Is this Jelly Bean update? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hi Friends.
I woke up this morning seeing my SGS3 is getting an update from TMobile. I have not accepted yet, because I am afraid it will strip the universal search option (like they did in the SGS2). But what if this is Jelly Bean? Any body know???

are you running LH2?

I am still on stock, have not rooted my phone yet.

but if he's already on UVALH2 then it's a new OTA which is still something.

Baseband version T999UVLEM
What does it mean?

Means youre getting the lh2 update

Yeah, not Jelly Bean.

Really? Ok then, but is it a good update? Will I lose universal search? Should I take it?

Poor you. Ask apple to share you a portion of that 1 Bil. then.
For me, I am now on UVLH2, ready for Jelly Bean whenever it comes out.

Jelly bean isn't just gonna come out of the blue. Tmobile will make an announcement that they're releasing the update first and then they'll send it out OTA

WOW.
So when you saw the box that says SAMSUNG GALAXY SIII, you didn't realize that it was a Samsung phone?
You didn't test the phone before you bought it and you didn't see that there's nothing apple about the phone?
Seriously?

poor guy..
I know it's dumb to make a topic asking this, but Google has released Android 4.0.3 to the AOSP and Samsung's Galaxy S2 has it. I don't understand why it's taking so long for Google (who has a massive advantage) to get it to GN owners.
From what I can tell, the Nexus S isn't on ICS yet.
I'm not complaining. I'm just pointing out that there is something interesting going on.

Waiting for an update is the reason I unlocked and rooted my phone. I'm not interested in waiting.

Worth switching over?

Okay so I just dropped my HTC One S and it completely shattered the screen.
I'm getting a replacement and I'm going to sell that replacement.
Question to you is, how is the Galaxy Nexus?
I might get a 4.1 Jelly Bean one for $350 from the Play Store?
I know it's going from 1.5GHz to 1.2GHz but I'm not sure here, help?

If you had exynos version you know what I mean.
But don't forget I'm rocking GN on jelly bean and loving it. But that doesn't mean I can't say some bad about it.
2 things to consider if I were you:
1. If you want the pure Google experience, not a hybrid vendor/android phone; definitely the GneX or wait until later in year for the Nexus line.
2. If you prefer a bit more "powerful" hardware right now, the Galaxy S III is the best option in my opinion. Of course you have to deal with Carrier lock and Samsung's TWiz running on top of Android OS.
Both are win win situations, just depends on your preference...

They need to test all of their bloatware to make sure it is compatible with Jelly Bean first. That might take a while... In all seriousness, just root and flash a custom ROM. You'll be much happier in the end.

Well I have been rooting Android devices since G1 (Nexus 1, Desire and LG P990). I have got sick and tired of it and bought Galaxy Nexus just because there is no need to do it. I know I could do it but I dont want to bother with wipe.
Besides, I have bought my device in Europe and it is not connected to Verizon in any way and there is no Verizon bloatware in my phone, it is pure AOSP as far as I can tell.
Well with several devices I mean most images on this site: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mysid
It might be only 2 devices but there are so many versions. See what I mean?

If at all. I have a feeling ATT is done providing updates for this phone. And if they do throw one more at us, it wont be 4.3 cuz they just don't keep them updated that close to what the actual current version is. Prolly 4.2 will be the last if any at all. I hope I'm wrong, but their track record does speak for itself.

Both of these reference the i9300 (i9305), not our phone...
The first article is supposedly an insider tip from a Deutsche Telekom employee: "The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 have been rumored to skip the Android 4.2.2 and get Google’s latest Android update instead, although Samsung is yet to confirm it. An Australian carrier (Telstra), answering to questions about the Galaxy Note 2 updates, has also hinted that the device will go straight to Android 4.3"
The second article also mentions the same DT employee and is talking about the i9300 for DT networks.
Your 1st comment said Samsung confirmed it and they have not.

This, we know. What I'm trying to explain to everyone in another thread is that support for the US variants died after the release of 4.1.2
We should consider ourselves lucky if we get 4.3 (officially) at any point.
Samsung doesn't need to confirm anything that the US carriers choose to do with the 4.2/4.3 source code (if they ever do get it). I'm still convinced that carriers are only interested in selling new flagship devices.

I'm now getting bored of the Premium Suite as I thought that I would have wanted all those fancy features when they first release.
Now, I'm trying to find a stock AOSP 4.3 ROM to flash. My only reason for staying with this is the fact that I need to use Samsung KIES as I'm a MAC user and have no other way of using MTP to transfer files to my device.

I love my note 2 but I think from now on ile just stick to nexus device. I bought this phone based on the screen size really. All I want is a stable kit Kat cm or cm based ROM which seems unlikely at this point.

He asked about a stable KitKat cm based ROM as well, not an official update, hence my suggestion of beanstalk.

Yeah I think I'm just going to hold on to my 2 until the 4 comes. I was itching to get a note 3 but I don't think I'm going to waste my time.
I'm thinking about getting a galaxy gear watch to play around with till I get a new phone

It is a better longer term option for everyone...Especially given how Samsung has chosen to ignore their formerly flagship phone wrt updates. Further the much waited 4.4 update is probably the last if I had a=to bet.

Galaxy Gear only works, so far as I know, with unrooted stock (yuck) touchwiz ROMs on select devices of Samsung's arbitrary choice. You're better served both now and later with not spending the $200+USD on Samsung locked hardware.
I have seen users with smoothest claim gear works. Smoothest is a n3 stockish rooted ROM.

I don't mind running stock touchwiz. I actually recently unrooted and returned to stock 4.3 when I was planning on trying to sell my baby and I don't mind it one bit. I have never been a fan of aosp so staying stock isn't the end of the world for me

I didn't mind TW but I really got tired of waiting for Sammy to release a 4.4 update for us, and then having to wait on Sprint again... It's nice to be able to use KitKat on the Note 2
