Quick question about contact - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi guys,
To make it short, I'm coming from the s2. As first, I thought my contacts were saved in gmail but apparently they weren't. All of them are in my old Sim card which doesn't fit into the S3. Is there a way except cutting it to transfer them? I've tried to put my old Sim into a S2 but seem like it's deactivated. =S

The old SIM is most likely inactive true. However, if you put it into any phone that can read it, you can then merge them info your google account using wifi. you don't need the sim to be active on the network for that.

As per my knowledge, ther is two types of "multi sim"
1- the one that holds both of your sims into some smal circut, and there is a third sim connected to the circut, which you insert into the back of your phone, and keep the rest of the circut into the cover back.
2- there is another type, that you cut a small peice of your two sims , and re-attach it to a new SIM, and insert it into the sim hole into the phone.
the difference is if have a place in the back of your phone for the first type, use it, cause it keeps your sims in a good condition and can be used in any other phone, if you don't have a space for the circut, so you have to use the second type, but you can't use any of the sims separte, because you have already cut it.
now, the important part of that all, that you can't use both SIMs at the same time, none of the above solutions can make you online on both SIMs, because your phone of course dosn't support it, the phone is disigned to deal with one network only at the time, the above solutions only makes you to switch your phone off, then re-switch it on, to find your self on the other SIM, and you can do re-switching your phone to back to the first SIM.
hope that I was clear, and hope there is a program some day that can deal with both SIMs at the same time

thank for your generous replay ,but not all of the second tipe are compatible with our device and just for this reason, i send mail to them but i don't think that their dual sim works for jasjar ,this is the reason because they dosen't replay me nothing .

no,unfortunately and it seems so strang than nobody is interested in it
I did sent an email and I did get a reply (in dutch )
Apparently the dual sim sollution should be usable in our universal, u cut your sim card to pieces (cut the chip out) and put it in a specialy made simcard, that fits exactly in the universal like a normal simcard would.
In a special sim menu u can choose which one of the sim cards is used, BUT they cant be used at the same time if u wanted that u have to buy a dual dim phone, which probably has two radio circuits....

thank for your replay, but unfortunatly if it has a menu ,it's certainly not compatible for jasjar ,just tested this kind of dualsim.
Hi,
there is a third type of multi sim, it is the SuperSIM 16 in 1.
Phisically it is just like a normal SIM, but it can contain up to 16 virtual SIMs.
see: http://www.duosim.com
You need a special SIM and a hardware reader/writer (to be connected to a usb port), then you read your original SIMs and copy them to the SuperSIM with the progam delivered in the kit.
I bought one, I can read my SIMs, but when I try to write to the SuperSIM I receive an error (write failed!)
I wrote many times to the seller via web, e-mail and normal mail, but I had no reply, so I wasted my money and I still need a dual SIM.
I don't like to cut my SIMs, I previously bought a "type 1" (as described by mehegazy) but I cannot close the SIM holder on my Qtek9000.
Bye.

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem like you, and I started searching about.
I figured out with a lot of testing, that using the program "SuperSIM LY-600" from the link "http://www.duosim.com/download.html", totaly solved my problem, so now I have the supersim 16in1 loaded in my qtek9000 using up to 5 different numbers.
I hope that helps you.
Beware using the 16 in one sim cloning system.
Cloning your sim is in contradiction of you terms with the service provider, and can be illegal in some countries. IN brief: If yer caught yer busted!
Oh dont bother if you have a Vodafone UK sim as they use a Triple DES encryption on the card that simply will take you a year to break before you can brute force the IMSI and KA. Oh and yes I have played with this in the past.

Hi Jolas,
I used LY-600 as you suggested and now I can write to the supersim - GREAT!
Thank you very much.
But how can I switch between my two numbers on my Qtek900?
Is there a new menu? Where?
Switching the phone on and off doesn't switch the numbers.
Thank you again.

I'm happy this hepled you.
In the programs menu, you will find a shortcut names "STK". Just use it and you will find the menu 'switch number'.
In case you don't have the STK service, then probably you'll need a new ROM which is suppotring this service.

Hi Jolas,
you are very kind.
I cannot find an icon STK under Programs folder, maybe my ROM does not support this service, as you said.
I tested the supersim on other cellphone and it works, so the SIM seems to be OK.
I'll will further investigate.
Anyway thanks a lot !
Best wishes.

Yes, it does, but be aware you can't use the same time the same number through two different sims because your phone provider is going to lock your sim .

HELP!! GT-N5100 wrongly detects SIM card Forced Restart

I have an unrooted, purely stock GT-N5100.
I haven't put in the microSIM in its slot ever. I use it in airplane mode , only with Wi-Fi. But I have a problem where sometimes, it randomly detects that I have put in a SIM card( and it leaves me no option but to restart it). Then sometimes after detecting that, it detects that I have removed the SIM card and I again need to restart it. This gets really annoying and this time, it oscillated between the two cases as can be seen in the video below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr2UlC2VpgY
Now I don't have a SIM in the microSIM size, so I am Unable to really check by putting in a SIM card, there is nothing in the SIM slot, I checked by opening the flap.
Should I rush to the Samsung Service center to get it fixed? Any other Suggestions to fix it?

