VIDEO IN POST 2
First things first
S-off and Root required.
At the moment, Aroma scripted Roms are not yet compatible on slot 2, unless restoring from a Nand backup, which is pre configured
IF YOU WANT FULL DUAL BOOTING ENSURE SECOND ROM IS "GAPPS INSTALLED" AND WITH WORKING INTERNET {DATA/WIFI}
1. ensure your happy with the current state of your main/daily rom
2. NAND - back it up
3. download, install and configure either the free https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.drx2.bootmanager.lite&feature=search_result boot manager lite app
or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.drx2.bootmanager&feature=search_result the pro version
4. NAND - back it up (not necessary, but advised)
5. download your secondary rom zip
6. open your downloaded bootloader app and slide accross to slot 1
7. install your chosen rom (do not wipe anything on first install)
DO NOT BOOT SECONDARY ROM
8. NAND - back it up, again (if your low on sd space, delete your earliest nand, and then next etc etc)
9. open boot manager when booted, and slide to slot 1, and boot rom
10. "Ta da". your now dual booting,
If you find that your phone can't create boot.IMG , navigate to the root of your sd, find the boot.IMG file, delete it, then restart bootmanager , and it should create it without problems
if you ever run into problems, pull the battery, boot to hboot, select recovery, and flash the update.zip inside the phoneRom directory. It writes your backed up boot image. thanks too $MyName for making this common knowledge
PLEASE READ, ALL INFO HERE
http://init2winitapps.com/stories/BMManual.html
IF YOU FIND YOU CANT SWITCH BETWEEN ROMS, ITS BECAUSE YOUR NOT SIGNED INTO GOOGLE , AND OR YOU DONT HAVE A DATA/WIFI CONNECTION,
BUT DONT WORRY, WE MADE BACK UPS, IF YOU WANT TO GO TO YOUR FIRST ROM AGAIN, JUST RESTORE YOUR NAND
Thanks to Pauly_k , for bringing the app to my attention

