First, V20c is the latest....
I believe the only sure way is to unbrick and flash a prerooted stock ROM.
what error messages are you getting?
Also, make sure you have usb debugging enabled and have it set to pc software. If you get failures change permissions or to push files to your phone you should reboot the phone. Other than that, just keep attempting. First time I rooted it took the first time... ,2nd time I was almost ready to give up when I saw 'zerg rush successful'

what program should I be using to root I listed 3?
Then I can list the messages
what mattman says is correct, V20c is the latest and requires the unbrick method, but v10j can be easily rooted.. just have to put up with a little frustration here and there.
I have no preference on what program used to root, but what little experience I have is with super one click, so.... that one.

sounds good can you provide a link to the guide and I will get started right away (I think i know the one but better not to brink my phone)
the unbrick method is sticky'd here. It looks daunting but it's really quite simple. Just read through it once or twice, get a feel of what to do, and be sure to pay attention to any problems that others have encountered and you should be good to go.
Also, just to clarify; if you do, in fact, have v10j you don't need to unbrick. The ota update wasn't v20c if I'm not mistaken.

I cant make very much of this it looks. I know it reboots the phone and dose not copy superuser.apk over

Funny thing is I had the troubles rooting the Korean kdz following the unbrick. Prior to upgrading to ics official, my stock gb Rom rooted first time. That's why I say to just keep trying because that's what I did and it finally worked after about an hour of steadily clicking "root"after each failure.

maybe try a different version of super one click, I used 2.3.3 I believe it was.. or just keep trying that. It will take eventually.

I can't say I have a lot of experience rooting this device (I've only ever done it once), but I did have a few failures before I was able to succeed, so I'll at least give you an idea of what worked for me. Granted, this was on v10f firmware but it may be the same.
What worked for me was using doomlord after rebooting the phone. Supposedly the lag that the phone goes through right after it boots increases your success rate. So basically what I did was reboot the device with the USB cable connected, immediately swipe to unlock the phone at the moment when the lock screen first became visible, then immediately start doomlord before the phone has a chance to settle down and stop lagging.
Hope that works for you.

same thing just hangs up what else should I do
Also, don't use "shell root" if you're using SuperOneClick. Do a regular root.
the main thing now is just to keep trying. Try a manual reboot here and there maybe. If it doesn't work this time, try it again. If that doesn't work, do it again. If that fails, try again, etc, etc, etc, etc.
Or, try drumist's suggestion. I've read a few success stories with that method as well.

Has anyone had luck rooting after the last update? What I've got:
Model Number: LG-P930
Android Version: 2.3.5

Kernal Version: 2.6.35.11

If so, please post which method or a link to what worked. Went through this thread, but haven't seen anything.

You can't root that version. If you want to get root, you'll need to use unbricking method to install a ROM that can be rooted (like the russian one), root it, then flash back to a ROM you want to use.
You'll notice I'm the one who posted that, and it was quite a while ago. In reality, it can be rooted but I believe it is more difficult. Good luck in any case.

I assumed you had read the threads related to v10j rooting and based my assumptions upon that. I didn't really have the time to go reading/linking threads back to this one last night anyway, but today is a different story. From: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740467 Pretty clear that particular version can't be rooted, and that conclusion took a whole 10 seconds to find using the search function. Follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597488 and you'll be rooted and flashing new roms like you stole 'em in no time.

