Bought the epic touch on release date. Could never get decent battery life on cm9. Thought I'd try a new battery since they're only $13. Went from under 2 hours screen on to 3 hours screen on time. Totally worth the 13$

Nice. I was thinking of getting a second battery. You just get a stock 1800 mAh one?

You could have picked one up for free at the Sprint store. I just exchanged two batteries, mine and the wife's, they didn't even check me in or look at the batteries. You're right, though, a new battery makes a huge difference.

Maybe adapter would be okay but others ones have different voltage they put out. Like a BB charger I use is 1A and the stock Samsung is 750mA
If I'm not mistaken ?

Just be careful and read the specs on all 3rd party chargers....one I bought for car has trashed the battery.
Sprint just replaced mine, can get up to 12 hours with moderate use

That's exactly how mines is.. Had my phone for, 7 months and get that type of battery life.. I screwed up my battery though before my knowledgeable days on XDA.. Gonna just buy a new one off Amazon.. Great deals on there
No doesn't seem normal. Do you leave you phone on the charger for long periods? Maybe a bad battery cell.

I know one gets what u pay for, and the only extended battery of mention is Mugen, but I thought I share this:
Check out this item I found on eBay:
End time: Sep 6, 2012 8:45:12 AM
Item: 3800mAh Extended Battery + Door Cover Case For Samsung Captivate Glide SGH-i927
URL: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=150873938269

I guess I should mention, that two or so months ago, all these "chinese extended batteries" weren't around for the glide, now ebay is flooded with them. And I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck with them. And yes, mugen extended is still the battery of choice. Wasn't there "acesoft" batteries at one point too?

Yeah, I just stumbled upon this and would love to see how it works. Sounds like it could be an excellent way to spend $10.
I recently got a "chinese extended battery" of a similar make via ebay for my gfs HTC Thunderbolt, and she tells me that, and i quote "seems to last just a lil bit longer" than her stock battery.
I also just purchased one for the glide today, so I'll see how it holds up. I may just pay the $80 for the Mugen battery, because I hear nothing but awesome things.
But i also use a portable phone charger, which works great. Marware 2,600mah portable charger, that i got for $5 via dealnews back in july ( http://dealnews.com/Marware-2-600-m-Ah-AMPED-Portable-Charger-for-5-5-s-h/592609.html) I think they go for $20 or so on amazon? but it works GREAT! a lil odd to keep in your pocket though.. lol, and theres a detachable usb cable u must also haul around
test

So I got bored and picked up a cheap 3800mah battery of eBay for around $10. I wanted to get the laza one with nfc but it isn't available in Canada. Once been running the cheapie for a few days now. I no longer have to charge at work and after 9 hours of light use on the weekend I am down less than one quarter.
Biggest downside is the supplied back doors not quite fit right.

Just an update. Battery life is consistently good. I leave work without charging at around 50%. Previously if I didn't charge while at work I would be down to 10-15%. I can play a hell of a lot of minecraft these days days. The issues with the back turned out to be from some plastic flashing. I cleaned up the edge and it sits snugger than the original back. Not bad for under$10

Extended OEM battery for the T-mobile Galaxy Nexus works great on our phone in the original case too! NFC capable.
Oh I can defiantly agree with that statement with an astrix, the old back does fit but it takes some force to get it to stay completely sealed and after about 6mo I had to replace the back of the device because the clips that held it on no longer worked properly just an FYI.....

Not sure if this a ROM, kernel, or hardware problem but lately my phone has started to discharge if I'm using it on the charger. It'll charge normally but when I start using it, it gets hot and I lose battery. I'm running the latest stable vanilla rootbox with ktoonz kernel.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
That sounds normal to me. If you're using more than you draw, you'll lose instead of gain and the battery will heat up even more.

It's just math and physics.
If you are gaining, say 1A per hour and using it at a higher rate you will necessarily lose charge instead of gaining it.
Anyone's phone will do the same, that's just how batteries work. They heat up if you're putting them through a lot of stress - like continuously putting energy into it while taking it away at the same or higher rate.
If you want to continuously use the phone, buy a set of spare batteries and rotate them in and out.

Might be your usb cable/voltage output/ whatever u use to charge ur phone. Not enough power to charge it fast enough when you are using it.

I'd try another cable too. On stock rom I had no discharge while charging issues so there is no reason you shouldnt be able to charge normally again.
Also check the usb port on the phone. If it's dusty try blowing into it. Check that it isn't loose also.
