I have a unlocked and rooted nexus with miui ROM. There is a blocked number that calls me literally everyday of the year. Every time I answer there is nothing said and its complete silence. Sometimes this happens more than once a day. You can understand the frustration. I know that there are call blocking apps out there but none seem to have the ability to block anonymous calls, just numbers you know. Verizon albeing the money grubbers that they are want to charge me $5 to do so lol. Any ideas?
Root call blocker blocks unknown numbers. Works great.

Besides opening in the wrong forum, I will give you the advise of: http://donotcall.gov
"DND Call Blocker" works well for me.
Fahrbots call master is the best I have found

Sounds like an automated dialer is calling. If you wait a few minutes, someone will eventually come on the line.
At least then you can find out what company is calling you.

So far this community has answered my one or two questions very well. I now have a text, Google voice, and insurance question.
First, I was wondering is there a free app that allows me to see text messages as popups on my pc as well as answer them from the pc? I know I read Google voice could but I also read problems with binding (and unbinding) with sprint numbers so I wanna know of other alternatives if they exist.
If I do use Google voice and link it to my number or there any real cons to this? Do the cons outweigh the pros?
Recently found that the charger port on my phone is damaged causing slow charge and loose connection. I was told I'd have to pay the deductible and get a new epic. I decide to try to wait 5 months for my upgrade, will sprint take this back as a trade-in with it damaged?
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

1. You can text from a PC using Zipwhip via Sprint. http://sprint.zipwhip.com
2. I like GV. No cons from my perspective. I like being able to text and listen to voice mails online. The spam filter also cut down on the occasional telemarketing calls.
3. Not sure. Never utilized the trade-in program. The trade-in amounts I've been quoted were pitiful. You'll get more cash by selling your old phones on eBay.

Hello,
My wife has an iPhone 4 on AT&T and I of course have an S3 on T-Mo. I also have another friend with an iPhone 4 on Verizon and I cannot for the life of me figure out why I cannot get texts from them. I can easily get texts from everyone else BUT them iPhone. Is there an issue with my phone? I've tried Googling the answer, and I'll I'm reading is responses like "That is Apple for you." but can I get a technical response or an idea of what I can do to remedy the situation?
Thanks all! :good:
GS3 dont play well with iphones. Everytime an iphone user sends me a MMS all i get is tiny thumbnail. seems the sms/mms issue has been discussed here but i havent had a real answer yet :/
I get pix from iPhone users daily with no problem.... I've gotten over a hundred MMS and over 6000 texts from people with iPhones over the last month or so... not sure what to tell you.
Tell them to get an android.. duh
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
First off, that's gonna be hard to pinpoint. Why? Because a text is a text unless the iPhone is doing some sort of encoding magic that the Galaxy S3 somehow rejects but that shouldn't be the case because if it was, it would be an android issue. And at the end of the day, texting between the Galaxy S3 and iPhone work just fine because I have friends with iPhones and I received their texts without any issues. So it has to be something to do with your specific phone.
Have you tried putting your SIM card to different phone and seeing if you get the texts then? And also have you tried someone else's SIM card in your phone/just going and getting a new SIM from T-Mobile?

Never heard of that op. My brother and sister both have iPhones and I get MMS/SMS from both.

Hey all, thanks for the pointers. I'll check my SIM today. I do have a backup micro SIM actually!
If you had an IPhone as well before you could be linked to Apple ID. If that's the case when iPhone sends you message it detects its linked to ID and your Galaxy will never get it. Hope that sends you in right direction to solve it.

This is a good point. I had my email linked to iMessage and someone with an iPhone texted my email address and instead of going to my email inbox it showed up on my iPad. Not sure how it works with your phone number though.

