Need help with boot animation issue - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi everyone,
I got myself in another little bit of trouble with my Galaxy S3. I thought I was doing something simple by just installing/flashing a new boot animation... WRONG. I flashed this one: androidbootanimation.com/android-boot-animations/galaxy-nexus-intro-boot-animation/#comment-766
And now the dang phone is stuck on the final black image with the words Galaxy Nexus and won't move from there. I can hear the phone ring, notifications, etc., but the only image available is that one... CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE????
Thanks guys

Go to /system/media then delete bootanimation.zip then reboot, that should fix you up.

Use adb or a root explorer
Edit:if you made a nandroid restore the system

Reflash your current rom.
You can also adb shell and delete such file from recovery.

wow these answers suck lol
Posting in the q/a section would probably get you better answers but if its not too late download aroma file manager here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1253228&stc=1&d=1344611518 flash in recovery like a Rom.use it and navigate to system/media and delete the zip. Mount your system partition under mounts and storage before you flash this.

Thanks all - I was able to find an Android Commander PC app that let me get into the phone's system files. I deleted the bootanimation zip, but the problem persisted with the simple android opening screen. i think it's from something that was done in the file explorer with the root and/or mount thing.... i dunno.
I had to re-flash the dang rom.
Start AAALLL over again.
thanks for the help everyone!

I'm using it right now on the newest cm7 nightly, suits the rom just fine .
Find the correct .ogg file, using root explorer or any other file manager move the .ogg file to system/media/ui/ and overwrite the initial one. A reboot is needed for sounds to take effect.
U can also adb push "filename.ogg" system/media/ui
/system needs to be mounted 'rw'.
Good luck!

I hadn't done this on my G2 yet when I posted the youtube link, but I just did it and it took about 20-30 seconds to do it.
I've always found that SU File Manager was easier to do this, so people should try it out.
It overwrites the file, make sure you pressed the S in the top left corner. Then just reboot after you've done everything.
Also make sure that you rename the file and delete .zip at the end.

I tried to use this on Enoms The Official Rom...but I see no UI in media, only notifications, and that's cuz I added that one. Where is the UI folder I need to stick this in?
When I look at the .zip of the rom I can see system, media and then Notifications ringtones and UI. But just in the .zip of the rom I flashed.
Any help would be appreciated

[Q] problem with flashing ""bionic cow" rom

hi ppl, i come here for help because even after reading lots of how-to's i still cant do this, so the thing is, i used odin to flash to a stock rom, and so far so good, the rom had the extension .md5, used that one package, fine.
then i saw a rom called "bionic cow" and from what i could gather, i have to flash thru recovery, because it is a zip, ok chose it from sd card, zip file and all, and then, bam:
"E:Short write of /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(no space left on the device)
installation aborted."
one thing worth mentioning, the zip isnt called package, the card is 16gb, and it has like 14 free, internal mem has around 800 mb free.
what can i try now? yea i did wipe the internal mem thru recovery menus.
This occurs because you are trying to flash it with the stock recovery which as you have found will not work. You must use a custom recovery see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446593
thank you very much, i tried to flash the recovery before with odin, but it seems i wasnt waiting enough time.
It worked and i flashed with OKV4_Final rom.
Another question: what to do when the rom file is in the .7z extension? i extracted it and repacked with zip extension, but it doesnt seem to apear in recovery menu.
EDIT: forget about it, all is good, i was looking in wrong dir.
Thanks
Help!
Please help me.
I also have a problem flashing the same ROM. I have flashed CWM and put the package in .zip file in the SD card (I rename it to Bionic_cow.zip) and install it on CWM, but I get an error saying "Installation Aborted" with an Android with X Sign (?) on the background of the recovery. Can somebody identify what is wrong?
You can't just rename it to zip you have to use 7zip first to combine the two parts

I use a Mac, but either way I didn't rename it to zip. I extracted the original file and compressed it again as a .zip file, but since the file's name is too complicated, I renamed it. Speaking of this, maybe renaming it causes this error?

