Hi
Are there any headphones / earphones which have a remote control for music control. There are loads of them for the iPhone, but any of them that is compatible with the SGS2?

I'm using "Headset Button Controller" to control a pair of iPhone headphones.
It only works with the center button, but it supports single/double/triple key presses. So it controls: start/stop, and advance to the next song, as well and answer/disconnect incoming calls.
If u r looking for bluetooth ones, just make sure they support AVRCP.
If u r looking for wired ones, most of those vol+/- buttons won't work, but yes, still are compatible.

Posted this on the other thread. Might be of interest to you:
I have a pair of Beats by Dre with Control Talk (for iphone/ipod) and the functionality is the same. The play/pause button works but the vol up/down buttons don't.
Also, I have a pair of Shure 215. They are more bass-prominent than "signature Shure" sound but they don't muffle mids and highs like the Beats do. Anyway, I found these from Earphonesolutions after I got a SGS2.
SHURE SE215A ANDROID & BLACKBERRY COMPATIBLE EARPHONES
(not letting me post a link due to my low post count)
The description says works with "most Android phones" so I guess they're not guaranteeing anything. Too bad I got a pair of those without the buttons before I got the phone. But I thought it might interest some people.
HTC headphone are working great (with all buttons). You can find them anywhere on the internet..
STIL...if i remember well, they are fully working with certain kernels.
Ițm using Nimphetaminețs kernels
I use the Zagg Smartbuds witch works great.
I have a set of the bose ear bud headphones that worked unbelievably on my HTC HD2's and the answer button worked too. with the sII, nothing buttons work and the volume is pretty low.
could an app fix that?
Hey, found this piece of gadgetry - Etynomic MC2. Looks promising, any ideas from anyone about how these are. Apparently they have an Android remote.

I've had the old school Etymotics back in the past, they were great sounding, especially in the high end and mids. However, Etymotics are known to skim on the low end, so if you are a bass thumper, I would avoid unless you can tune the EQ like in Poweramp.
Not sure about the remote working with Android, I've had good customer experience with them, so I think what is listed on their site is true. Though I would email them beforehand to make sure.
Sorry double posting
I am using SE MW600, it can skip to the previous or next track, play and pause, show you the song title, and also show you the phone no of the incoming or outgoing call. The sound quality is good. you should try it out.
I heard Klipsch S4i works well .. I dont have so I cant confirm just browse through the forum you will get it
Looking for some headset type adapter that i can use and plug into my cassette adapter, like you know press once to pause, press twice to advance and three times to go back.
I have tried bluetooth/FM transmitters and they degrade the quality and have to much static, or maybe blutooth adapter that has a headphone jack.
Its a pain to control music while driving with all android devices I have owned, that requiring unlocking the screen and making sure to press the correct buttons etc.
Or maybe there is a car doc for the S3 that puts the phone in dock mode and keeps the screen on like a GPS?
You can buy an adapter that's mic used to turn an ordinary headphones into a wired headset. They normally have a button on them one press to pause 2 to skip etc. I bought one from shure awhile ago.
Link please, I also just found out the Infuses 4G car mount actually fits and works with th s#. Now i just have to find a place that sells or at least ships to Canada.

see my car is not fancy enough that it has a remote which if it did would solve all my problems. I think the best option here is to buy Car Home Ultra. Its 2 bucks and the trial actually works good and has built in media controls, so you don't need to navigate away from the screen.
This works out best coz i can buy a universal dock so all 3 drivers can use the dock and have the same function since they are all Android or at least until i can find a infuse car mount.

Here: http://www.i-luv.com/product_detail.asp?idx=1387
amazon sells it. You can also modify the resistors inside and get the volume buttons to work too.
i'm not sure if you know but the S3 also has voice control if you're using the stock music app.
it only works well if there is zero cabin noise while driving. the 2nd mic is terrible when it comes to background noise suppression.
just turn on "Voice cmd for apps" under "Language and Input" in the Settings.
^ Thanks I know and have it enabled. I use it for my alarm and tried the music app as well. I find i have to yell at the phone especially to turn the dam alarm of in the morning.
@sbddude Will check out its exactly what i need. Still will get a cheap universal dock + Car Home Ultra.
Hey Guys.
First the basic question: Is there any possible way that a 3 button headset can have all it's 3 buttons working on android, where ALL 3 can be customized?
To elaborate.. the app Headset Button Controller has 3 buttons (left, right, middle) that are customizable. However, I have looked through the threads here and only found that the middle button is usable, and lots of complaints about the other 2 buttons of certain headsets only being Iphone compatible.
I doubt that the 2 buttons that the dev designated in his app are there just for a goof (or for re-designation of the middle button via editing the .KL file), so there has to exist at least 1 example of a 3 button headset/wire that would make use of this.
And to clarify the function of this wire, the earbuds that came with my Note 2 have 3 buttons, but the left and right seem to be fixed on volume control only, so unless there is a way to make them work, I'll consider these ones not the customizable buttons that Headset Button Controller had in mind.
So my 2nd question: What are some examples of headset wires/wired headphones/earbuds where Headset Button Controller will affect all 3 buttons?
Here is my personal ranking of what I'm trying to find:
1) Independently sold headset wire w/ a working customizable 3 button headset
2) Earbuds with a customizable 3 button headset (these are cheaper to buy for the headset repair guy I know to dismantle so that they can be attached to my bose headphones. Same applies to #4)
3) Headphones with a separating customizable 3 button wire
4) Headphones (hopefully cheap) with a permanently attached customizable 3 button wire.
The idea is to get any sort of working working customizable 3 button device and make the right button skip tracks. The reason why using 1 button won't do the trick anymore is because Google Now decided to hog the middle button long click to itself, and even if I would double click, this can be wrongly done and activate Google Now when I have no need of it. So I can leave the middle button with Google Now and have the other two buttons for anything I want based on Headset Button Controller (once again, why would it even have 3 buttons if they were useless?)
Even though there is a trick that can be done by editing the .kl file in order to make your headset think it's clicking the right or left button, this had the crappy bonus of disabling the ability to pick up and drop calls when pressing the middle button, so that's a no go either.

