How long does your battery last... - HTC Wildfire S

...and do you have any pro tips on how you make it last longer.
I get aprox. 9 hours out of my phone with heavy use all day, 806 Max, performance governor with an irc client running and my email fetching from about 5 accounts every 5 min. With Facebook and twitter running in the background.
I personally think that is pretty awesome battery life.

This is Awesome. If i Make My phone works as u my battery will die in 3 hrs. Feels Like ROBOT build is going to be a big hit among WFS users. Waiting for it. Keep it up And best of luck.:good:

I must charge my wildfire every night.

Depends on what I'm doing. If I play games from when its 100 percent charged to 15 percent that's honestly maybe an hour and a half 2 hours if I'm lucky. But I used to use juice defender it helps noticeably.

4 days minimal use (only calls) 24 hours with browsing and stuff and around 12 when im playig around with the phone games and shtuff. And can anyone link info for roboto. it got my interest but cant seem to find any info.
Sent from my Wildfire S using XDA

OK I take that back I just tested to see how long my battery would last playing a game and it barely lasted am hour from 100% to 25%. I'm pretty shocked and irritated. I think I definitely need a new battery or a new from that's not in beta still, but not too many rooms out there for CD a wfs.

OMG my battery life is awful since the update to 2.3.5 im having to charge it twice a day and thats using Juice Defender aswell, i use it a lot but only for twitter, messages and Whatsapp, i never play games on it.
i used to be able to go a full day on a charge but that was on the Original 2.3.3 rom
How can i check the health of my battery ?

Running Modpunk's CM9alpha3, 10 hours, cpu set at 805-245, screen at 50%, no 3G, no wifi, only sms.

Honestly, you are the smartest dev left on that team...
So, I will share.. radio eats up battery and display does.. so, I don't check my emails frequently.. in fact have network off most of the time.. operate on wifi and sip when needed, gps never used.. display at a minimum with a fairly quick timeout.. power saving features in kernel, undervolted and underclocked more and more as battery expires.
Wouldn't release a rom like I use to the general public bc most would consider the stuff I disabled as broken, but I only allow what I use, when I use it... Currently trying to eek 72 hrs out of this lil phone Not gonna make it on this try though.

After I calibrated my wifes WFS it lasts more than 3 days up to a week if there is no usage. Before the calibration she had to charge it every day.
Check Play for "Battery Calibration" and download the app. Charge your phone to 100% and then run the app. Worked great on her WFS and I will see on mine soon.
Of course Sense was mostly disabled/removed and here are no useless widgets for social networks running. Wifi-Off, GPS-Off

which is the best spare battery for wfs. any one using ?

[Q] Battery lifetime on official OTA Froyo ROM release?

Hi
Any news on how long battery last on the new official release?
Im currently on Pays ROM, and battery last between 24-48 h, with 3g and wifi turned on and daily use of phone, sms and browsing.
Just tried some ROMs that didnt even last a whole day
In 3 hours I have nearly used 50% of battery and that is with 3 short phone calls.
System, cell standby, wifi and phone idle account for 80% usage. Was using a different froyo rom before putting oem one on and did not have this type of drain.
Also not using an app killer as people have been saying that the system can handle the apps, that has not been the case and will install again.
My battery drain has been up massively since I went to 2.2 with the OpenDesire ROM. Phone standby takes most of it. What's causing such excessive usage? Even on the official ROM now :-/
What ROM's are you guys getting best battery with?
You should post on which ROMs you have the battery drain...
I have had massive battery drain on all ROMs until I started using the rooted 2.2 OTA. I would have to charge my phone twice every day but now it's great, I have 65 percent left after a full day of heavy use.
Edit: tried almost every FroYo ROM before this.

Which ROM are you using? I can't decide which one to download
Battery life is also my only problem with this otherwise amazing phone
Maybe it's the rom/radio combination!?
I had PaysDesire v2.3 before installing the OTA 2.2. The battery with PaysDesire with average use went from 100% to like 60% in 12 hours. With the latest one, i lost 8% in 2 hours but with over average usage. Testing the camera, installing apps, setting up things...
That is why I am still not convinced that the battery sucks on 2.2 and I will wait few days (until the shine wears off, as Coldplay would say) before bringing my final decision.

Doesn't you guys' phones' display use most of the battery? For me it's at least 70% of the battery usage.
With SetCpu I use about 1% battery on standby, but as soon as I use it, it drains battery like crazy, even though the brightness is set to 25%...

that aside, no rom or os version has changed a fig for me about battery. It's still good in reasonable terms.

+1.i am getting really good battery performance on this ROM.
but from my experience even from WinMO you will never find a single ROM on which people would agre on 100% that is good or bad.everyone is getting different results.everyone has different apps instaled, using different combination of services (push mail,wi fi,3G...).
Someone will always claim good battery life and others will say it is crap.this is really about testing what works for you the best.
Sorry for my english guys...
When i have a good connection then my battery is ok. After 16 hours i have still 12%. If my connection is bad (i'm in a building) so it search for connection and lost it again i see the battery drain and my battery is empty after few hours...

[Q] how is your battery life on your Desire HD?

just like the title states; how is your battery life on your Desire HD? and how many times do you have to recharge it to get I through the day? I heard its quite bad and might even require up to 3 times of recharge.

Now at 58%, with 8 hours from 100%. But this is with a brand new battery. My old one who is 1 year old now, only lasts out for about 7 hours.
I'm using Redemption v1.0-Alpha
About 10 hours with 40 minutes display use with IceColdSandwitch
Mine usually lasts enough for 2 days use. I've undervolted it using killersloth's script and also lowered the autobrightness levels.

I can get up to 2 days depending on usage with IceColdSandwich 6.1
Disabled wifi & bluetooth when not in use, turned off auto adjust brightness & sec sync to happen once an hour for email etc, and not while screen is off.
GPS seems to be a real battery killer tho
I'm on stock ROM and have to recharge daily. Keep data connection (3G & WiFi) off as I found battery usage stats don't reflect their imicit battery usage well. Also if you're getting constantly bad phone signal, it'll drain your battery more. Kill any apps which cause your phone to consistently stay awake.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using XDA
I can get up to 3 - sometimes 4 days depending on usage. I'm running MIUI ROM
Mine is used for personal and business use. So you can really see how usage takes its toll on your battery. I Have messed with auto brightness, got about 4 cpu profiles. but it is all down to usage. both pics are no changes to handset. just usage..
I Have 5 email accounts set up, calls and texts. pics can see when work is busy & quiet.
RCmix3D v4.0
Battery comes down to how you use your device and the apps you have installed as well as the rom installed on your device. You could set your device up just like mine in every way and still get different battery life times. This has been covered to death. Search before opening a new thread.

[Q] incredibly fast battery drain on xperia arc s.

Hi everyone. I've bought my new xperia arc s on Wednesday and unfortunately I'm very disappointed with the battery performance. It is worse than my 3 years old iPhone. I've read many advices in the internet concerning this issue, but none of them gave any improvement for me. I want to emphasize, that I switched off: wifi, auto-sync, GPS & wifi localization etc. My display is at 30% of brightness. The only functions which are turned on are: 3g network and background data.
However, my smartphone needs to be charged after around 10 hours of not very heavy using (web browsing, ca. 20 minutes playing games such as angry birds or cut the ropę and 20 minutes of listening music player.
Today's performance was just tragic: 5 hours of working (less than 3.5 hours of the turned on screen; only 3g connection on). What should I do to improve these results or maybe the battery is broken and I should send the phone to the warranty service?
Thanks for help

Hi, just some suggestions.
1. Do you use latitude?? That puts a huge dent in your battery.
2. Do you travel around during the day?? I find that my battery drops a lot quicker when the phone is forced to switch between towers a lot.
3. Try and check the date of manufacture on your battery, It may be old.
4. Did you properly condition your battery when you first got the phone (Takes about a week to do it right but well worth it in the long run)
5. See if you can borrow some one else's battery for a couple of days and see if it makes a difference?? (Isolation testing its called)
Or you could just have a bad battery, that happens.

I'm not sure how much my screen uses battery. I haven't evaluated screen always on usage.
I'm running currently at 46% 23h 3m 54s
voice calls 38% (1h 5m 20s)
wifi 19% (23h 3m 54s)
cell standby 14% (23h 3m 54s)
phone idle 12% (21h 45m 47s)
display 11% (47m 32s)
after these come other less significant stuff like Android OS, Android System, Web browser etc.
In my use are: DoomKernel v20 undervolted -75mv and Juice Defender.
I have also removed many softwares that are useless for me like support.apk etc.

It must be bad battery. If no apps are draining your batt.

Man, this is a problem that occours in every android phone, even those ones which have a more powerful battery.
I use an Arc S overclocked (but not too much) and the battery lifes varies a lot, depending on which kernel and which rom I use. The best battery life i've find so far was DoomKernel ICS v4 with Arconium ICS v5. But it was a little bit laggy and now I'm using KA13 with the same kernel. The battery life is not bad, but not really good.
Sony knows this issue and I'm sure they're working in order to fix this on the official release of ICS. Just wait
Sent from my LT18i using XDA
changing kernels usually helps

ics and battery life

At first my girlfriend had her Nexus S updated to ics and immediately we noticed a huge difference in how long her battery lasted and she is the furthest thing from a heavy user.
So when I heard that ics ws being released for our phone my first thought was i hope that what she experienced won't be what i do as we have a better phone right?
Well I am sad to say on a stock but rooted rom I experience the same lack of battery life as her.
Now I am no beginner to Android and have changed all sorts of settings available and nothing syncs on its own and when I unplug my phone from charging in the morning I will need to plug my phone in at night before bed as my phone will be completely dead.
I have to say I am very disappointed in the battery life of thr the stock rom and hope some good kernels make it out to help.
Sent from my SGH-T989D using XDA
Have you tried to find out which app/process is draining your battery? Better Battery Stats can help you identify what is using up your battery.
I had a big keep awake problem when i first installed stock ICS on my T989D. I did a full wipe of the phone and formatted my internal SD card (after backing things up of course), reinstall the same stock ICS and everything works great now. Battery life is about the same as before (stock GB w/ Synergy kernel), which is about 30 hours with moderate use.
Try CM 9. I get almost 2 days of battery life.

I've never had better battery life personally.
Sent from my SGH-T989D using Tapatalk 2
Though I am now on AOKP, I had great battery life on stock ICS as well. But, everything is subjective. How many email accounts are being synced? Do you have Facebook / Twitter / G+ updating every hour? Do you have news feeds continuously updating as well?
I have to agree with the poster above. Get Better Battery Stats and find the culprit draining your battery and work from there.
biggest thing draining the battery is the screen.
you can literally watch the battery usage drop 10-15% in a period of 10 to 15 minutes which is absurd when its set to low.
Sent from my SGH-T989D using XDA
Wait for kernel development. Its underway as we speak. It will make a significant difference.
Some battery saving tips:
- use juicedefender and set it to aggressive mode.
- use romtoolbox or other programs to underclock cpu frequency.
- also try using telus stock ics. Very good battery life.

I have a brand new T989D (I'm new to Android, former iPhone user) and got the ICS upgrade the day I got it (9 days ago). Battery life is terrible, I'm lucky if I get 10 hours of moderate usage. The phone also tends to run very, very hot. Sometimes apps freeze and all I can do is either wait or, in some cases, remove the battery to reboot.
I'm open to any tips that will get this fixed! I haven't rooted yet (no time). I think I will try those wipe tools and reflash the stock ICS ROM.
First post btw - glad to have joined XDA!
Rooting takes 5 seconds. Follow the sticky. Use odin.
Run a custom rom.

Thanks, although a lot of howtos seem to be for GB since ICS only landed 9 days ago. Also there's a lot of conflicting information, so I prefer this one:

Wait for kernel development. Its underway as we speak. It will make a significant difference.
Some battery saving tips:
- use juicedefender and set it to aggressive mode.
- use romtoolbox or other programs to underclock cpu frequency.
- also try using telus stock ics. Very good battery life.

phone is a telus phone so its already using that rom.
setcpu us setup already but thinking perhaps to undervolt

Stock, not rooted, my battery life is great. Something is using your battery up, and flashing some exotic kernel isn't going to change that. The stock kernel works fine. You'll want to find the root of the problem. Keep a real-time (or 1-5s interval anyway) eye on the phone's current (mA) usage, and when it's high for no apparent reason, you'll know that whatever is sucking your battery is doing it right then. That should help you characterize the problem. I've noticed when my WCDMA/GSM radio signal sucks, so does the battery life, so I either turn off the radio or switch to GSM only when I'm in that area. If your display is what's eating your battery, well a kernel can't stop that. Turn the brightness down, leave it on auto-brightness, or just deal with it if you need the display on all the time. But if tweaking and modding makes you happy, by all means...

biggest thing draining the battery is the screen.
you can literally watch the battery usage drop 10-15% in a period of 10 to 15 minutes which is absurd when its set to low.

I have the same complaint. The "screen" battery usage is just unacceptable, especially compared to GB. My phone has been draining from a full charge for ~4.5 hours and my screen usage is 70% and battery is down to 65% with hardly 10 minutes of screen-on time.
I use an app called autostarts and you basically enable/disable apps that start running when certain events happen (phone startup, wifi being turned on, incoming call/sms/mms, other apps turning on, etc.). Just make sure you do your homework so you dont disable something critical. Hopefully this app works on ICS. You'll be surprised what different events make certain apps turn on automaticly. Screen, data/wifi, gps and bluetooth are the biggest battery drainers. No matter what Rom you are on if you don't keep control of those items your battery will drain fast. Keep ur screen on auto, let it go off @ 15 seconds ( you have to be pretty used to your phone for that setting not to annoy you), turn OFF your data or wifi when not in use. With bluetooth and gps...well u know that when you use them your battery is gonna drain faster than normal...just keep that in mind. Its all pretty much common sense.
I'm not going to tell you how much battery time I get cuz its nonsense. There are times my phone lasts till the next day and others Im charging it by sundown. Then again Im still on Juggs n Darkside kernel and Im gonna wait a bit still b4 I make the switch. Also don't go by what other people say on battery life cuz if you might not get the same results on that ROM. Everyone of our devices is unique and acts different. Everyone user uses their phone different. You can't define "light, moderate, heavy" use so don't go by that either.

Duel core vs single core
Larger brighter screen
Processor is clocked higher
Radio is connected to hspa+ network
Tw vs Samsung.
These things make a difference

After upgrading to ICS stock unrooted battery life sucked (5-6hrs). I did the whole remove battery, factory reset and still sucked.
Broke down rooted (still stock), downloaded batterycalibration from play, followed the instructions. Easily get over 24hrs before having to charge again. and when I say easily, I mean I still have over 25% left.
Get a gnex extended....maybe a bad battery

AOKP build 40, latest eugene373 streamline kernel. I went 9 hours earlier it earlier and it was still at 70% You will see a difference!!

Bingo. Vastly different battery life between ROM's is generally BS. Every once in a great while one of these threads has merit but typically someone saying ROM X had "Killer" battery life is clueless and drinking the koolaid. Then a placebo effect takes place. And definitely someones "Heavy" use is subjective. If someone says they get a day out of an android phone they are not heavy users by my definition. It doesn't happen with heavy use. Perhaps the Razr Maxx or another phone with a very large battery but I've had 5 Android phones. If I get past noon it's because I am not using my phone that much and forget about a full day. It's never happened in the 4 years I've used google OS phones. Never.

Yes exactly, I hate when people post screenshots of their phone getting 24+ hours, I'm there thinking "well obviously they don't use their phone alot". There is no way in hell i could get 24 hours no matter what rom/kernal I use. Im just happy when my phone can make it till I get home at night

HTC one x battery life

Hi I've just recently decided to swap my xperia ray for a second hand HTC one x and unfortunately the battery life is horrid, under 4 hours and the battery is below half. 3g is on 24/7 and I didn't browse the internet for even a second , only text and call and I can't believe it, seriously considering taking this back unless somebody can convince me otherwise. All I use is the internet and calls and texts, and if it can't even handle those , then how am I going to be able to use the internet ..

are u using a custom rom ...? if not then say which base it is...3.14 oder 2.17 ...
You might try searching the forum, there are LOTs of battery related threads.
Install BetterBatteryStats (search here for it and how to use it), and check wakelocks and partial wakelocks, should tell you what is preventing the phone from entering deep sleep.
i like the battery life of my phone very much but also think, when you are using a custom rom, the rom and the kernel need to settle and i think, this take a time.. try one and give it 1-2 days, until you see the real battery draining
Came from Xperia arc myself, but wasn't expecting tremendous battery life, tbh. That said, there's virtually no drain in screen off on any stock based rom, so it evens out. Haven't tried aokp, cm10 or miui due to the pretty horrific battery life on the arc with them.

mine hox have nearly 1 year, but no better or worse battery performance. max 1 day :crying:
the battery life of the htc one x is an enigma to me (no other word can do justice to how much confusion it's causing)....I understand everyone uses their phone differently but the battery life shouldn't be all over the place as it is. My battery is lasting between 24 and 48 hours regularly with normal use i.e. normal everyday use on my one x, calls texts, camera, finding a place on maps while lost etc etc
screenshots attached.
I understand a lot of the problems are being caused by the phone not going into deep sleep. One of the ones I pinned it down to was if you go into Maps and check the location settings through there...i've turned them all off (and i still get correct google now information).
If someone wants to try that and then let us know what its like then that'd help everyone.

well not quite sure what you're doing with your phone - in that image, your mobile signal is only on for about half of the total time? did you have it in airplane mode or something?
my battery is pretty terrible - actually shocking the past few days. I can't even get through a full work day without it being down to <30%, which is only 9 hours or so. I've had power saver turned on all the time, too. I use it a bit for texts during the day and that's about it - no heavy data use. so I have no idea what's sapping it so heavily. it's quite bizarre. even if I try to micro-manage my data by turning it on only when I need it, I still get down to 40%.
this is on a stock ROM by the way. considering changing to a lighter weight custom ROM to see if that helps, as this is just ridiculous!

im getting same type of drain also. i made a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2090024&highlight=+q+battery+life
idk if this is normal or not cause its new. also im coming from 2 hr battery drain on g2x so idk what is normal nowadays
-----------
actuallyi just glanced at ur screen shot and for u it might be the mobile radio. It seems like ur signal is spotty for most of the time. this drains battery like no other when trying to find a good signal this goes with wifi too
HOX's battery live was terrible at first. (ICS & Old kernel)
Now it seems that it has reached its max capability. It saves the day, but it would be great, if the battery had been 2100 mah.

How much was your screen on time tho? I could just leave my phone doing nothing and have over 1day battery.
@op you could try the battery calibration. Charge phone till green light, once fully charged unplug and switch off the phone and charge again till green light now switch on and use phone.
You should now have better battery.