Hello people
I'm a user of the Arc s and who has spent over 5 hrs trying to root my phone but with no luck,
I've tried every way of rooting I could find but they ether don't work or I couldn't download the required files.
Meaning when I try and download the flashtools, A i don't know which one if the correct link because theres like 600 links or something and, B the person who uploaded the files had to use a server with a 1 download a hr limet and I'm NOT paying anything or signing up to the hosting place.
When I try one of the easy ways, like the one click app way they don't do anything, like i get cmd popping up for like 2 seconds then closing but nothing happens.
Just so you guys know, I'm not a noob. I have done these things before on different phones, but A it's been a long time scenes I've rooted anything before and B my Arc needs to be rooted in a very strange way which I've never seen before.
So the bottom line is i need help, can anyone help? anything would be useful.
Flashtool has 3 links on the main page ...
http://androxyde.github.com/
All 3 worked fine for me. Let's start there
What build are you on? If it is .62/69 then the one click method its never going to work.
If on .42 then the one click will work
if on ics the easy rooting will work add I have used them both.
Flashtools look for version .7.0.1
When using three one click rooting phone needs to be powered on. Connect via usb run file via PC then follow the promts on screen.
I an not in front of PC so cant post links.

I've tryed this one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038
and It doesn't work, I just get waiting for device and nothing happens. I've waited like 30min with nothing. and yes I have got usb debugging on and unknown sources on aswell.
Any ideas on what can be wrong?
ok I've had a bit more luck, I've found the newer version of the program and now it runs through the process but it just fails, I don't get root when the program sas it's fished :S.

Then the following method:

works like a charm and it's easy as hell.
Thats the one I tried at the start. I still get the can't mount system error.

It seem fairly easy to install since the files only contain 2 .exe , one for driver and one for install ics leak I guess?
I'm a noobie, I see some installin instruction but it's mainly for people who has already experience with android.
So anyone who has already installed this leak, can you give me the most dumbed down list of step possible? even like stuff how to enter a mode or button to press specifically.
does this need to be rooted to be install? thank you so much.

If I remember correctly, all you have to do is run the drivers and then put the phone in debugging mode. To do this, you go to applications, then development, then you'll be able to see it and click it. Then run the .exe and that's it.

The ICS leak is the easiest to install "ROM" ever. You don't even need root. Just run the exe file.
Now getting back from the leak because the battery only lasts 4 hours and the signal isn't as strong is the HARD part. And unfortunately, there is NO way to get completely stock again with the Nitro.
Even unbricking it leaves you with a rooted ROM that can't be updated through any official method (OTA nor LG Update Tool). Hell, I couldn't even find an unofficial way to update it after I unbricked it and stay stock. Only V10F is rootable, so nobody can get the IMG files off of V10i or V10j, so you get stuck at V10f if you want to stay stock. That's not necessarily a bad thing since I think V10j had issues with the baseband, but it might make it impossible to update to the stock ICS update when it comes out. Your only option at that point will be to either install CyanogenMOD or some other custom ROM. But if the official ICS ROM isn't rootable, you'll never be able to update to it.

I don't think you even have to put it in debugging mode. Just let Windows install the drivers when you hook it up and run the exe file. It's an official updater so it shouldn't need debugging turned on. You do have to put it in PC Mode though.
And how do you put it in PC mode?

When you plug it into your computer, it will pop up 4 options in your notification bar. PC mode is one of these options. It basically just allows LG software to see your phone.
Be careful. You are better off rooting your stock and installing cwm. Then you have options. With the leak, you are stuck unless you unbrick.

dnorthington is right on the money here. It will be a lot more work later if you choose the lazy route and use the 1-click installer right now. The other option is waiting for AT&T, but nobody wants that, right?

I think the issue, specifically, is that the guide doesn't really specify to use the ION rom files. Most people that don't know anything about Android wouldn't know any better. But then again, one might argue that if this is the case that root isn't for them.
I won't redo the guide, as it's already there. But if I can get my roomy to let me use his phone for recording purposes, I may make a video. Someone...anyone?? Anyone else care to take part in this too? With helping I mean?

