Still no Jelly Bean update for Toro - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Have we heard anything from Google why the update for toro is not yet available? It is a bit strange since its available for most other Google devices.

What are u on right now?

blame verizon.

After 2 updates I am on 4.0.4.
Why should I blame Verizon?

If there was even a hint of an update dont you think there would be about 50 threads by now?! Also by "most other" Google devices do you mean 2? Cause that is the number!

I got tired of waiting so i unlocked, rooted, and flashed a pure AOSP rom and its awesome. Its as solid as an OTA update but you arent waiting for verizon.

Unlock and root. It's so simple and the benefits are many.
Greatest benefit being, not waiting for Verizon.

They need to test all of their bloatware to make sure it is compatible with Jelly Bean first. That might take a while... In all seriousness, just root and flash a custom ROM. You'll be much happier in the end.

When I first rooted my galaxy nexus, I saw no benefits and regretted it.
Then I got on XDA and realized WTF is wrong with me!?!?!? Rooting the SHIIIIEEET!!!

Well I have been rooting Android devices since G1 (Nexus 1, Desire and LG P990). I have got sick and tired of it and bought Galaxy Nexus just because there is no need to do it. I know I could do it but I dont want to bother with wipe.
Besides, I have bought my device in Europe and it is not connected to Verizon in any way and there is no Verizon bloatware in my phone, it is pure AOSP as far as I can tell.

Well with several devices I mean most images on this site: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mysid
It might be only 2 devices but there are so many versions. See what I mean?

According to a Verizon tech at a store near me he has never even heard of Jelly Bean. I mentioned it to him and he looked at me like I was a moron and said ICS is the most recent OS lol. This was about 2 weeks ago.
That is the kind of people that work for Verizon lol.

My Verizon ppl are smarter. They all admitted to me (eventually) that they have rooted.
But man seriously??? Why would you work at Verizon and not know what they are selling.
And did u ripe out your nexus and go on YouTube and showed him JB on a Verizon version???

Hmm, I might go the flash route then. Can I unlock bootloader, flash a non rooted ROM and also get updates in future? Does this flash change the radio?
I am a bit sick and tired of non stock roms.

you can flash stock roms, but you will not get the update. however, once the official images get placed on google's site, you can convert back to those images and then get all updates.

[Q] Worth it to go from IMM30B to IMM76K?

Pretty self explanatory from the title. I've seen a bunch of people who have updated from 4.0.2 and welcomed the new changes - but what about us already on 4.0.4? Has anyone gone from IMM30B to IMM76K? What differences did you notice (other than just "better signal") Is it really worth having to wipe our phone for these changes?
Or would waiting to see if a full release comes out so we don't have to wipe our phones is a better option?
Thanks guys.
Just flash the radio's for know and wait for the "Official" release which shouldn't be too far off.

Ditto, I updated my radios but nothing else. I think it'd be a bigger pain to downgrade your whole phone back to 4.0.2 to allow for the proper 4.0.4 update. Easier to wait for an incremental update, or wait for 4.0.5/6

Where the hell is imm76k?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
It's not for AT&T, it's for VZW
IMM76K is a 4.0.4 Verizon Wireless / LTE release for the GNex that appears official and started getting pushed out OTA to a very few regular users and a number of VzW phones (in store displays for instance) over the last two days. At least one user was good enough to copy the zip before it was installed on his/her device and started it, so many others could start trying it as well.

I was on the leaked 4.0.4 radios/BL and flashed back to the 4.0.2's. Applied the zip file on here and upgraded.
Honestly? Not a fan. Probably going to flash back to what I had. Of course, it's all relative to your hardware/location/etc...
My experience. Flash it and see what yours is.

People got it directly from Google's servers. An xda user ran alogcat on a store phone that was showing the update notice. That file name allowed the URL for the update to be discovered. At least that's what happened on xda .

Question from a nexus noob

This is my first nexus device, ive owned several other droids but now that i tried the nexus and all its features and advantages, i love it, so much that im not buying anything else till the next one comes out
So the question:
Ive heard jelly bean is coming(i hope it comes for this too), so if it does come, how do i update it? Is the whole thing going to be pushed OTA too? Or do i have to use Kies like with other samsungs? Or do i have to flash an image too?
That thought Its been bugging me for days since i switched to yakju
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Its been advertised that the galaxy nexus will be the first phone with jelly bean. This means the GSM nexus straight from Google. Cdma should see it in a few weeks in a form of a custom rom possibly. Usually in the form as an OTA or a hopefully a direct update link... like I have seen from my previous phones.
Sent From My Sprint Galaxy Nexus
Thru OTA just like the rest of the updates although I'm pretty sure the moment it comes out we will get the link at once for manual flashing. Kies won't work because that's only for samsung proprietary products. Ours may be made by samsung but it's still a Google phone
Still on stock Nexus and loving it!
Kies is Samsung phones with Touchwiz only.

