Please help me with this issue - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have bought an Xperia Arc S (LT18i) and it have been performing well and I have been updating it regularly using PC companion
but now the battery is suddenly draining to 0% and when i put into the charger it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to find that it is CHARGED
and when i remove it it doesn't last more than half an hour until the battery low alarm
and i don't know anything about flashing or rooting
does any one know how to fix this ?
and here are the phone software information:
-Android version : 4.0.4
-Baseband version : 8x55A-AAABQOAZM-203028G-77
-Kernel version : 2.6.32.9-perf
[email protected] #1
-Build number : 4.1.B.0.587

Try another battery
Sent from my LT15i using xda app-developers app

Have you tried repairing it with PC companion? But it more than likely is the battery, though they shouldn't go suddenly.
Another option is to take the battery out for an hour or so. Probably best to give this a try first, it doesn't cost any money or mess with any apps

Repairing via PC Companion, or full flashing via SEUS (SUS now) are your solutions.
If problem persists, then your battery is defected probably.

what is a full flashing ?
and what is the best way to make it ?
sorry but i am new to the android OS
and i also experience heating in the upper zone after a short wi-fi usage for 30 miutes or maybe after a long phone call for 15 minutes

i power off my phone at 70-80% to save power and when i start it again it suddenly turns out to be 1%

but this is for those who downgraded from 2.3.4 to 2.3.2
is this problem caused by updating to the 4.1.B.0.587 and if so does downgrading to GB solve this or there is some hope with ICS :crying:
before i updated last time the phone was amazing but now it is doomed

Can you try installing a generic .587 firmware?
You can download it here:
Generic Trade Central Europe 1 (4.0.4) (1254-2716)
https://hotfile.com/dl/167361348/43349db/LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2716).ftf.html
You can flash this using Flashtool, if you need any help with it I will write you short and easy to understand instructions.
But first download the Sony Update Service and flash your phone over the official software. It's easy to use and all the instructions are within the software so you dont have to search for them. If the problem doesn't go away with sus repair try to flash a rom with Flashtool.

Good!, It's not just me who can't get it to work Someone help use plz
I had the same problem, installed companion and in update option you have a "restore" or " repair" link, after doing all the program said, the Xperia Play it booted again.
I had to do this several after several times, bue every time my Xperia Play booted again
Hey,
In Sony Ericsson PC Companion, I can't get pass the Battery thing,
Posibly your battery is under 50%
How would i no when i can't even boot it or anything?
@sonny788 If it's not rooted and/or you haven't unlocked your bootloader, then take it to an official SE repair shop and let them fix it. It's under warranty then.
You might try another pc/laptop to flash from or uninstall pc companion and flashtool and then reinstall it with all drivers again.
You could also redownload the ftf file or re-extract it.
Are you using version 0.2.9.1 beta of flashtool wich is afaik the only one supporting the xplay.

You need to go to an option in SEUS that'll repair your phone and that should work. Can't remember the actual path to get there and i haven't got SEUS installed on my netbook nor do i have my phone (in for repair, will pick it up today).

Ups....messed up users.
But if bootloader is OPEN/UNLOCKED. Then use flashtool in development section..
This will do this job fine.
If bootloader is LOCKED/CLOSED, then use official update method..if 1st flash unsucsess...then reflash agent.
Error you getting if drivers or Java is not correctly installed.

Search for the middle east ftf it's in here you need to do some searching yourself when you find it use flashtool after reading the guides

Plug your phone into the computer and it will then install PC Companion, once it has done this, click the pc companion icon on your pc,it will then proceed to look for the latest update, when done follow the instructions to install the update to your phone, follow this and you should have no problems.

[Q] My Warranty

I have an issue on my device, it won't charge at all or only connected to charger while not charging at all!
I have rooted my device (Bin4ry) and now I want my warranty back for repair.
I have managed to charge it to 30 per cent and install clean firmware using flashtool.
My firmware was .ftf file that I created myself from Sony Mobile Update Service earlier.
Question is: Do I have my warranty back? Do they have a way to find out I used program called "flashtool" and not "PC Companion". As I said I made .ftf myself and did not download from xda.
Yes ! You have Your warranty back.
Don't worry - be happy
Why don't you just repair the firmware via Update Service?

I don't know, I did not want to wait for download to finish as my battery was 30 percent already and I already had my backups :\
Also, I was afraid that PC Companion would not want to repair phone without 100 percent.
PS: Forgot to mention that my bootloader was never unlocked - no worries there

Great!
PC Companion can repair phone with 50 percent of battery - if I remember correct.
First things first -
1) Are you sure that it's not a problem with your battery or your charger? It might not be a problem with the phone but with the cable or the charger instead. Try using different cables/chargers that you know work, and try again.

Wrong. You can still use Flashtool even with a locked bootloader. If you're new to this, I suggest you use the PC Companion to repair your phone since it is easier.
