Switching Back to the Incredible 2 - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Maybe I'm crazy (don't answer that), but I'm seriously thinking about switching back to my Dinc2 from the Rezound. After using the Rezound for several months, I'm just not that crazy about it. Sure, its bigger and has 4G, but everything about it - flashing ROMs, S-On/S-Off, this radio, that radio - is so COMPLICATED. The Dinc2 is just so much easier.
And I know that development on the Dinc2 has slowed way down, but it has on the Rezound too. I guess I'm just not sure what I should do, but I don't want to switch, then switch back again. Any advice would be appreciated.

Let me take your rezound for a while to gage whether it is really a pain or not.

On a serious note, 3g in my area has gone to sh1t. I don't know how 4g is in your area, but I wouldn't switch back to inc2 just for that reason.

I have to agree. The 3g in my area is so up and down but 4g is blazing and reliable. I was thinking of trading my newly acquired nexus a couple days ago until I switched over to 3g. It might just be I really like the faster connection.

I got a Droid Charge for dirt cheap, and thought I would like to try out 4G for a bit. Despite Verizon's LTE network being laser-fast, I loved everything else about the Inc2 enough to switch back. But that's just my opinion.

sell that rez for an inc4g lte
i did

I'll never leave HTC. The method used to s off and root was so buttery compared to me trying to root my buddies Motorola. HTC FTW

HTC Will have some amazing flagship phone out at the end of the year. So just wait till that's out to sell your rezound. I can tell it will be good because it's going to compete with the LG optimus G.

I'm sold on that. I'm trying to stay on the droid wagon while the iPhone 5 will be so tempting. But this quad core and 1080p screen defiantly puts enough power in my pocket

If you could get a rezound you wouldn't rather get the nexus? Rezound is using our same Qualcomm S3 MSM8600 chip.
As a phone, the S2 is absolutely fantastic. Does everything I want it to do. As a carrier, I'm still on the fence with t-mobile. Data speeds are plenty fast, but data reception seems to be a mixed bag.
well... when it comes to Reception, that is really the nature of the AWS technology which requires 2 wide bands 1700+2100 for up and down to work
so building penetration is always a compromise

Now that I am on the Galaxy S2, I can tell you that it is by far the best phone that I have ever owned. Even stock, it is absolutely blazing fast. After I put beastmod on it, the thing just flies, and this is before OCing. Keep in mind that ICS is supposed to be able to utilize dual-core technology to it's fullest so when the update comes up (it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when), our phones will be in for a nice tune-up. As for as internet speeds go, I can tell you that it is BLAZING fast. It is faster and more reliable than when I had my G2 (which was just last year).
I can't post pictures but I can tell you that the fastest I have ever gotten with my S2 (in the same service area that I tested my G2 just last year) is 31MBPS. For daily usage, I consistently get 7-14MBPS. I am downloading HD videos off of Youtube in a matter of 5-10 seconds. I am downloading and finishing music downloads as soon as it pops up in my notifications bar. The phone is fast in every way, and everything flows so well together. No lag, no hassle, it just works.
got my phone a few days back from my awesome girlfriend, amazingly fast, battery only lasts a day, from 9 till 6, as i always use data connection, 1850mhz, not much of juice for this 1.5 dual core monster, resolution is a draw back with this nice screen 4.52" i am talking about, only 480*800? meh, waiting for miui roms........ only alpha versions atm, touchwiz looks gay.
speaker is way better than i9000, louder at least! some people say they want metal back cover, i say hey, it is light!!! with this kinda size!
i would give 9 out of 10 for this phone, i wanna buy the sprint version, lol, cdma 2000. not available in china yet, too bad.
What app do I use to test for lines and blobs?

I switched from the Evo 3D about 1 month ago. I have nothing but good things to say about the gnex. I really liked the evo 3D when I had it. I thought I liked sense, but didn't realize how much of a pig it was until I switched to stock Android.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I loved my EVO 3D, but I was always a bit upset at myself for upgrading from my EVO 4G. even though it was nice to go from from single core to dual it wasn't really that big of an improvement that I couldn't have waited.
I ended up leaving Sprint and needed a new phone, so I got a G-Nex. I am fully satisfied with my decision. I have to admit, I'm a bit of a benchmark junkie though. My rooted E3D was a beast. The G-Nex is not quite as good at benches, but I love it still. Vanilla makes all the difference.
However, i switched because i left sprint and needed a new phone. Sounds like you plan on sticking with Sprint. You'll likely be using an upgrade to switch to the nexus. And it is also likely you're last annual upgrade. That being the case, I probably wouldn't upgrade. I would wait for the next nexus, a quad core, or both. Like I said, I like the nexus better but it certainly isn't worth an upgrade and then being locked into it for two years.

No real point in upgrading to a sprint lte phone right now as there is no lte towers. You will be stuck with sprints slow 3g. Best to stick with the e4gt until the galaxy siii comes out.

You are right. However in my house I have no 4G except upstairs window. When home just keep wifi on and use my own internet. Even 3G and calls iffy in house. Without my Airwave my phone would be a brick most of time. Hope so called Network Vision improves coverage. I have no idea when lte is turned on if that will be any better than my current wimax 4g.

I have seen I love Gnex threads and I returned my Gnex threads, at the end of the day its really your preference. Go to Best Buy and check them all out... Jus' My Opinion

I made a thread about this the other day too because I have an upgrade so I went down to the sprint store and played with the Gnex and I dont know if there was something wrong with that one or what but it ran like ****! Force closes everywhere, could not get facial unlock to work. I just installed ICS Hydra rom on my E4GT and it runs SOOO much better than the Gnex. I also talked to a sprint employee and they said the E4GT is far superior. I wouldn't do it!