I actually DID have an iPhone 4 before switching back to the Android platform. Let me look into the Apple ID situation and I'll report back! Thanks! :good:
Well I fixed my phone. It WAS related to the Apple ID. Like I said, I had an iPhone before the S3 and when I had the iPhone on and left on Wi-Fi people's iMessage was pointing their texts to that phone. I wiped the phone (as I'm about to sell it) and that fixed the problem.
Thanks again for the insight people.

samsung usually treats their customer like crap by not giving out updates when theyre suppose to be given out..
that was the case for sgh t989, that is the case for us, on sgh t889
It's tmobile not samsung, seems like people have to say this everyday
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
I really, really think its gots nothing to do with Samsung, and everything with TMo. The international S3, Note 2 (note 1?), the Verizon note 2, the sprint note 2 and now the S2 have all got it, or about to get it.
TMobile? Not a word.
Yes it is tmobile its not samsung. I just find it amazing that we cant get an update period and all these old phones are getting it...I mean its just backwards. I understand that it takes time for tmobile to port over updates and what not...but this is stupid.
I mean the note 2 is where multiview CAME from and we dont have it ON OUR NOTE 2'S
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
This is getting completely stupid and I'm generally a patient person. I'd still be patient but for the fact that the other carriers have released multiple OTA's while T-Mo can't manage to pump even one out. Hell, it would be cool it they even leaked it so we could unofficially beta if we so desired.
I contacted T-Mo's support on Twitter, and they responded with something like "we are working closely with Samsung, etc and stay tuned."
I reminded them it's not Samsung that's the delay - it's T-Mobile. They conveniently didn't respond.
I'm new to T-Mo and don't like the way things are going so far. WTF is their delay??

Cospiracy theory ? Watch this video bro. Iq agent queried https which is supposed to be encrypted and was successful and also reported a text the guy sent in plain text on the report which T-mobile said they don't do . And *I* can't disable it because im not rooted. So it is a definite concern for me. Serious watch this . Dude runs a real time log cat and CarrierIQ runs code for every button pushed as well as each number dialed on the dial pad . This is even more than *I* thought it did. Scary stuff.

They can actually cut this back on when you clearly unchecked it. Don't know if it was because of reboot or they saw it when I was arguing about my bill.

1) you should be scared if you are doing something that you aren't supposed to be doing
2) They really can't use any personal information (that's against their privacy policy and if someone did find out, they'd get the **** sued out of them, especially in this litigation-happy country).
3) You can turn it off... which, if you did a simple search on these forums has been posted at least 5 times by now (I've personally seen at least 3 posts about it)
4) The video you posted is by the original "discoverer" of CarrierIQ. The software itself is programmable, meaning we don't know exactly what T-Mobile is collecting, many phone simply have it to note mundane things like signal strength, etc. Also, here's an article on the guy who blew the whistle:
http://www.dailytech.com/Carrier+IQ...hart+Works+for+Tracking+Firm/article23511.htm
As many have known for a while now (it's been almost a year, and no one has died). It's hype and poor implementation by HTC (which has also been discussed on previous "OMG CARRIERIQ" threads).
I'm just tired of the sensationalism that surrounds CarrierIQ.

Hmm, interesting, mine's still checked off, since the day I bought the phone (10/29). I don't think T-Mobile has the power to be able to re-toggle a switch that a user explicitly un-toggled... not to mention this is one phone that has it, imagine having to code that up for all phones and adding it to their system, etc. Even if they did, the information they collect really has nothing to do with you and you should have no worries unless you're doing something "illegal" like tethering your laptop without a hotspot plan, although that's probably caught by their backend servers sniffing your packets using pattern recognition software which is the same software that Google uses to direct ads to you on gmail based on your e-mail contents, but I don't hear many people complaining about that... maybe because it's "free"... (Go here to see the real "price" of Google: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb, it's google's ad preference manager which tells you who Google things you are and what you're interested in, so they can sell that info to advertisers)
Ok my issue with lack of updates is lack of communication. T-Mobile clearly has an agenda for when it plans to release the update. Perhaps one big update turning on LTE, 4.2, etc some have speculated, but to reply something so generic is what's annoying. Finally people this is America's, hell this is planet earth. Do you REALLY think carrier iq is preventing companies and government from seeing or doing anything that they choose? Please don't be so comfortable in your false safety nets.......Lol at removing and disabling carrier iq lol trust if they need to know something, record audio, take pictures from your phone without your knowledge it's been done

