Can you completely hide an app's notification icon in the status bar? The app (Power Widget) gives me an option to make the icon transparent but all other notification icons are pushed one to the right because the icon is just transparent not removed. Is there anything I could do?
If you have jelly bean you can disable certain apps from allowing notification s

You can do that in the app info tab. There's a check box for notifications

No you cannot. Notification icon must be there in order for notification to be there. I was hoping if I could hide it too...

Yea. Unfortunately hiding the notification in App Settings not only hides the notification icon but also the notification itself (which I need).

On US s3's there's no status icon for NFC, Canadian models do. There was another thread with someone else who had the same problem.

This can be edited in the feature.xml file (located in "/system/csc/feature.xml") under the NFC the Statusbaricontype should be changed from ATT to none.
When I log into a messaging thing such as Skype there is a logo of the Skype thing in the status bar. I was wondering if there is a way to make this not appear while I'm in that app. This is not a big deal but is annoying at times. By the way I'm on a nexus 4 using jelly bean 4.2.1

that will hide it all the time, not what the OP asked.
as to an answer, there is none that will temporarily hide icons based on focus. its largely up to the app itself to do this(for example jet audio or Google music)
Samsung, I get it. There are more toggles to the right. How do I stop it from doing this every time I pull down?
I installed a custom toggle bar. No scrolling!

The left icon is the one for AOKP statistics, isn't it? If yes you just have to activate or disable this option.

When you scroll the status bar you should have the name of the related app or a message. Just tap on it and you should be redirected to the app.
When I open apps such as chrome, gmail and or any non system app the status bar is black. Why isn't it clear? I'm rooted running xposed, tweak box and nova launcher. The status bar is clear on the home screen and lock screen, and it matches the color of the LG apps but its black on every other app
Here are done screen shots:

Bugger, that was my main reason for returning the Xperia Z2 - with the navigation and notification bars, it was the same size as my S3 on expanded desktop.
Just glad the G3 has such a big screen and the nav bars can be hidden. Future ROMs should address this.
I didn't really notice it until the other day, but now that I did it's annoying.

I tried that but it wasn't working, how do you have it set up?

I don't see the problem. If the solid bar was blocking content then yeah annoying but its not so a transparent nav bar would either show nothing at all or the back, home and recent buttons would block content. Now that would be truly annoying in my mind.
