[Q] SIII Worth it?

Hey guys, I think I have contract renewal soon with T-Mobile. I've been using HTC for years, and frankly they've sucked. The kernel source code for my device took a lot of time to release, and it was incomplete, so I'm tired of this non sense. Sammy devices get a lot of dev love, so is it worth it?

I had an htc one s as my first tmobile device. Got the gs3 and quite honestly might be going back to it. The gs3 is awesome but i have way too many reception issues with it.

Just look at the dev forums. CM 9 builds popped up last week and now CM 10's already here. The developer support will be massive since the hardware is unified across all the US carriers and the phone is very popular.

My wife is getting very tired of me telling her how much I love my new phone. I've had it nearly a month and I love it!

Damn guys this all sounds very good, but apparently my mom is planning on buying only one when the contract expires :banghead:

Wow I just got called a troll over on the MyTouch LG E739 thread cause I stated I am getting a sgs3 tomorrow. Haha rofl [email protected]&$!es be jealous. Anyway just wanted to say whats up and I cannot wait to contribute to this section. I'm not really a dev, but I pick up on things here and there. I used to do a lot on my mytouch 3g slide and 4g,, but with 3 kiddos I just don't have the time anymore. But I help out where I can.

I recently departed with my mytouch4g. You'll feel like it's too big. Then you'll go back to the mytouch and it'll be muchhhh too small. It's a fantastic phone. Have fun.

Aye, we get a shortage tho every time there's a blizzard. Bought a backup battery. Had to burn the burn the mytouch to fuel the generators. And thanks. I love my name.. and my phone.

Your Favourite Phone

OK so we all know the GS3 is, to date, the best phone. But after all the phones we've gone through, there's that one "special" phone. That special phone could be special for any reason...which one would it be for you.
I'll start it off..
Mine was the Nexus One...IMO, the greatest Nexus of all time.
Because at the time, not many people had it, since you had to really want it to get it. It was solidly built by HTC, had the most RAM, and was just the easiest to tinker.
Not to mention people used to see it and say, "is that the Nexus One? Can I see it" ....and they'd hold it like it was baby Jesus.
And how about your worst smartphone ever, or at least the most disappointing "smartphone"?
Mine would have to be the Xperia X10, out of the box. I feel sorry for my wife when I tried to sway her away from her 3Gs to Android via Xperia X10. Let's just say she's not fond of Android up to now.

I would have to say my favorite would be the phone that started the smartphone craze for me. That would be the AT&T Tilt 8925. It's what got me started here at XDA and began my flashing craze. I'd hate to have to go back to it now though.

I will be way back to Nokia N75. I love this phone old good flip phone. But of smartphones must be samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket.

My favorite was the Desire Z.....too bad my boy knocked it out of my hands and down the stairs, of course that's why I ended up with my S3 . Maybe I should fire up eBay and find a screen.....

At the time, my EVO 3D was mind-blowing. It was so fast and the 3D was really fun to show off to people. Also, the regular camera was really nice on it.

Yeah the original Droid (Milestone in Canada) was my 1st Android device. The slide out keyboard was great, and was solid as a freaking brick!

Nokia N900.
Maemo linux, desktop-like multitasking, root from the box, Carl Zeiss optics/dedicated camera button/lens cover slider - best cameraphone I've ever had.
I was hoping that Nokia will get things right with N9, create and promote vast app ecosystem, instead they turned to the dark side(
My next hope was WebOS, failed too and here I am, happy android user.

My fav phone was also my first Android device. The HTC Hero (gsm version).
Oh boy that thing was fun. Didn't root or flash anything for about 4 months but was soooo happy when I took the plunge.
Built solid and was nearly impossible to screw up its was a great learning tool.
Upgrading to an S3 has been simply amazing. I look at my old Hero and can't believe how I got by with that small screen lol.

HTC Legend for me. I still think it was the best looking phone HTC made. The One X is also up there but the stupid sealed battery was it's death blow. I like this phone, but as soon as the Note 2 comes to Canada this one will be gone.

Well, it's goodbye!!!

With a heavy heart I am here to confess I am leaving the world of Vivow... :crying: The waiting game for updates and empty promises from HTC and Verizon both, I have made this decision to sell my Incredible 2 and never look back. With that said, I am also saying farewell to HTC completely. Not enough backing of their current lineup in my opinion. I shouldn't have to upgrade to the latest phone just to get the new build of Sense or latest build of Android. I should also not have to depend on community developers to get what I want. Oh well, it's time to cut the strings.
Dev's.. from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you all for giving us your personal time and effort into developing fun, useful, and up-to-date roms that just make us flash-aholics happy!! You will never be forgotten!!

I'm so disgusted at the Verizon/HTC issue that I'm using a "hand-me-down" iPhone 4 until my upgrade comes next week.. worth it to me.. Stick it to the man!

I would ask to buy your phone but seem to remember you having all sorts of issues with it....

Ah.. those issues if I remember were ROM related.. The phone has always been 100% using stock or CM7/9 ... but it's very picky about what other roms I use.. very strange device I have.. but un-rooted and stock it will be good as new.. cosmetically just a few blemishes and only one 1/4" scratch on the screen... not bad for having it and using it almost non-stop for almost 2 years now.. I have it on eBay but I'm thinking of pulling it.. almost 40 views already and 3 watchers.. unless that grows I'll probably yank it.. maybe.. I don't know..

Any thoughts on what you are hoping to get out of it?

If I stay with Verizon I'm getting the iPhone 5 in May. Been using my touch more and more. Nice to have good battery life and fast updates.

Ditched my inc 2 a few weeks ago. Gnex is nice, up to date and no bs. HTC has too many phones in their line so they can't keep them updated reliably...

Honestly, I think the best way to go would be an unlocked gsm nexus device because Verizon screws even nexus owners with updates. The gsm version already has official 4.2.1 yet us toro (vzw) owners only have official 4.1.1 and have to rely on custom roms for 4.2.1

S3 are running fine just a little few bugs to be fixed haven't really flashed those 4.2 roms yet stuck on customized touchwiz ^_^

No. The G2N is big enough for all my needs. Sold the tablet and the DINC2 on ebay, got enough to pay for the G2N..

Been 2 weeks now. The SGN2 is just great. Rooted with the Jellybeans Build 16 ROM. Everything works!! Smooth, incredibly fast, great battery life even with the large screen and giant processor. 4LTE is just great! Didn't even cost me anything. Sold the DINC2 and the Iconia A500, paid for the Samsung. Verizon monthly is the same as before.
ROM development for this phone is very good because it started life as a Jellybean phone, so no porting necessary..

Miss my Dinc2... Not really. Been 3 weeks. I dumped big red and got An ATt Galaxy S4. Love it.

Yeah I got this one before they announced the Google S4 variant. Kicking myself a little bit, but my Dinc2 was already on life support. So it was necessary at the time.
I just can't wait to flash good ROMs after the Google one comes out.

If I could I would but the discounts I get and the coverage beats any other carrier out there. I just picked up an incredible 4g yesterday. For free and the form factor you just can't beat. I have a 7in tablet anyhow. Adios all!

Why did you pick the inc over the razr? The razr just seems better in all ways.

I don't know man there was just something about it. It was extremely slippery to hold and I am not a case person. The screen scratched very easy and I carry it in my pocket. The phone would lag extremely bad and would glitch from time to time. I was always having to transfer downloads from internal to sdcard. Just wasn't my cup of tea. Honsestly I havent really ever been a moto fan.
