Greets all,
I tried to do a search but its coming up that the search service is unavailable.
Last night my screen got smashed, so I called HTC to have them fix it for 220, but the big problem here is I am trying to back everything up, and being that when I connect the phone to the computer its automatically on charge only, so the HTC manager wont pick it up. obviously in charge mode the computer wont pick up the "external storage" so I can copy everything off.
I've tried to use Droid Explorer, but that doesnt copy folders and only copies files, and thats a long process. I even tried to use the screencast on droid explorer to see if I can get into the phone to change to either usb or htc sync, but the screencast wont respond.
So I wanted to know if anyone knows the best way to backup the phone? Remember Screen smashed and unresponsive, and HTC told me they will factory reset the phone (Even though its rooted, and bootloader is unlocked).
Thanks.
I see you are on a custom from your signature.
But assuming u totally don't see anything from it, you just have to go to "USB storage" from the recovery menu by "feeling".
What i mean is:
- power off the phone
- hold vol down+power button for 5 s
use a video for the timing like (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxJf8xIVVC0)
Then navigate with the volume buttons and power button
So 1 time volume down
power button
wait for reboot in CWM
5 times volume down key
etc.
then connect your phone and it should load as an usb storage.
good luck!!
xSilv85,
Tried your suggestion but no luck, will not mount, the CWR I am using is: 5.8.3.1, everytime I go to mount and storage and try to mount usb storage (which I think is the second to last one) I get the "Unable to open ums lunfile" error. and mounting the sdcard rears no results as well. I have tried even installing the htc 64 bit drivers with no luck.
I just did a backup of the phone, and that completed, which is a good thing, but yet no way of pulling all the data of the sdcard

Are you sure you did not have to downgrade your phone to a previous HTC release. You should start with a HTC rom version previous to the OTA 1.72 release from december 2010.

Its ok i think i messed up my phone all the way now...it boots directly into clockmod now...there isnt even a htc screen.

Dude let me try and help you.
1) download a known good rom like one thats close to stock
2) go into cwm > mounts and storage > mount sdcard usb > and copy the *.zip to the root of your sdcard
3) unmount by going back to main cwm menu
4) now wipe data/factory reset
5) now wipe cache
6) go into mounts and storage and do format system, then go back to main menu
7) now go to advanced and clear dalvik cache, then go back to main menu
8) now install zip from sdcard and choose the downloaded *.zip which you placed into the root of your sdcard and start flashing.
9) after flash finished, reboot your device and wait for at least 10 minutes
This way I fixed my gf's desire z

You didnt mess up all the way until your phone doesnt turn on at all. Dont give up you are just a few steps from a fixed phone. I would take a moment to make sure you have adb setup on your pc correctly. Maybe even try connecting someone elses g2 if you can. Phones are a lot easier to fix after you spend a littlle time with adb.

Hey
Today I wanted to flash Leedroid HD R5. Before that I had 2.5 Final (Froyo). Now I had unfortunately only a 512MB partition, which I have expanded to 1GB. Then I have formatted both partitions before getting them back into the phone, and flash ROM. Everything went fine until the phone got stuck at the green HTC logo. After ~30 I opted myself for a reboot, which did nothing, of course. When I want to wipe in recovery it always says "E: Can not mount / dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)". What can I do now? I cant flash another ROM, because it also stucks on the HTC logo. Then i read that an unroot is the only way to solve the problem, which I can also not do, because I can not establish a USB connection, if I cant restart the phone. What can I do about it? Hang the whole time to it, tried everything...
Thanks
greeting
Go back to stock ruu and then root again.
i am not able to go to the stock ruu because i cant establish a USB connection without a rom (in recovery i only can mount sd?!)

Take your SD card out and put it in a reader. Run GParted and reformat your Ext3 partition. Probably a good idea to backup any info on the card to your PC first...
I recently had this happen to me when I ran an alignment.zip, thought I had killed my phone, but doing the above steps fixed it.

i'm not really into all of that stuff.. but i just tried and failed miserably, haha.
so this is my problem:
i got a htc one x, rooted it and everything was alright. after that i tried to flash cyanogenmod 10 on it. i followed these stepps in this video: /watch?v=elDvcVot7qo (i would enter the full link.. but i'm not allowed to, because this is my first post here)
so i downloaded the cm10_endeavoru-ota-eng.noeri-007.zip and ripndroidgapps-jb-20120805.zip .. but instead of putting both of them onto my sd card, i put all the datas which were IN the files onto my device. now my handy is stuck on the bootloop and i have no access to my sd card anymore.. i just need the access to fix it, does anyone know a solution for it?

If you did a backup in cwm you can restore it or try and flash the rom again just make sure you read through the whole process a couple of times, mistakes are very easy to make, also look for threads about the rom you are flashing and try and cross reference the procedure, this sometimes helps ...good luck!

