Charging Issue !!! - HTC One X

Hello there,
I have noticed a strange thing with the HTC One X, when i charge my phone although i turn it off before i plug it into the power outlet it always turns back on. Am i doing something wrong? I can't find a way to charge my phone in a turned off status and it's the first time i have come across with such a problem. Could you please help me out? I use the factory charger that came with the phone device.(I am on a stock ROM, never used a custom ROM before and i have smart screen pro for notifications)
Thank you in advance,
Dinos

I have already done that but still no change, any ideas?

Okay finally found it, thanks to the xda search capability, the problem was the clockwork mod, after i flashed another recovery, the TWRP to be exact, the problem is solved. Now there is another issue, the phone still turns on but this time it boots to recovery mode. After some search, there is also a bug in TWRP which turns the phone on although previously it was turned off. I am using TWRP 2.2.2.0 and as for the CWM recovery i was using 5.8.4.0. I hope the guys at TWRP who did a great job by the way will try to fix this problem. I hope this info will help some people in the future if they happen to have the same problem as i did.

Appreciate for any help.

ClockWork bug.
IIRC, this has been fixed in the latest version, but not sure if that is available to ROM Manager yet.

the second stage of charging is just to ensure that phone is at 100% when battery stats are deleted, the phone will charge in recovery (don't believe me install QtADB and you can watch it from the phone info pane) so complete the second stage with the phone in recovery then proceed as per instructions.
BTW the reason for recovery coming up, is HTC use the recovery partition to power up the charging light on the DHD when it is turned off, so it's trying to replicate this behaviour but Clockwork recovery doesn't play ball
Any update on the battery trick in this state?

[Q] S-OFF succeeded, with a charging problem

Hi,
Yesterday I had my G7 s-offed using Alpharev 1.8. Now it's running with the Sense MTD, Clockworkmod 2.5.1.7 recovery, and MIUI 1.2.25 rom. It is great, but with one side effect. Whenever the phone runs out of battery and automatically turns off, it won't boot up when being charged. And even if I unplug the charger, the white charging animation continues and it still can not be turned on - the only solution is to pull the battery.
Before s-off, my G7 has been rooted using Unrevoked and running with Clockworkmod (2.5.0.1 modified by MIUI) and the MIUI rom for months. Whenever the phone powered down and got charged, it booted into the recovery, from where I can start the phone.
Does anyone have a similar problem?
Thanks a lot!
Have you tried flashing another ROM to see if the problem is still there?
You might want to search on usb brick and see if that is your problem ?

Yes, also flashed CM7RC4. And someone having the same problem said he flashed a lot of different ROMs to no avail.
It seems to me how the phone reacts to the charger when powered down should be controlled by HBOOT rather than the operating system, i.e. the rom.
Thanks for the suggestion

My phone is working fine except the charging problem. So I guess it's totally different from 'usb brick'. But it may be a good idea to have a look when I have time
Thanks for the suggestion.

[Q] Phone powers on only when charger is plugged in

Hello, I have a problem with my desire. I'm on Insertcoin latest Rom for almost a year and during this time my phone works great, no reboots or freezing, it's fast... But whenever I power it off I have too plug the charger and then the phone will start. If I don't plug it in, it won't start, it's dead and have no response. Also if I don't plug the charger and remove battery and return it in, it also doesn't start. Only with charger.
Rebooting works without charger. The battery is fine, it lasts 3-5 days, did a power off with 100% and won't start.
I was waiting for ICS to try another ROM but it still in beta and this powering problem is bothering me for some time.
I even tried different radios today and I upgraded to latest CW recovery 5.8.0.2 and did Revolutionary to HBOOT S-OFF but the problem still persists. Do you have maybe some idea on what could be the problem? I've search the forum and googled before posting and couldn't find identical problem with Desire (only worst, bricked etc.)
I have also tried clearing battery stats and davlik, also did a complete whipe and reinstalling rom again and the problem still presists...
Thank you for your answer.
Anybody?
IM IN THE SAME BOAT here...
but im on stock rom... still 2.1 eclair..
No response and this is my first post :-D
I would ask in developers insertcoin thread but I can't becaue of the 10 posts rule for newcomers... So if anyone can move my questions there I would appreciate it
long shot:
do you have a fastboot setting? it's a little while since i used a sense rom
menu->settings->power?
untick fastboot
or somewhere within the settings to untick any fastboot option (if it exists)
once again this is a long shot suggestion, may be completely wrong. looks like a strange bug.
hopefully there is some solution out there, otherwise just don't turn it off!

Wooow ,tnx man! It worked I had setting that says:
Fastboot
Turn off to use some Market apps
And this setting is unticked and I can't power it on without charger. If I tick it on, the phone starts up very fast when I power it off and it works! Without a charger!
I did find through search on xda that the fastboot could be a possible problem but I thought that mine is already off (because it was unticked). But acctualy it was on... Grrrr, what a noob am I : ))

