This is a section for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners having flashed the new 4.1.1 radios vs. the old ones from 4.0.4.
There are 3 options to choose from in this poll. If you feel they are better and have noticed a difference, check "Better". If you have noticed no difference at all, check "Same". Last, if you are experiencing more problems with it and it was better on your phone with the 4.0.4 radios, check "Worse'.
Hope this gives an insight to everyone who want to see lots of reactions to the new radios!
Be advised, this poll is to just gain some knowledge on how people are experiencing the new radios on their own phones.
I understand that everyone most likely will experience differences than others.

Gotta give it a little time to see how it is in different areas throughout the day.
Thanks! I created this thread hoping it would give a good insight to people. Let us know in the comments how it goes for you

I didn't see anything to get excited about in my area. Im covering about 50 miles on my trip home every day, and i cant say it's any better than the hybrid i was on. Still a few holes with poor coverage, LTE still the same where it's available, no change in 3G either. I'll roll it through the weekend and see how it pans out.
Edit: must be slightly better on my end...was pulling a full signal on 4G at the house momentarily. Typically only 3 bars.

I would guess most of the views are to see if it's worth it it not. Alot of folks are leary about flashing radios...give it time.

I actually get better coverage with the new radios. I notice it switches a lot faster from 3G to 4G, not to mention I'm getting 4G in areas I was only getting 3G before. I live in a very rural area and travel 40 miles to school each day, so I think I have a good area to test this over. I think it was well worth flashing the new radios, even though they've only been out a couple days.

At first I was getting good service and better speeds. But then after I restarted it, it wouldn't connect to 4G, would have poor reception, and for some reason at times, would show no bars at all except the letter "r"

Try to use a friends Tmo-GS2. If you don't mind the lines then buy it, if not, you will get really annoyed from the lines.

If you could get a rezound you wouldn't rather get the nexus? Rezound is using our same Qualcomm S3 MSM8600 chip.
As a phone, the S2 is absolutely fantastic. Does everything I want it to do. As a carrier, I'm still on the fence with t-mobile. Data speeds are plenty fast, but data reception seems to be a mixed bag.
well... when it comes to Reception, that is really the nature of the AWS technology which requires 2 wide bands 1700+2100 for up and down to work
so building penetration is always a compromise

Now that I am on the Galaxy S2, I can tell you that it is by far the best phone that I have ever owned. Even stock, it is absolutely blazing fast. After I put beastmod on it, the thing just flies, and this is before OCing. Keep in mind that ICS is supposed to be able to utilize dual-core technology to it's fullest so when the update comes up (it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when), our phones will be in for a nice tune-up. As for as internet speeds go, I can tell you that it is BLAZING fast. It is faster and more reliable than when I had my G2 (which was just last year).
I can't post pictures but I can tell you that the fastest I have ever gotten with my S2 (in the same service area that I tested my G2 just last year) is 31MBPS. For daily usage, I consistently get 7-14MBPS. I am downloading HD videos off of Youtube in a matter of 5-10 seconds. I am downloading and finishing music downloads as soon as it pops up in my notifications bar. The phone is fast in every way, and everything flows so well together. No lag, no hassle, it just works.
got my phone a few days back from my awesome girlfriend, amazingly fast, battery only lasts a day, from 9 till 6, as i always use data connection, 1850mhz, not much of juice for this 1.5 dual core monster, resolution is a draw back with this nice screen 4.52" i am talking about, only 480*800? meh, waiting for miui roms........ only alpha versions atm, touchwiz looks gay.
speaker is way better than i9000, louder at least! some people say they want metal back cover, i say hey, it is light!!! with this kinda size!
i would give 9 out of 10 for this phone, i wanna buy the sprint version, lol, cdma 2000. not available in china yet, too bad.
What app do I use to test for lines and blobs?

I've got the Nexus on Verizon and I am getting terrible cell reception. From where I am my other family members iPhone 4 is getting 3 bars while mine is either 1-2 bars or struggling to find a signal. To me this is a huge dealbreaker and I wanted to know if this is an unfixable hardware issue or a software issue that will be fixed in a later update because if it is hardware then I might use my exchange to get the HTC Rezound. Any help would be great, thanks!

Good luck with this thread. The fan boys will dominate you soon saying there are no problems. I have a thread on here highlighting the issues "sgn bad reception" and its clear as day there is an issue. But everyone will defend it.
However the adr mod with the xxkk6 radio seems to be a bit better for me anyways.

Well being a fan boy dosent help anything because there is definetly something wrong here. Standing in the same spot as me, the iPhone is getting several bars while mine cannot even find a signal.

Mine has terrible signal. My 4g is useless. It seems even on 3g my battery is eaten by my phone looking for solid signal.I can't listen to Pandora on 3g without buffering. I had a rent a razor. It had amazing 4g Always. Tier 2 cs offered to send me a new gnex. I didn't take it. I don't think it will fix anything. Thinking about trading back for a Razr. I

I have fantastic 4G signal almost everywhere in Atlanta GA. Had a bit of a glitch inside a large high rise building though on the 19th. no 4G at all there and it seems hand-off to 3g isn't that great. Been solid since though.
Nevermind. I'm just cranky.

