Hey guys,
I recently discovered that i havent been receiving text messages at all.
I have tried using different sms handlers such as stock sms and go sms apps.
I can send messages but not receive them
I am running the Ultimatum rom
using the kt747 sammy kernel on a Rogers-based phone.
I checked the CSC number by dialing *#1234#
and this is what was listed
AP: i747UCALEM
CP: I747MVLLE8
CSC: 1747ATTALEM
The fact that they're not the same, could that be the problem?
the baseband/modem is i747mvlle(rogers) but the CSC is for ATT, is that bad?
Please help, i cant stand not being able to socialize. haha.
Thanks
Pauley
I would check that you have the correct Rogers apn, as this happened to me often when flashing in the past.
I don't have it on hand, but a quick Google search should send you to the right direction.

i'm beginning to receive some messages but i dont know if im getting ALL of them.
is there a way to check that?
Also, will flashing the stock Rogers rom, and then flashing KT747 kernel fix the problem?
I really like the kernel since it improves my battery life by alot.

Yup that's what I have on my bone-stock i747m except my APN type is "internet + mms"
Easiest way to ensure you're getting all messages is to get a friend to message you and let you know that he/she is messaging you. Otherwise, I'm unaware of any apps that can check to make sure you get all of your messages.
Send SMS to yourself - that will check both sending and receiving.
If there is a prob - call your provider.
I really enjoyed Ultimatum Rom, but i ran into this problem too after about 2 days of using it. I was using it fine, sending and recieving messages and then one morning it all stopped. I never changed APN settings, before or after install, so i dont see that being the issue. I flashed back to stock and solved the issue. So, thats where i would start.

Hey all, ever since installing this rom I have not been able to send mms messages, everything else seems to be working fine.. I have checked my apn settings and they are set to the default and look okay.. I am on orange and my monthly plan does include photo messages, while i was on stock rom photo messages worked fine, but now when I try to send one it tries to send multiple times before saying it failed multiple times due to "generic network error".. does anyone know a solution to this? If anyone thinks they could help i would happily provide you with my apn settings, software settings and whatever else you could possibly need.
Thanks very much,
-Dan
I don't know if this will help. But i had the same error "generic network failure" after only having my HTC desire for couple weeks. I am on o2 sim simplicity while purchasing the handset separately and unlocking it.
However, i resolved it by manually setting up the WEB & MMS. As it seems that service providers such as O2 message that can be sent out to handsets do not aid in setting up the MMS therefore after manually setting it...it worked for me and may work for you.

no luck, deleted my apn's and entered that one, still get a gprs connection but no luck with MMS's.. before when i had my original apn's on there if i attempted to send an mms, it would turn on my mobile data connection if it wasnt on before, but it didnt actually do anything except fail and retry until it says it failed after multiple attempts due to generic network failure. Now with the new settings, the gprs icon doesnt even show up if i try to send an mms, and i still get the same outcome.

hi Niffer,
I have met same problem with Leedroid v2.5.0 but solved soon.
some apn configurations is incorrect with this release.
just change Apn Type value "default" with "default, supl" and then try again.
Hi Guys,
I'm having the exact same problem with Leedroid 3.0.8.2 on my Desire.
I had an app called 'Stop Data on 3' which substituted the data APN with a dummy one when Roaming off 3 in Australia due to extortionate data charges on the Roaming network (Telstra). This effectively stops your data when roaming. I suspected that this could have been causing the problem with the APNs, but I uninstalled it and still cannot receive or send MMS texts, even when not roaming and with full HSDPA signal.
Any help appreciated...
I've read some posts on here concerning a problem with MMS on tmobile. Is this a widespread issue or a few select people who aren't too familiar with specific APN settings and such? I have the GN in my shopping cart and am ready to buy but this is a huge issue for me as I need MMS to be functional. Can people with the GN on tmobile shed some light on this?
Thank you!
I have no problem with MMS on t-mobile. I didn't touch any of the apn settings.

well first off theres a couple issues.
first is MMS not working, the fix for this is just to put in the APN settings and your good to go.
The second and much more serious issue, is getting MMS pictures that are INSANELY small. something like 125pixels. Right now, there are a couple fixes going around, one that forces you to use goSMS, and a couple rom fixes.
but for now those are the only ways to fix it if you have that issue. I do and mike from android revolution rom has said he'll include the fix in his next release, which i really hope he does. i don't rely on MMS that much, but i do need to actually be able to see the messages i get.

Yeah, I presently use the Go SMS fix, which doesn't require root. However, I have already unlocked the bootloader and may be looking to root in the future. Are there any ROMs that allow you to change the User Agent for both the stock MMS app and for the stock web browser? That would be great.

you do need root to do this, but looks like it fixes the issue. and it is the ICS app so it's the same as stock.
I receive MMS just fine on T-Mobile. Is this issue random? Just curious, as I've had no problems so far.

