I can't use my kindle fire. I need help. - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Last week I bought a kindle fire rooted android 4.0.3 But my little brother deleted its system. Now when i push the power buttom a menu called TWRP always shows up. I checked, there is no restore in it. When i plug it to my computer, i think it recognise it but there no storage usb icon in my computer folder. So i cannot put the android in it. Guys please help me to make my computer recognise it.

In TWRP, select Mount > mount sdcard > mount to USB
That will mount your sdcard partition as an external drive so you can transfer files. If it doesn't mount, the solution can get a little more complicated.

[Q] Bricked Kindle Fire?

Hello all. I sincerely hope one of you can help me.
I was trying to install a ROM onto my Kindle Fire but now I believe I have bricked my device. I ran into the issue where the Kindle does not have enough battery life to boot after I had flashed TWRP so I waited until it charged and then tried flashing the ROM a few times. Now it says that the internal SD card is unmounted and it will not boot properly either (a la the minimal battery life issue). I have tried mounting the SD card through TWRP to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

What happens when you try to boot up your kindle?
It first shows the FFF boot screen then boots into TWRP even without me manually selecting boot into recovery. If I choose to boot into system in TWRP then it goes into a bootloop which I can get out of by booting into recovery and then shutting down in TWRP.
you didn't happen to create a nandroid backup before attempting to flash this new ROM, did you? Also, What happens when you plug your kindle into your computer?

Any suggestions guys? I'm at my wits end over here!
How much battery left does TWRP report?
While you're on TWRP, what's the output of the file partitions.txt? (type the following to obtain it)
adb shell parted /dev/block/mmcblk0 p > partitions.txt
Also, what versions of FFF and TWRP do you have installed?
just on the off chance, in the mount menu in twrp you should only have sdcard ticked

I keep trying to tick off SDcard in TWRP but it won't even let me. When I do, it says "E:failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid argument.)
However, I am able to access /sdcard (I believe) on the file manager.

I have FFF v.1.4a and TWRP v 2.1.1. TWRP says I have 95% battery left. I will look up a guide on how to use adb and try the command you suggested.

Its an extreme measure but To mount your sdcard:Boot into recovery and enter...adb shell (hit enter) echo /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file (hit enter)And if you have to, format your sdcard FAT32 block size 4096 Obviously, by formatting your sdcard, you will lose all the data that's on it. Very likely you won't have to format

Good luck

Also stuck at kindleFire screen.

I really, REALLY have tried going through the threads and tried to figure this out on my own but I'm just stuck. A while back I got stuck in the boot loop (I guess). It was after a few factory resets. It had been rooted. Now, I can get into twrp but once there I can't seem to find any of the files that I need to flash to get it going again. When I launch the KFU it says the device is "online" and device manager reads "Android Composite ADB Interface". I'm sorry if this isn't enough info but can someone give me a push in the right direction? :silly:
Still vague bro but hey you have twrp do you have fff? If you have those things select mount in twrp transfer ROM zip and a gapps zip to your sdcard but don't place them inside a folder... leave them in the open this is considered the root of your sdcard then select unmount go to install see if you can navigate to the files you put on the kindle if so select wipe, wipe factory reset, wipe cache wipe dalvik, wipe system, select install tap on the ROM zip flash it when done use the back button upper right... flash gapps then select reboot and system if prompted let it boot.. I suggest this ROM or a cm7 flavored variety.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778010
fff is the kindle logo with the blue (fire) lettering, right? v1.4a in the upper right corner. Let's me go into normal, recovery and reset boot mode? The only option that let's me make any progress is the recovery option and that loads me into twrp. The "mount" option in twrp gives me 4 choices, mount system, mount data, unmount cache, and unmount sdCard. Mount system and mount data are unchecked. And if I click the "mount usb storage" button it takes me to a screen that says "USB Storage Mounted -- Be sure to safely remove your device from your computer before unmounting!" and there's an "unmount" button underneath. That's all I'm seeing. I'm not trying to be vague. I just don't know what specifically is the relevant info to give. But thanks for helping out those who can't help themselves
Ok plug to your computer select mount make sure there are no checks in the boxes of data and system then hit the big button this will mount your sdcard transfer zips select unmount follow my instructions above...
hey man, it worked!:victory: But I'm sure you knew it would. So, is it a bad idea or is it even possible at this point to revert to the factory reset? You know, have it be totally stock? And is it just tricky or dangerous to do factory resets a few times? I like using just the stock kindle version. The kindle app is just a little funky. Or it was the last time I used it. But obviously I love the google suite. I hadn't made a back-up the last time because it was just as easy to download a few of the things at a time from the cloud. So, making a back up would be a good habit and help in a situation like this? Do you know of any good threads re: backups? And superuser is something I don't know anything about but how does it work and where should I learn more about that? Mega MEGA thanks again dude! :highfive:
Yeah if you want the best of both worlds go with rooted stock all the wipes I suggested after backing up first then flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916 the standard version not the altrom thats for dualboot your miles from that

just put this on your sdcard wipe every thing but your external storage and flash it http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/dow...gned-MD5-569fe6550cfcfba68dabc3d088324a46.zip your external storage is your sd card you dont wanna wipe that
its nothing but rooted stock with playstore and it wont wipe out your recovery and fff in the process
when installing the modaco custom rom, what boxes do I want to have checked? Zip file sig is checked by default and Force MD5 check on all zips is unchecked. Good?

