Battery life is a huge issue to me cause I hate charging my phone twice a day. So I am wondering what rom has provided the best battery life for others?

This is what i am on, and I installed francos kernel, but now it is draining my battery even faster so I think im gonna switch back
what governor r u running?
did u open up the camera and back out to make sure it was keeping ur phone awake?
how often do u have things sync?
do u have something running in the background like a messenger app? or push email?
I reas that android revolution hd is really good! I'm working on rooting my phone (having problems, I'm a newbie) them that is going to be my choice. I saw that everybody talks very well about it

Figured out it was largely the camera app that kept waking my phone, also I use delayed lock which drains it a lot as well

how do you go back to the original kernel?
In this topic i wanna tell you my experience.
As you know stock roms keep battery very good.
So
1.Install your regions stock rom
2.Install phiexz kernel
3.convert FS to ext4
4.and edit framework:
in the latest stock roms framework-res.apk is deodexed
Decomile it then delete uneeded languges then compile it with comperession level9
Finaly replace it into phone
Now you have a stock rom without any bug and with the best battery life, The performance is also very good.
Then callibrate battery and use the phone at least for one week.then u will see the lifetime of battery
Dont forgot using task killers.
Sent from first armv6 with Jelly bean.
Is a task killer really necessary?
Because I am using scripts and overclocking to 864Mhz, my Gio is already very smooth.

I told task killer for better battery life...
Sent from first ARMv6 with Jelly bean.
i actually can`t complain about the battery life, i can get aprox 2 days if i don`t play on my GIO, and i think it`s ok. The strange thing is that my dad has an Samsung Y and he doesn`t play on the phone, only conversations and he actually gets about a week of battery life...
PS : he is on stock firmware
It has weaker display resoloution.
So keeps more power.

When I was unrooted on stock I would usually get about 16 hours a day on batter. I rooted and used stock rom and same battery life. My battery life started draining after I started flashing roms. I had goodness rom and had great battery life for about a week. Then it started draining like nuts. So I switched. I am now running on FREEGS3 I did a complete wipe and to no avail I get bad battery life. I used titanium backup and removed some bloatware but still only getting about 7 hours of battery life. I stay on wifi at home. It drains faster if I am connected to 4G. What am I doing wrong here? I thought freegs3 was supposed to have insane battery life. Any help is appreciated...
Not a clue you provided 0 information to help us help you. Specific rom build, kernel, settings for screen, sync, etc battery stats in a screen cap
Download better battery stats and open it and let it sit in the background for a day then check the stats and post a screen cap that'll give more info to go on. No one can tell you why your battery life sucks from "my battery life sucks, help"
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
What evil said for sure...but I can tell you it has to b your settings or a rogue app because I get insane battery life from FreeGS3 v2.0.0. I don't have LTE available too me yet, but I always leave screen brightness on high, auto sync on, Wi-Fi, data and Bluetooth always on and with moderate use I routinely get 15-16 hours and one time with lite use I got 1 day 3 hours. I did disable the connection optimizer through titanium backup.

Info
Sorry for the lack of info in the last post. I'm still new to all this. I've rooted a Droid Charge, Galaxy Nexus and an EVO 3D but never used the forums for anything other than finding ROM's, so forgive my ignorance. Any ways, here's some info.
ROM: FreeGS3 JellyBean v3.0.0 - I installed it with the stock rom and the stock kernel it came with, but replaced the kernel to include bootanimation supper.
Kernel: LJ7KernelWithBootanimationSupportFIXED.zip Which shows up as below under "About Device" in the settings.
Kernel version
3.0.31-329968
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Tue Oct 16 22:37:51 KST
2012
As for screen settings, I have all of the power saving options enabled under power saving mode in the settings; CPU power saving enabled, Screen power saving enabled, Background color enabled, Turn off haptic feedback enabled. Automatic brightness is on also enabled.
Here's a screenshot of the battery screen under settings. This is after a full charge. I just downloaded BetterBatteryStats and will repost the results tomorrow. Going to let it run all night as I use it.
Thanks and sorry again. Will try to do better.
Your media is pretty high, do u have things set to auto sync? Like playstore backup, dropbox, picasa uploader etc? Looks like you have something syncing alot like music, photos, videos or backups or something like that
For comparison heres mine, notice media server is only @ 3% and yours is ar 18%