I successfully did this from scratch yesterday so thought i would help the noobs out by giving a small guide to the process from start to finish.
No gold card required.
I used Windows 7.
1. Install HTC Sync 3.0 to get the correct HTC USB drivers http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=982&news_id=776
installed on Windows. I didn't do this to start with, and was wondering what i had missed.
2. Uninstall HTC Sync but leave the drivers (they won't uninstall if you uninstall the main HTC Sync program).
3. Download Unrevoked 3.21 from http://unrevoked.com/recovery/
4. Optionally download Amon-ra Recovery for Desire http://code.google.com/p/amonra-mod/ and CM6 nightly (which i am using and is very stable) and the Gapps package from http://cyanogenmod.com/nightly (HDPI version is the one you need for Desire) and copy the 3 files to the microsd card. You can also change recovery later on if you wish, so don't feel pressured to do this now.
5. Run Unrevoked now while the phone is not connected, so you can change the recovery from Clockwork to Amon-ra if you choose.
6. Connect HTC Desire using the USB cable. Unrevoked will automatically detect the phone if the HTC USB drivers were installed correctly.
7. Unrevoked will now do the necessary flashing of the recovery and if all went well, you should be in root mode.
(optional) 8. Hold down the Volume down + Power buttons to boot into Amon Ra recovery. Wipe data and cache, then wipe dalvik cache, then flash the cm-bravo zip you should have. then flash the gapps.
OK I think the most fair thing to do here is to delete all the flaming, and just leave the guide.
The OP took the time to post his guide which may be helpful to some people. I realise there is already a similar guide to this, and that asking for donations in the post was probably not the best thing to do. This has been rectified by the OP.
I'll move it to General and hopefully this will be the end of this. I'll leave a 1 day redirect in the Develpment forum so those involved can see the action taken.
If you have any issues with this then please PM me and let me know.
Thanks.
I have had an unbranded Desire HD for about a month now, and I have a Fonic (Germany) sim card installed. However, I do not recieve over the air updates. Is there a way to get the updates some other way? Preferably without rooting and all of that. I'm a noob in that area. Thanks in advance.
What is your current Android software version?
My software version is 1.32.405.6
I've tried to check for updates manual, and the phone says up to date. Since it doesn't appear that I get OTA, what's the next best way to get the phone update? Preferably the most user friendly noob way.
Your software is upto date. The update HTC released was removed as it caused a lot of problems for a lot of users.
The most user friendly way would be to simply wait.
If your sure you want to get the update you will need to root your DHD, remove the security (S-OFF), flash a custom recovery and finally flash either a custom ROM that has the updates, or the bugged HTC ROM.
It may sound like a lot of work but if you read through all the relevant guides in the Dev section, you will soon be up to speed. Plus should you need it, you can ALWAYS ask for help.
you got it all there on Leedroid topic (v 2.0 in this case)
Q: How do I flash this ROM?
Requirements
* You will first need to ROOT your DHD.
* Apply Radio S-OFF/, S-OFF
* Install Clockwork Recovery: The easiest way is to root your phone as above and download Rom Manager from the Market, which has an option to install C'Work Recovery.
Once you have done as above
1. Drop LeeDrOiD_HD_V1.Xx.zip on you SD card
2. Check the MD5# matches the one in post 1#
3. Ensure you have more than 40% Charge & Unplug your DHD.
4. Boot into recovery (either via rom manager or by powering up with the vol- button held)
5. Select "backup&restore" then backup your existing ROM. (usually referred to as a "Nandroid" backup)
6. If you want a clean install, scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" (this step is recommended but not always required)
7. Select flash zip from SD card
8. Select the LeeDrOiD_HD_V1.Xx.zip
9. Wait for the flashing process to complete and reboot
FYI. It is recommended that you flash radio 26.04.02.17_M2 to work the LeeDroid base 1.72 Roms effectively, failure to do this may result in poor battery, Wifi & mobile connectivity perfom
so...you ownload the rom...from this link
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wof7dbw87cfven0
(if that doesn't work...try this link to a database for HTC DESIRE HD...you got all you need there
http://zantekk.de/~desire_hd/ )
you put the rom on your sd card, reboot on recovery, choose from the menu to install specific ZIP file... reboot
after that
download the radio, put it on the tools folder off your Android SDK directory, open a command prompt and flash it...you got a tutorial on develeopment section about that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295
Thanks everyone for the help!
The purpose of this thread is to put together a sequential list of steps to take on your HTC DESIRE from the moment you unpack it. Feel free to post corrections or additions.
1) Is your HTC DESIRE sim unlocked? If so then skip to step 2
Go to this thread if you want to sim-unlock your HTC DESIRE
2) Rooting Linux HTC desire unrevoke rooting:
Connect phone to a Linux PC (if you have only windows use a bootable linux cd)
Download unrevoked3 and untar.
From the terminal:
Code:
wget http://downloads.unrevoked.com/recovery/3.32/reflash.tar.gz
tar zxvf reflash.tar.gz
cd reflash
chmod +x reflash
sudo ./reflash
Don´t touch the phone, in 2 minutes you are done.
There is also an app on the market called ‘Quick Boot‘ which you can use to quickly get into recovery from now on.
3) (obsolete, unrevoke3 does it also by default) S-OFF your HTC DESIRE (needs rooting done first) Here is the guide
http://alpharev.nl/
http://www.miui-au.com/installation/extras/alpharev/
4) Update your radio (needs rooting done first)
Now you can update the radio click here for details
(Note: there are reports that 32.54.00 may be buggy use the previous one if you have problems with 32.54.00)
32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27 should be OK
and make sure you have a matching RIL
5) (obsolete, unrevoke3 does it also by default) Recovery image
Unrevoke rooting already installed the clockwork recovery
But if you prefer
the RA-desire GSM recovery
6) Backup (Nandroid).
Before flashing a ROM its safe to take a backup, just in case if something wrong. ClockworkMod Recovery allows you to take a full Nandroid backup of your phone.
Turn off your phone, press volume down and power button, and it'll take you to HBOOT menu.
Go to Recovery by pressing volume down, and press power button to select. Once you're in ClockworkMod Recovery menu, use your trackpad to scroll and select.
Go to backup and restore, select backup, and it'll backup the whole phone which can be later recovered using the recover option.
7) Now you can load your rom of choice...

The reported problems were with 32.54.00 radio and MIUI rom, have you tried the MIUI rom with that radio?

