[Q] Runny Rom 6.1.1 slow after few days - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am very happy with Runny Rom 6.1.1 as it gave new life to my HTC Desire. But I noticed that after a few days the phone gets really slow. Swiping though the home screens is no longer smooth and starting apps takes much longer. I am using Advanced Task Killer but even killing all running apps does not help.
Everything is smooth again after a reboot.
Anyone with the same problem and maybe a solution?

That's why cached app data is eating your ram. With all task managers all you do is switching of the app but cached data is still on. Try with V6 Supercharger script that can be run from Script Manager (google around and you'll find it, there's an explanation on Runny rom thread).

Thanks, I will try the script. I came across it before, when I was installing Runny Rom. But from its name I thought the script would do something with the battery

HTC Desire Runny Rom freezes on boot screen
I had the same problem, with Runny Rom 7.0 beta.
To make matters worse today the phone, frezzes at boot screen with the HTC logo!!!!!!
i cleared dalvik cache, nothing.
I installed Runny Rom ver. 6.1.1, cause it is more stable, but nothing!!!
The phone keeps freezing at the startup screen with the HTC logo. I have already waited from > 10 minutes so it cannot be CPU work load.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

After my first install of RunnyRom I had to wait about 15 minutes until it came up. I also thought it would hang, but I just had do wait longer.

[Q] HD Roms crashing / freezing / restarting

I can not install a HD rom on my partners Desire without it either locking up / freezing in use, power button to unlock the phone will light the buttons but doesn't power the screen or phone just restarts. Stock rom has run perfect for near a year never any issue and I have been running Starburst ROM with DATA2SD for 24 hours without any problems.
It seems that HD roms just won't work!??! It feels like CPU/GPU hang ups perhaps from the different voltage/clockspeed they use? In any case here's what I did maybe I'm missed something.
This is a launch desire locked to T-Mobile with all the latest updates. I have rooted the Desire using the latest unrEVOked and there has been no problems with this. I partitioned and formatted the 4GB SD card to 2.2gb FAT32/1GB EXT4/300mb EXT4/125mb Swap using gParted and full wiped all (data, cache & Dalvik) of phone using clockwork recovery 2.5.0.7 and installed SupeROM v2.0 D2EXT. This wouldn't run for very long at all without locking up or restating.
So I wiped all and installed SupeROM v1.5 D2EXT and this was the same.
So I tried another SD Card and problems were still there.
Reformatted SD Card to 2.2gb Fat32/1.5gb EXT4 using gParted
Wiped all and installed SupeROM v2.0 D2WE this ran for longer but would still restart or lock-up.
Full wipe again and installed RCMIXHD v3.0 D2WE This would last the longest but would still lock up or restart phone.
Deleted all partitions on SD card and formatted it all to FAT32 restored data and Nandroid backup so phone was back to a rooted stock. Phone ran fine for hours.
Installed Starburst ROM with DATA2SD and this has been running perfect for near 24 hours uptime.
Any suggestions?
Just to add I've rooted my Desire and Installed SupeROM v2.0 D2EXT without a problem and that runs perfect.
1.5GB ext4 partition is generally too big. Maybe the SD isn't class 6 and can't run Data2SD right. Maybe an explanation of why it isn't running right.
I used a two SD cards with various partition formats and sizes the lock-ups are still there.
Something else I've noticed is that each time the phone restarts the date/clock resets to 00:00 6/01/1980.
Maybe just a bad flash of the rom. Reflash it without a wipe and see if it helps. Try another rom to see if it's hardware issue.
Tried a few roms and the only ones that don't lock up the phone are the non HD roms. I think it could be hardware fault, but it really does run fine with stock rom and starburst rom so I at a loss as to what hardware is at fault, since surely the hardware would cause problems with non HD roms.
I'm going to keep trying different roms and see which works best. Could be all irrelevant soon once an official GingerSense rom is released.
I have the same problem (black screen with lighted buttons) and I have seen it with official 2.2, starburst 1.3.3.1 and 1.3.3.3 (data2sd 0.7 and x1). Could be a hardware fault. Can I be so unlucky? I have already had it for service for overheating-bootloop
Cool HD v9 DATA2SD works with no problems. It's a HD Rom and it's very stable and very fast so it does the missus.

Are you experiencing any lag? Especially with Sense frequently reloading itself?
I'm not, no. It's really quite stable and a very smooth rom.
Sometimes custom skins crash and revert back to standard sense skin but the phone is still usable.
try to flash a RUU. Then root your phone again etc
It had solved many problems i had before.
Hope it helps you.

Desire rebooting over and over.

Sorry for not posting the solution, for the solution, I will post it now.
Problem:
My S-OFF and rooted Desire worked fine with different Sense 2.1+3.0 ROM's. Then I wanted to try out a fully Sense 3.0 ROM - this worked fine (despite that it killed my cam + flash), but I found it a bit slow on my Desire, so I wanted to restore a backed up ROM. After the restore, my Desire keeps booting into the ROM, stays at the home screen for 1-5 seconds, and then reboots. This cycle goes on untill the battery is empty. I also tried to install ROM's from scratch with full wipe, but the outcome is the same as above.
Solution:
I installed the official Stock RUU ROM and then it works again, I even rooted it and also run the Alpha Rev to make it S-OFF. All this without any problems...or that is almost without any problems, because my cam + flash are still not working..!
New problem
After this I of course tried to install new ROM's again, but this doesn't work any more, the the initial Issue with rebooting reappears.
Maybe instead of just writing solved, leave the problem there and add your solution for other users that might encounter the same problem.