Here's some screenshots I took a little bit ago. The media thing has disappeared from the battery stats altogether. The settings under my google account were all checked, but I did uncheck as you see in the screenshot. I also have a samsung apps account but disabled the sync in it already. Those are the only two accounts I have. The "Media" already disappeared before I unchecked picasa and google movies and tv, neither of which do I use. I do use google play music though. Could that had been what was appearing in the battery stats earlier as media? Other than these few settings in my google account and the samsung account I don't know what else could be syncing. What is the "Internet" sync for under the google account and should I uncheck it?
Thanks

Been on "Goodness" since 7.0.0 with whatever kernel was included (stock I believe) and nothing but stellar battery performance so far. I am on wifi all day though.
Have you thought about getting a new battery? I'm think about doing this. Battery life is just "okay" for me now.

Do you use google play music? cause its causing wake locks. My phone never went into deep sleep. It was 100% awake. Rebooting should solve it. Till you use google music again of course.

I dunno guys. It has gotten sporadic. The other day my battery lasted 9 hours. Then I charged it and it only lasted 5 hours. One time I check on the battery under settings and it said that the "Android OS" was using most of the batter. The last time I check it I got a screenshot and it said that the "Phone" was taking most of it and I didn't even call any one. I'm thinking of just doing a true wipe, and unrooting the phone and counter reset. Just to see what battery I get by going comoletely stock. Then maybe rerooting it. At the moment, I don't know what is happening and I really don't think the rom or the kernel has anything to do with it. I installed betterbatterystats and I don't know really know how to read the data.. I'm just stumped... blegh...

EvEFreeze the Sprint connections optimizer.
I've read those power saving mode things are counterproductive so i don't use them.
One thing that drastically helped me was navigating to system/bin using a file explorer, locating gsiff_daemon and qosmgr and renaming them to include .bak at the end. These are know battery hogs although I'm not smart enough to tell you why. You can always rename them back if it doesn't work. Be sure to reboot after renaming.

I did locate qosmgr as I noticed it was going nuts when I would display the cpu usage under developer options. I have heard of the other one but haven't noticed it running. Oh well may as well give it a shot. I have the connection optimizer turned off so it won't keep searching for a wifi connection and I can just turn wifi on and off as wanted. I do, however have the power saver options turned on. They worked great for me when unrooted. Hmm. Next task will be to locate that other file and rename it. Worth a shot.

I added some screen shots of my battery stats...One with over 6 hrs screen time which is just insane. Another with 4.5 hours screen time using 67% of battery. I highly recommend Odexed Blue ROM. Ever since i flashed it my battery is off the charts.
The connections optimized sometimes will turn itself back on. Turn it off then freeze that $#!%

Yeah I know it isn't from rooting. It is just I don't know what caused the battery drain.. I installed odexed blue, and I got a major increase in battery life. Only problem is I don't like the ROM because it's just too much blue for me. Lol I don't mean to be picky.. just hurts my eyes.. why? I dunno. But the battery life is great so far. So now I just need to find the right ROM. Ugh.. maybe just a stock ROM and kernel with the lame ol' Samsung boot up and shutdown animations. Hmmm.. but thanks for your help. At least now I know it is draining due to something in the ROM or kernel.

I can't comment on that rom but I am running the goodness rom and my battery works great. I would say at least as good when I was on rooted stock. The roms is very stable and has tons of options.
(this is my first post so im sorry if i posted in the wrong place or asked in the wrong area)
A couple nights ago i flashed a 4.2.2 P.A.C man ROM ( dont get me wrong i love this ROM thanks to the devs ) but ever since i installed this ROM my phone has been heating up to temperatures like 96 degrees Fahrenheit this kills my battery really fast, i just use basic apps like stock messaging app or apollo music player :'(
(today i unplugged my phone from the charger at around 7:25 AM and by 10:00 AM i was down to about 23% battery life) along with this sometimes my phone crashes ( i believe its from the heat) and i have to pull my battery pack out and reinsert it to boot up the phone.
I love this ROM but this is irritating me i cant get 5 hours out of my battery i already tried a new SIII battery and the same thing happened.
If someone could please help me or atleast guide me somewhere that would help me i would appreciate it i used to love listening to music on my way home but now i cant :/

try to reflash the rom with full wipe . if that doesnt work use another rom in the meantime. i would of said use another battery, but you stated the problem continued. i think its the rom
Sounds like something may be keeping the CPU at 100%. Let's see some stats?
Wouldn't go as far as the rom is the issue as the person using the rom (not a shot at you op) we need more details on what you did to install and what you came from and stuff. Might be your boot loader needs to be updated. Might be a kernel issue. Like I said can't immediately run and blame roms, even though its possible. Download betterbatterystats and report battery life with detailed info.

