Hi,
I flashed CM9 following the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576874, namely:
Wiped data.
Wiped cache.
Wiped Dalvik cache.
Flashed cm-9-20120813-EXPERIMENTAL-ancora-alpha7.zip.
Flash gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip.
Rebooted phone.
However, I only found google Play + google Talk installed.
Did anybody experience my same problem?
Do I have to flash Gapps again?
Do I maybe have to also run "Fix permissions" after flashing Gapps?
Or can I just install all the Gapps by myself?
Moreover, I did not format /sdcard (internal) when flashing, so I have lots of data/folders of my previous stock rom apps in there.
Can I format my /sdcard (internal) now or will it mess up with my new apps?
Thank you very much.

gapps = Google Play Store
GAPPS means Google apps, and the most important thing in it is Google Play Store, which can let you install any other apps you want using it.

I agree.
I just thought there were also gmaps and gmail (at least) also...
So in this case Gapps contained *only* google play, is it correct?
Thanks.
Yes the Play Store and Google Talk, you'll have to download the rest
Google Maps ???

I've flashed gapps before without a problem on my Hero, but when I flash them on the Evo, it doesn't give the option to login to my google account. When the phone first boots up, I get the account login screen, but on google accounts it says, "google_login". When I click it, nothing happens. It gives me the option to skip, but I can't sign in to my google account. I don't know if its the version of gapps I'm using. I'm flashing gapps-20110112.zip

What ROM are you using, that will make a difference.
I keep switching between them, I'm realizing that you don't have to flash gapps for every single rom. Right?
It might be the ROM, but I'd try downloading a different zip. Theres a lot. Might just be the one you downloaded.
If I'm not mistaken there are different gapps for GB and Froyo. Make sure you've downloaded the appropriate version and you've wiped cache and dalvik cache before flashing.

That's correct. And you should always flash the newest gapps for the respective version when you flash the rom, and flash gapps after the rom. If you're updating the rom like CM7 #14 > #17, you don't have to re-flash gapps.
I don't really know if it's working or not or what is my problem exactly.
I installed CM10, but then I had to reinstall it, I did a wipe cache/factory reset and I wiped the dalvik cache, then flashed the CM10 zip.
When my phone booted I already had Play Store, but I was supposed to install it, and I also had ~1GB internal memory, but I didn't install Data2SD or any script yet (I installed it when I first installed CM10, but isn't it supposed to "disappear" after factor reset?).
I know I should be happy because I don't have to be bothered with installing gapps or Data2SD, it's just weird.
It's weird because you need to wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvick cache, wipe boot, wipe system and i recommend to use superwipetool.

Gapps (Play store) is installed in system partition. Factory restore just wipes the data of additional system apps not the applications. Hence no matter how many times you do a factory reset. It'll stay there. Its not a bug.
And what about the internal memory thing? Is it because of the same reason?

All the apps which are installed in internal memory and sd card should be wiped by now.
Sorry for the update, but i don't get it.
My girlfriend have a Galaxy S with pics, mp3 and everything, custom folder etc... I installed CM10, and before in the recovery mode, i did a wipe data, Dalvik cache, Reset factory several times. Once i installed CM10, i can find exactly the same folder, mp3, pictures etc...
I don't get it.

The internal sdcard of galaxy s is not wiped by wiping data/factory reset. Its on a separate partition.
Hi there, I installed CM10 (Android 4.1.2) on my HTC Wildfire S, the installation went fine, yes I wiped everything except SD Card before installing CM10 and after installing CM10 I downloaded Gapps from the Goomanager app already pre-installed in CM10.
However after installing and rebooting, CM10 showed ''Android is updating'' and it updated the 10 apps and finished the boot, but after I went to the apps menu there was no Play Store nor other Google Apps.
I reinstalled CM10 and Gapps, I installed the most recent version of gapps but nothing appears on the apps menu.
Please help!
BUMP, sorry guys but I've been trying to install gapps on the damn CM10 for 4 hours already and still nothing.
I've wiped the dalvik cache, cache, data, system and installed CM10, booted CM10 then rebooted and installed gapps, it shows up saying ''Android is updating'' but afterwards no Play Store, this is drivin me nuts.
Use the gapps provided in the Rom thread.

Thanks for replying, I downloaded the gapps package from goomanager and from the computer, both were the same packages but both failed, they installed successfully but no Google Play Store, funny thing is if I install Google Play Store manually through an apk file, it opens fine but then crashes.
Strange.
Push the apk to /system/apps, and don't forget to fix permissions.
Google search crashes, none of my Google widgets work, speech to text crashes too.
I installed a zip of apps in CWM, but they don't seem to be working right. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
make sure its the latest gapps release. wipe cache, wipe dalvik and flash gapps again. see if this clears up your issue

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
Do you have a link for the latest release? I thought I was using it, but now I don't trust where I'm getting it from.
what release/android version is your rom and what is your gapps release? latest gapps is 20130301.
when did this problem start?

I'm running the latest release of Cyanogenmod. I just flashed it, and the issue started from my first install of gapps.
Nope. Still happening. Tried the cache/dalvik delete and re-install. Same thing. Google search just crashes. All the same errors.
Try using the gapps from the op of this thread.

Kind of worse now lol. The email widget still won't show anything. Just "view more conversations". Same as before. But Google search won't open and just prompts "App not installed". Speech to voice simply doesn't work. No update notifications in the play store or anywhere.
And your doing a factory reset between each flash?

Negative. Is that my problem? I'm just wiping my cache.
Yeah, factory reset. Then wipe cache. Reflash the whole Rom and use the gapps I linked you to. Should be good after that

Got it. Working perfectly now. Thanks so much for all your help. It's very much appreciated. :good:
gapps will work.... try this one...
hello guys...
after the installation of cm11 and gapps, gapps will frequently stopped...
and
will get a pop message like "stopped working"...
for this one...
first install cm11 and gapps that mentioned in this web..
wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
in this web there are two files...
small and big....
download small one file and install...
you will not face again that pop message...
for some people enable
or
disable and enable button of browser or internet app..
for some people "reset app preference" in all apps..
thank you....
I am having issues with Gmail, Contacts and Calendar, so I'd like to reinstall Gapps from scratch, but would like to otherwise leave the phone intact.
I want to the stock package, so I downloaded this: open_gapps-arm64-7.1-stock-20180306.zip
So is it just a question of wiping cache, dalvik cache and system? the flashing the above?
I had quite a hard time get LoS on the device, so I don't want to start from ground zero again.

Re installation will only bring you the current status again.
First delete the app data and your Google account from phone.

I deleted my account, rebooted into recovery. Wiped cache, system and Dalvik. When I installed: open_gapps-arm64-7.1-stock-20180306 it told me that: gapps pkg is for 7.1.x download the correct version lineage and was implying that I need something for 6.z.
Is there any downside to installing the older version as a means of getting me back to new?
6.1 gapps are not compatible with 7.0 ROM