Battery % showing in batter icon itself

aftr installing that recovery ur internal sd is swapped with external sd ...,so if u have 16 gb card like me then u can use 15 gb for installing games that wil be amazing
and while dropping down your notificationbar... like samsung and sony mobiles u wil get quick settings such as data wifi torch sim 1/2 etc...
and new awesome themes(HTC sence themes) installed in system itself...
If u need this rom i wil give u the link... don worry it wil surely work and i have stock rom also if anything happens u can restore also reply in the post if u need the custom rom
Hi prasath,

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6WBFlAKqe30cW53Z3hKZ1g3b2M/edit
Steps for installation :
Once the .zip file for the ROM is downloaded from the Internet and uploaded onto your external sd storage via USB cable, you’ll need to turn off your phone and then turn it on to boot into the recovery. Booting into recovery takes a different button combination than just the Power button, and this varies among devices as well. To cover all devices, you’ll probably be fine if you simply hold all the physical buttons on your phone while pressing the Power button, such as Power + Volume Down (and Up just to be sure) + Home (if it’s a physical button).
Once the recovery has loaded, you’ll need to navigate its menus to wipe the phone and then flash the .zip file onto the device. For ClockworkMod Recovery, the correct options are wipe data/factory reset and install zip from sdcard. Once this has completed, reboot the device normally and it should load your custom ROM.
After successful installation .. click reboot system now and the first boot wil be in HTC White screen for more than 10 minutes after that welcome screen and system setup wil come ... then you wil be having a custom rom installed HTC Desire sv
Note: First boot wil take more than 10 minutes don't remove battery before that .. it may brick your device ....

I wanna upgrade to andoird 2.3.7
1- Can you please give me the download link for that? Because I got a file and it gives error 130.
2- I downloaded two files from alpharev.nl. one of them is img and the other one is zip.
I browse for these two files in Fastboot Commander program. One of them in Hboot/spl and the other one in Recovery and then flashed both. Then I browse for zip file in Full Zip tab and and flashed that one, too.
I was not folllowing a guide. I just tried them, because the monitor was black, I thought maybe these files get it fixed.
I think I flashed "Bravo CM7 r2" files(both of .img file in the zip file). But I'm not sure which files are for my cellphone.
I executed this file "PB9940000_BravoC_hboot_1.09.0000_USC_UTSI" which is for my cellphone, and I'm sure about it, because in flashboot screen I see BravoC and my cellphone is US Cellular. Now the monitor is on, but whenever I turn off and on the cellphone, it is in fastboot screen. When I want to go to the Recovery menu, it restarts.
I think I should copy a PB99IMG.zip file in sd card, but I don't know where I can find the file.
What can I do?
Please help me.

If you don't know what you're doing, find a guide first. If it doesn't make sense -> ask before you try anything.
If you definitely have a CDMA Desire (BravoC without SIM card slot) then read this first...
- You are lucky you didn't actually flash any of the hboots from alpharev. They are for GSM Desires, not CDMA. You would have bricked it if you successfully flashed it.
- Next try understand what you're doing. Even if you could flash the hboot, it won't upgrade your desire to 2.3.7. These only repartition your internal memory.
- It looks like you are already s-off as your hboot version is 6.93.9999. Can you confirm this? Power off and boot to bootloader (Volume down + power), post everything it says at the top of the screen.
What I believe is that your recovery is somehow corrupted. You simply need to reflash recovery, full wipe and flash a ROM which is compatible with CDMA desire (you could hopefully find one with Android 2.3.7 or higher).
- Download the recovery.zip from here, halfway through 1st post: (Desire CDMA) link.
- Extract the .zip, and find the recovery.img file.
- Use a guide, flash the recovery.img through fastboot commands
- You should now be able to boot into 4EXT recovery.
- A custom rom is likley to require an sd-card partition, so backup sd card and partition with 4EXT recovery
- Find a ROM which is compatible with CDMA Desire, copy ROM.zip to sdcard.
- Nandroid backup (backup existing ROM in case you need to recover things from it later)
- "Wipe all partitions except sdcard" within 4EXT Recovery
- Flash ROM.zip
My knowledge is mainly to do with GSM Desire, never worked with CDMA. Main thing you need to realise is that a lot of the development work is focussed on GSM version. Anything you flash / install must be compatible with your CDMA desire.

No one can tell you what rom is the best. Pick a rom, or try a few out, then decide which one suits your needs the best.
Yes you can install android 4+. There are roms in the development section ranging from 4.0-4.4.
I've installed the cyanogenmod 7.2 (Andoird 2.3.7) and it's working ok.
Now I have another problem:
1- ADB works, Fastboot doesn't work. I installed intel USB3 driver for win8 64bit, but didn't work. I also installed 3 versions of HTC Android phone.
2- The hboot version is 1.09. how can I downgrade it to 1.06 or lower? The phone is S-On and because it's 1.09 I can't use Revolutionary.
Thanks
