Samsung Apps: NAVFone

NOTE: Only Singapore Map is available, for the time being.
I just checked my Samsung Apps, there's a new app called NAVFone.
After installation & running for the first time, it'll download the maps & other data (59Mb). I think it's only available for Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines...
..Well it is not Google Maps but you can use it offline so +1 to that
EDIT: Attached the apk file, hope it'll work for everyone.
Double EDIT: Attached the downloaded data files (Singapore MAP only), just extract & place it on /sdcard/navfone
NavFone 2.0.271 update Oct-06-2010!

I am from Malaysia and on 2.1. But I am unable to see it. :-(.

Didn't show up on my samsung apps (eclair JG4 australia). I'm guessing it's location specific then as you say Wouldn't mind some free (and legit) nav software lol.
Any chance you guys who have it upload the apk file somewhere? Thanks.
not available in Indonesia I think, can't find it.
Still preferred ndrive. UnInstalled
Thanks. I accidentally deleted my icon and could not redownload from Samsung Apps. You did me a favour.
This app doesn't reappear in the samsung app store after uninstallation. Using the attached apk always fc during data downloading.
I'm using Singtel i9000 but couldn't see the app. Good post.
I think you're supposed to use Kies to get it downloaded. Otherwise it can be found at their samsung store (not the app) the website itself, samsungapps.com/
I'll try to upload the downloaded files later when I get home.
UPDATE: just attached the downloaded files.. (on my first post) only Singapore Map though...

did you try to install using the attached .apk? what is the error message?
Hi,
Thanks. I just downloaded from the link given by you. Does it requires Kies to paste the .apk file into my sd folder. I checked the navfone all files still inside my folder except the .apk file. Does it sove my problem to getting back the icon?
Tks
can you provide the maps for malaysia as well?

you can send the .apk via bluetooth or via USB mass storage or kies..
then browse the phone and install using a file manager like EStrongs File Explorer or ASTRO File Manager

[APP] Facebook 1.6.3

This version includes features such as Facebook chat, allows you to tag friends in statuses, and home screen in landscape.
Please read directions as I am not responsible for anything the happens to your A7
Requirements:
Uninstaller for Root(Found in Market)
Root Explorer(Found in Market) or a Alternate File Explore App
Facebook 1.6.3 (Found here: www.apktop.com/facebook-for-android-1-6-3.html )
Open Uninstaller for Root, scroll down to the Facebook App and then click backup App, after click Uninstall
Next open Root Explore and navigate to /sdcard, once in /sdcard navigate to download folder will you will find and copy the file: com.facebook.katana.apk
Once copied you will need to paste apk file in /system/app (may need to toggle MOUNT R/O), after apk has been pasted, click on apk to install and you are all finished
facebook should be installable as a normal application. while the root related instructions are necessary for removal, i would just suggest tapping on the new facebook apk in the file manager to install ( w unknown sources enabled in settings/apps).
your facebook will be updatable via market after install that way, w out need for system app removal in the future.

Thanks,I just did it your way but the only thing i don't understand is how is it updatable if it doesn't appear in "My Apps" in the market?
mmm, manually installed apps might not show up in the old patched market, but i think they do in the new market (havent patched or ported that for a7 yet). i know i see manually added apps on my x10.
if you were to look up the facebook app in market, you may see it listed as updatable still, tho it may not show in your downloaded apps.
if youre not seeing facebook or the other apps youre posting in market at all (search), then youre not using my patched market.

There's other Google service (base files) need to be installed instead of only the Play Store or Gmail apk files for it to work. And the base file cannot be installed by normal way but .zip files through a custom recovery. You can get the base+App store from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ps-light-edition-google-apps-android-t2548351
After that you can just get the Gmail app from the Play store.

Do you know what can I do in order to solve this issue ?
I suppose that this apk has native library compiled for ARM architecture. I not sure that the Fire TV is arm-based and then, there are probably conflicts.
If it is a free app,try getting a copy from 1mobile or aptoide,appchina,wandoujia,slideme,voga360,etc.
I had that message when trying to install Dolphin Browser (evozi'd) from the Play Store.
Then I tried getting the apk from 1mobile or another place and it installed.

Thanks, I already tried without success.
When I use adbFire, I do not get any message but it need a lot of time, and show a successful message.
But after that, I cannot found the application and it is not in the list of installed applications.

Question Best way to obtain IPK files for Playstore apps?

What is the best way for me to obtain the IPK files for Playstore apps not rooted? How does the answer to this question change if I root?
Thanks

Just to confirm these are the locations on the web you mean
APKMirror - Free APK Downloads - Free and safe Android APK downloads
Free and safe Android APK downloads
www.apkmirror.com
Download APK free online downloader | APKPure.com
Download apk for Android with APKPure APK downloader. NoAds, Faster apk downloads and apk file update speed. Best of all, it's free
apkpure.com
Are both of these going to give me the current version of any app as seen on the PlayStore as a clean safe copy from Google Servers?
What do I do if I want the APK of one of my paid apps?
Just to be clear my intent here is NOT about piracy, but to keep archival copies of my legitimate apps. However, if I need to go to a pirate source to get an APK file I purchased, I would consider this a second choice if there is no want to get my hands on a clean copy of my APK file.
Also, would rooting open any additional options related to obtaining APKs of my legit paid apps?

why don't you just flash nickgapps , open gapps or mindthegapps?
In any case, exploring nickgapps, you can find the PlayStore.zip insidie, it contains "___etc___permissions" and "___priv-app___Phonesky" folders
if you have root copy the content relatively to "/system/etc/permissions" and "/system/priv-app/Phonesky" folder
otherwise you can try to.inatall the apk as a common user app (manually grant all required permissions)

Once I do this, I assume I then download my apps from the modified or alternative Google Play app. Where does nickgapps (etc) put the IPK files in my phone, so that I can collect them?

you don't have to
if you change rom, and you want to re-install gapps just flash them again (if necessary)
if you want to backup locally installed apps, you can use a backup tool (but not all back-up install proprtly from local, some apps needs to be installed via playstore)
I tried to download the apk for "Text Free: Call & Texting App" on both APKPure and APKMirror and neither offer this free app. I would like to save my APK file somehow, but it seems like it is available only on Google Play. Is there some way I can capture the APKs downloaded by Google Play so that I can retain them? If I must root to accomplish this, I will root. (I currently have global stock OOS firmware.)

Installed apps are under /data partition, /apps folder
navigating to that folder with file.manager should allow you to copy them

If you are talking about just extracting the apk from an installed app, did you try Apk Extractor from Play Store?

I used Cx File Explorer to back up some apps on my One Plus 9 Pro. Then I rooted and got Root Explorer to rummage in /data/apps.
I found that when apps are download from Google Play that some apps download two or more apks. Every app downloads a "base.apk" file. Some apps download "split_config.arm64_v8a.apk" and "split_config.xxhdpi.apk". If I backup an app with Cx File Explorer, only the base apk is backed up, not the other essential apks to allow the app to work if installed from the backup. In particular, I noticed this with "Text Free" by Pinger, and several other apps.
I find it clunky to rummage in /data/apps because the folder names are gibberish and I have to hunt for an app's folder to find its pieces. Is there a better app backup utility that will get all the pieces of an app? (And since I am already rooted, I don't care if it requires root or not to work.)

I also tried ApkExtractor on Text Free and find that it also only extracts the Base Apk and not the "split_config" pieces.
Thanks
