Okay if I ask S Voice to Find Nearest Pizza Restaurant, it only shows me US locations? If I ask it to take me to the nearest pizza restaurant, navigate finds the correct Canadian locations.
I have S voice setup to my home which is in Canada.
Any suggestions?
My s voice does not work well at all as well. jellbean will probily be out in a few weeks. The jellbean search blows away s voice

Let's see if I can explain it....
When I was on GB, I was using Maps (NOT Navigation) and it
would SPEAK the street names.
Now, on ICS I can NOT use maps as main navigation, but you
have to actually push "navigate" button to go someplace (and "navigation"
is NOT speaking the street names).
What I'm trying to say is, before the Maps will SPEAK the name
of the street, but now it does NOT!
Anyone knows what changed?
you could try clearing map cache, force close, and restarting the app
Thanks but that didn't work.
I fired up Telenav and it works good, speaking out the street names.
But I want to use Google Maps like I used to, with spoken street names.
I think in the last update they took away that feature.

You have to clear all data for maps...then start it back up...

Clearing the data did not work.
However, I fixed it.
What happened is this...
I use Ivona text to speech engine, and I moved it to the SD card.
After that it did not read anything anymore, including the street names in Maps.
I restored Ivona back to the phone and now it reads everything OK.
Thanks for your time and answers.

I successfully flashed my Evo using the Droid version 4 rom posted in the developers forum. Everything works but I can't find an app for voicemail. The ops page listed that version Droid version 3 added voicemail so I assumed it would carry over to the next version. Sorry but I can't ask in that forum since I don't have the 10 posts minimum.
Try Google voice. Its an alternative to vvm.
This is my signature.
I'm on metro too, and visual voice is a no go for us metro folk. You have to go another route. Like soap said, Google voice is a good alternative. It's what I use

Actually, I googled "pcs visual voicemail apk" and installed. Works fine, you just have to use 3g to get authenticated and retrieve voice mail - doesn't seem to want to work using a wifi connection.

I've had Google voice since I've had a droid 1so i know it worked before. I've had my gnex for more than a year and had no problems (different ROMs too). It just stopped working all of a sudden. I signed out, I uninstalled it. It says my carrier doesn't support it. I've always had Verizon.
I've gone to the help thing it gives me. That didn't do anything. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, any suggestions?

Update: so i called my Google voice number with another phone and it works. But if I call my cell number it goes to my Verizon Voicemail. Idk why or how.

You might try going to the Google voice site. Login and go to your phone listing in the settings. I am next to your mobile should be a link for deactivating voice mail. I'd click that, ignore what it says next and click okay, then click activate again and punch in the code it gives you to setup forwarding again. It sounds like that might have gotten lost some how.
If it doesn't say deactivate then just do the activate process again. I haven't always had the best luck with the app setting the settings correctly so this might help.
Good luck!

Hi, uh i was wondering if i could use my sprint s3 in india using google voice, cause i was looking at the rates (2 cents per minute) which are way cheaper than sprints, and they both work seamlessy together so i was wondering if i could use google voice without sprints international roaming charges. please answer fast, leaving soon, Thanks!

First of all, Google Voice is not a standalone VOIP service. It is a call management and forwarding service/feature. It is not like standalone VOIP services like Skype or Vonage or Net2Phone etc.
In India, if you connect your Sprint S3 to a WiFi network, the Google Voice app will notify you of missed calls, voicemails, let you send and receive SMS etc.
If you use a app like GrooveIP you could use ur google voice with it and not pay any international fees if your connected to wifi..

I have a question about using voip apps while in India.
I use SparePhone to make calls over wifi on my DroidX. If I take it to India, would I be able to receive calls placed to my Google number?
Has anyone experienced any problems while placing calls this way from India to USA?
I'm not sure if I should just get a burner while I'm there - just ten days.
Thanks y'all!

Again...if you're on wifi and using like groove ip and you number is tied to google voice, it will work just fine.
I recently switched from Google voice to sprint visual voicemail and I cannot get sprint voicemail to work . I disabled voice from the PC and when I try to use sprints all I get is a busy signal . I called sprint and they couldn't figure it out . any help would be appreciated. I'm running TW stock odex

with changing from GV to Sprint VVm you have to go to Google voice under a PC and disable Google voice on your phone.
The enter *730 and end no answer call forwarding. That should make all work correctly.

Call Sprint support and they will deactivate Google Voice in your account for you.
Since Sprint partner with Google and does the integration on the voice mail, the only way to deactivate it's thru them. Good luck!

OMG, please at least be 100% sure you're giving the right advise. Calling Sprint is not the "only way" to deactivate GV Mail. I've done it a zillion times via the settings page on the GV website.
O.P, did you try * 38 ?
If you call into care or go into a store simply request that they remove the GVOICE soc code from your account. This will resolve the issue with no waiting. While it is true that you can do it from google.com, there is often a long wait. Doing it through sprint is instant.
