Hey guys...
I don't have the option to select network mode in AOKP. I've added the Rogers LTE apn and I'm using the stock Rogers modem.
Any hints or clues that I'm missing?

This was in the Changelog of the AOKP JB ROM.
AOKP Jellybean 8.23.2012
For Canadian users to get LTE do this
*#*#4636#*#*
phone information
"set preferred network type:"
"change to LTE/GSM auto"
Hope this helps.

I was wondering if this Skyrocket rom would work for our phones? Its tweaked cm7 so I was not sure if it was or not.

He says at one point in the instructions Tmobile users skip filling in the APN settings, so I would think so.

Just unlocked and Rooted my phone and added a custom ROM (Dark-AOSP) But now I dont have any service from my provider any ideas?
Don't double post in General and Q&A..... I'll respond here too.
I'm assuming GSM? Have you gone into your Settings > More > Mobile networks > Network operators, and checked your provider? And then setup your APNs?
Check setting-about phone-baseband.
there is no baseband

That's what I was thinking too, the APNs.
Well it says Baseband:Unknown and I cant even check my Network Provider, When i was Flashing the Rom and error came up :asset failed:samsung.update_cdma_modem(package_extract_file"Radio-cdma.img"))
Try flashing your radio.

Bingo. Looked like it from the error he got.
OP, you need to completely nuke that device and re-flash something GSM.
Anything equivalent to darkAOSP?
I would first flash back to stock. The image is found here: http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
If you don't know how to do that there are many resources in this forum to walk you through it.

Don't need to lock the bootloader. Just download and flash the GSM images to get back to stock and make sure everythings working. Then you can load the GSM ROM of your choice.
Ok so I have a few questions if you guys would allow me to pick your brains.
I have installed cm9.1 on the galaxy s2 (SGH-T989) using clock work recovery. The phone is rooted using superSU. Pretty standard as far as it goes here. However:
<s>1) I have no wifi calling option and its running android 4.0.4 (ICS). Is this normal for this rom or do I need a different kernal or modem/radio to make this work? Because stock has this feature and its really important to keep message/calling costs down and get service in dead zones.</s>
2) I cannot get 4G data. Only "H" and 3G. I got Edge/2G/3G/4G with stock. Is this normal or do I need to do something else to get this to work?
3) What are good custom kernals to use for this phone because I looked on the sticky and there are only three listed and some are discontinued. Also what are the major advantages of a custom kernal over samsungs stock? I.E. What does it add/modify?
4) Do custom radios change signals your phone can pick up? What exactly does changing the radio do?
THANKS!
~NEW!~
1)Since no wifi calling is a deal breaker for me I'm going to try a new rom, so! I'm looking at darkside and akop. Any opinions on these roms or experiences you guys have had with these good or bad?
2) CWM vs TWRP ~ GO!
Just trying to get better informed. Thanks everyone! :highfive:
Also if there are guides I missed that explain these things I'm sorry just link me to them if you would be so kind. Thanks!

This and stick with stock kernels for now. Different radios work better in different areas, so just try until you find the best one for you.

Haha yea after I got the answer I felt dumb I just never saw the little icon use "H" to explain a radio type and didn't think about that related to 4G as standing for hspa. Also I learned hspa exists using WCDMA. Cool. :victory:
The "H" means HSPA+ which is 4g.
Only Touchwiz ROMs have Wifi Calling (CM9 is AOSP Based)
The best kernel to use is the Darkside Venom Kernel for CM9 AOSP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775075
As far as radios go they can change the amount of signal. Certain radios make signal better in different areas. I PREFER THE GALAXY NOTE RADIO FOR Galaxy S2 (T-Mobile)
HOPE THIS HELPED!
Darkside, only tw roms have wifi calling, aosp roms like cm9,10 and aokp dont.

IPTables
Is there a kernal i can flash with the stock rom that would give me iptables/netfilter?
Hi mates you all alright?
I am just new to the Glide (from SE Xperia Mini Pro and Moto Droid Pro)
Have been using this phone for few days happily. And had been trying stock roms including AT&T and Rogers, GB and ICS
1. I just wonder if there is a trick to unlock the 2G/3G toggle function of stock AT&T ICS? I know its not a problem for Rogers Rom.
2. I also wonder if there is any method to enable the Service Mode *#*#4636#*#* and other #* menus? These are also working on Rogers but not AT&T
Thank you guys for enlightening me.
I think you need to deodex the rom and then flash toggle 2g

I guess I have been making a very stupid mistake, that I was not using the stock dialer to input this code.

Thats covered in the thread. T999 roms cant usually show lte in the statusbar. You have to stsrt a download and check Network Type under Settings, About Device, Status.

I think with 4.1.2 tw ROMs it should show it, I tried it with an at&t s3 and it showed lte on statusbar, but not with 4.1.1 it would connect to it but just show 4g.. Of course idk if its different with the t-999l

At&t has lte, so their roms will have the ability to display it. The T999 isnt capable of lte, so its roms have no need to show it in the statusbar

This. Mine showed "4G" on the bar, when I checked the Status page (the one that Doc is referring to) it showed LTE.

Either way, it boils down to this. On a T999L you will get LTE if its available in your area. Whether or not is shows this in the statusbar is just rom dependant, but you will still get LTE.

cool all i want to do with my tmobile galaxy s3 lte is install a t999 custom rom that works with the t999l because the lte model has no roms yet,but if the t999 are compatable with no issue ill flash away,
just wanted to no if anyone had success and what was there procedure
the lte is incredibly fast night and day compared to the t999
There are a few things to look out for. Just re-read the first several posts in both my Q&A and Development threads and at least skim over the last few pages of the Q&A one.
