Problem loading CyanogenMod 9 - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Used a modified version of ODIN 3 to root with stock ROM, then used the latest regular ODIN to load the latest version of CWM recovery (version 5.0.2.7?). Downloaded CyanogenMod 9 for epic 4g and galaxy s2. checked the md5, but neither will load. I boot into recovery mode, select the zip file from my sdcard, the load begins, but then after 30-40 seconds I get an image of the android guy laying down with his stomach open to a keypad with a red astrick. Anybody else had this problem? Anybody know which of the two roms I should actually be using?

You need a version for epic touch 4g. Neither the epic 4g nor galaxy s2 will work. You are lucky you didn't brick

Yep, found the alpha version but I still had to load a different version of cwm. I'll post links to the directions I followed later today.

Just installed Rom Manager messing around and found that our device is listed but when I tried to flash it's recovery it shows 5.0.2.6 installed, but when I boot into recovery it's still showing 5.0.2.3.
Was it already listed and just not working? I'm running Starburst 1.7 with the stable kernel if it matters.

No, it wasn't listed previously.
Probably the first stages of giving us official support.
I never installed it before because it was easy enough to use Odin and I knew we weren't supported when I got my device. That's cool though because I had read he was gonna nail down recovery and pass the phone onto the team for development. Nice step in the right direction.

Exactly. Koush writes cwm and he is supposed to be our dev for cm7 too.
I flashed it from rom manager. It didn't work. I tried booting into recovery by turning off the phone and using volume up and power and it brought up stock recovery but then gave me a "!" Error. I also tried booting into it through rom manager with the same results.

Has anybody successfully flash cwm from rom manager or boot into recovery from rom manager?
This is good news! Koush is obviously working on support. Cool!

I tried flashing... And pushing the files but always seem to boot into the old recovery i had... But this means that he or teamhacksung will work on cm7 when its done

Still good because rom manager allows you to select quick backup and restore which speeds thing up.
I have sussessfully flashed with rom manager. I can boot into recovery from a cold boot but if i do reboot to recovery from rom manager it will start to flaash something amd stop a quarter ways... I made a bold move and did a battery pull and it booted into recovery fine from the cold boot

Really? Still didn't work for me... I just went into rom manager, flashed cwm and then selected reboot into recovery and when it rebooted I got the box with the arrow then the triangle with the "!" In it.
I'm fully stock(kernel and rom) just rooted.

Worked great I formatted usb and ad storage, odined the new recovery, and flashed the new recovery through rom manager by selecting download recovery, after it downloads click install rom from sd, go into clockwork folder/downloads and select the new recovery, choose wipe dalvik and Ok. It boots into recovery, flashes, performs back ups seems to be fully functional so far. Thanks Koush! You daMan, may we please, respectfully request some CM7 bits? Been waiting a year and half to get some bacon again. (had the OG Epic previously)

Instead of pulling the battery, I held the power button until the phone rebooted in CWM itself.

And you can confirm cwm updated? Does the version in cwm show 5.0.2.6? Or does it still show 5.0.2.3? When I try to flash over compleatly stock kernel it doesnt work, it says it flashes but I cant get into cwm. When I flash over chris' stock with cwm packed it appears to flash just like on the stock kernel but when I load cwm it shows the older version 5.0.2.3. I have tried everything I can think of and no matter what, 5.0.2.6 doesnt load up for me.

Trying to download roms

I always used to be able to download any files I wanted to my phone but lately the past week or so, when I try to download any modem. Zips or rom. Zips it fails download and tells me that the file is not supported on your phone.. I know that's not the case so I'm wondering if any of you have ran into this problem and if so how do I remedy it?

[Q] Sprint sgs2 never rooted, but bricked?? am able to enter DL and Recovery

I got this phone from a friend of mine who after having the phone basically crash in his hands decided to just get the S3 instead of trying to figure this one out.
It is a Sprint version S2 so it is a SPH-D710. I have began some preliminary searches on methods to repair this so I can actually root it. From everything I have read so far it sounds like it should be able to accept and execute commands from Odin. Not the case however.
I can enter both download and recovery modes and when in Odin the com port highlights as yellow signifying that it is reading my phone. It runs through a brief list of script and then the first box in odin is full green bar but that is as far as it gets and will stay that way till i get irritated and pull the battery. I have no way of getting anything information wise from the phone cuz it will not boot up and when in recovery mode it is just nothing but read script with error code after error code.
What do I do and where do i begin to recover this device? I would love a actual link to the stock firmware and kernel and rom installed from factory so i can hopefully get it to its original form and start fresh from there... I have previously rooted and tinkered with my own personal phone the HTC One V, so I am no expert by any means but do understand enough to follow along without causing you guys any frustration!!
Ill thank you initially here and muuch more after problem solved.
P.S. in recovery mode the option apply update from external storage is there, Is it possible to load necessary files on sd and boot from recovery that way?

Which rom are you using in odin? Did you check the md5? Are you sure you are loading it in the right place? Have you tried more than 1 rom? I suggest trying one of the one click odin roms.

Try any of the one clicks available, if they don't work see if someone will post a stock update.zip for you. Where you still have access to download and recovery your device should be able to be saved:beer:

Typically in that instance you wouldn't be able to get to recovery or download. I'm pretty sure that it just gives the blod.
Not 100% on that, but I do know that I flashed a Tar for the wrong version of my galaxy player (they didn't include the last digit of the model number to differentiate) and was able to recover that. In theory it should be the same

He does mention being in recovery, maybe he can copy a update zip on sd card and use recovery to flash back.
