Camera fix? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I have paranoid android 1.99 installed and my kernel is the LeanKernel from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846158
but my camera still freezes when it tries to focus. any suggestions?

Must be your kernel bro. I have a fresh install of PA with KT-747 kernel and I have no issues with the camera.

i was gonna try that kernel, i was hoping that it wasn't the problem because the battery life with the leankernel is very good. hows the battery life with that kernel?

Ahh gotcha well I'll do a clean install tonight, or try to and hopefully I can see similar results. Thanks for the input

I'm running the same setup and don't have this issue. But i'm also not using the camera it came with as it was like taking a step back for me since I had that camera when I had my Atrix 2. Instead, I use ProCapture and couldn't be happier.

Post your battery stats and rom/kernel combination

played temple run and browsing.. made few calls as well.. is this good battery life??
That's pretty good.
My normal is AOKP M6 with Jame Bond 3.1.9.9 kernel.
Although I'm thinking I'm sticking to the AOKP JB nightlies now. Just using Jame Bond 3.4 kernel now.

That is actually pretty good. It also seems like you play games and that drains the battery pretty quick, especially since is using the GPU much more than in regular use.
I could have never ever achieve this kind of battery with my HTC Sensation even when running CM9.
Here is mine. Using stock but rooted JB and stock kernel.
Used for browsing a lot, Twitter, Facebook, Texting and YouTube videos.

Hi! I'll be going abroad in a couple of days and while I have tested most JB roms I'm not sure which rom has the best battery life. I'm currently using Rasbeanjelly and Trinity Stable 35 and I only got 3hrs of screen on yesterday (however I did have 3G enabled most of the time). Can anyone please suggest the best ROM for battery life ?
Thanks

Did you install lean kernel?

I'm running Lean Kernel and don't have camera issues on that ROM...but I also ditched the stock camera and am using ProCapture, if that matters.

I might have used it except the notification bar was unusably vandalized and unreadable with animated gif... I could have set fastboot=1 or replaced bootanimation, but i liked 99% of the SystemUI. Everything else about it was wonderful.. kernel, optimized, lots of good stuff (well boot animation a little over the top) but SystemUI was unusable like that.
When I first got my s3 I waited about a month before I rooted. I got used to the stock experience. Couldn't believe how clunky and slow the stock experience on the s3 was after I finally got it rooted! The first ROM I flashed was Casper's 9/20 AOKP build. Definitely butter for sure!
Just flashed the newly released build 3 AOKP...kernel is included. I've tried almost every other ROM and I keep going back to AOKP. CM10 is about the only one I haven't tried yet.

Best TouchWiz rom with stock kernel for best battery.

First of all I searched the forums
And if I missed something I'm am sorry for being a noob! (And stupid)
I'm not really enjoying kernels I'm not very good with UV and overclocking (not comfortable in doing so)
I'm jist curious what ROM you use (TouchWiz I need tmobile wifi calling)
Thanks and if this has been posted please inform me and ill delete. Thanks

My phone drains 0.2-0.3% per hour on the stock kernel (on wifi with a decent router). The TW custom kernels are not worth using, in my opinion. Now AOSP on the other hand... yikes. Pretty much have to use them.

You might want to take a look at your wake locks. If you are having that drain while the screen is off, it most likely a wake lock. Search the forums for better battery stats.

I'm running HyperDrive Rom and Ktoonsez Kernel. I have tweaked much of the cpu frequencies and used the ktoon governor. However, my battery life compared to the stock rom isn't that great.
Every phone is different so will run different on your phone. I do recommend Dandroid. It now has wifi calling. Complete based on T999. It used to be a port. It's super smooth with great battery life. And it's Cyanogenmod themed.

There are no "best" rom/kernel combinations for battery. It varies from phone to phone. You could try testing different TouchWiz roms and kernels, but remember to make a nandroid before doing so. Some roms you could try are wicked, stockorama, hyperdrive, etc. For the kernels you should use the stock kernel for stability or ktoonsez.

I need to know what would be the best kernel for battery life wise my phone dies every 4-5 hours I'm on CyanogenMod 10.2 running the valuminatti( I know I spelled it wrong) ROM I'm using a FL24 ICS kernel

To diagnose, flash back to stock GB27 or if you want root, flash back to stock rooted GB27.
After that, install all your apps like normal and wait a few days to see it battery life gets any better.
If it doesn't, I assume you have a bad battery. I know from experience. My stock samsung battery died even faster than that on all roms I tried and finally I had to replace it.
Let me know what happens! Good luck!

Chrome wouldnt let me download Revolt, said it was malicous (Hasnt done it for any other rom) but might just be my chrome being difficult. Anything FLxx based was giving me crap for battery life at best. I test with GB as earlier suggested and that was fine. Right now im running The Blu Kuban with the EL29 baseband, and thats been treating me good. I can easily pull a days usage on it.
Now i have a question. The Blu Kuban is 4.0.4 and its thread says its FL24 based. Why then did EL29 baseband from the GB Rom i had previously stick??
