.
Use the guide in my signature to start.
Tip 1:If you really downgrade to froyo and you were running gingerbread, you might have messed the bootloader..can you boot in hboot in normal times or takes ages?
Tip 2:The Hack Kit can not be run with an unlocked bootloader...that is what the manual says. The manual is there just to avoid this.
If your bootloader is still unlocked, then you have to install CWM recovery, put the rom in the sdcard (no rename is necessary) and then flash the boot.img from where that file is located (I usually put in the PC desktop) and not from the Hack Kit folder.
Then, from CWM flash the rom normally and you will be up and running.
Unlocking the bootloader will not give you S-OFF....

I had this tutorial open side by side in your signature while I was doing it. (the noob one)
I can go into Hboot normal times.
I am writing it down here from the main website from where I downloaded the aahk. And it says
Unlock the bootloader using the HTC DEV bootloader unlock process.
Download att-ace-30-isboot.zip and unzip it (don’t forget to check MD5)
fastboot flash boot boot.img
relock bootloader
But just now you told me that it should not be run on an unlocked bootloader! I am a little confused.

the phone is now stuck at signature verification. I reasearched for it but could not find a viable solution or an exploit that can overcome it(though everyone seems to be suggesting to install CWM recovery)
Not taking any chances to convert my phone into a brick! Whats the best way.

I am following the steps sequentially as mentioned in that link by sashank. The bootloader is partially unlocked due to the HTCDEV process.
Couple of other things that I noticed. The android version is still at 2.3.5 however the device was shipped with Froyo. My mistake to have said that it is downgraded to froyo when I did the factory reset.
The facebook for HTC Sense thing is jacked up big time, I cannot find that in peoples app.
The device has (believe me) gained speed. pretty strange.
Once I reach home 3 hours from now, i'll update this thread and we can connect through Teamviewer so that you can have a look.hope thats cool!
Thanks

Hi XDA,
I have a VZW HTC One m7 that is seriously outdated, as in, it is still on all original versions from when I bought the phone last year the day it was released on Verizon. That day I took the phone and unlocked it (before Verizon blocked the unlock from HTC Dev) and rooted it. I put CWM recovery on it (version 6.0.3.6). Much later I also got it S-Off.
Currently I have Android 4.2.2, Sense 5.0, firmware 1.10.605.8, and baseband 1.12.42.0731 (I assume this is the radio?).
Because I have been rooted all along I have not been able to take the OTA updates for the last year.
How do I go about getting updated to the current versions of everything? Need step by step please as I'm pretty much a noob beyond what I have already done.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

You need to update firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46506621&postcount=2
From the thread above you most likely want this.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358539478
Instructions:
Place the zip in your fastboot/adb directory on your computer.
Put the device in fastboot mode
(Volume down and power until menu appears, select fastboot using power button)
Connect the device to the computer
Enter the following commands from terminal/command prompt in the fastboot directory, one at a time:
fastboot oem rebootRUU (this puts the device in RUU mode)
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip (rename file to firmware.zip)
It will say that the update did not finish, to flush again, so repeat the above step:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip

Hey andybones,
So I just went through the steps you outlined (very very helpful btw, thanks again) but I have a question now. In the bootloader I can see that the OS version has now been updated to 4.10.605.3 and the radio to 1.13.41.0421. So it appears that it worked. However, when I boot into the UI and go to Settings>About>Software Information, I only see the radio version as being updated. The build version (I assume is the firmware version) still says 1.10.605.8. Is this to be expected? Did it actually work?
Thanks,
Steve

In the bootloader I can see that the OS version has now been updated to 4.10.605.3 and the radio to 1.13.41.0421. So it appears that it worked. However, when I boot into the UI and go to Settings>About>Software Information, I only see the radio version as being updated. The build version (I assume is the firmware version) still says 1.10.605.8. Is this to be expected? Did it actually work?
Thanks,
Steve

The newest rom on this thread is the most recent stock rom for VZW m7. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485319
Just flash it from recovery, like Andy said. You may want to wipe data going from an older sense version to a newer one though, just a warning. Not all apps will dirty flash over, and some can cause issues.

Very welcome, Steve, glad you are up and running the latest firmware now!
As for the numbers you are right on the money, the baseband is controlled by the device so no matter the ROM, your baseband will always be the same as what is flashed. As for the ROM name this is dependent on the ROM, to be direct and specific, the build.prop found in /system folder.
So technically, that is why you see ROMs saying things like mine for ex: Bonestock ROM v4.3, etc..
then you will get the build number, you can always change this to w.e. you'd like and tell ppl they are running so and so and they are not, lol, just explaining, but anyway, yes the build number will change depending on the ROM you are using, since you are now on the 4.10.605.3 firmware, your best bet, is to either,
1) if you want Stock
use the stock base ROM for 4.10.605.3
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485319
actually the same as the one used for the firmware
2) or others, here is link to my ROM.

Thank you guys so much again for all the help. I have successfully upgraded everything now. Now running the current firmware, Philz Touch recovery version 6.48.4, and santod's 4.4.2, Sense 6.0 Stock ROM. Everything is working like a charm now! You guys have been so helpful, couldn't have done it without you! I will save all this information for future use so I don't forget how I did it next time.
Thanks again,
Steve
I recently got my HTC One M8, and I was trying to follow a tutorial on htc-one wonder how to (I cant link it). It links to other tutorials for pre-requisits, and I fell down the rabbit hole trying to get pre-req after pre-req. I spent about 2 days non stop on this and I'm pretty sure I screwed up pretty bad.
I'm think I wrote the recovery image to the boot sector by accident...or something like that
What I have:
1. . My computer recognizes my phone in fastboot. I can transfer files to and from. I am not sure if adb works.
2. I can access TWRP by hitting "Recovery" in fastboot. I think this means I have a custom recovery successfully installed.
3. The InsertCoin rom (insertcoin-m8_5.0.6_ART) is installed and I can boot to it. I was not going to keep it, but I needed it for one of the steps. Wifi does not work so any files have to be added manually via usb.
4. My bootloader is unlocked
5. I have S-ON
6. I have Minimal ADB and Fastboot installed and it works. I also have Hansoon200's All In One HTC One M8 Toolkit
7. This is a brand new phone so I don't care about my data.
I'd like to get back to stock so I can try to run Firewater (will not work without internet. Wifi is broken on the rom) and get S-OFF (needed for Google Play Edition). How can I go about this?
I apologize in advance, I've been at this for days. I wouldn't post unless I was really stuck. I appreciate any help you can provide. I will gladly provide any additional information
Thanks

couple of things ... firewater is over it no longer works. Sunshine will most likely s-off your phone (for $25)
If TWRP works it's not on the wrong partition. you have no wifi becouse you did not update your firmware .. it says this in every rom thread.
so your steps now are find the nandroid and stock recovery to go back to stock Here > COLLECTION of Stock backup's

Thanks! I'm going to try this. Will post with updates
So I'm going through that thread, and I think I know what to do. The main problem is finding the correct files. Then I use the terminal, fastboot getvar version-main the result is blank and fastboot oem readcid returns SPCS_001. However there does not seem to be a Nandroid matching those values. Any ideas?
