Anyone recommend a ROM that has touchwiz and all the samsung apps but is faster?
you can flash it and try them out.
One that supports overclocking maybe?

Definitely WanamLite! I immediately felt the smoothness with that ROM. On a side note, I have a question about flashing ATT ROMs on Canadian variants. I flashed Wanam (and loved it) but my phone kept constantly trying to connect to ATT DM Manager, which obviously won't work since I'm on Bell. Then after a while it would just show "AT&T Software Update has stopped working". There a way to bypass this or something?
Kyan
I'm digging the KyanRom with the KT747 kernel. I'm still trying to find the balance of nice performance and even nicer battery life. The KyanRom fits all of your criteria.
One more for WanamLite. No matter what ROMs I try, I always end up back at this one, everything just works and the battery life is stellar.
Wanam is good.
But Nostalgia is much smaller (150MB smaller). Plus you can reodex it for extra smoothness.

Self promotion!!!! Not that is bad or evil or great, just making it known so others can draw their own conclusions.

I'm tired of being on gingerbread but I'm pretty much dome with custom roms. I've seen a lot of people bashing the update so I never touched it but apparently they sent out another update a few weeks ago. Did it make things worse? How is the smoothness and battery life compared to stock gingerbread.

Worked well for me. You can change the launcher to a vanilla ics look if you go to Sprint id

I'm a little biased, but I agree. I personally do not care for themed roms. I would prefer to make small changes myself and if I want a little theming, there are a few good launchers out that provide the theming that I need.

Im trying calkulin's 1.6 ics fe22 rom in the original development section. Yes its old. Yes theres recalk. His fe22 and el29 may be old but they are stable and ive not had any snafus yet.
Every time I try ics its still buggy for me. Sometimes the capacitive buttons don't work for a couple seconds, or the weird visual glitch in the task manager. None of it seems worth the hassel. JB is the way to go imo with project butter this thing is bulletproof. Yea they are a bit unstable which I realize I just complained about, but I think jb is worth it because you actually gain something compared to the ics update, where really the only thing you get is access to a couple apps (chrome etc) and instability. It gets rid of all the nice cosmetic changes ics made, and covers them with touchwiz. For the bone stock user, yea the ics update adds functionality (very little) but if you're rooted ics is a waste of time. That and the fact that no one can theme a rom to make this phone not look like a toy anyway.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to find all of 4.2.x features on TW Roms. But, a lot of TW Roms have similar features. I know that some of the more popular TW Roms here in the d2spr section are (in no particular order):
MOAR (Mother Of All Roms)
The People's Rom (TPR)
Goodness Reborn
JellyBomb
Wicked Sensations
Honestly, you can stroll through the Sprint Galaxy S III Android Development Section and if you see an "MB1" or "MC3" or "TW" in the title, you can check it out. Most are really good and have options for excellent battery life.
I personally enjoy AOSP 4.2.2 Roms (Currently on Liquidsmooth v2.2) and the extra features of TW (MultiWindow, motions, etc) aren't enough to keep me there. But I fully understand that my experience does not encompass everyone's preferences, so I keep my eye on the TW Roms and will flash them every once in a while to see what's what.
Try the peoples rom

Perseus is definitely the kernel for you if you like all its features. I do not believe there is an AOSP kernel that has all the features but the SOAPkernel which is found here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186037 is a decent kernel for the AOSP roms. It is an OC kernel and made by the same developer that made all the JEDI roms and Saber kernel.
Hope it helps, but I would stick with the TW roms, Battery life is better too.

I co-sign this. Battery life using Beanstalk plus Devil kernel compares to no other ROM I've personally used. Easily 24hrs with 6-7 hrs screen time. Using Viper for sound and it sounds amazing.
Thanks guys......I'll start checking out the kernels Where do you get viper sound?
I'm actually running illusion ROM right now. I'm trying to like the aosp ROMs but the h+ icons bother me, not having audio tweaks in my kernel bothers me, I like the Samsung keyboard and I can deal with not having multi window because I have halo.