Despite have flashed yakju, you will likely not be the first person here on XDA to get the update. As soon as we get the download link (from the first person to post it here), all you have to do is download it from, and follow the instructions in, this thread. Otherwise, just wait for the update to come to your device OTA (although this could take days or weeks after the first person to get it).

The non-yakju non-GSM models will take quite a bit longer to be updated, as Sprint and Verizon have to go through their verification and testing.

OTA Jelly Bean update available

Okay so I received a GT-i9250M today that I bought off of ebay and after plugging it in to charge, I got a notification about the Jelly Bean update. Don't know if to install it though as I don't know if it can be rooted afterwards. Should I just install the one in the development forum?
It can be rooted afterwards, there is a cwm flashable package available in the dev section.

Yea your best off to download one of the developmental roms that have some tweaks, fixes, and some mods.
I wouldn't touch the ICS custom roms since ignorance is bliss. They have LOTS of customization that hurts when missed. Some of the JB mods help but you won't miss what you never had!
Welcome to the Nexii Community btw. I recommend a 34px Nav bar and Battery% mods to start you out. The Nav bar mod will make the bar smaller because the stock Nav bar is HUGE!

Thanks for going easy on me guys and sorry for getting everyone worked up for nothing. I have attached the screenshot requested. Thanks for the mod suggestions. I see the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit should be updated soon to support JB so as soon as I root I'll get to modding. Loving the phone so far (for the past couple hours :-D). Much better than my old faithful Vibrant on SlimICS, though I still love her too lol
Um, Google took that JRN84D from IMM30D update down just hours after putting it up...so either Google put the update back up and his phone is running IMM30D takju, or Google has begun the roll out to other devices.

Updates to Sprint Galaxy Nexus?

I'm really considering the Galaxy Nexus for my next phone. I'm just concerned about updates because of the crap that is happening with the lack of ICS for the EVO 3D. So, does the Sprint Galaxy Nexus receive updates as fast as other networks?
And, I don't root, so don't tell me to do that to fix updates.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D using Tapatalk 2
Your outta luck if you don't want to root. Sprint sucks with updates. And we already have a port of jelly bean....

You're just waiting for Sprint to approve the updates after Google completes them. As with Verizon, it's going to take some weeks after the GSM model gets it for any CDMA model to get it.

We don't actually know anything yet. The Sprint Galaxy Nexus came with 4.0.4 out of the box so there's been no need for an OTA previously and Google has not officially released 4.1 yet. So we've got no specific OTA experience for the Galaxy Nexus. The nexus S 4G did not get Ice Cream Sandwich very quick but neither did many GSM Nexus S. There were problems with the ICS rollout across the board. But here's hoping that they'll get Jellybean right. Of course the rest of us have been using JB for a long time now because we'll he damned if we're gonna wait for Sprint. Or even Google for that matter
You can flash JB without root.

Thanks for the answer, guys. I wish Google would come up with an easier solution because the carriers are screwing us.
And, for those of you screaming "root", you don't understand that some don't have the time to do it. I won't give up my limited family time to figure it out. And, trust me, you don't want to live my day. If I was still young and single, I would probably do it.

Rooting takes a matter of minutes.... This is a Google device. It's not a locked down HTC. However flashing and keeping up with roms and such is where the time comes in. I know plenty of married people on here..... With children.... That always still have time to mess around with their phone. you don't have to be on here everyday, you can't still root and keep up. just think about it a little more.

After flashing jelly bean, I personally do not need to be trying different Roms, maybe theme or kernel, I am the only person that has bragging rights to my friends to say I have the latest and greatest os on my phone.
And for that I thank you all

Use the leaked update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30846512#post30846512
Only custom rom that is running the leaked "customized" version of the verizon rom is thuderstick red Bull. It's a nice, verizon friendly rom
Only rom that is Verizon friendly? I've ran several roms. The toro roms work. Some have issues that some do not. Bugless beast works, so does CM nightlies. There are many flavors of jb just try and use the one that works for you. Its not a contest. Its your phone play, test, find the rom that works best for you. Saying one developer is better than the other. Its all user choice. And developers deserve appreciation its their work that make customizing possible.

This translates roughly to "I had to search Google, because Verizon is retarded. "

I never said that there is ONLY one Verizon Friendly rom out there, there's almost 100 of them that work perfectly fine. There's plenty of "toro" roms out there, but the specific question was stability and if he didn't want to veer too far away from Stock, while still maintaining a working set of Verizon apps. I use the Verizon apps as well, but it's always a manual process and when it breaks there's always a procedure.
I too like the Verizon data usage widget comes in handy. I totally agree that there are alot of roms that the app gave the log in issue before Verizon's gn update. But like I posted in other posts I reverted back to the k ota. But after today that sprint is updating today we will be soon to follow. So I will half fast for a week or 2 more before I never look back on OTA again. :banghead:

I was ticked for the slap in the face from Verizon. Letting Sprint beat our phones to JB. So I changed my mind on waiting for the ota. Loaded JRO03O. Seems solid and fast. More bars in radio than I ever had both WiFi and lte/cdma. I can say this my last damn contract!
