OK. I received my extended battery and ever since I have been using it I get weird issues with the phone. First I was getting data lose then reboots and today a dead phone. It charged all night and when I unplugged it powered down after a few minutes. Shows battery is full but will not let me power the phone on. When it did power on it would power off immediately. Sooooo, I am thinking to my self man it could be the battery. I pulled out my old original battery and put it in and sure as hell it powered on with no issues. I have not had any of those issues described since I been back on the original battery. I call sprint and let them no and they said its possible because of the NFC chip inside. Has anyone else experience this?

Yep. They are sending another one. Every time I put that one in, same results. When I put the original one in, works perfect. Did it like 10 time just to make sure. I found that interesting myself

I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus running unlocked, with 4.0.4. Have Google wallet installed with funds loaded on gift card but have been unable to use. I have tried Mc Donald's. Last night I installed an NFC reader and tried to read my passport, no luck. Not sure if I need to flash 4.0.2 then do OTA 4.0.4 to resolve.

Make sure NFC is turned on, and just to be same turn Beam on too.
Go to a Verizon store and see if Beam works with other Galaxy Nexus.
Are you sure your passport has NFC? It has a little icon picture on the front to show that it does. Check your credit cards see if you have any that says Blink or a wifi signal looking picture.
Yes passport has the symbol on the front, and settings are turned on. I will try the Verizon store method...but how. Share a contact???

Just open a web page touch them back to back and your phone screen will zoom out a little and you can send the page to it

Don't do a contact cuz it auto saves on the other phone.
Pull up a website, app or youtube and touch the backs of the 2 phones together.
Also, you're not using a case are you? Some cases, especially if it's thick blocks NFC.
No case but I am using the official extended battery purchased from Verizon.

Try your original battery, the extended one could possibly be either faulty, or non NFC compliant..
So tried it at Verizon store and its my phone. Tried a second battery while there as well no luck, an employee had one to and his worked... so software issue is my guess, any thoughts?

OK so I traded in 3 nexus allready and cannot get a nexus that doesn't drop data ! I allready flashed different radios still nothing . I heard this is common with the nexus and that Verizon nexuses drops and there trying to fix it is that true ? And if not how can I fix this problem ! Its really starting to irritate me .

You need to request a new phone, not a replacement. Luckily mine was fixed after the first replacement, but I believe there is a policy that after 3 phones, they give you either an equivalent phone, or a brand new one, factory sealed. It's 100% hardware related, so unfortunately no software will fix it.

Force 4g to stay on, you can do so by entering this in your phone dialer *#*#4636#*#*
Go into phone information, scroll down, and select the network speed you want.

It drops all data, it's hardware related as I had the same problem. Nothing software is capable of will fix it.

which 4g?
LTE or Wimax?
If wimax, a simple adjustment to NAPID extensions or a reset of the dsa value may do ths trick.
My phone won't sleep for more than 3 seconds. Its driving me insane!!! I press the power button, 1-3 second later it'll just wake up alone. Its SO frustrating. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Fast charge does exactly that.. charges fast lol.. its an option in most custom ROMs now.. eg. When ur gnex is connected to a PC in file transfer mode it doesn't charge very fast. But set it to fast charge and it turns off the connection to PC and charges almost as quick as a wall charger..
As for the warranty.. Samsung should be able to tell you or the original bill of sale that the guy from Craig's list should have given you
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Just call Samsung. Keep in mind if it is an international one you have no warranty.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Theres an option somewhere saying stay awake when charging
I believe you have a fault charging port, and best solution would be to send a warrant claim .
You could try to clean the charging port with a q-tip, and check if any of the pins are out of place.
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
Thanks guys! So if I call they'll know I'm not original owner right? And yes its unlocked gem international version

Hey guys...my phone broke and somehow Verizon sent me a PB Galaxy S3 somehow for my replacement device....they didn't tell me they were sending it and my phone still shows on my account as the Galaxy Nexus. Does anyone know if I can keep this phone or will I get some kind of call from VZ about this? If I can keep it, what's the best and cheapest way to get a battery and back cover for it? Thanks!

I believe since the Galaxy Nexus has reached its end of life, Verizon is now replacing the Nexus with GS3's. It's odd they didnt include the back and battery, however. I would call them and they should provide this for free.
Call them. They have mistakenly sent me replacement phones twice without the covers and batteries. They are free.

I didn't do anything. My phone died somehow after being on the charger. I didn't ask for an alternate (which I have done in the past but not in this case) and boom 2 days later...GS3 shows up much to my surprise.
By the way. Does anyone know what I can do with the spare batteries? I got like a whole stack of unused ones that somehow were sent to me....like 2 normal ones...2 extended one..and 2 back covers....

Okay, I have been getting the sod on my gnex for a long time. Anytime I would launch an app after about 15 seconds into it my phone would freeze and go into sod. I flashed back to stock and sprint replaced my gnex so when I got it I kept it unrooted for a while to see if it was because I was rooted. Same thing happened while I was unrooted. I thought to myself let me use the stock battery to see if the problem might be the extended battery. Sure enough while on the stock battery the sod's stopped. Its been a day now. Has anyone else experienced this, heard of it or can it be possible? Thank you.

The one from sprint that they were giving away. That's the second one they sent me. The first one my phone wouldn't boot and as soon as I put the old one in it booted. Now the second one seems to causing sod's. Possible?

Sure. If the battery is unstable and cannot properly sustain its voltage. You say it's reproducible when opening apps. Generally this action will cause the kernel to temporarily increase the CPU frequency and voltage, if the battery cannot deliver, I imagine this can affect Android in multiple undesirable ways

Good advice. Thanks. For the longest time it was driving me nuts. I thought it was kuz I was rooted and running beta Roms but my gut was pointing to the battery. Just didn't want to believe and think that it would caused the issue. As soon as I use the extended it happens every time.
