Battery use - HTC One V

My Battery Use, after 14 hours is around 44 % Now.
Been using Wi-fi for most of the day. Is this normal ? or am i having some issues with the battery ??
Plus , the screen % varies from 72 to 75 for me . even though i've kept it at the minimum brightness and with animations/auto rotate off. Am i missing something ? What other options to reduce this % ?
Cheerio

Whoa that's way better than what i get...i get like 12 hours 30 percent

Yea same here.
But if you're still worried you could make sure that auto sync is off, I hear that takes a lot up. Also 14 hours and ~50% battery isn't that bad, probably could run for at least 20 hours considering your wifi has been on. Which will give you enough time to recharge over night.

Ok. so this is normal
And i was actually using a Galaxy Pop before One V . the screen/display used to be only around 30-35 %
One V always shows 70% or more .
What other aspects comes under Screen ? apart from brightness and animations and stuff

Is your phone overclocked or have a custom kernel/rom?
However try with tweaks or battery calibration

The, first, thing even i got a data plan was switching off the auto sync ...

[Q] incredibly fast battery drain on xperia arc s.

Hi everyone. I've bought my new xperia arc s on Wednesday and unfortunately I'm very disappointed with the battery performance. It is worse than my 3 years old iPhone. I've read many advices in the internet concerning this issue, but none of them gave any improvement for me. I want to emphasize, that I switched off: wifi, auto-sync, GPS & wifi localization etc. My display is at 30% of brightness. The only functions which are turned on are: 3g network and background data.
However, my smartphone needs to be charged after around 10 hours of not very heavy using (web browsing, ca. 20 minutes playing games such as angry birds or cut the ropę and 20 minutes of listening music player.
Today's performance was just tragic: 5 hours of working (less than 3.5 hours of the turned on screen; only 3g connection on). What should I do to improve these results or maybe the battery is broken and I should send the phone to the warranty service?
Thanks for help

Of course I'll wait, cause I don't want to miss my phone, which looks and works amazingly great. But do you have any tips which would help me to increase battery performance? All I need is 3g or wifi constantly turned on for google talk and facebook messenger.

Are you kidding me? It cannot be that bad.
My phone isn't arc s it's only arc but my battery lasts over 24 hours.
I run wifi and 3g always, usually there's over 1h of calls some web surfing and stuff. With this kinda usage it normallly last something like 36h. If i don't use phone it's over 48h.
You should check what has been using the battery.

I don't know how it's possible. I have only 3g data transfer turned on, while everything else is turned off. I checked in settings and it is screen which consumes 60%-70% of energy in my case. Is it normal? Moreover, could you tell me what is your maximum time of the screen turned on achieved without loading the battery?

Not kidding. Usually if i dont touch the phone, just the normal stuff that use the battery (display, idle etc.)
I use an app called my battery drain analyzer and it shows even when in idle the battery lose about 7%-8% in an hour.

Ill give u few suggestions
Turn the screen brightness to 30 40 % this will give you 4 5 hours more of stand by
Turn off 3g(data internet) it eats as much battery as the screen, use when u need it 4 6h more on stand by
GPS turn it off lol u dont need it to be turned on all the time, use it just when u need it
Im using this setup for 2 months not and its awesome im on 54% battery and the phone is charged before 21h.. i will have 30 + for sure

Hi, just some suggestions.
1. Do you use latitude?? That puts a huge dent in your battery.
2. Do you travel around during the day?? I find that my battery drops a lot quicker when the phone is forced to switch between towers a lot.
3. Try and check the date of manufacture on your battery, It may be old.
4. Did you properly condition your battery when you first got the phone (Takes about a week to do it right but well worth it in the long run)
5. See if you can borrow some one else's battery for a couple of days and see if it makes a difference?? (Isolation testing its called)
Or you could just have a bad battery, that happens.

