As we all know Google Wallet is currently not available in the UK. My question is does anyone know of any other alternative app which is compatible with the One X for making contactless payments?
NFC payment terminals have been around for a while now in shops and I have scoured the PlayStore but came up with nothing.

Google wallet was supposed to be up and running already but during testing they found a loophole where crooked ppl with knowledge of rooted phones could access your account if they found your lost phone. It obviously a far fetched scenario, however still a possible one and I'm glad google hasn't enabled wallet yet until they fix this flaw. Other then that, its good to go.

I have a Verizon N2 and had to do the hack to get it to work. My friend was excited to get his Sprint N2 the other day. I was showing him how to use it, pulled it down from the Playstore. Then it says it's not supported on his device. What gives? I thought ATT and VZW users were not allowed but Sprint was?

So stupid....I would love to know why this app is limited.
Thank you!
Seems sprint changed their mind on supporting it to start their own nfc payment option. At least that's what the rumors look like. Whatever the case its annoying! I wish Google would put their foot down and not let carriers remove this...

That makes no sense to me. Who cares if there were 50 to choose from. Seems like more options for people to go with. I hate that carriers have any say as to what I do with my device after I buy it!!! Verizon pulled that last week with bootloaders.

It makes perfect sense. Sprint was the only carrier who was allowing it in the past. The other three carriers opted out for their own service so I don't see why Sprint wouldn't follow in the same footsteps.

The issue is on google's side...not Sprint's. Until google makes it compatible we will have to use the work around.
I have seen nothing internally to backup info that Sprint would be working on a payment system....not that I could comment on that sort of info anyway

I've read something about it. Not sure if it was an article or someone elses post from xda. However I don't understand why all previous phones had support from the start like. GS3, EVO LTE, LG VIPER, and a few others. Now all the latest ones don't. The Optimus G is also not supported. I smell something cooking on sprints end. Idk hopefully I'm proven wrong.

The evo lte was not supported from the start. We had to do essentially the same hack for several months.
It's interesting and heartening to hear that it's not Sprint doing the blocking, if true. Heartening because Sprint has an obvious potential motive, the same one as every other carrier, and you can't fight that. But Google probably has no motive to artificially deny access to a new service it's trying to get off the ground. If Google is blocking it, the reason is probably technical and they are probably working on resolving it even if it doesn't look like it from here. I suppose it's ever so slightly possible they might want their Nexus devices to stand out as the only ones that work, so you get a nexus instead of a carrier branded phone, but that doesn't add up because right now practically no one even knows what google wallet is, and the user experience is LESS convenient than swiping a card even for those few people that have wallet working. It's not a selling point.

Just a notice, if you're on the MA5 leak, wallet works w/o any hacks of build.prop, etc. Be sure to thank user bp328i for noticing and posting the info.

Actually, the issue is on the carrier's side. Firstly, Sprint is releasing their own payment solution:
http://www.androidcentral.com/leaked-sprint-touch-wallet-slides-show-sprint-serious-about-building-their-own-nfc-wallet-app
Secondly, Google wallet is being rejected because it requires a hardware secure element. Verizon/ATT (ISIS) has proposed that a mobile wallet should not require this "secure element." In fact, they even complained to the FCC about Google Wallet requiring this and that Google Wallet would be fine if it did not. However, ISIS also requires a secure element. In fact, ISIS is essentially the same thing as wallet, so it turns out the carriers are just trying to blackball Google out of the wallet/mobile payment game.
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/12/19/verizon-is-ok-with-isis-mobile-wallet-accessing-the-secure-element-on-your-phone-just-not-google-wallet/
Sprint has been toying with their own wallet app, but at the moment, it's nothing more than a rough concept, backed up by leaked PowerPoint slides. As of now, there is no tentative release date for this app.
The L900 will likely be officially supported in the next release of Google Wallet. They've made changes that allow easy installation and use without build.prop hacks, signifying a beta testing level for the device.
The roll out of Google Wallet has been handled exceptionally poorly, both by Google and carriers like Sprint. Hopefully, they'll get their act together in the coming quarter.