I still don't quite understand one thing.. has anyone looking at this thread used the side buttons on this and/or the beats cable you sent me for anything other than volume?
This is the biggest question for me.. is there any feasible way for the side buttons to be customizable (without getting rid of the volume buttons function on the phone itself).
If no possible way, than I'll move on and just order my single button headset to be repaired (though I am still flabbergasted as to why android headset control apps even give the two buttons to edit if this function has never existed)
If yes, but only on certain android devices, then this function can possibly be added to the Note2 via editing some of the internal files... in this I would greatly appreciate anyone who has a 3 button controller proven to have it's 2 side buttons be customizable on other devices, to try editing one of the system files so the Note 2 would be able to do this as well.
If you are not sure but have one of the 3 button cables with you, I would buy you coffee if you were ever in NYC if you could please download Headset Button Controller and try customizing the two side buttons.
Just so we are on the same page, when I say customizable, I mean going to an app like Headset Button Controller and changing the left and right button to do anything I would want them to do (forward, back, pause, etc)
Thank you and sorry for the long message.
PS: I'm super cereal about buying coffee.
Ive had that same question. The answer is generally no they cant be programmed as they are hardcoded volume up/down.. But some phones might be programmable after all if the maker lets them be.
The latest phone leaving all 3-buttons customizable was the Nexus 3 manufactured by Samsung as far as I know it. Actually there is a list of 3 button functionality here: http://apphelp.degausslabs.com/phones/
This list confirms 3-button function or not, but that does generally mean the up/down button are hard coded for volume only.

Hi there,
Has anyone found a pair of good headphones with a mic that are compatible with advanced commands such as volume up/down, next track etc.? My pair of Sennheisers can start and stop, but none of the more advanced settings worked. I tried various apps to assign actions to one button headsets and had no luck at all. Actually, even the basic functions of start/stop are lost when those apps are active. To my knowledge the only headphones that have been reported to retain advanced button assignments are these ones: Samsung ehs64avfbe, but I am reluctant to buy a Fairphone one the one hand and a cheap pair of headphones on the other.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Headphones update
OK, I took the plunge and bought a pair of Senheiser MM 30G. My reasoning was that I had seen somewhere that a pair of cheapish Samsung headphones worked well with the fairphone, and that the MM 30G had been manufactured for Samsung phones. The headphones have a three button command, which are supposed to be volume up/down as well as a start/stop button, which will also answer and end calls.
Out of the box the buttons actually did: next song instead of volume up, and previous song instead of volume down. The middle button for start stop works fine. This is acceptable for me, as I can change the volume quite easily even without taking the phone or of my pocket (the volume rocker is quite tactile even through jeans).
Interestingly, when using different apps to assign button controls I could get the volume control to work via the remote on the headphones, but no long press options e.g. For next song were available. I am thus using them as they are with no extra apps, as being able to skip songs while cycling is important to me.
Hope this helps a bit.

Hey guys, have a very specific problem on my hands. I use my 1more triple drivers with this phone, sound is great, but unfortunately my "lower volume" button doesn't work. The center and "increase volume" button work just fine, and the headset should be compatible. The 1more controls work fine on other phones, and other headphone remotes work my HTC, so it isn't faulty hardware.
I browsed for a bit, and this seems to be a problem for everyone using this combination, although no one had a proper solution.
Does anyone know a fix for this? Perhaps change a value of some kind, flash a different kernel or something?
Same problem
I have a similar problem, I have these Samsung earbuds that have a volume rocker and play/pause button. I'm using and htc one a9 and when I press either the volume up or down, it turns down. The play/pause button works though, sorry I don't have a solution, but hopefully it makes this post a little more popular to gain support, if you find a solution for your problem, tell me, because the the solution is most likely related to my problem too. Good luck, I will be searching for a solution myself and will update you on a solution if I find one
This is a problem specifically with the gold ones. The only fix is to exchange it for the silver titanium ones.
Kinda forgot about this post, thought I'd give an update though. Contacted 1MORE, unfortunately they can't exchange my triple drivers due to the fact that i've owned them for almost a year(technically still within warranty, can't blame them though). As of now, I've been using an app named "Headset Button Controller" off the play store which allows you to assign certain actions to multiple presses of the headset buttons, allowing me to substitute the volume down button. Will get around to flashing a couple of roms in a while, might get lucky and it ends up working.