(Status 0)
*Verifying filesystems...

do I need to just stay with the cm10 rom at this point? what other kind of fun stuff can I do to get this working:fingers-crossed:
I believe Thepooch told you earlier NOT to download the altrom. Check your download and try again.

Thanks soupmagnet yes the altrom version will fail everytime because it needs extra partitions to work which do not and very likely will not ever exist on your device.... Intructions well it helps if they are read I gave very clear ones and I definatly said not to use the altrom........

[Q] Please help kf stuck

Hi everyone, First let me say I am not tech savvy but I will try my best to explain whats wrong with my kindle fire. I just got a kf yesterday and today I broke it. I downloaded [Root][TWRP][FFF][CWM]Kindle Fire Utility v0.9.6 and it went fine but a little while after I booted to the screen twrp recovery screen and for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to wipe )cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, system, and external storage) I thought this would just free up space on my kf but when I tried to boot it after I did this it went to the boot screen with the word (Fire) in blue then the screen goes black and the same screen is ther with the word (Fire) in blue. After that the regular boot screen poops up with the word (Fire) in orange and this is where the kf gets stuck and wont do anything. When I try to rerun the kindle fire utility it cant find my device but it could find it before I wiped everything.
I don't know what to do. I can get back to the twrp recovery and that's it.There are things I can click on but I don't know what they mean and what to do. The things I can click on are (install, backup, restore, wipe, mount, settings, advanced, reboot).
I don't know if it matters but i am using windows vista
Thank yous for any help I will really appreciate it as I don't have really any money and saved to get this kf and was so happy to have it but now feel so dumb and very sad for breaking it and I am sorry if this question has been answered before or if I didn't explain it very well.
Connect your kindle to your pc, enter recovery, select mount there should be checks in the boxes of sdcard and cache, hit the big mount button hopefully you should see whats left of your sdcard contents on your computer screen. Drag and drop this rom zip into that window http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916 not that altrom that is for dual booting. When finished select unmount, unplug your Kindle wipe everything except your external storage/ sdcard, select install and tap on the rom zip you just transferred, swipe to flash. When it`s done select reboot system. Initial boot will take a bit be patient. Good luck.

Or am I screwed that I don't see my sdcard? Thank you for the help I really appreciate it.

No checks needed just wipe and flash drop the zip in the window don't place it in any of the folders just out in the open. Its very good that your sdcard will mount if it didn't you would have big problems I don't forsee you having any trouble getting it going. Flash the ROM in zip form do not extract it.

Recovery Bootloop Help!!

Flashed Philz touch CWM. Flashed BAM ROM. IT ran fine for a day and a half. Flashed the custom kernel, and immediately started getting recovery bootloops. Instead of the boot message saying "Secure Booting Error Causeevice Unlock, So boot Success." It said, " Secure Booting Error Cause:Certification Verify" then I rebooted, and it just went to recovery. I reflashed everything minus the custom kernel, and it gave me the regular message, but it won't actually boot. Someone PLEASE help!!!
Might have to go back to stock.. I guess I was pointing everyone to the wrong recovery when I said look in Madmack's CM thread for his TWRP.
Use this one: https://db.tt/bQeSgkEJ

Here are the solutions:
1. Download the aroma file manager here
2. Rename the file to aromafm.zip
3. Put the aromafm.zip in "clockworkmod/aromafm/" in any of the storage volumes
4. In Philz touch recovery, tap the Aroma File Manager (it will open the aroma file manager automatically if you put it into the correct folder as stated above)
5. Open the terminal in the aroma file manager
6. Type this:
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc bs=1 count=1088
7. Reboot system

no need for the computer to see the phone storage. you can put the aroma file manager either in your sdcard or usb storage, both should be readable when you use CWM to open aroma.

why should your computer need to recognize your phone?
you can take out your microsd card & insert it into the memory card reader & transfer the aroma file thru the reader by using your PC or put the aroma file manager thru your usb / pendrive & then use usb otg & CWM will automatically mount the usb storage.

Well, those actions did not delete the recovery you flashed so you should be able to enter it. If yes you can:
A) take the sdcard out and copy the data to it on your PC (home/work/friend/cafe?)
B) connect the phone to PC using USB cable:
- on PC start Command Prompt (cmd.exe)
- navigate to the directory where you have the new ROM stored
- enter "adb sideload ROM_filename"
- while at the same time in your recovery enter flashing menu and select Sideload
- you will be able to flash rom
C) enter "Download Mode" (power+home+vol_down) also called Odin Download Mode and use PC Odin to flash some recovery - search for Philz custom recovery, he has versions named something.md5 that are usable to Odin.