I think they are talking about the internatinal s2 and s3 in that article. From what I heard and I could be wrong the international note 2 already has the multiwindow thats how we got it ported over. Everything over here in the good old U.S. of A ( land of the free home of the brave) bulcrap always comes way after the rest of the world. If google went with samsung for there newestr nexus device I would have went that way but I just cant do lg. My first android phoine was the g2x and I lucked out and got one of the good ones but with all the problems and lack of support by LG and tmo left a bad tast in my mouth. BUt I really with samsung would make a AOSP note 2 like the g2x but it will never happen.
The flip side of this is we have some real kick ass devs in the tmo fourm alone and I am sure that the rest of the carriers have them too a phone like this is bound to attact the best of the best. If you look in the dev only sub fourm we have some eleite recongnized devs working together now. So with that and the fact that all the different varents are so close in similarity we will have some real good stuff. Dont worry about what tmo and samsung does we will do what we always do which is do it ourselves. Or i should say the devs will do it themselves people like me will support them in any way possible.
\peace
I spoke to a representative from Samsung today, and a rep from Korea. They said we should be getting the multi window update very very soon. Basically waiting for tmobile to shoot out the OTA.
Check your phones over the next week or so, because it should start coming out.

Wondering if anyone has dealt with having to return a Nexus 7 2013 that has problems? I got my new Nexus 7 LTE 32g - JLS36C on Tuesday Sept.17 and charged it up then went through set-up. It immediately updated from something to JLS36C as I set up the wifi. Walked out of the room and wifi went away. After extensive testing found that if I get more than 10 feet away it will not stay conneced on 2.4ghz and will stay on 5ghz up to 15 feet from my router. So I called, followed their script of re-setting the unit and going through setup again. At that time was told I would have a new Nexus 7 sent out. Then got an email that said it could take 2 days for a response from a "Specialist". Two days later the same person wanted to know what router I had, so I sent that back and asked where the shipper was on the replacement. By email she said a specialist had to review my case. WTF, I have given them detail test measurements with 2 other devices, one being my Nexus 4. It is now 5 days and nothing. So what do I have to do? Has anyone had this problem?
Call them and ask to talk to a floor supervisor. Be very persistent no matter what they say. They don't actually work for Google they work for a third party company. So the initial people who answer the call will only do as their manual tells them too. Tell them also that u tried on someone's else's WiFi and still get the same result. But u want a floor supervisor cause they can actually make a judgment call.

Yea buying directly from Google is a pain. But I always end up doing it because they will replace your device for up to a year no matter what. It can be BS dealing with them but if I'm 10 months down the road and my screen stops working I can get a replacement. Compared to let's say Walmart I have 30 days and then I have to deal with asus directly for any issues. But I feel your pain bro trust me. Also like if the n7 gets some hardware fix a few months from now I can call Google and tell them my n7 is Rebooting like crazy and get the newer hardware which is always a positive.

First thing you need to know is that I've never owned an Apple device. I've been having this issue ever since Apple upgraded to iOS 6 & 7. My girlfriend and some of my friends are iPhone users, and sometimes they send me messages but I receive them late or even never receive them at all. Sometimes I get their text that got mixed with a text that they sent sometime before (even from convos that are days or weeks old) in the SAME message (WTF?). I event get spammed by the same message 5+ times, example http://i.imgur.com/ij8GtPu.jpg which is annoying and ridiculous!
Ive searched the web and did not find a single solution, only thousands of people complaining with no fix. The only solution to this is to use another chat app with the other person, which is really hard to convince someone to do that. Especially Apple fanboys and fangirls like my GF. I suggested Whatsapp or Hangouts and even suggested her to disable iMessage (there's a feature that lets you disable the iMessage feature so the iMessage app only sends SMS to the users) which my GF denied also. -_-
TLDR: I don't get texts and people wait for me to respond and think that I'm ignoring them or I get spammed. How to fix pls?
Edit #1: I've never been an Apple user so "disconnecting" my number from iMessage by sending a "STOP" text to 48369 probably wont help. BUT I did try it today and we'll see if that works lol...
Edit #2: Oh the irony... http://i.imgur.com/7gmUN54.png
Edit #3: My phone is stock. Never did any modding.
IMO, not much can be done on Android side but I remember reading a great article about this issue.