[Q] [q] no sim - not registered on network

Hello. I've read many threads like this but didn't find a solution for my problem, so I start a new one, my first thread.
I've bought a Note II (N7100) international version months ago and suddenly I got the message "not registered on network", "no sim", can't access to mobile networks and so on. Further, it is impossible to access to settings>more settings>mobile networks> "INSERT SIM CARD TO ACCESS NETWORK SERVICES". For a better knowledge I found a video on youtube it explains the exact issue I'm suffering.
I got this error when I was on stock rom, so in order to fix it, I thought it was the modem, so I rooted it, installed the criskelo rom v.17 and v 18 and didn't worked. Then I installed the file "modem.tar.md5" and no results. When I try to flash that file trough odin I got a message "removed" and then the phone reboot before the "pass" message.
I have tried my sim card on a S3 and it works, have tried the s3 sim card on my note 2 and it works too. It is like my phone does not match my own sim. When I went to the carrier they tried another sim and it works on my device. I have bought a new sim card and it DOES NOT WORK. I think it's a software issue because the phone worked with other sim cards. It is quite frustrating 'cause I have this issue for about 5 months and no solution come to me. I'm consider the hammer test for my Note II if I don't fix it during this month. Can't sell it, rent, borrow or give away because the phone DOESN'T WORK AS A PHONE.
Please, some kind soul, HELP ME!!!
Sounds like a hardware issue with the SIM card reader in your phone, not making a good contact with the first SIM.
Can't you just get the first SIM replaced?
Indeed, I thought it was the sim reader so I changed it, didnt worked. As I said the phone read some sim cards so I think its not a hardware issue. Please check the vĂdeo I left. Thank you for your response.

Should I upgrade my Sim Card?

I have been reading some really scary things regarding Sim Cards and viruses or malware or whatever and am wondering if I should change my sim card. A part of me thinks that the idea of a Sim card being infected is silly, but at the same time, I really would not know, lol.
If I were to upgrade my sim card...
Would it put my unlimited data at risk? (Verizon)
How would I go about changing my Sim? Could I use the sim that came with my note 4?
Also, should anyone even worry about their sim cards? o .0
SIM cards are free at corporate stores and you will not lose your unlimited.
Just take your phone in and ask for a new SIM. If they ask why tell them you've been getting errors or something. It takes like 5 minutes if there's no wait.
I don't think you can do a SIM swap online but you probably can by calling customer service from a different phone
Edit: If you call CS for a SIM swap make sure you have your other SIM on hand for the ICCID
Ah.. I see!
I actually tried to do a sim swap at home because google made it seem simple; however, it never worked to my knowledge. At first, I popped in the sim and it said that it was setting up, but never finished. While my phone was trying to activate with the new sim card, I went to the verizon wireless website and tried to activate my phone there, but could not find my phone listed in the section with previously activated phones. I did not try the option to activate a phone that wasn't registered already and just backed out. I did not - to my knowledge - see any screen indicating plan changes so I'm assuming that I did not do anything that could compromise my plan(?). When I dialed the number for activating sim cards, it went to the visual *611 screen and claimed that it did not recognize my number and asked me to log in to my verizon account. After doing so, nothing seemed to happen and it just sent me back to my home screen.
In hindsight, I probably should have stopped after it asked me to log in to my verizon account, but I suppose now all I can do is wait and ask questions to ease my anxiety x_x

You have to call that number from a different phone. Your phone doesn't hold your phone number so just popping a new SIM won't do anything.
You could try to do the "activate device" thing online but I don't know if there's an option to use a different SIM.

Dual Sim Phone/Contact App which allows assigning a sim to a contact

Hello,
as far as my research concluded the Note 10 doesn't support assigning contacts to a specific sim card.
While this isn't normally a problem since you can chose the setting to ask for each call, it is a problem when driving.
When starting the call from the car, it doesn't ask which sim card to use and therefore doesn't start the call at all.
Are there good alternative phone or contact apps which allow me to assign a specific sim to a contact?
Both the default app and the google phone app (currently my primary app) don't seem to support it.
Are there any good alternatives?
Thanks for any advice.

Try True Phone. Should be possible. This app has much more than just that.
Good question! I use all the time the dual sim function and it's such a non-sense having ro select all the time the SIM number I've got to use every single time... On my OnePllus 7T this used to be so simple....
Have been testing True Phone for about a month now and have been very happy with it so far.
Fixes my problem and allows a deep customization. Can absolutely recommend it.
I had a headache at work because of this. after all, a lot of necessary numbers were missing. I even lost my best friend's number, and besides, he moved to another city. But thank God I found a reference book, and it became easy to find a friend in France. I could not solve the problem with the phone. I had to buy a new one, I switched to an iPhone and am very pleased. And I advise you to go to the service or buy a new one.