I just put this on another thread, but I'll put it here as well, as it might be useful for another noob like me. Last weekend flashed ICS on my Xperia, following the procedure for rooting. It took me maybe two hours to get all the instructions and download everything I needed. Besides the firmwares, Root Toolkit, Android SDK, for which the links are in the instructions, I also needed Flashtool for Windows, the latest version from http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/, which has the drivers for Ion. When installing the drivers from Flashtool\drivers, the Ion wasn't in the list, so I just installed all the options available. I followed everything from the instructions, but wasn't getting the same response from the ADB commands, it still worked.
I would add two things to the instructions:
1. First flash the international GB firmware, wiping everything in the device, to get hotspot.
2. Right after flashing ICS, Flashtool won't recognize the phone, even if the USB debugging option is on. You'll have to update your PC drivers by going to Control Panel, Device Manager, and choose to have Windows search for updated drivers (while the phone is connected, of course). You´ll know you got it right when Device Manager displays a different name for your phone, and Flashtool is able to tell you the software version. At that point you can run the second part of the rooting procedure.
Now a question for people that have flashed the ICS firmware. Is there a way to put the slide to vibrate option back in the lock screen? I liked that from the At&t rom, don't know why the Chinese one has a slide to camera, if there is a hardware button for the camera that works with a locked phone.
Not sure where to post a victory message! After scouring the net over my truly new LG Escape P870, actually newly released to the world in mid-September, for rooting information, I somehow landed on Bin4ry's thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460.
I am extremely happy to say that version 15 did the job! I wanted to post this in his thread, but I'm not allowed to because I'm new.
So for anybody enjoying using this great phone, there's hope. And it's EASY!
Peace, tinkicker.
I tried Bin4ry's as well but it did''t work for me. It kept giving me errors (i tried it like 10 times). I tried both methods (for tabs and the normal) I wanted to post on Bin4ry's and give him the output that I got but I couldnt post on that thread (new user) . Then I found a site, which I am not able to post the link to because xda doesn't let me( new user), but if you google "LG Esteem OneClickRoot" it is the first result that comes up. I tried that one, it also gave me errors and restarted my phone, I thought It didnt work but when I went and looked in the installed apps, for my surprise there was a new app - "superSU". So I opened a terminal typed su and there it was the coveted # sign . Now I need to find how to install a new recovery.
Hey guys, just got this phone today. Tried both of those methods with no luck so I figured why not try the method that worked on the recently ported ICS 4.0.4 for the LG Thrill.
You can find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31963526&postcount=532
The version 1.6 worked for me. The only problem I had was there was an error reading a file, second time through it worked with 0 errors.
Also there is an update to our firmware from P87010c to P87010f not sure what the difference is.
NO JOY!!!
Okay...I'm stupid. Rooted phone...one wrong move with a system file...yep. Brick.
Fortunately I was 1 day shy of my hardware warranty expiration so new phone. But...now Bin4ry's app no longer works for me! It will NOT root this new Escape!
Tomorrow I'll try MikesTooLz's and see what happens.
Look at your system info, did you get the newer software version? The v10f or P87010f is the update, the one on my phone that I rooted with wkparks method is v10c or P87010c.
If it's the updated version can't say for sure but the link I posted above worked on 2 LG phones that I have, may work on yours.
I suspected the software update--it's the F version--might be the culprit but I didn't know what the original was so I couldn't be sure.
So what can I do? Wait on someone to cover the F update? Could I download the older version, root, and then upgrade again?
Did you try the method posted in the link I provided? You may have to run it 2 times to get it to work. Also some have reported better results with version 1.2 of the root script vs 1.6
What exactly is going wrong? Can you give me a screenshot of the cmd prompt? I will do what I can to help, I have the update ready to go but haven't done it because I want to make sure I have root. haha
Downgrading isn't really possible because the only KDZ I can find is the v10f which I posted in a thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33752762
I'm slowly working on this phone so hopefully we can get a custom recovery going and everything no promises though but, I won't be happy till I can put a custom rom on this phone.
Urabewe, it worked!
I could NOT download v1.6. It would appear to download, virus scan would run, and browser would lock up. When I checked my "extract to" folder, the bin and files folders were there, but none of the .bat files had extracted. I was able to correctly download and extract v1.2, so I ran it, and my phone is now rooted. Thank you for the info!
It ran the first time and failed. Ran the second like you said I might have to, and it completed correctly.

