Internal Storage Not Detected - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys. I recently flashed a new rom on my Nexus, and now when I go to the camera it says internal memory not available, and I also cannot download my files stored on 4Shared, or Drive. However, using the stock file explorer, I am able to navigate my internal memory. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I've tried reflashing the rom twice and clear everything every time. Also redownloaded the rom and flashed that. Thanks
SOLVED:
Couldn't figure out what the problem was, but figured out how to fix it. What you need to do is format your internal storage. I found the easiest way to do that is to lock, and unlock the bootloader. That should format it. Thanks!

Sounds like your permission is messed up... It sounds like the memory is in read-only mode.
If you can still download apps, download Root Browser and follow the instruction here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474987
Just check all the permissions and you should be good to go
Hope it helps

It's giving me an error saying that some files (the sdcard folder), are not editable, and the permissions cannot be changed.

It does allow me to change the permissions on the "storage" folder, but after changing them the sdcard0 folder inside disappears, until I change them back.

If I factory reset and completely wipe everything, will these permissions still be in place, or do I have to redo the process?

Accidentally deleted stock Task Manager!!

So i just installed the new BM 5.0 and i was deleting unwanted apps via Titanium Backup pro .. i was doing it so fast that i accidentally deleted task manager! now everytime i click on the widget "Active Application" it fore closes! i tried to look for the stock task manager in the app store but could not find it! is there a way to undo the delete without doing a nandroid restore?
Use the feature in Titanium that can pull apks from cwm backups. You should be able to fix it with that.

1) Open TB
2) Go to Backup/Restore
3) Option soft key
4) More
5) Extract from Nandroid backup
6) Pick Task Manager
I personally tried it once and it didn't work for me, worst comes to worst I'll upload you the JobManager.apk (I assume that's the one you're talking about? The Samsung task manager?). But I assume it works, otherwise they wouldn't include the feature.

To install it, you'll need a file explorer with root access (ES File Explorer, ROOT File Explorer, etc.). Then you'll have to move it to /system/app (to get to /system you'll have to go one level up from /sdcard to get to the root folder /). Make the permissions read "rw- r-- r--" (how you do that depends on what file explorer you use) and then reboot. Should fix the issue.

It'll be an option in root explorer along the lines of "root access". I don't know the exact process because I use ES. Play around in the settings of root explorer until you find it. By default it's disabled to prevent users from actually screwing with their system operating system without knowing what they're doing.
did not find anything under settings but there was a button that said Mount R/O or Mount R/W ... so i selected the file to move then i went to system/app thrn i clicked the mount button on the top and it worked! Thank u so much for ur help and fast responds! u really saved mr from alot of grief.

Was it working fine when you first installed it? Either way, there's always 5 generic steps you should always take first when trying to resolve an issue:
1) clear application data
2) reboot to recovery and clear cache
3) clear dalvik cache
4) fix permissions
5) reboot
See if that fixes your issues

Where are adb pushed files saved?

So yesterday I was stupid and accidentally wiped my internal sd when trying to install a rom so ended up having to adb push a rom file with twrp. I pushed it to "adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/" and it showed up in twrp so I could install the rom but now I can't seem to find the rom file anywhere. Any ideas where it might be?

there is only one place it could be.

Yeah I know, it's weird... I've tried searching in multiple apps for the file too and they don't find anything. Do you happen to know of any apps that scan for large files? I guess it's not a big deal if I can't find it but I'm kind of ocd about organization and keeping free space lol.

I highly suggest "root explorer" but a few nice free file managers are: oi file manager, astro, es file manager.
Def. very weird that can't find it. Any of those apps can see the ROM files. Oh trust me man I'm a bit OCD myself, i understand.
The sdcard is actually 0/storage/emulated

Workaround to write to Ext SDCARD?

I just switched from my M7 to the M8 yesterday. I was excited to have the external SD for saving pictures, moving apps, but mostly to host my backups. I have since unlocked my bootloader and rooted the device. Unfortunately I'm unable to write any back ups through TWRP to the card. I was wondering if anyone found any fixes? I've already tried SDFix but it seems not to work with our device. Any help would be appreciated!
Sidenote: I know this probably belongs under development but I'm unable to post yet as my post count is too low. Thanks again!

You will need to edit platform.xml file in/system/etc. Are you comfortable ?
I'm not sure. If there was a tutorial that was available I could possibly follow it. Otherwise is this something that could be included in future rom builds? I wouldn't mind waiting.

Look for nextapp's SDFix in the play store.. Root and system write protection off is required. It basically edits the file for you (also backs up the original)

the quick way? go to the module thread in Original development and follow the instructions. You'll have to do it at every boot though unless you're on a rom that supports init.d support. If you're on stock I made a guide to disable it on boot automatically without init.d support

I tried it again using "su". I'm pretty sure that is what I used the first time as well because when I entered the command the super user prompt came up to allow access for terminal. Same results. Didn't see any confirmation. Exited app and tried running SDFix and failed again. I then followed your link to your thread and followed step by step. Got all the way to the point where I was trying to save the text document at the end and got the prompt that I could not save the file.
I'm usually pretty good at following tutorials and I'm sure I'm not skipping steps but who knows. I think this one has me defeated lol.
If you put it on your SD card try just /sdcard/wp_mod.ko

If you run the command.. And then run it again. It will tell you it already exists that's how I figured out it ran ok..

