Question about Menu and Back Button - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I tried to search through the forums but could not find the answer. I have two sprint Galaxy S3 32 GB Pebble Blue.
They almost look same except on one menu and back button are clearly marked with some kind of ink. So they are visible without any lighting (i.e. even when battery is out).
On the second one, Back and Menu button are totally invisible until it lights up when touched.
Does anyone know about this difference or if there is any quality difference between the two?

Mine aren't lit up. I have no clue about that. They aren't supposed to be like that

Maybe it's a defective piece. The one with painted menu and back button gets hot sometimes while the other one stays cool all the time. Also I have noted that when I make a call sometimes I cannot hear anything on the one with painted buttons. I have to disconnect and call again to fix that.

I'd return it for a new one.

I agree. These phones are not supposed to have buttons like that.

Thanks for the information. It's going back to sprint.

It's shows like the buttons never turn off completely. So yes go back to Sprint.

Pebble blue capacitive buttons dim?

Has anyone noticed that some pebble blue Galaxy S III's capacitive buttons are dim? I was looking at my friends Pebble Blue S3 to get S-Beam to work and I noticed his buttons were very bright and noticeable. I then looked at mine and it was ridiculous how dim mine were compared to his! Has anyone noticed that with theirs?

Mine are dim too. Doesn't really bother me though
I keep them off all the time.

Thanks for this idea. I didn't even know that it was in cm.

I've decided to do the same. That was one of my only gripes, realized the phone looks so much better now with them off. Cm and TW offer. JellyBean TW has them off at all times unless you use them, but they wont turn on when you touch the screen which is nice but overall off is better.

Me too. Can't find a reason to keep them on at all. And the phone looks better with them off.

Pm djintrigue he has it
I've noticed that the blue is slightly dimmer as well.
It's not a big grippe though, like everyone else in this thread, I keep mine off.
It's less-obtrusive at night, and it saves a little battery as well.

[Q] Cracked screen finally went black, what now?

So my screen has been cracked for a while now, and I just found out from asurion that I cannot make another claim for like 8 months
I have been using it up until last night when the screen stopped working all together. The soft keys light up, but the screen remains black. Phone still makes noises from notifications and the led lights up as well. Does anyone have a phone that is dead that possibly I could take the digitizer from and try to make mine work? They are expensive as hell on ebay, as they all seem to work still, just cracked. What should I do? Any info would really be appreciated. Thanks guys
The digitizer has nothing to do with the screen turning black. Your actual lcd/screen is gone bro.

Screen over button and left corner bleeding pink blue.

I am very careful with my phone, screen protector, case, never dropped. Pulled it out of my pocket this afternoon and noticed a small pink area just over the button and to the left lower corner of the screen. as the evening progressed the area is now larger, about the size of a quarter over the button and near the corner.
Not sure what the hell is causing this, i'll try and post some pictures.
Attached image,
sorry for crappy resolution, was with an iphone.

The screen is bleeding from the lower mid to left of the screen, i can see the text and images under the colored area fine, To me it looks like the screen has separated. The touch screen is working fine. I have no idea how it happened, I do know that it was never dropped and never came in contact with water.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Has happened to mine as well. I have a pink dot in the middle of the left side of the screen. I read that it is a defect in the screen. It's annoying an want to turn it in on warranty but can't be without my phone for a month.

I'll have to send it out,its now 1/4 the way up the screen. I'll have to use my Iphone for a while till this guy comes back.. From preliminary talks with Bell, they sound like they will push the "You dropped it" card... it will be hard to prove for them cause the lack of any physical damage, but hey, they are douche bags after all.
So this is as of 2 mins ago.
It's crazy, by tomorrow it will be 1/2 the screen!.
Update - The screen is now completely Blue with a dark blue section near the bottom.
This morning image
the more i look at it, the more i think water got inside your phone 0_0
I've never seen water do that to a display.
It wasn't water, It's under warranty so it's being replaced, so i'm happy about that. Showed it to the "support Tech" and the response i got was "Holy Sh*t"
It was a screen defect where the AMOLED display actually separated .

anyone had any problems with a dead spot on their screen?

I am on my 3rd Optimus G and haven't had and dead spots. I am assuming you are referring to pixels. There was someone on IRC who had an OG with a broke screen. His issue was half the screen didn't come on. I am not sure if that was a hardware issue or if it was physically broke.
I have only had one screen issue and it was on all three OG I have had. There is a bit of light leak on the edges and top. Light leak is when the back light of the screen shines around the edges on a dark screen. I think that is a common universal issue. But, the screen is very vivid and not many people have had complaint about it.
Can you clarify you issue? We might be able to give you some ideas. If you are the original purchaser it is under warranty still. If not, I recommend TEP. If you are on XDA then TEP is a must.

What happened to the previous 2?
when i run my finger across the screen in the middle it wont detect my touch. if i turn on the options in the developers setting to see what its doing you can see when it traces a line, it skips in the middle and starts again about a half inch later. only had the phone for a week or so, so thats not a problem. had a similiar issue on my evo shift way back when. had to take it to sprint store then too. any way i have an appt at 9 to have them take a look at it

Held my rum and coke under my phone while texting drunk. The phone is big, the cup was bigger. 0.4 nano seconds was all it took.
Second one, testing gone wrong, fixing went full [email protected] wrong.

well they are out of stock on the G.. on backorder for a week before i can get replacement. wtf.
had to laugh cuz the "tech" didnt know how to turn off the screen touch traces in the developer settings lol
man this is annoying. seems like everything on the phone depends on that part of the screen ie hitting send for texts and other things lol

Have you tried in landscape? This is a way for me to do certain things when customers come into the store with touchscreen issues.
Landscape is more annoying than the screwed up spot lol

Comfortable to use?

I know everyone has been hating on the black bar below the on screen keys, but I was wondering if it actually makes using the phone more comfortable since you don't have to bend your fingers quite so far to reach the keys. Just wondering if those who have used the M8 thought the same thing. Hopefully I'll get to play with one here sometime.

You'll get used to it . The main concern is the size of the phone so I think that will be your main problem.