Create a new folder...place part.1 n part.2 in the same folder.
Extract part.1....part.2 will self merge into one folder.
Browse into that folder and highlight all items n create .zip.
You can name it anything as long as it has. zip

Thank you very much, I have the ROM running on my phone now.
But there's a stupid question though:
I notice that whenever I lock my phone, it has this animation (bug?) like an old television turned off. Is this part of the ROM?

That would be normal, CWG has been using that animation since before his Bionic ROM..
Besides, to me it look way much cooler than the stock animation when u lock ur phone..

[Q] ROM Malice Boot animation

Hey guys, I flashed the new Malice Rom (3/20/12), and I was wondering how I can switch the zombie boot animation. I know where to put the zip file, (/system/media) Somehow I cannot seem to get other ones to work. I made sure the replacement files mirror the original. Do I need to flash the entire file as opposed to just replacing the files using root explorer? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I renamed it to bootanimation.zip, etc.
Copy and then Change permision file in root explorer rw-r-r

Ok, maybe it cause your custom boot animation not valid..

Well, I tried a couple other ones, and no dice. Could it be that the rom itself only allows that one(or none)?
Download rom toolbox and get the boot animations from there. By far the easiest way.

[Q] Build.prop gone wrong

Hello,
I tried to alter my build.prop so I was able to download incompatible apps, but on reboot, my phone will not turn on. I changed ro.product.model to Galaxy S3, and now my phone will not turn on.
I made a copy of the original build.prop onto my SD card, but have no idea how to put this back into system, to overwrite the one I changed.
Please help,
thanks
Can you get back into recovery?
I apologize if I say anything I don't mean.
Yes, if I hold, volume up, home, and power, i get into the recovery

Nandroid is a backup of your phone. It is something you should do before doing things like changing build.prop and flashing stuff

Where do I get the stock ROM from to put into ODIN?
Assuming you made a nandroid backup in CWM before changing anything in build.prop (like you always should!), just go in to backup and restore, and hit restore. If not, you have to re-download and reflash your ROM.
EDIT: Here is a stock ROM. Please also read here.
Excellent. That worked.
Do you know how to do what I was originally trying to do? I am unable to download some apps in Google play as they are not compatible with the SGH-I747, and I was trying to change this so Google play seen the phone as a different device allowing me to download the apps.
Thank You for your help
Have you done a search for the apk files? If you can find them you could just side load them.

Yes I have, with no luck
How did you edit it.. most likely you screwed up the.permissions. you also need to edit more than one entry. Look for the thread on getting Google wallet to work. Use root explorer to edit it.

I followed this. But I didnt change it to Nexus S, I changed it to Galaxy S3, thats where I messed up. I am not sure if changing it to Nexus S will work either though?

HELP! System ui has stopped working s3 i747

Hey guys, i tried flashing a theme which was the circular battery percentage w/15 toggles last night, via cwm and when i rebooted after flashing it took longer than usual and when it finally booted i got a pop up saying " unfortunately system ui has stopped working" how do I fix it? i didnt have any backup (yes I know im a genius), now, i was wondering, does any of you guys have the stock system ui files to flash it via cwm?
here is the h9 one
thanks, man but when i try and install it it tells me that the app was not installed
you dont intall it rename your old systemui.apk to systemui.bak and place the new one in the same spot it should be system/app then reboot your phone and it should work or you can reflash your rom with out wipe and that will fix it too

thanks for the answers guys, sorry for being such a noob, but where can i find the systemui.apk file? in order to replace it
in the folder system/app
is there any tweak i must know of in order to replace/rename the file systemui.apk it doesn't let me do anything because it's a read only file
and does it matter if mine is a telus i747m?
what app are you using to do this
root explorer, with superuser permissions
ok when your in the folder where systemui is click mount r/w at the top of the screen then you can rename it
thanks man, you saved my life right there, now, the other question is, where did you get the systemui.apk file? and could I find it for a galaxy note i717d as well?
i pulled it from the zip in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1902178
as for the note you should be able to pull it from a stock rom in its section on these forums
Thank you
Thanks so much I was finally able to get 7.1 to work with your UI file!!:good:
