Yeah the two parts are fused together. I read some stuff about cheap/fake gorrila glass units on ebay so I sent mine straight to Samsung for repair. Cost 180$ including shipping to and from. Even the "oem" screen digitizers cost 200–300 on Amazon or cell repair sites.

Sorry to hear that. You can get part and fix it yourself. Save some buck or take it to bestbuy or radioshack.

I am also sending mine in for fixing. What I would like to know is if they will replace the metal frame that goes around the phone mine has a big dent from the fall I think its called the bezel? Anyone know if this gets replaced when samsaung fixes the screen.

Yeah it took a good week. It looks and feels like brand new. They even replaced the button at the bottom. And about the comment of just getting good a refurbished one in return... Check your serial afterward. I got my original phone back. And to folks who offer to fix these my main concern is genuine oem parts. Some ppl have said after they fix there's the phone simply doesn't feel like it's oem state.

Dose anyone know if I can replace only the digitizer?? All the tutorials I see online is replacement of LCD and Digitizer..
Digitizers are $25 on ebay Digitizer and LCDs are over $200...
After further investigation I found out why you can't replace just the glass..

Samsung Galaxy S3 Screen Repair
Acutally there are several tutorials on just replacing the screen. It is a bit tedious and will require patience but is very doable. From all I see, the outer metal/chrome/etc frame is part of the digitizer is and will not be part of the screen only replacement. Screen assemblies alone are around $30 on Ebay

This might help: How to replace JUST the glass on a Galaxy SIII

link? I need one now.

the price for the replace screen is so expensive

YOU CANNOT JUST REPLACE THE GLASS OR JUST REPLACE THE LCD! THEY ARE FUSED TOGETHER!
IN ORDER TO UNFUSE THEM YOU NEED AN OVEN DESIGNED JUST FOR THAT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO IT ON YOUR OWN!
Buying just the glass is a scam and will not work!!!!!!!! YOU MUST BUY THE GLASS WITH THE LCD FUSED TO IT ALREADY!

Galaxy Note Digitizer

Looking for a Digitizer for my note! I just broke it LCD looks fine and touch screens works perfect. Just need the front glass. But I don't have paypal so I can't buy on ebay!
You can't replace the front glass only. You need to purchase a complete display assembly including the glass, digitizer, AMOLED display, Wacom digitizer, home button and the frame. It costs around 250 dollars.

I'm a mobile device service tech too (I actually own the business) and you are correct. You have to replace the entire assembly. It is not possible to separate the screen and digitizer without damage... those people on eBay know full well that you can't and shouldn't be selling them.

You can if you have the right tools. I broke my digitizer awhile back and bought the digitizer only. Theres actually a thread around here. Only thing I didnt have was some good double sided tape that would have made everything alot easier.
The biggist issue on ebay with digitizer only are they dont come with preinstalled tape already attached. But a heat (blow dryer) and some good plastic(always only plastic) tools its not that difficult.
I had to purchase just the digitizer because when I cracked the screen, the full assembly wasnt available yet. Its not hard, just takes a little patience.
I eventually converted my note into a white version. Picture below is my old lcd with installed digitizer. I would still suggest to buy complete assembly. I have a guy on ebay that sells them pretty cheap and ships fast.
And daddymatt your missing out on some business.

I have a completely intact Galaxy Note. The only thing that doesn't work is the motherboard. So, you can put your motherboard in this phone, and you would be good to go! I think there are a few videos on youtube about it taking it out and such. It looks really simple to do. I'll sell it to you for $250, if you're interested PM me!
Take a look at http://www.cnn.cn I've bought parts from them before and are reliable.

Note 2 broken screen repair

Samsung charged $190 to fix the screen, the touch screen and everything were working fine but the screen broke.Did anyone get the screen fixed for less? I shopped around locally bu they quoted 350 $...lol..

If brave enough they sell just the glass online for around $20. But you have to heat the phone up enough to melt the adhesive and separate the digitizer and glass. I'm not brave enough to try it myself though. There are videos on YouTube showing how but looks to hard for me to even attempt. Other than that I haven't found a cheaper alternative. Cracked mine about a month ago. $200 for a fix through insurance and $200 for a replacement online.
Wish i knew the glass was only 20 bucks i would have certainly went that rout. I brake mine on Saturday, and bought the glass with the digitizer for 229.00 i didnt have any insurance and i was getting the same 350 and up repair cost when i called around.
so mine screen with digitizer will be here to tomorrow, should be a simple fix.
Here is one for $13.99

I wouldn't be pissed they didn't mention the downside to doing this you will not have the oem glue so the display wont stick like oem there is a high chance you will have dust under the display also the phone will become randomly unresponsive this is my experience from the gs3 glass replacement as for many others

You gents are getting good at this ....
Could someone provide a contact link to the Samsung repair folks ??
I've got a 2nd device that needs a screen ...that I scored for free ...and I'm not gonna risk it myself ..
I figured the repair still falls below value ...then I'll sell the device and make a buck or two for my trouble ...

for everyone on this page, the reason the repair price is that way it is is because since the phone is oow by condition you have to cover the shipping, parts and labor.
since samsung is a "all or nothing repair center" even though both screen were not broken, they are going to replace both screens and any other internal parts that have been damaged to prevent shipping back a device that is defective.
after the repair the device will be placed back into full warranty or if it was out of warranty by date when sent in it will be put into a 90 day extended warranty from the time you recieved the device back from repair.
also if you attempt a repair at home and manage to damage the device and after evaluation the device is labeled BER or beyond repair your devices imei will be added to a list and no repair will be able to be made to it.
as for the number to contact for repairs, call 1-888-987-4357 and theyll be happy to help you with a price quote and possible repair.
hope this helps clear some stuff up, have a great day guys!
repairing the note 2 screen
i generally do it for about 80-125. the 80 is only the glass but the loca glue needs to be replaced with the glass in order to get the touch functionality to work properly. i aso have a video how to repair the note 2 and note 3 glass on youtube. i do the glass and glue for 125 on note and 150 for note 3. hope this helps. youtube "samsung galaxy note 3 glass only replacement & LOCA bonding " to see the video how to repair the glass

Cracked Screen.

Hello all,
A few hours back i cracked my note 2's screen as i fell from the stairs.
Can someone tell me the exact price in INR for its replacement? The touch works fine. Thanks :'(
I need to get it done tomorrow.
From what ive researched and I havent done alot... its about £130 for the glass + digitzer...
You cant just replace the glass as the digitzer is glued to the screen.
My advice... claim insurance if you have it covered

Well, I got mine replaced at a Samsung Service Center in Bangalore, India a fortnight ago. Samsung charged me 6,850 INR (around 115 USD) for it. One thing to remember is that they replace the glass and the digitizer as well.
Call up a service center nearest to you, and check with them if they have the digitizer+glass with them. I was lucky as the one they used on my phone was the last one in their inventory, and they fixed it in 2 hours. If they don't, it takes a day or two for them to get the screen (digitizer and the glass) from Samsung.
I had cracked my old HTC Incredible S's screen too. But Note II's screen seems a lot more fragile than the HTC's, and I never bothered about fixing it myself: it is a difficult thing to get these parts in India, and to get genuine parts in good condtion (the courier/shipping folks are very adept at breaking even an mp3 player's screen!) is almost next to impossible.
Good luck!

It Cos-ted 6,400 for replacing the Glass and Digitizer where in the service center don't have the option to replace only glass they denied to change only glass as only glass was cracked but functionality was perfect so had to change both from BANGALORE SERVICE CENTER.

The service center folks get the complete set (digitizer and the glass) from Samsung when they place an order for a screen. I guess it is Samsung's way of getting a little extra from its customers. And it was the same with HTC as well.

[Q] Is My Digitizer Broken or do I have main board issues?

I have an LS970 and I recently dropped it pretty hard onto a desk. The bottom quarter of the screen stopped working after the drop along with the capacitive touch buttons at the bottom. I was able to deal with this but today when I sat on the couch my phone fell again and a crack went down the middle of the digitizer. Now only some areas work and I am not able to unlock it. Before I buy a new digitizer and lcd I want to know if it could have also been main board issues that made the bottom part of the screen not work since no cracks appeared after dropping it on a desk. Thanks
I am about 99% sure its ya digitizer/LCD ... The main bored is tucked well in the middle of the phone ....I have pictures up on the sim card mod thread if u wanna c ...

It's the digitizer. I have a wonderful wife whom I love very much who has broken her screen three times. Each time that the screen broke, the digitizer went with it. It has to do with the fact that there is essentially no separation between the two on our phones, so drops that damage the screen almost always damage the digitizer.

I just picked up a broken LG Optimus G off craigslist and toward the bottom of the screen it has a hairline crack. Also the capacitive buttons do not work either....my problem sounds exactly like the OP.
Can anyone suggest a good place to buy a cheap digitizer/glass/ LCD?? I'm lookin on ebay and they seem to be about $80
Thanks,

I've been looking around ebay too and they're all about 80 for the cheapest. I checked out a few phone repair websites and prices are much higher there. If you find anything cheaper let me know. I plan on buying it soon.
EDIT: The best I found on ebay was 78 was from the US and 69 from China. I know they are all from china but it's just a shipping time thing.

Based on the dialogue I had when my wife's screen broke not only with the insurance carrier but also a repair shop, replacing the screen or digitizer on this phone is always going to be very expensive because both parts almost always have to be replaced together. $80 sounds very inexpensive to me based on those conversations.

parts for galaxy s3 L710 and how to replace them

as many of you may know the glass on the galaxy s3 l710 not sure about the other models is not drop proof I think its just a scratch resistance glass not drop resistance glass I've seen many of post and youtube videos where folks have dropped there phone including me. and get crazy quotes to replace it. so I went digging for other options. first a little over view on the hardware of the phone there is the glass, touch screen digitizer, middle chassis, components that sit on the back of the middle chassis including mother board etc. and then the back cover.
the below youtube video shows how to take phone apart, its not hard just make sure u have the right tools. (very fine phillips head screw drivers etc)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHELvmoX0NY
this video explains why its wiser to go with the replacement touch screen digitizer assembly replacement vs glass replacement if done wrong you can brake the digitizer so best bet go with the digitizer assembly replacement.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkQZHU-SRC8
now here is what I call the exciting part, I have been hearing crazy prices for the touch screen digitizer between 300 and 500 dollars which is funny to me because the phone does not cost that much so the link below is to a website that sells parts for the phone at a very low prices.
http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale/...30&groupsort=1
I see as low as 112 bucks. I ordered from the alieexpress before some of them ship the tools you need to disassemble the phone. I well be ordering my touch screen digitizer screen for the l710 in a week or two I'll keep you posted on the switch out. I cant wait to get it done I know a couple of phone part venders in the mall who swear you need to go the route with the heat gone etc and they can do it for me for 300 dollars yea right lol
