Hi all.
Please help me fix my HTC One X!! I am trying to restore my phone back to its former glory after a failed attempt to upgrade to Jelly Beans. I installed Clockwork Recovery by
c:\Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.2.4-endeavouru.
img
sending 'recovery' (5452 KB)... OKAY [ 0.701s]
writing 'recovery'... INFOFormat partition SOS done
OKAY [ 0.556s]
finished. total time: 1.257s
However now I can not seem to mount my sdcard!! I have tried
c:\AndroidSDK\tools\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
>>>> which lists nothing!!
I need to put the operating system back on, but I am at a loss for what to do next after hours searching fruitlessly.
Please help if you can!!

Why would you use such an ancient version of clockworkmod? You want 5.8.4.0, then you can mount SD card from recovery. And charge. Both good things
Try to install Android revolution ,then if you want follow going to stock threat :reboot to bootloader and flash rom boot.img , erase cache , boot into recovery bootloader->hboot->recovery or if it dont work try to flash recovery again than do full wipe and flash rom.zip
You can now boot system

Please would someone mind giving me basic instructions as how to go about remounting the sd card?
@ms0, I installed the Android Revolution, but I didn't understand your instructions properly.
Thanks for the messages so far, I am still very stuck
1) go into recovery
2) mount storage as USB.
When you're in fastboot it won't show in adb - you need android running for that
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Adb only work when booted in system.
Sdcard mount can work in system and recovery.
To install recovery or system you can use fastboot command in bootloader
(Phone connected to USB and in bootloader-fastboot
Tab.)
To enter bootloader just shut down your phone (hold power for 10sec)and hold both vol- and power button.
When you are in bootloader on your computer you can run
Fastboot flash recovery -filename-.img
to flash recovery
Fastboot flash boot boot.img to flash rom kernel (you must also do fastboot erase cache ).
When this is done on your phone you can go to main bootloader screen and from there you can enter recovery and flash rom itself. Now you should be able to boot system and check usb debuging in settings . You should now be able to connect to adb if this don't work make sure you have proper drivers on your computer (HTC sync manager and Android sdk.)
Sorry for bad english - i hate htc keyboard

Hello everyone, I made a mistake (I am a big noob) and I don't know how to fix it.
I wanted to have fresh phone (real factory reset) to back-up and start over, so in recovery mode (interim one from paul) I wiped data, cache partition and I also formated cache, data, sdcard and system.
Now, I am stuck on htc quietly brilliant screen, I have access to hboot, recovery etc. I have been looking for a solution for 2 days without succes, I am sad.
Can someone help please ? thanks guys.
You wiped the system so there is no android on there!

The part you did wrong: It's true that you wipe (dalvik) cache and data before flashing a custom rom. That will perform a factory reset. Wiping system means deleting android itself, as stated before. That's what you did wrong.
Now, we can't know why you wanted to start all over again, but assuming you already flashed a custom recovery, you wanted to install a custom rom. Just go ahaed and do so, your problem will be fixed.
thanks, but I can't because this custom recovery doesn't allow me to mount usb and i have no rom on my sd card

That's not actually a problem. I assume you aleady have the android SDK set up, if you don't, please use the search function or google. try the following command while in the platform-tools folder:
adb push path/to/custom/rom /sdcard
or for linux/mac:
sudo ./adb push path/to/custom/rom /sdcard
This will copy the file to the root of your sdcard, so you can flash it. Good luck!
P.S. there's a thanks button, too

That wont work as ADB does not work on any of the custom recoveries at the moment. Im stuck in the same situtation at the mo and as phone is branded cant get the RUU to reflash so just playing the waiting game until either ADB/USB mount available in recovery or S-Off available.

I do exactly the same thing , but half way through the RUU process it gives me an error saying i need the correct RUU. anyone can help ?
All you have to do is grab an RUU, run it. now on your pc search for %temp%in there locate ROM.zip. Extract the boot.img and system.img. and push them thru fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot_signed.img
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
Code:
adb reboot
i did that , but i get this error:

Just remove the ROM Manger from apps, Switch off, Remove replace battery and try again..... might work!
I uninstalled both the rom manager and the license and then flashed the recovery again, still nothing. It will go to the white HTC screen for a couple mins and then reboot again and then boot normally. Is CWM the only recovery image for the marvelc I can try?

