Tizen on SGS III ??

As I hate it when people make threads that just lead to a link, I'll add a few words of my own.
I'm a little skeptical that this will go the way of the Palm Pre. Be that as it may, you have to consider that Samsung is getting big in the mobile market. They may take the chance to break away from Android and add a new flavor into the mix.
That being said though, does it have to be so........ FUGLY
It looks like every OS out now slapped toge- OH WAIT... I just realized it's some third party Chinese developer made OS. No wonder
I would hate to see the SGSIII go the way of the Samsung Instinct.

Lol tizen ? ... Looks like **** !

Looks like Touchwiz. I won't buy a SGSIII if it uses Tizen. I dislike Touchwiz as it is--there's no way that I'm going to buy a phone that looks exactly like it--even if the hardware is great.
I'd rather buy the next iteration of the Nexus series. Heck, if Sprint miraculously gives my city LTE support in the near future, I'd sell my E4GT immediately and buy a Galaxy Nexus. I doubt that'll happen though, as my city doesn't even have Wimax support, so I'd guess my city would be near the bottom of the list for LTE rollout.

I'm not leaving Android, so if Samsung goes to Tizen, I will drop Samsung and pick up another manufacturer.
And I buy a lot of Samsung devices... Moment, Epic 4G, Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy Tab 10.1, etc.

I wholeheartedly agree. Like the author of the article, I buy Android first, manufacturer second. Why ruin such a great line of devices with this crap?

Um, I'm gonna go ahead and call BS. I don't see any sources cited (just "sammobile"); not to mention just how illogical it sounds. Samsung's too smart to jump off androids gravy train. I don't care how devout their followers, an OS is nothing with out an application environment.

Agree. They wouldn't risk releasing such a crappy looking OS on a highly anticipated device such as the SGSIII. Maybe testing the waters with a different device...yes but yeah android is definitely working good for them.

Samsung wont drop Android...Look at how much success has come from it. These are nothing but rumors.

No one is doubting the story about tizen. A Google search could've cleared that fast. The bs part is about the SGSIII and samsung dropping android. The latter part could happen but not anytime soon...but hey, it's just speculation on my end.

For what its worth.
The Galaxy S series is tied to Android, I doubt Samsung would risk alienating potential repeat customers by switching OS's. Makes little to no sense.
I'm willing to bet this shows up on a low to mid range device first to test the waters and see if consumers buy into it. I'd wager that it wouldn't debut in the US.

They will probably supplant their entry level feature-phones with this. There are still far more feature-phones (read: dumb-phones) on the planet making that a very lucrative market segment to pursue. I'm pretty sure Nokia is still king in that market segment so Samsung could stand to gain quite a bit by offering a relatively feature-rich experience for very little money to those who don't care about buying into an ecosystem (iOS or Android) as much as accessing their services (facebook, twitter, etc) and simply having a phone that works.
Not to mention this device likely would probably be off the radar of the current ****-show of IP warfare ruining this industry right now.

Yeah i though about that as well...I just hate that outside of being free from Sense and TW its just behind...hardware.

Only thing that I liked about the HTC was the dedicated camera button.
Everything about the G3 is better. Pictures are close on each with a slight lead to HTC in low light.
Get the G3

Had a 4GLTE for about 3 weeks and decided to switch. They are both on par with each other(hardware, software, dev team, etc). The camera is better on the LTE but sound(music, video recording) is way better on the s3. I decided to return the LTE because of the recent apps issue, screen scratched WAY too easy, and people were bending the phone right above the kickstand(i beat on my phones). S3 is a finger print magnet to the highest degree lol.

Yes...yes i did, and by that i mean i didn't look.

Yes there are other threads on this, but after reading about the LTEVO's weak build (bends in the middle), non-removable battery, and so on, I opted for the S3. It's phenomenal. The camera is great, it's zippy, and the software is very well done. The Galaxy Nexus is also a tempting option, but the older hardware and weak camera made me choose the S3. Good luck in your search!

