Just curious whether anyone is using this app with their HTC One V and if it is worth buying the premium version. I never heard about it until I manually flashed cm9.

I agree, if you want to spend money on a good "root" app buy titanium backup. The pro version allows you to save your app backups to dropbox.....kinda mixes well with our free 25gb (or 23 for previous customers, better than a poke in the a** with a sharp stick!)

Rom Tool Box is no way an alternative to that crap, trust me...RomTool Box is waaaaaaaaaaaay better. Its the best root app that i managed to find, you have all in one app.Try the pro version if you can, although free one is just as good.
You can backup apps, send them to cloud, all bunch of different options in it...Rom manager nowdays is not even good for basic task as (flashing CWM) etc..
I have this app since they released it and i love it,my devices love it too,go try it out

Sorry if its a late pass, but the source kernels for the gingerbread update for a whole slew of new HTC phones, including the incredible 2 are available today from the HTC website.
This allows developers to get cracking on a root method for the 2.3 update right?

I'd be happy for an oc sense kernel as well. All the aosp roms are too buggy for me. But uv and better schedulers would make sense even more perfect and better battery life.

Forget WiFi tether. I just want to be able to use Titanium Backup so I can restore my apps data from my previous phone. Debloating would be nice, but this is my first HTC phone, so I have plenty of exploring around Sense to do in the meantime. Really missing Root Explorer as well
Have to wonder if this has anything to do with the "Revolutionary" news from Unrevoked & AlphaRev TBA.....

I feel the same way. The stock ICS seems to be a lot faster than the MCR's at the moment - not sure why.
The only reason to root is to get things such as Ad Free, Full Backups, Underclock CPU when screen off, Apply Paul's UI tweaks.
Obviously things will grow in the future. If you do it now, then you dont risk the chance of losing the ability to in the future (doubtful that will ever happen with a Nexus)

I will only root if a kernel with ridiculous battery life surfaces. Otherwise this may be the first Android phone I really see no reason rooting. Strange thought.

AdFree is pretty silly IMO. Blocking connections using the host file? Really? I guess the creators don't know what a firewall is or how to use iptables.
is it possible? i have done some research and the only app i can find that does this does not support our phones. Boot manager pro is the name of it and the other one i found only supports the overseas SG2. I would like to mess with other roms but just hate having to flash back and forth.
I wish I could be of some help because I am very interested in the same. I have also searched for a way. Grub4android?? lol. Now that would be great!!

You can nandroid ... then flash then restore ... won't take that long like 5 mins
just wondering when you nand backup does that backup all the apps, messages, contacts, login info , etc.... or only the current rom wiped?
yes it backs up everything.
When you restore a nandroid are you also restoring the kernel and rom?
Or does it just restore your apps/data?
For instance -- Can I nandroid, wipe, flash blazer rom and then restore and have all my data + apps on Blazer?
Sorry for the noob question!

I'm sure most of you have heard by now that kitkat has been released and it comes with support for older devices, such as the One V. I really wanted to talk about what we are all thinking: Will we get Android 4.4? I'm by no means a developer, im just curious as to how the community would go about bringing kitkat and would it actually be a possibility.
P.S. I do know that HTC wouldn't bother trying to push the update to us so that's pretty much off the table
I hope so. I've for a hov sitting in a drawer still perfectly good. Would be nice to have something to play with while I wait for development on the n5 to get started.

Because he's talking about GSM. And the CDMA people are mostly active in their separate developer forum not a lot of them seem to come into general so if we talk about something being possible or not at this moment it's almost certainly about GSM.

For what it's worth, Google claims 4.4 is optimized to run well on devices with 0.5 GB of RAM, unlike versions 4.0-4.3 which all but required 1 GB of RAM.
I'm not saying it's possible or that it would make the phone any more responsive, but it might be a more logical development target than 4.1, 4.2, or 4.3.

and i am obviously not familiar with any kind of lg product or kernel or anything
i have a rooted note on a costume rom ( if you wanna know about my experience)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Its pretty easy to root the thing. Here is what i would do:
Root
Install twrp 2.7 recovery
make a backup so you have it exactly like it came out of the box other than root.
Then you have about 3 choices for roms
Mahdi-Rom 2.5 4.4
LRS G Pad][v1.2.0 4.2.2 +BOB kernel
CYANOGENMOD 11 LINARO/SABERMOD 4.4
Ive used all 3 and settled on LINARO/SABERMOD. It seemed the easiest to setup, didnt have a huge amount of stuff installed (i cant use/stand pie controls) and it was easy to setup for tap on/off.
what is the point in changing the rom?i mean the installed one has a problem?
other than that what apps do you suggest,or maybe a launcher!

No need for a custom rom, the stock one is fine. I would root it and maybe install a custom recovery, but that's completely optional, plus adding a custom recovery has the disadvantage that it complicates things when you want to do an OTA update.
Some people prefer an alternate launcher, e.g. Nova.
But really, you don't need to do anything but add some apps.

Hello..
First let me say, any standard stylus will do just fine.. I would pick one that is your Girlfriends Favorite Color.. :good:
Personally.. If I were in your position knowing what I know about "Stock ROM's" vs "What's Available" to give her tablet *A Touch*..
The only Custom ROM I would install for her is the Mahdi-ROM.. It's 100% Stable ( The Most Important Thing ) and it's very Fluid and Fast.
Other than that, I would leave it completely stock since the Official 4.4.2 KitKat Update will most likely arrive in the next 60 days.