Hi
I rooted and installed a CyanogenMod ROM on my One X and decided to revert back to stock using the backup I had created. I forgot to backup the boot.img though and it's now stuck in a boot loop.
I have access to fastboot but when I select recovery it displays the HTC logo white screen and doesn't progress from there. I've tried to flash the latest CWM recovery however when I send it I get an error message back:
sending 'recovery' (5742 kb)... FAILED (remote: (00000004))
I was flashing the latest recovery in the hope of being able to mount sd card and flash a new ROM/boot.img.
I've searched and searched and I've been unable to find any information that helps. :crying:
Please help me!

If you can enter fastboot USB, you shouldn't have any problems flashing CWM touch, maybe you have a corrupt CWM image - here is a perfectly working version.
http://db.tt/VF9J2eo8
Just in case you don't know,
Place the IMG in the folder that contains fastboot, adb etc in Android SDK - ie platform tools
Open CMD whilst phone is in fastboot USB,
CD c:/Android-SDK/platform-tools
fastboot flash recovery CWM.img
Good luck

You can only flash the boot.img using fastboot.
The boot.img is in the nandroid backup.
If you can't access recovery you could try fastboot erase cache

I decided earlier today that I'd try to root my one X, but I wound up screwing up to the point that I'm lost. I accidentally wiped the system while in recovery, and when I rebooted, it kept looping. By pressing the power/down button, I can get into the bootloader, and from there into recovery. In the recovery, I was able to look around using a file manager but only found empty folders.
I used adb push to try to get a rom onto the phone, but I'm not able to flash it. When I go to reboot, it informs me that there's no OS installed.
If anybody has any idea what I can do, it would be much appreciated.
im assuming you already unlocked your phone
1.Enter fastboot by holding power + volm down.
2.Select fastboot
3.plug in USB
4.flash recovery with the command: 'fastboot flash recovery <name of recovery here>
5.flash the boot.img that came with the ROM, usually it's located within the zip file
6.erase cache using command: 'fastboot erase cache'
7.select Hboot to return to main menu
8. go to recovery
9. wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik from advanced options, format system from mounts and storage menu
10. in mounts and storage, select mount usb
11. copy over ROM zip
12. Install from ZIP
13. reboot system
PS. your phone is only bricked if it can't turn on. obviously it's not going to boot up if there is nothing to bootup, lol
Just ensure your recovery is a recent version, like clockworkmod 5.8.4.0, otherwise mounting won't work.
Thanks for the quick reply. I don't entirely understand how to flash the recovery, however.
I assume I'm running the command on the computer. How do I know what to type in as the recovery?
Mate, did you even do your research before attempting any of this?
Anyway,
Make sure you got HTC sync installed, also Android SDK
1/ Open to a command prompt by going: start -> type in cmd
2/ browse to your folder containing fastboot and adb using the 'cd' command
e.g. My fastboot folder is located at "C:/htc/fastboot" so I would type: 'cd C:/htc/fastboot'
If you're using the one from SDK it could look like C:\Users\Steven\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
3/ enter the commands -fastboot flash recovery ...., fastboot flash boot.... etc.
Not nearly as well as I should have. I learned the hard way I guess. Thanks for putting up with my cluelessness though.
I've done as you said, but when I tried to boot into the recovery, I got stuck on it looping the "htc quietly brilliant" screen.
You sure you flashed it Successfully?

I was able to get my phone running again by following the video here --Nevermind, Can't post the link yet. Should anyone need it, send me a message--. Basically, I had to relock the bootloader and install the RUU.
Now, however, I'm trying again to root my phone, but whenever I try to unlock the bootloader, it still remains locked ("relocked" on the bootloader screen). I can't find anything about how to fix this. Have I lost the ability to root my phone?

Connect device in fastboot to PC, manually update drivers, disconnect device, reboot PC
Connect device again, flash recovery, after it finishes, disconnect USB, use volume keys to "reboot recovery", reconnect USB, manually update drivers again
'adb devices' should return your SN
'adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/' or if that doesn't do it, 'adb push ROM.zip /data/media/'