I came from S2 to S3 and I sometimes want to switch back. It just fit my hand perfectly and ran smooth. Battery was meh though

I really hope samsung fulfills their promises. The same thing happened with the Galaxy S Vibrant... ICS was coming out and we still were on froyo... The trouble is T-Mobile... I don't get why they don't OTA like other carriers! I REALLY hope we get this

Angry much? does it affect you directly? Not bashing it and I'm not the only one that thinks its not a worthy upgrade. I've had the gs3 and have first hand experience with it. By the way Ive pointed out good things with it also.

Let's just say the ones like yourself are the minority. I've also had first hand experience with it ( even flashed paranoid android on it for a friend ) the phone is an upgrade. I've done side by side app loading and games run much better too ( dead trigger runs at 40+ fps vs the 20-30 it gets on the t989 ) I don't know what your beef with it is. Seems to me like you're over infatuated wuh this device. Be that as it may its just annoying to read your gs3 bashing in every thread. How would you feel if I did the same as you and belittled the t989 in every thread?? Its just unnecessary.

Its a small upgrade with more ram and newer CPU but, Its still just a phone dude...take a deep breath. Go ahead and bash it. I have other more important things to worry about. Job, wife, kid, life in general. When you come back to earth and realize the phone/s in your hand are just pieces of electronic equipment that have a life of roughly two years, sometimes less then talk to me, have a nice night.

Exactly why I said he must've been talking about himself lol its cool to have an opinion. Its not cool to keep rubbing it in peoples faces over and over again as he does. Especially when its widely considered false. Anywho back on topic.. I feel like it will be a long while before we get JB. This article is referring to the international. All the gs2 minus the t989 runt have the same exynos/mali 400. Won't that cause some issues in porting if I'm not mistaken? Anywho I hope I'm wrong for all our sakes lol JB has made a lot of headway on this phone but it isn't close to how JB handles on the galaxy nexus. I flash my home girls gnex at least twice a month and it really makes me want to sell this phone and pick up a gnex lol. No bugs and its actually noticeably smoother. That gallery loads so fast and flips through photos so fluidly you'd think there was a quad core CPU in that thing.

As part of the T-Mobile BOGO promotion, I got the Galaxy S II, and my mother, the Galaxy S III. I recommended her to get the Galaxy S III for her first Android smartphone, but then when I went to T-Mobile they said they had a school sale going on, buy their newest 4G phones, and get another selected phone for free (mail in-rebate in the form of a Visa card with the amount you paid for the secondary phone.) While the Galaxy S II is the child of the Galaxy S III, they are almost similar. There is no reason to hate either phones, because honestly I've had the chance to play with both (My SII and my mom's SIII) and they are awesome phones. The SIII has a few more features and slightly better hardware, but isn't that what you pay for?
Edit : Also with Gallery3D I prefer to switch it with the 3RD party application, QuickPic. Uses less RAM, (thus less battery) and to me is much faster. Give it a shot if you're looking for a fantastic image viewer.

None of this has to do with the OP... Seriously, if you think people care about your opinion on a phone, you're in for a rude awakening.

2nd, the ip5 is right around the corner.
3rd, the sgs3 is new, on every carrier, and sell over seas also.
4th, I have never bought an Apple product.

Comparing SGS3 to iPhone 4s is like comparing Xbox 360 to a playstation 2, it's oudated.. the new iPhone 5 will be a lot better.

I don't disagree...but there are many iphans that argued the only thing that would ever surpass the 4s would be the next model of iphone, just as all previous models of iPhone have carried it without interruption.
You also have to look at the simple metrics involved...there are only so many people out there to buy subsidized phones...samsung , with their multi price level offerings and a killer flagship have made a huge impact on the market just prior to release...and have plans to further impact things around the time that we will see the next model iPhone

you are correct sir....i think it's funny when people act like the 4s is 3 years old ....And Samsung will make an impact when the I5 is released with the "note II"...which is why Apple just added the GS3 and the "note" to it's lawsuit...so Apple can have a jump start on attacking the Note II

It's a year old, you can't compare it to a phone that has been out for a few months with the pace that technology changes.

No need to move this it has nothing to do with the Apple versus Samsung case. The sales of the iPhone 4 S has diminished because the new model is coming out. And the iPhone 5 will out sell the Galaxy S 3 because of all the Apple sheep out there. To be honest, I can see how the iPhone 5 will be better than our phone.

you have a point about technology...but look at the original EVO..that lasted(and held up) for what...2 years?..THe 4s is just about 11 months old actually...now think back to the release date(Oct 11 2011) and all the sales..and think about the price and how it was suppose to be the best thing going...to only run for 11 months?...Come on now..
If people were told on the release date that an Iphone "twice as good" would be released just 11 months later...how many do you think would have just waited?
on edit: The GS3(international) was released on may 29 2012...thats 7 months its unfair to compare phones that are only 7 months apart? For that kind of money? THat's crazy...either way Apple knew what Samsung was doing which is exactly why the I5 is being pushed out so soon...
Now if you recall the GS2 was released in may 9 of 2011 and when the 4s was released 5 months later are you telling me that nobody compared it or suggested how much better it was than ANY OTHER phone(including the GS2)???

I've been a long time iPhone user, since the first one, and I just bought a Galaxy s3 and can honestly say I don't miss it at all. The new one is just more of the same....

This is probably going to get locked down real fast.....but its definitely a BIG dissappointment. Some of my friends are turning into hypocrites real fast saying they'll buy it. Especially when they told me"I don't need a bigger screen, 3.5 is more than enough" this was when I had the x10, captivate, nexus s etc. iPhone users need to wake up.

I was going to reply, just this..LOL so funny. I had every iPhone ever released until 3 weeks ago, got the GS3 and i couldn't be happier, iP5 is just a minor minor revision, playing catch up to the rest of the world.

The only feature I was eagerly looking forward to in the iPoop5 was NFC, but, nope, mobile payments are now set back a few years for everyone.

Actually, what we really need would be Google Wallet support for our GS3's without the hack-around. But we know that wouldn't work with Apple since they're now Anti-Google. Forget where i saw it... think it was on the news earlier, but i like how they put it. Something along the lines of "There is so much competition between Apple and Google, that Apple decided to recreate the world." in regards to Apple's new maps system.

Lol they do. They said my infuse is too big for pockets :face palm: now I just say I'm used to having big things in my pocket, but 4.5 isn't really all that large anymore. So many I sheep at my school, then again I'm at a richer private school lol they were all like ooohh ahh the iPhone 5 is the best. Then I shut them up when I told them about the gnote 2 haha.

So when the iphone comes out with a lighter feeling phone, it feels impressively light, when Samsung comes out with one with a lighter feeling, it feels cheap.

GS3 owner can have an opinion about other products specially if they are direct competitors, it is not about making he threat about OS vs OS, but general opinions about the product just announced.

How can you hate it? Its sooooo new. All the features are totallllly innovative. This is gonna change everything again LOL no

Apple is at it again, same old phone design. Lame is what I think it is. Honestly, whats changed? Basically nothing besides LTE. The event was more of a " we sold a billion of these and a trillion of these, and oh yeah heres the new iPhone 5 we gave it a bigger scree, now go wait in line"

Its almost impossible to get (cheap) nfc tags in Canada. I asked a Best Buy rep at the Eaton Centre store in Toronto a couple of days ago, and he had no idea what NFC was.
I was really hoping the new iphone would have it so that it would become 'mainstream', but guess we have to wait another year now. Also, doesn't help that stupid S Beam is incompatible with Android Beam (try transferring photos to any non-GS3 phone, it will fail..till we get updated to JellyBean)

i remember reading reviews almost 'ranting' about how light the galaxy s and galaxy s ii were. people were saying 'too light', 'does not feel premium because phone does not feel substantial in hand', 'iphone is perfect with high quality weight to it', 'sometimes not sure if in pocket or not'. something along those lines.
and i read this on a youtube comment but I think it could hold some truth. could Apple have not included nfc (even if it wanted to/why wouldn't they want to?), because it already finalized its aluminum design? fail.