Stock.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I'm rooted. Always am.
But, I'm running a stock(ish) ROM. Rooting has nothing to do with it. You just have to sideload the app.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Rooting has something to do with it on my VZW N2. There are files to flash.... Not possible sans root. Please show me how it's possible on stock non rooted sprint phone.
If you're running the MA7 ROM, all you need to do is download the Wallet apk, check the box for Unknown Sources in Security settings, and execute the apk. It will install and run with no issues, and no unsupported device warnings. No root required.
* I'm Rick James, *****! *
It's not going to show up in the Play store. Search for the thread I mentioned and download the version for MA7. Once downloaded, open it, it'll ask if you want to install. Click yes and it'll do the rest.

I only got the phone to use with Tzones. I'd like the wifi calling and Samsung camera features. Has anyone put a Tmobile oem rom onto a Google Play S4 yet? Couldn't find anything searching, seems everyone is putting the GE rom on tmobile phones.
I'm sure it'd be much easier to trade phones with someone who got theirs from T-Mobile. I'm sure you'd find people willing to do so as well
Sent from my GT-I9505G using xda app-developers app
Rule number 1 when flashing is to never flash a ROM not meant for your specific device. So I'd say not really because even if the differences are minor flashing a ROM like that could end up bricking your device. However, you could ask the dev to port the ROM.

Can't use a tmobile branded phone with the $5.99 Tzones internet plan. That's why I got the GE S4. It's be cool to have the tmobile software on the google play hardware.
Hey all-
I just picked up a one and I LOVE IT!
I came from a rooted galaxy nexus and Ioved the freedom of root, however the one just looked to goog to pass up eventhough we currently do not have root capabilities.
So I have gotten used to using Google wallet on a daily basis and now that I am using the one, Google wallet will not work, and the one is not supported by Isis..... Is there a work around?!
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
The One is supported by Isis. I have it on my phone. Not like there's many places to use it anyway, I have 3 places in my town where I can use it and they're all coca cola machines lol.
Are you downloading the correct Isis app? I believe there are separate ones for tmobile, at&t and Verizon in the play store.

I had to factory reset my phone today. And now I can't download Isis. Can't even find it in the play store. I have to Google it and then link to the play store and then I get the not compatible message.
It WAS compatible. It was a PITA to set up too, and now it's all gone...
WTF is this crap, why would it all of a sudden not be compatible?

Isis is still unavailable to us, Google wallet is n ow available. Isis just lost a major credit card company they were using, so I think they may be on their way out (hopefully) Capital One just pulled out.

I'd just stick with GW, sounds like ISIS is having issues. Especially with Capital One backing out.

Still doesn't allow payments via "tapping your phone" with NFC. Just lets you send money to people who have a email address and a bank account linked to it, it's basically PayPal.

That solves it. I've never bought anything from the store to be honest. Well I did have to enter it in when I bought my nexus 4 last year. BTW I wasn't trying to be harsh. I've just seen threads with frustrated people asking why g wallet doesn't work on their device. Even when I had it on my gnex i used it a few times. When I had it on my n 4 I never used it. I think I tried at at almost every place to see if I could get used to it. Most retailers don't even have that activated at their pos system. I found it faster to pull out my card.

I'm holding out hope that this will make nfc work any skeptics go read latest info for Google wallet in play store all you haters and paranoid im not putting my credit card on internet lol
You sound like my dad
That's what credit cards are for purchasing things and not being liable of you didn't make transaction lol.
Sorry for being optimistic.
We will know more by end of week
Read this and tell me what you get from it. Maybe our device won't be one of them but what I read and posted earlier today said all phones android 2.3 and higher.
I just dont see why they would do this just so we can send money to people in gmail ? And it says nfc
Nfc would have nothing to do with sending money to people threw email.
Who knows just something I'll keep my eye on ans thought you all might want to also. No one is forcing you to use it
