I have an issue with very low WIFI signal on AOSP roms, searching the forums brought me to a solution on stock roms - *#001# to disable the wifi power saving option.
Do AOSP based Roms have a similar setting which i should be tweaking. I have had this problem on both Cm10 nightlies & AOKP.
I have tried various kernels without any luck.
I don't think it is a hardware issue coz on stock i am getting very good wifi signals.

Id like to know as well. My wifi only works on stockroms.

Hello,
I have been using Sense-based roms without issue. Stock HTC, Android Revolution and LeeDrOiD_HD. Wifi sucks on them all until I activate "Best Wifi Performance" under WIFI Advanced Settings.
When I say WIFI sucks, I mean it's basicly useless. GMAIL even says "No Connection". Market fails, web browsing is like back in the 14.4k days.
Once the "Best Wifi Performance" is on, things work as expected.
My problem is when I use a non-Sense ROM, since that setting is nowhere to be found. I would love to switch to a Gingerbread ROM, but useless WIFI makes this impossible for me.
Anyone else having this issue? Any possible fix?

I have no problems whit wifi on my DHD did try a few roms Leedroid 1.41 en works like a dream then i start using Modified CyanogenMod 7.0 Beta Nightly #20 From McDV en same no problems but i like the CM 7 more its cleaner whit no sense but wifi is good here on both roms did upgrade the radio to
12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2

No problems with wifi here either, on CM 7 at the moment but to be honest never have had a problem with wifi even on stock rom
I need some assistance trying to narrow down what is causing my issue. I posted this in the LiquidSmooth thread but I wanted to post here to get more exposure and perhaps someone more knowledgeable can chime in. I believed this to be a JB kernel issue but I also tried CM9 on my phone and the problem persists.
Yes, for some reason my phone will randomly disconnect from my WiFi connection. the actual WiFi service will remain on; I can see available networks but it will not reconnect to my saved AP unless I toggle WiFi off/on, and even then it will randomly disconnect again. The same thing happens with CM, and ALL CM-based roms. I have tried Faux, Imoseyon, Trinity, stock, and Ktoonsez kernels and none seemed to fix this issue.
Stock TW roms, both ICS and JB, keep my connection just fine. I also used the same CM nightly build on my GS3 and my Galaxy Nexus for testing purposes. The GS3 will lose connection while the GNex does not, so I figured it had something to do with the kernel since those are usually phone-specific.
As for the WiFi signal, I don't have any issues neither at work nor at home with TW-based roms. This only happens on AOSP. Any insight you guys have regarding this issue is appreciated. Thanks!

I ran a logcat but to be honest, I do not know what to make of it. would anyone happen to understand where my issue is?

I am unable to use WIFI Tether on any custom rom other than Touch wiz based rom.
Got an S3 through Rogers(SGHI747M)
As instructed, I've clean installed all the roms out in Original developement section including LIquid smooth, Carbon, AOSP Tasker.
The only non touch wiz rom that seems to work right now is Liquid smooth RC7 4.1.2 version but that too with the help of an app on play store.
Where am i going wrong here? Ive tried going through google and xda local search and have found no concrete solution to this problem.
Currently still running RC7 4.1.2 Liquid Smooth.
The network ssid seems to show up but cant connect when encrypted. Sometimes with these custom roms, even the ssid wont show.
Any recommendation guys?
Ibelive on some of the new ROMS Cm 10.1 for example there were issues with wifi tether while useing WPA and LTE tethering. I though some of those issues had been worked out. I may be wrong on that though. Does it work with open security?

Open security don't work either. Some claim that wifi tether will not work on cm10.1 based roms with Rogers and others have quickly debunked that theory but without having a possible solution to getting tether to work in cm 10.1. I really don't know who to believe anymore.
I would like to use unofficial CM11 by @Mustaavalkosta or taktik by @randomblame for daily driver but no matter what I tried i couldn't fix weak/poor wifi reception/signal problem with CM based ROMs out there. I have flashed the latest radio for my desire HD (12.69.60.29_26.17.14.11_M) but still have the same issue. On the other hand, if I flash a sense ROM like SVHD v2.1.0 or stock HTC, wifi works flawless and I don't have poor wifi signal issue. So that means problem is actually not related to the radio version, right? It would be rather due to a glitch on CM based ROMs maybe?
Does anyone have any idea why this could happen with CM based ROMs? Does anyone experienced weak wifi signal reception issue with CM based ROMs before?

Wi-Fi speed is good? For me, it is very slow.
Hi!
I love the CM flavor but keep reverting to Sense-based due to nightly bugs. Thought I'd might throw one out here this time to see if anybody can assist me.
I'm on the latest AOKP right now and it's a blast. Great rom, but my wifi keeps dropping and disconnecting.
Is is possible to do something about this? Don't really know what debug info to provide. I'm at a level where I can master flashing new roms, but the inner workings by the likes of switching kernels is beyond me. I remember back in the day we used to flash radio roms on the Leo HD2 and it had sometimes a major impact on the performance of not only the gsm data and calls, but also the wifi drivers.

mine solution was to change the setting, keep wifi always on sleepmode, had the same problem.