I had a similar problem as you. Upon getting the phone I rooted and used the FreeGee app from the Google Play store to unlock the bootloader. Everything seemed fine and dandy, until one day when I let my phone's battery drain completely. Pluggin it in to a wall charger resulted in the failed boot where the LG logo flashes before going to a blank, but backlit screen. Luckily, the first few times this happened, through a combination of quickly plugging and unplugging the usb cord and holding the volume up+power button, I could get it into recovery (TWRP). Then a simple cache & dalvik cache wipe, and the phone would boot up as if nothing ever happened. Very strange.
Well yesterday this happened again, however, this time there was no getting the phone into recovery. My previous methods of button mashing and plugging and unplugging weren't working. So, I decided to bite the bullet and use LGNPST to get back to ZV7. Now, like you mentioned, this failed boot would automatically happen, without pressing the power button to turn it on. So it was difficult to get the phone to stay off. I found that with the phone unplugged, if you continue to press the power button until the blank backlit screen turns off, AND continue to hold the power button for an additional five seconds, the phone would stay off and not auto power on into the failed boot.
Once I was able to get the phone to stay off, I pressed the middle of the volume key to depress both volume up and down, and then plugged a usb cord that was attached to my computer. This powered on the phone into download mode. Following the LGNPST guide I was able to get to around 67% complete before my phone turned off and an error message flashed on the computer screen telling me to power cycle the phone and reconnect. Well, the whole 67%/85% LGNPST failure is apparently common and not indicative of an actual failure; HOWEVER, my phone became completely unresponsive. It wouldn't power on at all. It didn't matter if the usb was unplugged or connected to the computer or wall charger. So, I was forced to unplug the battery. I followed this tutorial and successfully disconnected and reconnected the battery cord, and the phone shot back to life. It even booted up into the factory stock ZV7 rom. I guess that LGNPST was successful. It looked like I was on my way to returning my phone to breezy's deodexed ZV9 stock rom that I was previously running.
I went ahead and re-rooted, ran the FreeGee app again, and rebooted into recovery. Then I made a backup and attempted to flash my new rom. Now, I think this is where I royally screwed up. I was pleasantly surprised to see my screen layout and all of my settings still intact after LGNPST back to ZV7 and thought I could just wipe the caches and ignore the factory reset and system wipe before flashing. Perhaps it was this, but part of me also thinks there might be something wrong with my battery draining extremely fast in recovery.
I proceeded to flash and all seemed good, but rebooting resulted in the LG logo failed boot that we have already discussed. So, I went ahead and repeated the LGNPST-re-root process numerous times (switching to the freegee 0.5 batch file instead of the app). Everytime after the first initial restore, I could never get my phone to enter recovery. As soon as I rebooted after using freegee, the phone would be soft bricked again. Sometimes I would get the LG logo thing, other times I would get the dreaded alternating flashing red notification light and soft keys. A battery pull was usually required in these circumstances before I could get back into download mode to start all over.
I was about ready to give up when I took to the LGOG irc channel. That's when Xboxfanj stepped in and helped me out IMMENSELY. Over the course of several hours, he walked me through flashing some partitions in ADB. At times it seemed like there was no hope and that I should have just returned the phone, but he failed to acquiesce, we pushed forth trying a couple of other bootloader options. The new bootloader appeared to have fixed the phones erratic behavior with powering on and off, but I had no rom to boot into and no recovery. Xboxfanj recommended using fastboot to flash over a recovery. Once in the new bootloader screen my Windows XP machine detected new hardware and wanted some drivers. I attempted to use the [ADB/FB/APX Driver] Universal Naked Driver 0.72, but XP indicated that I was missing 'winusbcoinstaller2.dll'.
I grabbed winusbcoinstaller2.dll from here and all was good. Fastboot recognized the phone, I was able to flash recovery and subsequently boot into recovery. From there I reformatted the system, wiped data/factory restore, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache, and flashed breezy's ZV9 deodexed rom.
Fortunately, after around 7 hours, I am happy to say my phone is back to being rooted, unlocked, and running ZV9. It powers on and off properly and can get into recovery without a hitch. I'm still curious what will happen if I let my battery drain completely. Perhaps I'll try it some time this week. I'll be sure to post back here if/when I do that. All in all, it was a harrowing, but educational experience.
Anyway, just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to Xboxfanj! You really are the man :good:. Thanks for your patience and determination.

[Q] Boot problem with my p6

Hey guys,

It simply doesn't make it till that point. sometimes it shows a random color (the whole screen) but most of the time it just shuts down at the huawei logo... i also tried fastboot but it doesn't get recognized...

If yes, try to flash twrp recovery via ADB.

It doesnt charge ( the led doesnt turn on and im pretty sure that doesnt) and i havent been able to try adb. Its also quite strange that it wont be in a stable recovery mode ( or fastboot mode) since it turn itself off after 10/20 seconds.
getting really lost
So guys,
i'm really starting to think i need to bring mine to the service center cus it's completely dead.
it won't charge, it doens't get into recovery mode, i can't flash the official firmware with the sdcart/dload/update.app way, i can't fastboot it cus it won't go in fastboot mode (the way it get stuck on the splash screen/huawei logo), and it shuts itself down after 20 seconds leaving nothing else then a black but brightened screen.....
i'm afraid i have to take full costs due my root and custom rom, if they can fix/see it at all.
it worked fine after all and shut down with no reason what makes me think this is a hardware problem.
does anyone else have any suggestions before i bring it to the service center?
thanks

But thats's ok, this is a common android problem, but some phone must be charged for al least two days, and after that try to flash another ROM. Even if the led is not always on, let it for a long time to charge, trust me, the power will be inside your battery, not full but enough to resist/handle a new ROM flashing.

Yea i know that... But it doesnt show the led when i charge it (so the led has nothing to do with the charging state of the phone), only in some cases when i try to boot into recovery. And the battery cant actually be totally empty, it was 40% when it totally crashed so i dont think thats the problem. And if so, it should at least get to the point where it is trying to flash the original firmware

Im going to the service center in 8 hours since my phone is completely DEAD. It doest charge and it does not even react to the power button anymore... (Probably cus the battery is completely drained), it doesnt react to anything else either (usb, power net, anything) and will nog be able to fix by connecting it thru a computer. Aka its hopeless...
Thanks for the support