I see. I'm sorry for those of you having the problem. I've had MMS problems in the past (not with this phone) and it was very annoying.
Any idea why some are affected and others aren't? Could it have anything to do w/ the SIM card (i.e., are people having problems using older SIMs)?
I remember reading about this in the HTC Desire section and the general consensus is that this is an issue affecting phones not supplied or T mobile branded. I had the same issue with Orange UK after I debranded my Desire.

Im on T-Mobile and experiencing this problem as well. Im not a fan of rooting or flashing ROMs so I chose the goSMS work around. This seems to only work sometimes as well. Email works also but you have to tell all your friends to email you instead of text which is annoying. Hopefully in the future Android can fix this and also allow group messaging that works with iPhones. Its my biggest gripe about Android.
Is the problem with sending mms, receiving mms, or both? And does it matter which carrier you're sending to or receiving from?

Good question. For me, while I havent tested it a bunch, is usually with receiving picture messages. The carriers they come from don't seem to matter, however, there seem to be issues with receiving iPhone picture messages. So far the goSMS app is the only messaging service that works most of the time. I dont like using goSMS at all but it'll do until a better fix comes about down the road.
I copied this exactly from how he wrote it, and it worked.
link
Download Go SMS Pro from the market.
Open Go SMS Pro and go to that app's Settings>Advanced>MMS Settings and change this:
User Agent: NexusOne ( SGH-T989 also works )
Put a check mark by 'Preserve image resolution.'
Next, go to the Go SMS Pro's Settings>Advanced>Important Tips and put a check mark by 'Stock SMS Uninstalled.'
After that, go to the Galaxy Nexus' APN settings (Settings>More...>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names) and make sure they say this:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: <Not set>
Password: <Not set>
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: <Not set>
MMS Port: <Not set>
MCC: 310
MNC: 260

APN Type: <Not set>
Send an MMS to yourself to test it out. After you send a pic, you should then receive two versions, a high-res pic and a lo-res pic. If you successfully receive both the high and lo-res pics, you may now go to the Galaxy Nexus' Settings>Apps>Messaging and disable the stock messaging app. You should now only receive a high res pic when you send yourself an MMS and when others send you an MMS.
I found that you must wait until the very last step to disable the stock messaging app in the GN's settings for this to work. Feel free to give this a try and post here if this works out for you guys.
Oh hell yeah!!! Found a fix for it (handcent users only)

I am on T-Mo too, I have had that problem more than a few times, and each time, I had to call T-Mo to renew my network connection.
You best call on another phone, as they will take you out of the network and re-insert you to it again. You will have to remove the battery, wait a few, and then reboot. After that It works!!
One time I had to clean out the cache and data of my mms client and the native mms app and it worked (fine ever since)
Good Luck and Aloha!
Is there a way to make the SCH-I545 Verizon S4 work on the T-Mobile Network with LTE? Which does have the LTE Band 4 on the phone.
I have the HSPA+ working but it does not send MMS... Only my Voice, Text, and Data work.
Are the physical radio the same or just software locked?

I didn't test MMS, SMS or anything, but see my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397984&page=2 LTE worked fine for me last night. Mind you, I'm on an MDK (Loki-able) phone w/ ME7 ROM and EMJ7 radio flashed. I used APN Manager Pro to edit my APN, I did nothing but add the fast.t-mobile.com APN, and it worked immediately with a T-Mobile $30/mo data prepay SIM.

I'll be traveling today and might be carrying several phones/SIMs to play with. If I have a chance, I'll give MMS a shot. You definitely need your MMSC set properly or MMS isn't going to work, though, I can tell you that much.
I'm experiencing the same problem, same phone. I also do not have an MMS protocol setting available to change. I'm guessing this is the issue. Does anyone know how to change the MMS protocol on this particular phone? Or is there another issue at hand here? Thanks for the help.
Seeming to have an issue sending an MMS message while connected to wifi. They sit at the little clock icon not sending our nor recieving . Soon as I turn off the wifi the issue goes away and pics send quickly... Anyone else can attempt this?
Am I really the only person having this problem?
I had an issue earlier today, corrected by adding a new T-Mobile LTE APN with the T-Mobile MMS settings properly added to the MMSC field and mms added to the "APN type" list.

I'll have my 10 tomorrow so I can try. Wifi texting works fine on my S7e so I can check the settings.
I'm also having this issue with the unlocked 10. During initial setup I chose T-Mobile as my carrier and now the APN settings are locked. Even when I add a new APN with the correct MMS settings, it won't allow me to select it.
thanks for the APN worked great. have you gotten wifi calling working? i keep getting an error when it pops up.
I don't have this issue at all. I turned on airplane mode than turned on Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi calling was enabled. It worked like all charm. Calls, SMS and MMS all went through immediately. I just set up my phone normally and chose tmobs as my carrier.