I'm not sure how much my screen uses battery. I haven't evaluated screen always on usage.
I'm running currently at 46% 23h 3m 54s
voice calls 38% (1h 5m 20s)
wifi 19% (23h 3m 54s)
cell standby 14% (23h 3m 54s)
phone idle 12% (21h 45m 47s)
display 11% (47m 32s)
after these come other less significant stuff like Android OS, Android System, Web browser etc.
In my use are: DoomKernel v20 undervolted -75mv and Juice Defender.
I have also removed many softwares that are useless for me like support.apk etc.

It must be bad battery. If no apps are draining your batt.
read this thread get the betterbattery stats and check it

it will identify it down to a specific app or a module in the kernel, where the drain is coming from.

Man, this is a problem that occours in every android phone, even those ones which have a more powerful battery.
I use an Arc S overclocked (but not too much) and the battery lifes varies a lot, depending on which kernel and which rom I use. The best battery life i've find so far was DoomKernel ICS v4 with Arconium ICS v5. But it was a little bit laggy and now I'm using KA13 with the same kernel. The battery life is not bad, but not really good.
Sony knows this issue and I'm sure they're working in order to fix this on the official release of ICS. Just wait

So, I will share.. radio eats up battery and display does.. so, I don't check my emails frequently.. in fact have network off most of the time.. operate on wifi and sip when needed, gps never used.. display at a minimum with a fairly quick timeout.. power saving features in kernel, undervolted and underclocked more and more as battery expires.
Wouldn't release a rom like I use to the general public bc most would consider the stuff I disabled as broken, but I only allow what I use, when I use it... Currently trying to eek 72 hrs out of this lil phone Not gonna make it on this try though.

[Q] Xperia S Battery Life

Hello everyone. I am new at XDA.
I was planning to buy the Sony Xperia S, but heard a lot of complaints about its battery life. Read a lot of threads but different people have different opinions and problems. So i though i would post my needs and get an idea of how much my battery will last.
My main usage of the phone EACH Day will be:
1. Playback of 720p (or less) resolution video playback, about 1.5-2 hours.
I will try to set the brightness below 40%. BRAVIA Engine Turned ON. Listen through Headphones (not the speaker)
2. Music playback, about 30 mins (through headphones)
3. 30-60 mins of games (using speakers)
4. 10 mins talk time over 2G
Note: I will only use 2G network. Wifi sometimes for browsing. Almost no network data usage. No account synchronization will be used at all. So basically in standby all network connectivity will be off, (gsm 2g network will be just on for incoming calls etc.)
My question is how long will the phone last in total after a full 100% charge?
Hope to get an answer soon.
it will last roughly 10-15hrs. but if youre just playing with your phone it will only last 5-6hrs.

By "Playing" u mean playing games or using the phone for any purpose and keeping the screen on?
By keeping the brightness at around 40% or so I get between 3 and 4 hours of screen on time per charge.
Not sure how demanding video playback is compared to normal screen on, but if playing games as well but I would guess closer to the 3 hour mark than 4.
There is a battery life thread somewhere that has a poll in it which might be useful.
As per u r requirements it will last 5 or more hours

So this MX Player saves a lot of battery by turning off the unused cores and processing powers?
Thats good news.
Could you be more specific about how many hours those movies were in total?
And what was your Brightness Level and was your BRAVIA ON? (Does MX use the Bravia Feature?)
So MX Player has options to save battery? Thats great.
Could you please specify what you regularly do in your device and after how many hours you recharge?

This device is fast charged! 1:15mn full, if u're don't use it! And actually, i'm a heavy user, i browse the internet, fb,line, whatsapp, twitters, news and radio at night! Movie every spare time! I prefer watching it on my mobile since the color is nicer and portable i can watch it where and whenever i want!
I charge it 2 times aday! And my mobile 3G and data is always on since i don't have wifi at home! Battery is good enough for me for my usage! My friend GS3 battery drop faster than mine with the same usage!
Don't forget to hit thank, if i deserve it!

