I am having issues with Gmail, Contacts and Calendar, so I'd like to reinstall Gapps from scratch, but would like to otherwise leave the phone intact.
I want to the stock package, so I downloaded this: open_gapps-arm64-7.1-stock-20180306.zip
So is it just a question of wiping cache, dalvik cache and system? the flashing the above?
I had quite a hard time get LoS on the device, so I don't want to start from ground zero again.

Re installation will only bring you the current status again.
First delete the app data and your Google account from phone.

I deleted my account, rebooted into recovery. Wiped cache, system and Dalvik. When I installed: open_gapps-arm64-7.1-stock-20180306 it told me that: gapps pkg is for 7.1.x download the correct version lineage and was implying that I need something for 6.z.
Is there any downside to installing the older version as a means of getting me back to new?
6.1 gapps are not compatible with 7.0 ROM

Try a gapps pkg for arm, instead of arm64

so i loaded cm9 ics on my fire and everything worked great. then i flashed the gapps zip and when i turn on the fire the prompt screen comes on that comes on everytime you buy a new device, the one where you are prompted to touch the android and then you will enter your info and stuff. well, everytime i touch the android, it says "unfortunately the setup wizard has stopped" with a force close button. any ideas how to get gapps on?
May not have wiped everything properly, or flashed a corrupt gapps zip.
Either way, you can get around the issue from TWRP by deleting the file /system/app/SetupWizard.apk using the built-in file manager or ADB.

Agreed, first try to wipe again. Factory reset (2x) for good measure, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik, Flash ROM, flash Gapps, boot. May even wipe cache/dalvik again after flashing. Not usually needed, but sometimes KF can get stubborn.

Question...I am too having this issue. Only difference is something happened to my USB and my computer can't install the device files anymore so I'm flashing the ROMs thru ROM manager now since I can't connect my phone to the computer. I know I'm using the right gapps but if I delete the apk for the setup wizard how will i be able to sign into my google account?
Phone: Samsung-SGH-I747
Carrier: AT&T
Andriod Version: 4.1.2
CM: 10-20121206-NIGHTLY-d2att
CWM: recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-d2att
I am unable to find a compatible Gapps that works with this ROM, anytime I flash Gapps I get the
Unfortunately Android Keyboard (AOSP) Stopped
As well as "Connection Error "Retry" when trying to access Google Play.
I've tried wiping the cache within the AOSP Keyboard settings as well, but this seems to be a Gapps error as the Play store stops working.
I have tried gapps-jb-20121011-signed and gapps-jb-20121130-signed.
This is the method of install I have been doing:
1) Wipe data/factory reset
2) Wipe Cache Partition
3) Advanced -->Wipe Davlik Cache
4) Install 10-20121206-NIGHTLY-d2att
5) Install gapps-jb-20121011-signed
6) Reboot
Am I doing this right? Should I wipe cache/partition/davlik cache before gapps install? Whats going on here?
Is there a proper flashing process to make these work? Or is there is comparable stable ROM that has Gapps included and works (JB ONLY)?
I re-rooted my phone and did a clean install with I747UCDLK3_I747ATTDLK3_ATT then root66_ATT_I747UCDLK3 then ROManger CWM download to get where I'm at.
My whole reason to rooting was for Google Now, I've always liked CM's work but am willing to try something else if there are any other suggestions??
Please help, I feel like I've spent WAY too much time on something that seems so simple.
You're doing this right. I don't know what could be wrong.
As a last measure, try format instead of wipe. Format boot, system, data and cache, and flash CM and gapps 20121011 again.
Good luck!