So tomorrow I'm trading my epic touch for a galaxy nexus. Was seeing if anyone else had made this move and how their experience with the phone change was. I appreciate any input.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
i did the same thing and so far so good once you see this screen it just is like wow , the one thing i ididnt like about the epic touch was the screen resolution. Also i kinda miss 4g wimax but cant wait for lte my area is one of the couple scheduled to receive lte some time before the end of this year. And also this phone was a breeze to root and flash a new rom and 32gb internal is fine with me even tho i had like 40 something gb on my epic touch. The only problem with the nexus is the speaker isnt as loud and thats about it also dont expect really high benchmarks. but these issues arent as bad as the LOS on the epic touch which just was a pain at times
I made the switch and within 45 minutes was rooted and running a built from source jelly bean Rom. Loving my Google phone...

I was rocking an old lg slide phone and the galaxy nexus was the first android phone I got and boy is it great I love the customization options, the phenomenal devs on xda and other websites that are committed to this phone, and may I make a suggestion once you get you Gnex is to root and flash Codename Android 3.1.0 or AOKP M6 with faux123's kernel on it, by far the best two roms and kernel combo's ive ever used. As well you should get titanium backup it has saved me more than once.
Have fun with your new phone!!
I also made the switch. I'm fortunate in that I'm in a KC suburb that has LTE. The LTE signal is a lot stronger than the 3G, and of course way faster. It does drop off sometimes though, so I'm not sure Sprint is done tweaking on it.
I love the pure Google experience. The only negative I have for the Nexus is the battery life for me is not nearly as good as I had on the Epic 4G Touch. I'm on here tonight doing my preliminary research because I intend to root and ROM after work tomorrow night. I had my E4GT rooted and ROM'd with ICS before Sprint ever came out with it. Oh, since Sprint is so slow with updates I guess that didn't mean anything.
Thanks for all of yalls input. It has helped me in further pursuing a galaxy nexus
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Does it still have the crappy signal/gps issues? I had it earlier this year and it was frustrating, so just want to see how things have been since then with all the updates and such....
gps sucks. it takes a long time to connect. and i have this issue where the phone fails to connect to 3g when 4g disconnects. super annoying.
get the sgs3 or evo 4g lte.

You guys are all saying its works fine and like a million other people are complaining when I googled it lol. I'm just bored with my iphone 4 and my sister took my evo 3d, So I need something to get my android fix with lol.... no upgrade til december.
Having played with a galaxy s3 in the mall, I'd say go with that. Read that section in the forum to see what issues there are. After going from a 4s to the e4gt, I miss the 4s camera and the better quality sounding audio output. I've had this one for nine months now and the screen burn in is getting on my nerves. Going to pen tile displays was samsung's choice for screen lasting longer and less apt to burning. I didn't notice a screen door effect on the s3 either. Even though the cameras are virtually the same, I can see how having a faster focus helps in certain situations with the s3. Its low light is noisy though like lots have mentioned.

Its the way things goes on in consumer world. More noise is created by people who's stuff is not working. I work for verizon fios and we only hear 5 to 10% customers call in to complain but some might come to wrong conclusion that fios always breaks. Thats how it is. I have had no issues with my e4gt. Love everything about it.

I see where's he's coming from. No need to call him dumb.
Most companies (who offered service in D.C.) already had 4G in D.C. whether it was HSPA+ or LTE.
Let's hope they are!
His reply was scoffing, therefore he gets one back. He can not point blank say he thinks the ops an idiot all he wants, but you can tell he thinks it in his post so IMO he may as well have said it. And again, only an absolute idiot would think the op meant anything other than Washington.

Please don't say that's an excuse for not knowing dc... cause its definitely not. That would be like us hearing Ontario and not associate it with canada.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
First of all, thanks for calling me an "absolute idiot". If you read my post, I clearly spelled out "Washington, DC." That's not the problem. The problem, as I already explained, is "DC 4g" by itself is vague. I was hoping for something related to DC-HSPA+ (a different type of 4G that's not LTE, but comparable in speeds), not DC the state. If I had knew that the post would be about DC the state, I wouldn't have clicked it, because I don't live anywhere near, or care about, DC the state. Heck, if you wrote "Possible 4g testing in DC", then that would solve it, and without insulting anyone's intelligence (See? Now I know what DC means!). Even better, tag it with "[Sprint]" so that those of us on Verizon or GSM carriers can ignore it! Fewer trolls in your thread, more happiness all around. Win-win.
TL;DR: I didn't like the thread title. If I were mod, I would edit it, but I'm not. Instead, I asked politely and get called a moron. Good job.
You should probably find something more important to gripe about other than the few seconds you lost looking at this. Your time can't be that valuable considering how much time you have put into griping about it. The mods likely have more important things to concern themselves with than your individual confusion.
As for Sprint 4g in DC, it's been in some parts for about 2 months now. Started around 14th & U and spread from there. Some in MD and VA around DC. Check out Sensorly.com and S4GRU.com for more information.