I've been looking around a lot and I'm seriously to the point where I'm totally confused, I have my friend's HTC ONE X (international one) where we followed Hsasoon2000's tool kit (which also uses htcdev website) to unlock the boot loader and it apparently it did and everything was good but when we tried to install the CM10 rom for jellybean using his toolkit the phone got into this "boot loop" and we can't figure how to fix it.. we can get to the bootloader.. where if we select recovery it takes us to this "team win recovery project" thing and gives us several options but .. we are pretty new to this and we don't want to screw this even more. I got to the USB storage mount and I'm able to get into the files through the computer.. can any of you guys help please?? WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT

I got it working thanks alot for all your help!!!!
what i did
i use CC rom and updated to latest rom, it corrupted sommehow i guess
it was locked into HTC bootloop and i could not reach recovery with volume button.
i did all guides , they did not work for me...
THEN I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439
Kit and it alowed me to enter the recovery with a ADB command Problem solved, i installed latest backup and it started again.
My htc evo 4g is stuck in a bootloop. I can access bootloader and recovery, I have stock recovery, I have root but also s-on. I properly flashed digital karma over a month ago, only thing I did previous to this event was download two new roms, one was gangnam-style, i think it was jelly bean, i was planning on deleting and not flashing zip. and the other was an ics rom which i was planning to flash, but i was tired and went to bed to do another time. the next day i was working and my phone was in my back pocket and must have shut down or bumped it. when i tried to reboot, it was in this loop. i tried a hard reset. and wiped everything. no luck. i tried flashing my other roms to no avail. but the classic rom loaded up to the lock screen which took forever and then started the loop.
so its in a bootloop and getting to recovery takes forever but i can get there. i was wondering about this pcmg.. zip i have read about. sounded like that might work but can i put it to the root of my sd card with it in my phone or do i need a card reader?? or RUU, or any help would be appreciated. i still don't know how to access my sd card from the usb to computer, i hardly use computers. we own a dell with windows 8.
If you can get into recovery and bootloader, you're golden
Connect your phone to your computer while in bootloader, then go into your recovery. In recovery and bootloader you use the volume keys to navigate and Power button to select
Once there hit "mounts and storages" > "mount usb storage" and your sdcard should show up on your computer
Now go online and find a PC36IMG.zip for any android version, preferably froyo (android 2.2) if you want to root again
Once you get that zip, put it on the root of your sdcard and make sure its named properly (not PC36IMG.zip.zip by accident)
After that, hit the back option in recovery and exit all the way to the main screen and select "power off" or a similar option
Now boot up your phone into bootloader and follow the prompts to flash the stock firmware!
Steps to extract PC36IMG.zip from an RUU (if you cant find a PC36IMG.zip quickly)
Download an RUU and open it, stop once it opens
Open a "Run...." window (shortcut is WinKey + R, idk about Windows 8 though I use 7)
In that window type in "%temp%" (no quotes) and hit enter
Sort the files by date modified and browse through the folders till you find one that has a "rom.zip" file
Copy the "rom.zip" to your directory and close the RUU
Rename the "rom.zip" to "PC36IMG.zip" and follow steps above
EDIT: Try the above, I'm not sure if it will work with S-ON though, If it doesn't, try the steps below
Ok so find the PC36IMG using the steps above, then connect your phone to your computer while in bootloader and select the "fastboot" option
If you don't have the "fastboot.exe" program, get it from somewhere lol (HTCDev has it, I can upload it too if really necessary)
Now extract the PC36IMG.zip and copy the "fastboot.exe" to the directory where you extracted the ZIP
Then for every file in there do the following "fastboot flash "
Now if you get here, post again lol
ok, its getting late and I keep hitting the wrong key and having to re-type everything. so short and sweet. plan A.. fail.. plan b, need more thorough directions. I right clicked and extracted pc36img files and downloaded fastbootexe. tried copying it to the folder and following your directions, but I need more guidance. I appreciate your time. thanks.
No problem
Ok so, can you attach a screenshot of that folder where you extracted the PC36IMG.zip?
And connect your phone to your computer in fastboot mode (boot into bootloader > fastboot option) and run the following command and then attach a screenshot of that too please
Code:
fastboot oem listpartition

Hi
I have tried to install Liquid Smooth onto my HTC One X (UK) but now all i get is the HTC Logo screen. I followed all the instructions to the letter and realised I made a mistake. When I was suppose to copy the Liquid Rom Zip to my phone storage I copied to my external HD instead. so when I whet to install the zip file I found it wasn't there. When I rebooted my phone all I get now is the HTC logo screen.
I have tried fastbood erase cache - but that didn't work
I have tried doing a restore of my back up but did nothing.
I can still access the fastboot menu etc from the phone but i cannot access the internal storage to copy the zip file across for me to install it so it appears I have no operating system on my phone I might be wrong though.
I have tried pushing the zip across using adb but get error saying device not found.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Go to recovery > mounts and storage > hook usb cable > mount usb storage
Then just copy it over and flash
Update
I have an update.
I have managed to access my storage on my phone and copied liquid rom.zip over. I when into CW and installed the rom which went ok, no errors but still can't get past the HTC logo screen. I assume there is something I am doing wrong but can't undestand what, any help would be much appreciated.

If you were on the AT&T/rogers One X's forum, it wasn't the correct one.
Only flash stuff from http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1536 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1684
Now tell me, did you flash the boot or not?
I used a program called All-in-one HTC One X Fix and reflashed the kernel with the boot.img from the rom.zip file and it worked.