Can i ask you one last question?
Like if i use about 1 hour for video using MX player, 30 mins Music, 1 Hour fiddling with small apps/games and the browser... All these using a Headphone (SkullCandy ink'd)
how much total time can i get out of the device? approximately
Me buying this device tomorrow depends on your answer.
Thanks for the info so far

I think it depends on how heavy or how much time u use it! Standy don't really consume battery! So there for depend on ur usage i guesss 8-10 hours! But the total screen on time must be around 4-5!

So did you buy this phone? and what are your reviews?
Guys please tell me I had LG 4X HD and battery droped
* on quiet time (nothing use except always ON and receive mails- WIFI On - some calls , some menus digging around)
from 100% to 85% in 40 minutes!
* on rough time (playing games , movies , internet browsing etc) dropped from 100 to 85% in 15 minutes!
so I sold it .....and charge time was 2,5 hours from 0 to 100
what about S ? can you give me battery drain results in the same situations?
as I am going to buy it for $200 I think it is a good price...
thank you

Battery life thread

Edit : Battery is now fine on the phone for me ..
it seems like the phoen (stock kernel /rom) doesnt go to sleep as well as it should ..
here is the original post ..
Never inserted sim card on mine .. installed all my apps..
That's it... Over night it lost 30 percent..
At 9 am it was at 70%..
At 4 pm phone was 0.. turned off...
I did nothing.. The phone had screen off all day never used it once.. It was in my car ... nobody touched it..
I'll give it another chance tomorrow but if that's the battery life to be expected I'm returning this bad boy.. Please share your stats...

Nah bro it shouldn't be that bad at all, u may have a bad battery and/or phone....
Great Battery Life
I am getting great battery life on mine, and that with heavy use. As of right now, I'm at 74% battery with 11h 44m 54s
Same here...I have great battery life. .. And I have like 150 apps installed...I lost like 7% over night in 7 hours and with heavy use I get 24 hours of charge

I can make it 24hrs with moderate use. It has gotten better over the past few days. Attached my batt stats. One gmail, one pop, and one exchange account. Near 200 apps installed.
Your phone may be wigging out over the no sim.

I get great battery life. A little better then my note2. How you been man, its been forever.
I'm getting insane battery life compared to my Galaxy S3. Took my phone off the charger at 8:20 AM. Email syncing with Gmail and an exchange account. I left LTE on all day. Downloaded some apps and an audio book. Listed to an audiobook during lunch and several hours this evening.
My battery life has improved significantly since yesterday. Google services killed me, but has calmed down. When all day, 12+ hours, pandora, gps, and 4 hours of screen time still had about 40%.

Does the battery gets hot while charging? Is it normal?

return it.. get a new one.
Might want to check for partial wake locks as well. Had a few apps on my Note II that kept it from sleeping with the screen off. That will eat battery constantly. If so, either dump the app or root and use greenify.

Just a tip for anyone getting "okay" to back battery life. If you go into wife settings and turn off location something that helps and if you go into maps settings and turn of report location services that does wonders. I was getting about 4 hrs sot which isn't terrible but it isn't wowing lol so I did that and in the last few hours I've added another hour of sot and the % went down about 6 which is just a massive difference and trust me I use my phone lol not just reading I'm dual screening working and typing and what not. So that may help.

Check my last post and do those things then test it. I'm not rooted and my drain was happening like yours and i turned those multiple location type settings off that continually wake the device and now battery life is better than great

Mine has better battery life than Note 2.
I have had amazing battery life. I was over 2 days with light to moderate use.
My battery drains about 1% for every 5 minutes of screen on time. Is that good battery?

i put the wifi scanning always on to back on yesterday
it helps with GPS location
download greenify from the market and kill the apps that are running in the background
i didnt do nothing since yesterday . my phoen was here default settigns lost 5% for the whole day . so its good news .
Download DS Battery Saver. It puts your phone into a deep sleep and shuts everything off and wakes your phone at desired intervals, therefore you don't have apps constantly waking your device for requests which put a strain on your battery life. Give it a try, you'll love it. It's especially useful if you're working or something and you don't need your phone as much.