Sure. Here it is:
You need to make following change to platform.xml in /system/etc.
Add <group gid="Media_rw"/> under WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE(or similar).
Save. Set Permission to rw-r-r or 644.
Reboot and Enjoy
Good luck :good:

Well I ran through both tutorials (yours and the others) once again. Entered the command twice to confirm and got the message "failed file already exists". So I'm assuming that part went through fine but still unable to run SDFix successfully or edit the install_recovery.sh file. Wouldn't allow me to save through es text edit or the standard one.
So now I'm trying to manually change the platform.xml file. When I navigate to system/etc I don't see any file named "platform.xml". Also tried a search through es file explorer and couldn't find any file. Any thoughts?

Are you mounting it as r/w in the file explorer? It doesn't seem like you're doing that. I know the module works.. You can't just install the module and it's magically writable.. you still have to make it r/w in a file explorer before you make any changes. I don't use es. I use root explorer and there is a r/w button on top.

As of now recovery doesn't support exfat formatted cards, If your sd card is formatted as exfat it will fail in recovery. You need to either format your external sd card to fat32 or just wait until the recovery is updated to support exfat. It will once they get kernel source code

How far out do you think that is? I was figuring I could just get a cheaper card for my backups. Only thing is if I remember correctly Fat32 only supports up to 4GB files correct? I remember my backups being a tad over that so getting another card might not even make a difference.

[Q] Update Noticifation?

My T705 is running very nicely on KK and I'm not really too bothered about updating it to Lollipop. So is there a way to get rid of the Update icon in the notification bar?
Thanks
If you are rooted you should not get the notification.
There is a guide but it is for the S3 phone, it might give you a guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856632
John.
I think that means you've already downloaded the update. From memory you should have a folder named FOTA on your internal storage. Delete that to get rid of the notification.
However it would be better to actually move it to your external sd card for future use.
Also I'm sure you can disable automatic updates in settings.
The only FOTA files I could find were these, please see image attached.

Should be a normal folder. If it's not there then you probably don't have the update downloaded yet.

It could be in the root of your internal storage. You may need a file manager such as es explorer that can show root folders.

I've tried a couple of file manager apps but all I can find called FOTA is what's shown above.
No they are just apps.
It must be there somewhere. It is most certainly on your internal storage.
It may not necessarily be in a folder called fota. That is coming from memory. Ota's are usually zips, but could be named anthing.

If it's there, which it is, it's keeping itself very well hidden. The various Root File Explorers I've used just cannot find it!!
Looks like I'll just have to put up with it.
Can an file manger with a large file finder not find it for you, if the file is 800mb+ it should show up.
Try File Manager HD

Have you looked in Android/data? Both internal and ex sdcard.
I eventually found it, don't ask how!! I moved it to the ext SD card and now the notification has gone. Ironically it wouldn't have installed anyway because my T705 is rooted and OTAs don't install on a rooted device.
Thanks to all.

Permission denied deleting OBB file

Hi Guys,
I'm having some Problem deleting a file in the /sdcard/Android/OBB folder. it seems to be causing me problems and not letting me update one of my apps.
Here are the things i've tried to do.
Clear the cache of my app and the play store
Tried using terminal with SU, just got "Premission denied"
Tried using SU to change the CHMOD to 777, no luck on it actually changing that at all
Tried going to TWRP to uninstall it. however in recovery, when i got to the OBB folder, it was empty for what ever reason even though it is not when i use a file browser when the phone boots up.
Let me know if you have any idea what could cause this problem?
Thanks!

I cannot rename it as well
This is very frustating. The folder contents 4GB game files i don't use anymore
Edit: Apparently, i can rename the folders but not the file inside. So, maybe i can now update or re-download those apps.
But, all i want is just to remove those files, cause they use too much space. Even if i want to re-download those apps, the new apps will create a new obb folder, right? So those big obb files will be duplicated. That's not good

Hi Guys,
I'm having some Problem deleting a file in the /sdcard/Android/OBB folder. it seems to be causing me problems and not letting me update one of my apps.
Thanks!

May your obb file was located in your sd card boot to your twrp then advance/file manager/external_sd/media/obb then open it and click the check button then choose the chmod and just type 777 you should also do that to the existing folder inside obb the reboot your device

That's not good
Edit 2: SOLVED
The actual location is /data/media/obb, i can delete those obb files from there [emoji4]

I just ran into this issue yesterday and was glad I found this post. I couldn't chown or chmod the directory or file even though I was root. Deleting it from data/media/obb fixed it.
