I know we have a thread for all the ROMs but we just got included in the new update for ROM manager so the EVO is supported. What do we need to do to start getting our ROMs on there? If there is anything I can do please let me know!

To get added to the ROM list, and use the OTA system and customizers, etc, devs should follow the instructions here:
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/03/rom-manager-and-third-party-roms.html
There's like 2 dozen ROMs for Droid listed (as well as a bunch for N1/Dream/Sapphire). Hoping to build up the Evo community on it as well!

I thought rom manager required flashing it's own customer recovery. Is this not the case anymore or has clock figured out how to flash a recovery to the evo???

All I did was flash a rom manger friendly rom and installed it. Went to market and downloaded rom manager. Then loaded it and downloaded clock boot from there. Went through that process.
Now I just click reboot to recovery from rom manager and it boots me right into the custom clock recovery and you can do however from there.
It's worth every penny!!!!!

not yet but toast and maejrep say they do have a method to flash /recovery its just manual and includes an older version eng hboot.
the clockwork rom manager method basically puts itself into an update.zip which is signed so the stock HTC recovery loads it and bam! custom recovery appears!
im still wondering how hes able to sign an update.zip file which HTC allows cuz IMO, that was the missing key!

It's just a test signed zip that does a hot recovery replace (it doesn't actually flash). You guys are running a Test HTC image, so test keys work on it.
Will this work with Froyo?

I was going to test it and I keep running into problems.
Maybe it's the ROM Manager? It won't auto reboot (maybe I don't get the whole idea) and if I manually try to update it with the recovery mode with update.zip, it fails immediately.
Anyone else having this issue?
I notice that when installing the recovery, there is a update.zip place in the root of the SD card. I think that is the recovery file. Anyway, I did a reboot to recovery mode, and it worked no problem. Reboot the phone again, it will boot back into android OS.
Man..this one sick program but brilliant.
PS. Got the paid version also. I think this will comes in handy later.

yea the hot recovery flash is not a big surprise ...
aaahhhh, the test HTC image part with the test keys, that makes so much sense!
sorry for the n00bness, still new to signing zips. where can test keys which work on the Test HTC image be obtained from?

The ones found in the android source
does anyone know if rom manager will work if you used the unrevoked method to root?
This won't work on unrevoked. It requires rooting via toast's method using the test image. You can find instructions for this method in the sticky thread pg 1 of this forum, how to root the HTC EVO.

Great news .. Thanks
awesome news to wake up to!
Great news!
OP, after fastbooting the official CWM recovery image, does this mean we can use the ROM manager app already and we can start those flashing/backup/restore from there?
Also I noticed in their site, it is still version 5.8.2.3, the one you posted is more updated version 5.8.2.4.
Awesome to see some official love Whilst it doesn't do a whole lot more than the interim recoveries,, I assume we will be getting more work done on it too!

You need to flash in fastboot by using the command fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery.img)
Also a full list of recoveries for most devices can be found at:
http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Issues being examined:
Cant mount USB in recovery
No charging while in recovery (It could be working but needs confirmation)
Cant flash from Rom Manager
Enjoy
EDIT 1: Next step is to enable USB support in recovery. As soon as that is done and ADB is working it will be easy to enable mount USB. Koush is on this. More testing later tonight.
EDIT 2: Problems flashing some roms flashing fails with assert failed. Looking into this later today, till then use interim recovery..
EDIT 3 : Every Rom that checks deviceid on install will fail as deviceid is wrongly stated in recovery as endeavouru rather than endevoru which is the right name. Will tell koush and we'll have a new build shortly after

They got it working on the cdma, maybe we can port the libs to our device?
Some month ago I have compile clockworkmod recovery from my computer source and could have "power off" support and correct "partition SD card" option.
It's 5.0.2.8 version. Could you just post it in your thread with my name please ?

Wow! It work! Lol. Thanks youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! Love it :good:
I've flashed the Clockworkmod-5.8.4.3 recovery but there's one problem : When I go into recovery, there is an error involving the ext partitions so it doesn't recognise them. Can't make a nandroid backup too because of that. Am I the only one with this problem?

I can answer this question: it is impossible. There are certain problems in work of this Mod. The first: does'nt making full nandroid backup. The second: does'nt flashing boot.img. It is necessary to develop this program still. But something, already is able: root, interface modding, ect....
Howdy.
I have flashed this recovery image and for the first time, can boot into recovery and see what I'm meant to see! Thanks. Previously (2012 hardware) I just hung on the white HTC logo screen.
Now, if I select backup and restore, press the power button, all the text disappears and I'm left with the central hat image... but nothing much happens. Pressing power again brings me back to the main menu. Same thing with -power off. The top option of reboot system now works just fine.
Any ideas? I'd like to backup my current system before flashing WildChild 3, you know - just in case anything goes wrong!
EDIT: immediate edit. cancel all of the above, I'm just new to recovery (obviously!). I went through the main menu a few times, it told me the back button was now active and away I go - backing up as we speak! Apologies!!! and thanks!

Now that you've got the recovery working, you can try any other touch based recovery like PhilZ Recovery or PX Recovery and don't use stock ROM as custom ROMs are faster than stock ROM, now that you've got a custom recovery, it wouldn't be so difficult for you. :highfive: :fingers-crossed:
But first confirm that the recovery or ROM you are going to flash will work with Canadian Gio (GT-5660M) or not or you will have to use ODIN again.
If You Want to Keep TWRP, you can flash the updated version (Released Yesterday) from your current recovery from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2728689
as the version you currently have is one year old.

yes, you are right, it does exist! But! it is able only to backup/restore stock roms. It could flash ext-based roms, but not rfs-roms, only odin can
