I have a problem I have two different cwm's one from rom manager for the gt i1900(s2) and the 3 finger permant one I accidently flashed the s2 on here when I was first rooted and stupid and I want to get rid of it any ideas how? I want to get rid of it because my phones boot into recovery option puts me in the temp cwm and not my permanent 3 finger cwm. I tell the two apart from the controls temp is the menu as select and the real one uses the camera button.

Just install a new clockworkmod in ROM Manager which will get you CWM 5.0.2.7 when you choose Samsung Epic 4G and then download and flash the CWM 5.0.2.7 flashable from the thread in Development.

Flash it in my new temp 5.0.2.7 or in my permanent?

Either one. It will do the same thing and replace the recovery on the phone.

Got it done thanks a million! No more boot downs and 3 fingers just use my recovery menu option.

Yup, now that ROM Manager is officially supported via 5.0.2.7 flashing and backing up is so much easier!

Wait please tell me exactly what you did you tried to flash a rom? Thru odin? Or tried rooting thru odin and on what software ei22? Ec05 etc.
Sent From My Cyan Samurai
Well if you can't get into cwm try to odin back to stock ec05 then flash a custom recovery in odin and then download a rom and flash it in cwm. I'm sorely confused on what you did please expand
Sent From My Cyan Samurai
i used odin 1.85 and used the lostkernel 1.02.4 something like that when i tried to root my phone.
Okay well I've never heard of it. Anyways just go ahead and flash back to stock ec05 if you don't know how to do this then follow this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ2g6J1JgjU&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Once back on ec05 you have two options update to ei22 or just root ec05 by flashing a recovery not a kernel. Ill provide you a recovery give me a second.
Sent From My Cyan Samurai
Kala..if u have the stock ec05 file on ur pc..odin back to eco5, and then let the phone do the ota update to ei22. From that point u can go ahead and the rooting process. Make sure u are not using the data cable that came with the phone.

Trying to install ACS Recovery 5 but it won't take after installing from cwm5.0.2.7 using 3 key boot procedure given by QBKING77's video. It just reboots back into cwm5.0.2.7. I recently installed CyanogenMod7.2 mtd on my Epic 4G and was thinking about going to the new alfa 9 but QBKING77 recommends using ACS Recovery 5. Should i use Odin to install it or am i supposed to Odin back to stock ec05 first?

Nononononono! If you are on an MTD ROM such as CM7 you MUST NOT CHANGE the MTD recovery that gets installed with it. It is special for MTD.

Its an alpha because every cm9 build is still in alpha... imo it is defenitely stable enough to go beta, but can't until the upstream says its beta...

I just rooted my fiance's epic 4g/samsung galaxy s2 with Odin (she was/is on FJ12 firmware) and after rooting, I am just wondering how I would go about flashing a new rom onto it. Is it safe to use android recovery to flash a rom with CWM? Just wondering where to go from here. Rooted 3 devices and flashed them but they usually came with CWM. Not sure about android recovery

FJ12 is virgin mobile.
I have no idea if flashing roms for you will be same as flashing for sprint. I have steps listed here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953783 but thats keeping sprint in mind.
Well, I got my rooting from here. Doesn't say anything about flashing a new rom onto it though. :\

Same H/W (just like my MVNO) - just different settings.
Flash as if it's Sprint but keep in mind that MMS will break until you manually correct and things will show as Sprint, not Virgin. Not sure if 4G will need the realm changed or not...
