Hi guys, I am looking to replace the flex ribbon cable on a Galaxy Nexus i9250 and would like to know the following:
1. Does the cable revision have to be identical to the one that you have currently?
2. Does anything need to be soldered (like the mic) or attached that requires extra tools?

Hi there, I hope someone can help me.
The USB connection on my phone as been damaged.
My questions are:
1. Is it easily replaceable?
2. Can i swap it out with any USB Fitting, or does it have to be a Prophet usb fitting?
Kind Regards

Part is easily repaired, but only to be done by experienced technicians, because the size of the connector is very small ... the USB port and can be replaced with the like which are also widely used by digital cameras and MP3/MP4 Player.
Does anyone happen happen to know, specificly (ie. manufacturer, or distributor part number or model number) what USB connector the KF uses?
I just bought a used KF and the connector is failing. I have someone that can attach a new one for me but I haven't been able to figure out what connector to buy. Lots of searching and looking at pictures but i haven't been able identify it for certain. If I have to, I will pull the board and look at it but I thought I would ask first.
Thanks

I probably cant help you much but I use 2 different ones both non stock. one is for my droidx seems a little loose but it functions. The other is made by belkin standard usb to micro for media transfer this one is a little tight. when you say fail can you clarify that?
Thanks for your help. I am looking for the connector that is soldered to the motherboard inside the KF not a cable. When I plug a cable in the connection is very loose and I have to wiggle the cable a lot to make a connection and if I let go of the cable the connection fails. I have tried several cables, as well as, the wall charger, all with the same results so I am sure it is the connector on the motherboard. The cables work fine on my other devices.
Thanks again for your help.

its sound more like a loose fitting cable than the connection point itself I wouldnt know how to go about replacing the device end. Possibly might require a new motherboard to do so unless your pretty crafty. Wish I could be more help to you.
The belkin brand is much tighter fit I purchased it at target 16$
Hello to all!!
I recently brought a Tmobile Galaxy S II "SGH-T989". Now, this phone has a bad USB port / Flex cable. I'm pulling my hair out trying to find the part on the internet but all I can find if the USB Flex cable for the SamSung Galaxy S2 II "i9100" and not the "SGH-T989". Does anybody out there know if the i9100 USB Flex cable is compatible with the SGH-T989 phone? And if not, then where the heck can I buy the USB Flex Cable for my phone.
I'm sure this is a noob question and I'm sorry about that. But any help I can get will be very much appreciated.
It should be the same Samsung cable and charging cube for any of the Galaxy S2's including the Sprint and ATT version.

Awesome!!
Thanks for the reply. I ordered the part on Ebay. The seller believes it won't work but the part was only $10. So what the heck? Why not give it a try!! Again, thx for the reply.
No problem. My wife just got her Tmobile GS2. The charger cube and cable are exactly the same as the one that came with my Sprint Epic 4g Touch. You are smart that you bought the factory OEM cable because the aftermarket ones you can buy for 2 bucks are junk.

He means the flex cable that connect the USB port of the phone to the motherboard of the phone. Not the actual USB cable.
Doesn't look like there is an actual cable connecting the port to the motherboard. Looks like it's soldered directly on the board. Link for part: http://www.wirelesspartsinc.com/samsungt959a687i9000epici897chargingport-6.aspx
The part I'm talking about is the "Dock Connector Charging Port Flex Cable for SamSung Galaxy S2". I googled, ebay'd, etc, etc and only found the part for the i9100. I tried to reply with a pic but the website won't let me post outside links until I post 10 times. Sorry.
Any thoughts?

Yeah, I can't see any references to the analogous part for the SGH-T989 either. The disassembly video I found on YT didn't get far enough to see that cable either so I got nothing for ya. I don't know why they would use a different part though considering the phones are so similar. Best of luck.
update?

Hi guys.
I have an situation here and would like to hear if any1 have any knowledge about it.
My LS980 has an bad Dock USB Jack flex cable. I know because i had another G2 to test it and this is
100% the problem. Now that i need to buy another flex cable i also need to know if the D802 GLOBAL
version of this cable will work on my LS980 version, this is because i also have an bad glass digitizer
and i have here an D802 Glass digitizer. The only difference that i can notice is the up side connector
of the digitizer like the pictures.
If anyone know if i can buy the D802 Flex Dock USB cable and make it work on my LS980 i will be
glad to hear about.
Thanks!
My Galaxy Nexus isn't charging or connecting to my computer. I've tried different USB ports, wall adapters, and USB cords and nothing. I don't really want to replace the charging port. What can I do?
Thanks in advance.

Delete this thread!
I accidentally put this in the wrong section! Thanks!
Check the charging port for Lent and stuff with a little pin or something..
That's what happened to me in the past
I cleaned it out and start to work again

Of what cujo said didn't work you have no option but to replace the port or buy an external battery charger.

In a pinch you can rig up a temporary charger using the POGO pins on the right side of the phone. Just wire the corresponding red/black wires from a cut up USB cable to the correct pins (you can find the pinouts online). The trick is getting the wires to stay on the pins - you can try packing tape. I know this is kind of a dirty solution, but it will work in an emergency until you can replace the usb port.

Can you link me to the part I need to replace! And a video of how? And how expensive is the part in question? My Galaxy Nexus isn't my main phone but I just wanted it working again.

Well, there is no guarantee that it is the USB board - but you can purchase one on ebay for under $10. The part includes a usb jack as well as a ribbon connector that connects the jack to the main board. There is, however, a chance that you have a faulty main board, in which case, replacing the USB port is not going to fix your problem but the only way to really test that is to buy the part and try it out.

That's for a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, I don't remember which one you said you had but you'll want to be sure to get the right one.

Are you using the original charger that came with the phone? It's the only thing i have luck with.