As of right now my opinion is this. The phone is solid. The corners are kind of harsh. The hardware is fantastic. Surprisingly from what I have heard in the past on LG the ui is pretty good.
At the moment it has the best specs on Sprint period.
Now, when our comes to development, we will have to wait and see. It is the 4th highest selling Android oem on the 3rd largest provider. From that it is easy to say the S3 on At&t gets more attention. This will also never get the following of the Nexus. But, it does have development.
I would get it. You can also wait for the Flossy seal of approval if you like.

Just bought this beast an hour ago, already rooted and transferring my stuff from my Epic 4G. I compared the LG Mach because I didn't want to give up my physical keyboard ( :crying: ) but in the end the dual-core vs. quad-core was no comparison! Plus, $99 at Best Buy was a steal (Sprint store wouldn't price match).
Like going from a Yugo to a Ferrari!
Switched from AT&T and the Motorola Atrix 4G to Sprint and the LG Optimus G and so far, I haven't regretted switching from AT&T to Sprint and from the Motorola Atrix 4G to the LG Optimus G. Can't wait for JellyBean on this phone. Decided to switch to Sprint since Sprint is the only carrier that now offers truly unlimited data.
Just nabbed the last one today @ BB for $99! Loving it so far. Was originally gonna get the Note 2 but the price won't drop. I couldn't resist this deal. Looking forward to the ROMS!
Got this phone yesterday, traded my s3 for it. Loving it so far, since I've hated the S3 as soon as I got it. Evo LTE was nice too had it for 2 months but the 1gb of RAM was killing me with Sense.
Haven't tinkered with it yet but thinking of just stock rooting just for getting rid of the Ads.

What are you considering to replace your G2 with?

I'm sure there are plenty of threads with similar topics, but I haven't really looked around...
So anyway! I'm having a hard time deciding what to go for. I'm thinking of dumping T-Mo for AT&T since I'd receive a discount because of my employer. And I'd like a taste of LTE for once. But I'd have the discount option with anyone (except t-mo of course, go figure)
Lately I'm eyeing the GSIII, the Note II, One X+, Nexus 4 n Droid DNA
Thoughts? Opinions? Rants or recommendations? I'd really love to hear from the community
Especially about whether or not I should stick it out with Magenta due to all their acquisitions and promise of future upgrades.

well there's more stuff that makes me prefer the iPhone. The active sync support for example. From my experience it is the only mobil OS that truly does Exchange ActiveSync (havent checked WP8 yet). It can sync all of my calendars as they are.
Android makes one big chunky calendar of all of my calendars.. iOS syncs my tasks, stock android doesnt.. only current HTC roms do but they are really laggy.. so I guess it comes out that from a user experience I'm disappointed with android.
what I love about my device is its keyboard and the fact that it basically is a linux which offers me some nice abilities as a software dev.
So I'm crossing off the Nexus 4 from my list due to it only having up to 16gb of internal, no SD Card expandability and no LTE either

I am looking for a new phone also, but I really don't want to pay the high price, or extend my contract to get a SGSIII. So I'm running out of patience with my g2, and also Google for that matter. Whoever planned this sale/manufacture/distribution for Google needs to get the axe.

Has LTE but only activated for tmobile or band 4 LTE so select locations.
Unless you dont have unlimited data or in a poor coverage area, 16GB should be fine for most people. Using google music and other cloud services allows you to not use phone storage for music/pictures so more space for other stuff.
I'm personally choosing the Nexus 4 or by the time i can get it, Samsung GS4 which should be released in april/mayish in the States.
I live in the northern end of SoCal, and my signal SUCKS wit T-Mo. I did see an improvement a little after the AT&T deal fell through, but ultimately I am entirely dis-satisfied with overall reception
Of course, that may be attributed to my G2, esp because I recently dropped it in water for the first time, recently
:banghead:
So cloud services are not a viable option for me at this time. And I currently use a 16gb sd card, and had to erase a bunch of music to make room. So a 16gb phone won't cut it for moi

Mission upgrade completed.
After 2 years desire z going for sale.
I really enjoyed physical keyboard and I'm already missing it.
New phone Nexus 4 16GB
I never really bought the newest generations of smartphones, mainly because of monetary reasons, but I like to think I have always made a good choice.
I'm thinking about upgrading the Desire Z to a Sensation XE (I really like the looks, and the specifications are decent to me) or a One S (a bit better than what the XE offers). I really like Sense, so I will definitely upgrade to a HTC.
I went to the note 2 and I am absolutely unbelievably happy with my decision.
I had the g1 the day it came out (actually a little before since I was a pre order) same for my g2. Was thinking about going to the relay 4g but then I found it the note 2 was coming and decided to wait and check it out.
So glad I did! Didn't think I could go without a physical keyboard but then I thought maybe since the phone was bigger it would be easier. If I ever get frustrated I just whip out the s pen and use that. Comes in handy when wearing gloves too.
This thing is so fast but best of all, it has INCREDIBLE battery life! I never have to charge during the day like I used to. I still bring my charger with me out of habit but I've never even used it in the car. It's after 2 a.m. I've been going all day and I'm still at 44%. I change overnight just by habit too. Could go a day and a half with this thing. It is wonderful not having to worry about conserving battery. Just use it for whatever whenever.
Can you tell I love it? No regrets. Anyway. ..That's my upgrade story!