And that did the trick.
Thanks
Okay all the sudden on CFX 4.2.2 I am having weird issues, I converted google search to a user app, then back to a system app, and it would constantly crash, I now try and format the phone ie: wipe date/cache/dalvik and reboot into the ROM, I no longer get a prompt about a gmail account or anything like that and the ROM boots right up with no gmail notifications or anything, and google search still isn't working, why can I not format my phone lol?
I even tried re-flashing the ROM after a full wipe/format and it still is all beyond messed up?
WTH, even after a fresh ROM install with no flash over with GAPPS, it's still on the device like it was never formatted -.- im using CWM 6.0.1.5, i've never had issues with this recovery or anything, now all the sudden it's like GAPPS will not delete from the ROM.
Okay, a different attempt at flashing a completely different ROM then reflashing CFX, reflashing a different ROM got rid of GAPPS, so now im in the process of reflashing CFX to see if that fixed my problem, if it did idk why wiping the ROM itself wouldnt get rid of GAPPS.
Okay that fixed it =S.
I take that back, nope i guess im just screwed lol.
Okay i've come to the conclusion that something is just wrong with the ROM
Did you wipe the System partition before installing the new ROM? When you flash the GApps zip file in recovery, it writes those to System. Therefore, if you just wipe Data, they will still be there. Also, always do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik) when switching to a different ROM.
Package installer crashes and i cant install .apk files, i tried other installers, but they crash too. Also, when I want to give location permission to app, it crashes saying package installer crashed. What could be the cause? (i know i can install apps through adb, but i dont always have access to computer)
You've started 3 threads now, all possibly related. Starting multiple threads is not a good idea, as it's only going to confuse you and those trying to help you. The info in this thread is very incomplete. I only know this from helping you on another thread. Helped by the fact that traffic is low on this device forum, otherwise I probably wouldn't connect the dots on this. So consider yourself lucky, and please post smarter moving forward.
I know you previously flashed the wrong boot.img. Then re-flashed the ROM. When you re-flashed the ROM, did you dirty flash? If so, sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. Having random problems after a dirty flash, is usually an indicator that you need to go back and do a clean flash. Back up your personal data by method of your choice. Then clean flash (default wipe in TWRP - data, cache, Dalvik), then flash ROM again, and flash gapps if needed for the ROM.

i did backup, then i wiped data, system, cache, dalvik, and after flashing ROM its still happening. It must be something with the Package Installer. Is there any way i can install Package Installer on my own, because what i found was only some external program which still used Package Installer.

Ah yes, that pesky gapps. Very easy to forget!
Lineage 16 on the M8, is it a smooth experience?
Cheers
Hello,
I would like to install Lineage on my OnePlus5T, as the OxygenOS system does not seem to have an option for the Albanian language. Lineage does.
However, since Wednesday July 28, I have been trying and failing. Here are the steps:
1. Unlock bootloader (worked perfectly.)
2. Flash TWRP (No issue there either.)
3. Wipe Data, System, Dalvik, Cache (All okay so far...)
4. Flash Lineage and Gapps (both worked fine). I'm flashing lineage 18, with the pico gapps package for android 11.
5. Wipe dalvik and cache again, then reboot. But I got stuck on the spinning wheel. I had backed up all the data with TWRP, but apparently restoring it won't put me backk on OxygenOS. The backup must've been corrupted when copying to a computer.
I also erased system and vendor with fastboot, which wiped all else from the phone and then I tried again, still no luck.
I have tried flashing OxygenOS again, and that now gives me "zip trebble compatibility error, invalid zip file format".
But all partitions were empty, before flashing the system. What have I done wrong? Or what should/can I try to get the system installed?
Many thanks for any help... Sorry for the long message.
Hmm. Did you try without flashing GAPPS? How would your phone behave with system being flashed only?

I feel that could work. However, just before I do, I should ask, does Lineage have the core google apps already installed? Google play, etc? If so, I'll give that a try at my earliest convenience.
Many thanks for the help.
Lineage doesn't have anything related to Google. It's totally debloated.
Give flashing without GAPPS a try and you will be able to identify the problem.

If this works, how would I be able to get the google apps installed? Would I need to try a different gapps package, maybe?
Many thanks again, and sorry for all the questions.
First see if it works at all after flashing system and we will see after it.

It's always worth an attempt to boot after flashing system only. If your phone boots you should reboot to recovery and flash your Gapps. Hopefully your phone wool boot again then.

Thank you so much, I'm going to give that a try when I can.
Hello,
The system booted without gapps, but didn't boot with it. So I downloaded the nano package, which was the only other available one for android 11, and it now works flawlessly.
Many thanks for all the help!