The pacman rom is an CM10/AOSP/AOKP or a ported rom.
It is an excellent rom for developers and for those people who like to do a lot of experimentation with their phones.
What I would suggest is to flash a custom rom like "Wicked V10", "Darthstalker X2" or the "STOCKORAMA" V2 rom.
Any custom roms based on Samsung Touchwiz Jellybean 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 would be a very excellent choice.
These custom roms are feature packed with themes, addons, mods and other extras. - Check em out!
Here are the links to those roms in case you decide to flash one of them.
STOCKORAMA | VERSION 2 | Aroma | Multi-Carrier | Multi-Window
WICKED™ v10 | AROMA | Rom Control | Full Customization
DARTHSTALKER ☆ | VERSION X2 | Aroma | Multi-Carrier | Customizable
Good luck!

Please stop posting that its only a good rom for developers... I used aosp type builds steady for 5 months except for when I worked in a certain job site and had to have WiFi calling, I restored right away as soon as possible. It might not be 100% stable but its good for a very very large community including some friends of mine who know close to nothing about phones or modding and devving. Those other ROMs are just opinion (not bad ones at all) and you aren't helping the op at all with his question that he asked.

This attachment right? or is it something else? it usually uses 15-30% battery power per hour depending what i use, i dont usually use applications a whole lot. Like today all i used was stock texting apollo and snapped a couple of pictures my phone was dead before my 4th period class
Now screenshot the cpu states. Your deep sleep slot should be the biggest one. If not a rogue app is keeping your phone awake.

Hey Mates,
After rooting my phone and installing SetCPU to underclock it so as to save some battery time..I created Screen OFF profile and a Battery level profile..
It works fine for some time(like a few hrs) but after that my phone goes down...I cant even power on it by simply holding the power button!
It doesnt show up anything while I do that..
I have to hold the Power button for 10-15 seconds so it makes a hard power on by blinking the Capacitive buttons On and Off!!
SetCPU worked very fine on my HTC Wildfire S...but donno why is it troubling me in HOX!
Has anyone else faced this problem? or what do u think is the problem and what would be an ideal solution?
Help would be greatly appreciated!!
Dont face this with setcpu, and there is not much info about your phone rom. But pls try trickster or no-frill softs to see if problem's gone or not. Then, we'll have more info for solution.
In case of customs rom, go searching in the rom thread if any similar problem?
Alternatively, reflashing rom might clear the issue.

oops sorry about that!
Im using a Stock Rom JellyBean with recent Sense 5 update..
Yeah...as u suggested been using No Frills for the whole day..no sign of Shutdown of Restart so far...and its working fine..
So..I guess SetCpu is the culprit...but I really like the profile feature in it..I dont think even the latest version of No Frills has such..
Would you suggest any app with that feature?? Or a solution for SetCpu with my current provided information?
Help would be great

- No-frills cpu has no profile function, but i'd prefer the soft as it's very light (small size) and battery friendly (not running on background). I can simply open nofrill to change when needed. Also, profiles are not really in frequent usage (the stock rom can manage battery effectively enough, and profiles even consume battery during monitoring the "if" conditions to be matched for activation).
- If you like profiles, go with setcpu. Try to uninstall and reinstall to see if it works. If not, try previous setcpu versions. Worst case, try reflash stock rom if no luck. My phone is also on stock 4.2.2 and no problem with setcpu so far.
- Trickster is more powerful with lots of settings to play with, but requires you more knowlegde to make the best out of it.

How to reflash a Stock ROM? Custom Rom flashing is the thing I know ..but this is new..
And would changing kernel helps? If I should try whats a stable for HOX?

Flashing stock roms are similar to stock: download rom and flash with custom recovery. But flashing stock rom is just one of some other ways to return phone to stock (restore nandroid backup, running ruu, flashing ota update zip..)