[Q] Sense Reboot

Hello,
I have Runnymede V.5 CM7 HBoot with 4EXT Recovery, 1GB EXT4 partitione running on HTC Desire. I have installed the ROM and it's amazingly fast and stable except for one problem, when I try to install apps from the Market after the app download is finished and when the installation start of the downloaded app the Sense reboots. And it keeps on doing that, thus consuming all my internet package because it keeps on downloading the package then installing then rebooting then redownloading then installing and so on....
I found somewhere in the forum that if I change the language the problem will be fixed, so I tried changing the language to English(UK) and English(US) to French, but still no luck. Same problem sense keeps on rebooting.
What exactly do you mean with "the sense reboots"? Do you mean the process or the phone or what?
It doesn't do a full reboot, I don't get the boot loader logo but when it reboots I get only the sense logo "Runnymede HTC logo" so that's why I guess the sense reboots and it's not a full reboot.
Do you have the phone overclocked?
I just started using runnymede and had the same issue until I took the overclock I was using down to stock speeds
I didn't have it overclocked before I installed the ROM, and I didn't play in the ROM settings. I don't know if the ROM overclock by default or not.
So check the CPU frequencies, e.g. with quick system info pro.

[Q] Phone is really slow in some cases

Hey
I have a problem with my hox, when i press the powerbutton to unlock it takes 4 up to 7 seconds sometimes to turn the screen on.
Also when i open an app it sometimes takes up to 3 seconds before the app really starts, homescreen and app drawer are lagging.
But games and such stuff are running smooth.
I had the same problem 1 or 2 months ago and fixed it by formatting internal sd card and restore all the data and restored an older nandroid.
But now i even installed cm10 with full wipe and after a few minutes the same problems come back.
I'm running CM10 Nightly 2012-09-23 and faux010vf kernel.
Has anyone experienced the same ?
Thanks for any help!
Lol your running a nightly and a variant free kernel that is given no proper support. Here's a easy fix to have a fast solid HTC One X >
1. Backup important data (TiBakup)
2. Install ViperX 2.7.1 (or HoX rom, I recommend no nightlies and try to stick with sense based roms)
3. Setup the phone to your liking and restore backup from step one.
4. Reboot device and charge to full.
5. Flash Faux123's 010M and wipe dalvic and cache ( or 010u but i recommend staying away from vf)
6. after a full boot set your cpu settings under VenomX's built in CPU control (or cputweaker or the like)
7. reboot one more time for safety
I'm getting 1.55GHz quad, almost no battery drain on deep sleep/idle and around 5.4hrs of on screen a 21hrs of battery from 100% to 5% and the device runs way colder than any device I've touched while benching or gaming. Honestly what more could you get out of this device?
Yeah thanks but i dont want sense, i'd rather like to know whats causing the issue.
Funny thing is i had the same crap on ARHD months ago, it was just an folder on sd card
that screwed the rom up.
I'm running cm9 cm10 since the first preview and never had any problems with that.
Same for faux and the vf versions..all perfect but now it is a pain really
Ps: sorry for bad english :s

Phone randomly shuts down and continues to do so after reboot. Help pl0x.

I'm running ViperX 3.3 at the moment. Was running ViperX 3.2 before this and 2.7 before that. Once I installed 3.2, my phone ran well for a few days and I was quite pleased because I've been having tons of issues before that. And one fine day, it just powered down during use. Upon rebooting the device, it got to my home screen and shut down within 5-10 seconds. Tried that a couple more times and it didn't work so I just ran a fresh install of my ROM, with factory reset, clearing cache and dalvik as well. Got to setup screen and powered down again. Tried it again, worked for half hour and powered down again. Got annoyed, flashed cm10 nightlies, but had issues with logging into my google account, would give me the 'unfortunately google account manager has stopped working', I went to accounts and it was saved there but play store would display a 'error retrieving data' sort of message. Removed my sim, switched it to a backup phone and ran viperx3.3 again, left it for 2-3 days and when I noticed that it wasn't powering down, I switched back. Ran smooth for a day. It just shut down again. I have absolutely no idea what to do now.
Another odd thing that I've noticed since installing ViperX 3.2/3.3 is that my clock speed has been capped at speeds under 1.5 (1.3, 1.4, 1.2, changes every time I freshly install my ROM). Haven't messed around with overclocking/undervolting at all. Clock speeds are set to 1.5 max and the 54 min but if I change the min to 1.5, it stays at 1.2/1.3/1.4.
Please help. I've tried searching extensively but can't seem to find any threads similar to this.
Have you see this thread??
However, try to install ViperX 3.3.4 and check if you have the problem

I was running 3.3.3 just now and it powered down, I just tried reflashing without wiping but it powered down. I'll try with wipe this time but I'm pretty sure it will power down within the day if not soon as I'm done. Going through that thread you just posted to see if anyone else has faced similar issues.
EDIT: Happens after reflashing with wipe as well.