Does that mean you were waiting to root your phone to see if I bricked mine? LOL!
Now...everybody talks about "install a new recovery". Can somebody point me to or describe the correct procedure/routine/script that I need to follow in order to set my phone up safely like it should be? What apps do I need to fulfill all the correct steps? Yes, I've messed around with a tablet root for a year, but I'm no developer. As far as the technicalities go, I'm pure NOOB. Windows, I understand. Linux, I'm learning. I don't know how to be safe about this and I can't afford to buy another phone if I screw up (wife is watching me closely).
Urabewe, thanks for the help!
Awesome glad it worked. No wasn't waiting for you to brick, just confirm root was possible, and this is nice to know I may just upgrade later then.
Recovery is not possible right now, bootloader is locked and only thing we can get into is download mode which has nothing to do with custom recoveries. Slowly working on it so anything I find will be posted.
Any info I find will be posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33752762 so keep an eye out there.

has anyone tried any of the one click methods? ive found 3/4 different ones out there.
One Clicks...
I tried two specifically meant for LG phones, and I had no luck with them. I succeeded with Urabewe's posted links though. And yes, as I posted in their thread, v10f IS rootable. Once I figure out how to take screencaps again, or better take live video of the screen, I will get it as more proof. Now to see if ROMs will be possible soon....
I can't rooting my terminal, other method easy?

So, on Thursday I picked up an LG G3 from Verizon. I was absolutely loving it. But like most people, I wanted custom ROM's and roots and all the fun stuff you can do with android phones. I rooted my device the day I got it with IORoot. Everything is working fine at this point.
After this, i wanted a custom ROM. I found that there wasn't many for my specific model, but i did see the Sphinx G3 Neo ROM. I payed no attention to what variant it was for and loaded it up on my phone. At first, everything was working perfectly and it was butter smooth. But then I noticed whatever messaging app I tried to use would not work. I did a factory reset and then did the same process to load Sphinx on my G3. This time, messages were working, however, mobile data was not. I finally had enough of this and decided to return to the stock ROM. I found all of the stock files and was attempting to use the TOT method. I put the phone in download mode (which it won't come out of btw) and tried to start flashing. I then realized what I had done and saw that my device was reading something like D855. So when I downloaded the Verizon files it wont work. But will I be able to fix this? Have any of you had this problem before? This phone is brand new and I cannot replace it at this point. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out.
Hi,
So sad to hear that. Have you tried TOT files from this thread?
I hope your imei is intact.

I don't it is bricked per say. I do believe that the only way to solve the problem will be to do as you were trying, return it to stock with .tot files, you just need to find some information which I did see in the threads somewhere with regards to getting out of download mode.
Once you get that done and flash back to stock, then you can root again, I would suggest using Stump root, and the unlock the bootloader with Bump, and this would be a good time to make a backup with the recovery TWRP.
Be calm and read as much as possible, I hope you sort it out. Good luck.

I have not found ANY information regarding being stuck in download mode. Not asking for you to go digging, but if happen to find a thread about that I would be pleased if you sent it my way. I have attached some screenshots for you to see the error I'm getting.

Can you confirm that you are using a USB 2 port and not a USB 3? Just in case...

Also another question, what modes are you able to boot into when holding down etc the right combination of keys?
Or does it always boot into download mode no matter what?

And finally, have you tried using the LG pc suite?
Please note I have not had any of these problems and so I am only offering suggestions of various things I have read while owning a G3, just makes me sad to see posts like this... Really hope you manage to get it working again... Afterall, we finally have unlocked bootloader!

Nah, just gotta pay more attention to what I'm doing. Plus, bump just came out.
I take 6 hours to find solution, must use another dll "LGUP_8974.dll"
This one let .tot file take control and don't check phone model, if someone have the same issues this can help
